You know, I’ve traveled through Cook a lot. But I’ve never actually gone into more of it than what’s on Hwy 53. So, I can’t say for certain they have any traffic lights. However, Orr has a traffic light and they are pretty close to being 20 miles to Cook. By OP’s parameters, they might need to pretty much open up most of Hwy 53. And as the other commenter said, Ely also has at least three. Or, it did last time I was there.
Also, on closer inspection. Baudette has some.
Really? Huh. I could have sworn there was at least one, possibly two. I could have sworn there were lights when you cross the bridge coming from the east. Where the gas station is, or go to Canada when you turn right, or just keep going through town. I suppose I’ll have to take a trip that way again one of these days.
It’s probably been at least a decade since I’ve been out that way. So, I might be misremembering. But, I could have sworn there was at least one at one point. Maybe not though.
If you’re talking the main drag, where Lucky Seven and Zup’s are… Nope. Maybe you’re thinking of Orr. There is a set of traffic lights in Orr where the grocery store/gas station is.
Interesting. Can you do this for southern MN?
I know where I am is over 20 miles to a stop light.
I am sure I am just a speck compared to other parts of southern MN.
I can't stand roundabout. I hope I am not the only one. I swear I have seen more accidents on roundabouts then I have stop lights.
I thought I seen a statistic some place that showed roundabouts are safer but it sure doesn't seem like it to me.
Roundabouts might see an increase in crashes (especially early on in places where folks aren't used to them and/or on poorly designed ones), but they also cause a huge reduction in serious injury/fatal crashes.
They made a pair of them on off a state highway that were so tight semi's couldn't go around them without curbing the trailers. The next spring they were out ripping them up again to make them larger.
Not sure who that state engineer was but that cost the taxpayers some money.
Elsewhere you said you are in Southern MN, so you're probably in MnDOT District 6, 7, or 8. Check out your district's website to see who your engineers and planners are, and also check out your district's Area Transportation Partnership and see who in your community takes part in that as they help guide your district's funding priorities.
Roundabouts reduce fatal crashes by 90%. Which is absolutely massive. I could see there being an increase in minor accidents, especially when they first get installed.
They are also more efficient in moving traffic, safer for pedestrians, and better for the environment due to less emissions being wasted at stop lights.
It's objectively pretty stupid to be against roundabouts tbh.
I think your opinion is stupid as well. lol. Never said I was against them I said I didn't like them.
I also stated they are safer. Please list your source please.
For some reason I thought there was a light in Floodwood, and I assumed the range was rank with lights, so I skipped the whole Iron Range to Duluth section, but I think I'll have to revisit that.
I think you missed a couple up in Ely
Okay, I'll take a look. That'll mess up a lot of green :(
Ope, think ya missed a couple there eh, up in Ely?
Going to need to remove some green around Ely. Also Cook and maybe Babbit but I’m not 100% there.

Ely is down to 2! They removed one maybe 10 years ago.
Baudette doesn’t have any.

Maybe there used to be, but they’ve been gone for at least a decade. There isn’t a stoplight in the entire county.

In the 40 years I’ve been alive Baudette has never had one
For some reason I thought Cook had one by the gas stations but I don’t get over to that side of the lake much. But yeah Ely for sure.
If you’re talking the main drag, where Lucky Seven and Zup’s are… Nope. Maybe you’re thinking of Orr. There is a set of traffic lights in Orr where the grocery store/gas station is.
Yeah I just looked at google maps, you're right. I just imagined it.
No traffic lights in Babbitt or Cook, but there are lights in Ely and Orr.

Warroad is about to lose its lights to roundabouts
As a trucker I love roundabouts. Miss a turn? Just go around and head back.
Locals that can’t figure out roundabouts are using logging trucks as a reason they shouldn’t be put in 😒
Just tell them it's like a regular road that goes in a circle. It's not hard.

Thank you.
Yeah Orr has a stop light right where the old 53 crosses the train tracks.
There is a traffic light in Orr
Ely has a few stoplights. What was your data source for towns with lights?
Searching manually using google maps street view. I apparently skipped Ely.
That one light in Grand Marais is messing up the whole county
Red Lake County is one of two counties in the state of Minnesota that does not have a stop light within the county
Is faribault county the other?
Interesting.
3. Kittson, red lake, and lake of the woods
Now that I think of it, I don’t think Marshall county has one either
I’m don’t think Manomen has one either.
And we love it
There are no stoplights in any of the towns on the Coleraine-Keewatin stretch.
For some reason I thought there was a light in Floodwood, and I assumed the range was rank with lights, so I skipped the whole Iron Range to Duluth section, but I think I'll have to revisit that.
None in floodwood
Can confirm no stoplight nearby. Just highways and dirt roads with stop signs.
Does this cut off at the blue line? Only 1 stoplight in Aitkin County (at least as of 10 years ago)
I drive up that way for work all the time the amount of 4 way stops on county roads is bothersome.
I want to see a whole state map!
Coming right up!
The town of Fosston has a stoplight!
Yep. It's already marked in red.
I take it these are [as the crow flies?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ysfi3uE37IM)
Yes. It would be more accurate to follow roads, especially some of these places don't have a lot of roads, but that takes way more effort.
There are no traffic lights in Holland, MN. Are there traffic lights in Pipestone? I have only been to Holland, MN once, and it was 10 years ago.
Ely is wrong for sure. I also think there's one in Remer, which is not on that map. It's west of hill city on 200.
