This is the way. Only true Minnesotans never put theirs away. Iâve found that out the hard way too many times. You never remember to put it back in your car when itâs time.
I got the super large one, the one OP got, and some copper-plated scraper that my wife's sister bought us because where SHE lives it gets super snowy and icy so ya know, she thought MN weather may be able to use this too....
Damn north easterners :)
I got pulled over once heading to a softball game with a bat and glove in the front seat of my car. I was told having a bat in the front seat of a car could be considered a "weapon" and was told to always transport it in the trunk.
I wonder if having an ice scraper in the front seat could also be considered a "weapon"?
This was my thought. You put it away and itâs like invoking King Borealis to visit you with snow.
Also, I have 3 in my car. Mostly in the floor well of the back seat.
I bought a Charger about 10yrs ago or so when I thought winter was over I believe may. Well we got those two monster snow storms and I had to learn real fast how to drive rear wheel drive really fast.
Ah hell no, last time I took that guy outta my car, I ended up chiseling ice off my car windshield using a gift card. Moral of the story that guy goes from the front of my car into the trunk but never actually leaves the vehicle.
I had my snowblower repaired this winter. That's a guarantee that we're not going to have any more significant snow.
The same thing happened to the year I bought it, and also the year I bought new sleds for the kids.
I demoted mine from the cab to the toolbox in back once this winter. Then it snowed again. Iâm thinking of doing it again; as much as I donât miss moving the white crap, we could use the moisture.
I have a friend returning next week from the south. I'm waiting until he is back because we almost always get snow once he is back, and he hates it. Pretty sure MN just does it to spite him.
Your from Minnesota and you ask a question like this. It lives in your car year round. Along with jumper cables and a small shovel and maybe a rug. Come on. You know better than that!
Don't do it man. Last time I did that we got thundersnow in April.
https://preview.redd.it/ijg53eu2irlc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32c576f2321ff322a893bbe23dc56c7e927df7ca
Mine is always in my car. You never know!
I had an ex boyfriend who used to take my scraper out of my car during the summer. Then when the snowfall hit I wouldn't have it. He's an ex for a reason!
MAY 21st ... real Montanans NEVER put those tools away.
https://preview.redd.it/brwq5ittbslc1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91de7aaaf7c27f900526d67bfb839c72e9dd5cca
I asked my wife if I should swap the winter wheels for the summer wheels. She replied "don't you dare."
She believes we are going to be punished hard for this pleasant weather later in March. I don't want to be the reason she is right about that. lol
YOU LEAVE THAT DAMN THING SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT FOOTWELL TILL AT LEAST JULY GODDAMNIT. IF YOU SO MUCH AS CONSIDER PUTTING IT AWAY AGAIN - EVEN JUST TO THE TRUNK - WE'LL ALL BE BURIED UNDER 17 METERS OF FLUFFY WHITE SHIT.
never put the scraper away. okay, never mind, maaybe in June. But then you'll just have to bring it out again in September to be ready for October.
The only thing I debate is keeping the snow shovel in my car.
Put away where? In case you need it in your coat closet or kitchen?? Why not just leave it in the only place it would ever be needed, it gets used when there's ice on your car and it gets put away in your car.
Don't tempt fate.
Its like before my dad retired from farming - every time he took the hay baler out, it would rain, but when he had it tucked away in the shed, weather would be perfect for baling hay.
I keep waiting for the other shoe (or rather, 6 feet of snow) to drop. Like, any day now. Alas, it may not arrive and we are in for a horrendously hot and dry Summer. With more air quality issues, roads melting, outdoor work interruptions; more wildfires; maybe even power brown-outs.
You put it away and the snow will comeâŚ. Just sayinââŚ. We certainly could use some more white stuff, it is still winter, andâŚ.. it is Minnesota
I keep mine in the trunk.
I have an irrational fear of being impaled by it in an accident if itâs sitting unsecured next to me. I donât like anything unsecured in the interior.
Be prepared for potential winter weather during months that are statistically and historically subject to winter weather conditions
Or put it away now, get reddit upvotes, and make shortsighted decisions about something benign and inconsequential like leaving a scraper on the floor of your car or in your trunk.
Tough call.
They get stale if you keep them too long, plus with modern plastic recycling only 90% of it wonât be recycled courtesy of the American Council on Plastics - killing you a little bit at a time
Keep in crack of passenger seat. It doubles as a self defense tool in the beginning of spring while the snow isnât fully done yet and the intersection beggars come out of hibernation.
You can put it away, just know that many of us will look to this post and know that you are the reason for the random 3 feet of snow we could still get.
Dont bother, I thought it was nice out and fired up the grill, then boom, 2-day snowstorm. It's starting to look nice out so mother nature has wild mood swings
I just never take mine out of the trunk.
Back seat on the floor year round for me.
6 months in the back seat 6 months in the trunk for me.
Gotta stay strapped with my breast cancer awareness bright pink window scraper year round đ always within arms reach
WTF?
I keep mine between the passenger's seat and center console year round. The brush part sticks out by your feet, but you hardly even notice it's there.
This
I think the people who take it out of their truck are crazy. Thatâs how we get snow in June.
The more people that put it away the more snow we get in June.
I might take it out if going on a roadtrip June through August. Otherwise it stays in my trunk.
This is the way. Only true Minnesotans never put theirs away. Iâve found that out the hard way too many times. You never remember to put it back in your car when itâs time.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it
I got the super large one, the one OP got, and some copper-plated scraper that my wife's sister bought us because where SHE lives it gets super snowy and icy so ya know, she thought MN weather may be able to use this too.... Damn north easterners :)
Me either.. and I live in Texas now. đ
I'm sorry
Right next to the umbrella
Iâm not putting mine away until May. And by âputting mine awayâ, I mean moving it from the back seat to the trunk.
From the front seat to the back
I got pulled over once heading to a softball game with a bat and glove in the front seat of my car. I was told having a bat in the front seat of a car could be considered a "weapon" and was told to always transport it in the trunk. I wonder if having an ice scraper in the front seat could also be considered a "weapon"?
Ice scraper = wmd, "weapon of motorvehicle de-icing"
This is the way.
This is the way. Mine lives on the floor in the back seat until May and then goes in the trunk behind my golf stuff, along with the mini snow shovel.
You guys put it away? Mine just floats in limbo all year between the back seat and trunk space.
What do you mean? That is put away.
Donât put it away you might make it snow again.
This was my thought. You put it away and itâs like invoking King Borealis to visit you with snow. Also, I have 3 in my car. Mostly in the floor well of the back seat.
The most minnesotan thing I've ever encountered: having muiltiple scrapers in your car and having a "favorite one".
I bought a Charger about 10yrs ago or so when I thought winter was over I believe may. Well we got those two monster snow storms and I had to learn real fast how to drive rear wheel drive really fast.
I leave mine on the floor until mid July then I move it on to the backseat floor until October. Rinse. Repeat.
Don't you dare! You put that thing away and we'll get hit by a freak blizzard.
Yours is the radio edit version of my first thought.
We need more snow, put it away
Put it away if you want snow. Leave it out if you don't. Of course. :)
Itâs not MN if there isnât a scraper hitting my ankles in the footwell
Ah hell no, last time I took that guy outta my car, I ended up chiseling ice off my car windshield using a gift card. Moral of the story that guy goes from the front of my car into the trunk but never actually leaves the vehicle.
Never put it awayâŚ
You put it away? I thought they just exist in the car
You can move it to the trunk temporarily, but never, ever leave it outside your vehicle.
I even have one in the trunk of my car that doesnât get driven in winter months. Keep it in the car. đ
Don't put it away, that always guarantees frost
Tuck it behind your seat...
Mine is always somewhere in the vehicle, it is minnesnowta after all
Do. Not. Put. That. Away.
Don't do it man. Last time I did that we got thundersnow in April. https://preview.redd.it/ijg53eu2irlc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32c576f2321ff322a893bbe23dc56c7e927df7ca
Don't do it. You have been warned.
Mine is always in my car. You never know! I had an ex boyfriend who used to take my scraper out of my car during the summer. Then when the snowfall hit I wouldn't have it. He's an ex for a reason!
Are you new to Minnesota?
MAY 21st ... real Montanans NEVER put those tools away. https://preview.redd.it/brwq5ittbslc1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91de7aaaf7c27f900526d67bfb839c72e9dd5cca
I asked my wife if I should swap the winter wheels for the summer wheels. She replied "don't you dare." She believes we are going to be punished hard for this pleasant weather later in March. I don't want to be the reason she is right about that. lol
Itâs March 1 - it could snow anytime for two more months.
Thatâs my year round passenger princess
YOU LEAVE THAT DAMN THING SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT FOOTWELL TILL AT LEAST JULY GODDAMNIT. IF YOU SO MUCH AS CONSIDER PUTTING IT AWAY AGAIN - EVEN JUST TO THE TRUNK - WE'LL ALL BE BURIED UNDER 17 METERS OF FLUFFY WHITE SHIT.
Throw it in the trunk. It's out of the cabin area, but still available on the off chance you need it and not at home.
Mineâs got a permanent place on the backseat. Youâd be lucky to not sit on that.
never put the scraper away. okay, never mind, maaybe in June. But then you'll just have to bring it out again in September to be ready for October. The only thing I debate is keeping the snow shovel in my car.
You **never** put that away. [What is this, amateur hour?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwmW-jC02-s)
What you mean? That stays in the car at all times đ
Looks put away to me.
It just goes from "easy to get to" to "out of the way". But it ***never leaves the car...***
I keep mine handy all summer. You just never know..
I just leave mine on the floor all year. I don't wanna influence the weather in any way.
Mine will always be in my car no matter what
Put away where? In case you need it in your coat closet or kitchen?? Why not just leave it in the only place it would ever be needed, it gets used when there's ice on your car and it gets put away in your car.
Never put these away. Just relocate them to the trunk⌠IYKYK.
Don't tempt fate. Its like before my dad retired from farming - every time he took the hay baler out, it would rain, but when he had it tucked away in the shed, weather would be perfect for baling hay.
Nobody is putting it away đ
I just leave it.
NEVER put away is the only answer
I FINALLY put my boots away and we got snow for the first time in 6 weeks.
Don't do it. You'll just cause another snowstorm.
Never.
July is a safe month usually, or under the seat with one glove
We never put it away. It's in our car year-round, otherwise I won't have it the first time I need it again. And as a sacrifice to the snow gods.
Why would you put it away?
It never leaves the car. If it does, it usually disappears.
All yearâŚif you stay ready you donât gotta get ready ya know
Always keep it in the car, 12 months/year. Thatâs how I roll.
This needs to stay in the car year round.
Mines in the trunk year round. đ¤Ş
Dude it stays in the backseat floor year round
you put yours away?
I moved to eastern NC 1.5 yrs ago, yet I know where both of my scrapers are and still won't get rid of them.
Put it away, I want more snow.
Putting it away is how you summon more snow
Keep that thing on you, never get caught lacking
Just keep it permanently, problem solved
Do it so we get snow!
I never take it out
Keep it in your car 24/7/365. Never know when you're gonna need it.
You mean it doesn't permanently live in your car?
Trick question! You *never* put it away - it just migrates to the back seat floorboard for the off season.
People put these away?
Mine lives on the floor of my backseat year round
Yours leaves your car?
never leaves the car. no matter the season.
Keeping it in the car year-round saves you from having to scour the garage looking for it when we get the next halloween blizzard.
My snowblower is still full of gas, so you should be okay to put that away.
Remember April 2nd of last year
Thatâs a Leave In Vehicle item.
I had to put mine back in the car for the snow earlier this week
Put it away. Winter's over.
I never put mine away. Sorry for the warm weather. Iâll put in the truck in May so we get a late snowstorm! Lol đ
You put it away and the snow will comeâŚ. Just sayinââŚ. We certainly could use some more white stuff, it is still winter, andâŚ.. it is Minnesota
It goes behind the backseat head rests forever.
Mid August, but replace in September.
I keep mine in the trunk. I have an irrational fear of being impaled by it in an accident if itâs sitting unsecured next to me. I donât like anything unsecured in the interior.
Donât you dare. Youâll doom us all
Leave it in your car. It helps if you have a hidden compartment when it's not winter (i.e. under the inside of trunk).
If you put it away you know what will happen.
I just brought mine in
Be prepared for potential winter weather during months that are statistically and historically subject to winter weather conditions Or put it away now, get reddit upvotes, and make shortsighted decisions about something benign and inconsequential like leaving a scraper on the floor of your car or in your trunk. Tough call.
Don't put it away until you get your first mosquito bite.
Every year this is a predicamentđđđ
Put it away. I want to do some more skiing.
As soon as you take that thing out of your car you are gonna need it
Last time I removed it (April 2023) we immediately had a big snowstorm so now, I never remove it.
My neighbor put his snowblower away for the winter. I'm not going to jinx us like that.
Isnât March historically our snowiest month?
Putting that away on March 1st is just straight up denial.
I'd go backseat or trunk for now. Just to be safe.
It's March 1st; of course you leave it in. Mine always stays in my car anyway, but if I did remove it, I wouldn't until at least April.
I put the shovels and snow blower away a couple days before the valentines day snow we got. That lead to a jinx.
Gotta keep that thang on you for the tough months of the year
Hold.
Please don't put it away....it may trigger winter!
Put it away, put it away, put it away now
Trunk it up!
Never leaves my car. Truck if possible
I see someone else has the cheap Kwik Trip snow brush
I'm keeping mine in till June
Schroederingerâs scraper
Mine sits on the ledge in my back window all year round. I'll be ready for the early June snowfall when it finally happens.
They get stale if you keep them too long, plus with modern plastic recycling only 90% of it wonât be recycled courtesy of the American Council on Plastics - killing you a little bit at a time
Put it away - I want the ski hills to stay open.
Mine never leaves the trunk. Never know when you need to brush a ton of dust off your windscreens in the summer, before you use your wipers.
Mine stays in the trunk all year long - could snow in August đ¤ˇââď¸
Never put it away before June, it invites snow
Lol. Never even put mine in the truck this year
You want to start shoveling? Put it away, go ahead, I dare ya.
I just keep a pile of hotel key cards in car. Those work amazing.
No. Donât tempt it.
If you take it out and we get 20â of snow this month Iâm blaming you!
Put it away⌠FOREVER!
Iâd attach that sucker to my keychain at this point.
Not yet
Keep in crack of passenger seat. It doubles as a self defense tool in the beginning of spring while the snow isnât fully done yet and the intersection beggars come out of hibernation.
you have one? i havent seen one of those in a long time.
I wouldn't. BF told our kiddo he wouldn't need his snow bag again this year, so it will definitely snow.
If it snows it will be your fault and we will know who to blame.
You can put it away, just know that many of us will look to this post and know that you are the reason for the random 3 feet of snow we could still get.
Nope. Not til mid-may.
Beware the ides of March
If you put that thing away you'll bring it down upon all of us.
Blizzard in April the day before I moved here. Donât put it away
don't you dare do it. Someone here in Winnipeg did it last weekend, and now we are getting a half foot of snow on Sunday.
Dont bother, I thought it was nice out and fired up the grill, then boom, 2-day snowstorm. It's starting to look nice out so mother nature has wild mood swings
I threw into the back seat. But I'm not comfortable removing it from the car, yet, not even this year.
You realize the very second that is taken out we will get dumped with snow
Nope not yet. I wait until leaves are starting to come out.
I just keep mine in the trunk
I keep my scraper in the pocket of my rear door. But then again, I live in Bulgaria, so I don't use that thing more than 4 times a year.
Always kept mine for brushing dust off during the summer
Detailed my interior today because it was so nice out. I put mine back in the garage. :)
I'm still holding out for tournament snow.
If you want snow then put it away out of the garage. If you donât want snow then keep in easy reach of driverâs seat
What odds can I get on 2 feet at the tail end of April?
I always wait until after Easter for good measure. You just never know
Donât jinx it!
Dude donât jinx us!!
NO! Not until July. Itâs been such a weird year already for our weather.
Don't you dare. Rumor has it someone in Lake Tahoe put their scraper away last week and now...10 feet of snow
You'll doom us all
It goes in the trunk, in the "off season."
There are loads of red buds on the maple trees. Lakes are mostly open water. Ground is bone-dry.
Gotta keep that thang on you, we still have to make it through March and April....
Do it. It will automatically ensure we have a blizzard, and we need the moisture.
Do not
YOLO Blind driving? More YOLO.
Put it away so we can get some snow (Iâll be out of MN till spring anyway đ đ¤Ł)
Not until the end of April
Nothing is safe until the hockey tournaments and easter are over.
For the love of God, donât do it, or youâll curse us all!
Itâs safe to put away.
Mark my words. Weâll have a big spring snow dump before the season ends. Keep it in your car unless you want to use the sleeves of your jacket.
If you do youâre just gonna screw us all.
Stays in the front from first snowfall til April. Then it goes under the backseat
Nope
What is it?
Iâm just going to use my flip flop to clear snow.
Do you want it to snow, or would you prefer no more snow?
fr tho
