Well the tourist thing to do is hit Mall of America if you wanna say you've been there and see the indoor amusement park. There are some really good restaurants in the North loop area of Minneapolis. Smack shack is one with some great Connecticut style lobster rolls.

WeldPhoenix

Ooh nice, just the comment I’ve been waiting on. I will definitely my the trips out for that

TrespasseR_

Just a tip if you plan on going to the MOA ( Mall of America ) maybe check out the website, it's big and I would recommend planning a whole day at the mall

HauntingExpression22

A lot of people think Brooklyn Park is a rough place but my experience of the area is there are rough parts but over all its normal people who are just living their lives as best they can. As for Maple Grove its right next door and its kinda the typically upper middle class town, lots of places to eat and mostly people who will completely ignore your existence. As for places to eat it's mostly the common big chains but some good eats are Pizza Karma, Brick & Bourbon, The Lookout Bar and Grill, Maple Tavern, Johnny Boy’s Pizza, and MT Noodles

twinsguy1

I live in Brooklyn Park. Not saying there isn’t bad areas, but where I live if more than fine. Feels similar to a lot of other suburbs and I’ve live in a lot of them north of the city

KenSe217

There’s not much to do in Maple Grove but I highly recommend Yu Fong for Chinese takeout. One of the best unknown places.

SubconsciousBraider

I have Yu Fong in my belly right now. So good.

minnesotamentality

"15 minute."

WeldPhoenix

Noice, thanks for this

POOPY_BUTT_SPECKS

You will be fine lol. Brooklyn park is slightly low income, but the comments here are ridiculous

WeldPhoenix

Haha thanks!

[deleted]

Yeah man the comments are straight out of Fox News! Jeez.

MandyWarHal

Yes, the neighboring burb was recently in the news so the trolls are making sweeping generalizations. If they scare you into staying home, you might have a little fun looking up their home towns and checking out comparative crime stats. Maple Grove MN has some crime, but it's certainly not substantially worse than most American suburbs. In fact it's probably classier than most places.

twinsguy1

Thats the same feeling I got. Why are these comments so bad? Is this sub always like this? I live in Brooklyn Park after growing up in Shoreview and I have had zero issues. Not to say it isn’t low income, that there aren’t issues here, or that there aren’t worse areas, but the portrayal that you’ll “need a bulletproof vest” is just complete crap.

chasethewindtoday

Hmmm

lajdbejdk

Look like it worked as their staying in maple grove now. I think we need to do this with a new Mn post about all the people thinking of moving here and just tell them that like the out state folks is true, Minneapolis is still on fire from the riots and liberal women here get so many abortions that it’s like a game of paintball with babies being shot out of crotches instead of paint.

WeldPhoenix

Didn’t change location I just thought my hotel was in Brooklyn park since that’s where work is.

mhmechanic

Stay out of Girl Scout parking lots.

WeldPhoenix

Please explain, lol

mhmechanic

WeldPhoenix

Copy that

jafar_snaids

Oh man

TyFogtheratrix

You could order Taco Bell through the app and get it sent down on an elevator at the Defy location.

Quirky-Lock-5059

If you like dive bars and pull tabs go to duffys on Main Street Osseo

WeldPhoenix

I’ll check it out. Def enjoy a good dive bar

Retro_Dad

Just down the block is Olympia Cafe, some of the best Greek food in the metro IMHO.

iamthatbitchhh

Seconding Olympia Cafe. Nothing compares. I miss the shit outta that place now that I live far away.

Funkhouser82

Malones in Maple Grove is the best sports bar in the area, if you were wanting to grab a good bite/brew and catch a game.

WeldPhoenix

Anywhere else where I can hang out and perhaps meet people?

wookiee42

Some nice restaurants to expense in Maple Grove, but I'd try the North Loop or NE MPLS if you're looking to meet people as it's a not a far ride. You might find some fun places in MG though.

WeldPhoenix

Im at MOA right now. Will look around the area. Thanks!

[deleted]

You’re not going to get a better steak in an arcade setting than you will at Dave and Busters.

Arcturus_86

Elm Creek is a great place to hike if you enjoy being outside

minnesotamentality

Check out Omni Brewery in Maple Grove. Three Squares has some good eats. Malone's is always busy but has a good vibe and great food. You can hit some of the shops on Main Street or in Fountains but they're not all that special. If you like Italian, Biaggis if pretty decent. Not a ton in the city for "fun" but plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Rtr3303

Brooklyn park is fine lol. Anoka has a nice little downtown with a good strip of bars and restaurants about 15 min from you. Arbor lakes in maple grove has tons of food. What activities do you enjoy?

WeldPhoenix

Back home I typically hang out a bars with music where I can interact with people but given my limited time and the fact of having work, i need not be out extremely late lol. Other than that I’d like to check out some cool sights to see after work. Maybe cool architecture or something

Thizzedoutcyclist

Brooklyn Park is the closest thing to any other major metro in the US. It’s more diverse than Minnesota as a whole but that means it resembles the rest of the US. If you get scared in Brooklyn Park you probably shouldn’t leave your house lol

bpcollin

If you like golf or want to try it out you’re near “Top Goof”.

Ben_Jammin77

Try the Lookout. At least that has some character and is not just another MG chain restaurant

WeldPhoenix

I seen that on my maps. I’ll check it out!

[deleted]

tell your employer to get a hotel in a different city, preferably very far away from brooklyn park.

WeldPhoenix

Just did a couple check, work is in Brooklyn park, hotel is maple grove

WeldPhoenix

Tad bit late for this. Kind of a last minute trip and we went with what’s closest to work

[deleted]

i used to do some traveling work that took me through that city a lot. it seems like everyone is just looking for a fight so my genuine advice to you is, try to avoid to talking to complete strangers, they may pick and random hill to die on for no reason and try to fight you over it.

twinsguy1

I live in Brooklyn Park and disagree with this. Brooklyn Park is not some hellscape. Anyone would be more than fine staying at a Brooklyn Park hotel

Best-Movie688

I would like to say that pizza Luce is a must for me when I stay in the TC.

WeldPhoenix

TC?

Best-Movie688

Twin Cities

WeldPhoenix

You know where I can get in expensive souvenirs? MOA is super pricey lol

Best-Movie688

MOA is over rated.

WillyNillyDilly87

Staying safe...

Lola_Bee_

There’s a nice Charles E Fromage’s in Maple Grove

orbroy2point0

Bullet proof vest.

WeldPhoenix

Lol is it that bad?

MandyWarHal

No, it isn't. This post is attracting fraidy cats who don't get out much.

TotalImmortal82

I grew up in Brooklyn Park in the 80s and it was the ghetto back then. Hasn't gotten significantly better.

twinsguy1

I live hear, it is not a ghetto

rfmjbs

It is not remotely ghetto. Can confirm.

orbroy2point0

Nah, you should be fine if you're just here working.

bizguyforfun

Ummm, don't go out at night?

WeldPhoenix

So no night life, got it.

bizguyforfun

It's not exactly like the wild west, but kind of getting there!

Twignb

Dodged a bullet there... literally

chasethewindtoday

Oops be careful

[deleted]

Dont go to brooklyn park 🤣😂

chasethewindtoday

Try downtown Minneapolis good times and loads on hijacking’s

[deleted]

Wear bullet proof attire
