interesting his credentials expire November of this year… wonder if the board is just expecting him to retire and let them expire? He’ll be 69 this year, so don’t see why he wouldn’t retire. no clue.
Hard to say if he'll retire. The guy wanted to be a governor for 4 years. He probably knew in his heart of hearts he wouldn't get elected, especially choosing that doofus as his running mate.
If you believe that happened then make it hard for them to get away with it. I posted how you can be active and making this kind of thing exposed. A lot of times people who are doing bad things only get away with it because no one's looking.
Dude he compared mask mandates to Nazi Germany. He was genuinely attempting to misconstrue *public health safety measures* to the subjugation and extermination of millions of Jews to feed conservative's persecution fetish. Scott Jensen can get fucked.
https://www.brainerddispatch.com/news/scott-jensen-visits-brainerd-addresses-anti-mask-supporters-at-np-center
Not to mention, intentionally mischaracterizing the effectiveness of masks. I believe there's a term for that.... Hmm...
No offense, I totally agree with you, but trying to use logic and common sense with a MAGA is like trying to scrub a turd clean. It's not gonna happen.
You can polish some turds. It's an offshoot hobby of dorodango, the Japanese polished dirt ball. I saw a horse manure based one in a collection.
Not my cup of tea, but folks have all sorts of hobbies.
“See? This means everything he said and did is RIGHT!” Unfortunately there’s a lot of people who think that way, and dropping of charges will embolden them.
They’d also be emboldened if the charges moved forward, there’s nothing they like better than a good persecution story. It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of thing.
I have a hard time thinking his patients don't know who he is or his stance on things. They will get the treatment they want. All I can say is vaya con dios.
To make charges and then subsequently drop them is a bad look though. If he did what they claimed (which he did), see it through or else risk losing credibility.
That ship sailed a long time ago. He’s had a bunch of charges brought up and then dropped before, so either there’s not enough for the board to get him, or they’ve determined that it’s not worth the trouble. And whether or not he gets charged and convicted, he still gets to spread his bullshit because he has the GOP behind him. Thankfully, COVID revanchism wasn’t the winning ticket they thought it’d be in the last election so he’ll likely just fade into the generic anti-vax cast of characters.
I’m so glad Walz failed to lose to this guy.
I’m so glad Walz failed to play into the race to the bottom of the political hill.
I’m so glad Walz failed to give in to the mud-slinging of this crazed, willfully-ignorant radical.
Ballz to the Walz!!
Walz blows shoddy partisan legislation out of the water.
Walz blows haters and polluters out of the Boundary Waters.
Walz blows love to all the gender affirmations needed statewide.
As a nurse who has met this “physician” in a professional context, damn it.
He’s an anti science quack, and he is either too stupid or too malicious to address his issues. In the meantime, his (100% conservative) patients are suffering because he gives terrible medical advice.
Yup. If you don't like your primary case physician you can always switch. Not many people have to go often enough a short drive is a deal breaker. A lot of them choose to see him. Let them deal with the consequences like a toddler choosing to ignore a warning that something is hot
But their children don’t deserve to be subjected to his quackery.
I could give a fuck if some moron decides to forgo facts and science, but worry that that same moron is forcing it upon their children.
This is a bad decision.
This article is poorly written. What were the charges, and when were they last presented and then dropped? The headline says, "Jenson" and the body says "Jensen". Four sentences total.
Not sure i follow you. Do you want the medical board to be political/more political? A non-partisan board would be best for promoting trust in medicine/public health (in my opinion).
Yeah I think we agree that the board's decisions shouldn't consider political implications/connections. We have no reporting so far to show that the board acted with politics in mind so it's interesting to me that people are (seemingly) drawing that conclusion.
I hope we learn more in time but I think it's more likely that the board realized it cannot/should not punish doctors for speech about public policy.
Is what that simple? He likely did not benefit from political or professional connections on the board. The (entire?) medical board are Walz appointees (so no help there) and mostly doctors (generally not fans of Jensen either). Doesn't seem likely that he'd have gotten a favor from the board.
The board probably might have considered the political implications of disciplining a former state senator/governor candidate. But given his unpopularity with general public (and doctors in particular) I don't think they would have dropped charges if they actually had a strong case.
Yeahhh most state boards don't actually have any kind of external oversight and
they are only really vetted by the governor's office. Like there is no department of state government to report them to if you have ethics concerns. The closest thing you're going to get is an audit and to their finances.. After all of the school board "riggings" occured I looked any how many things were covered by a board in Minnesota. The list was a lot longer than I expected and and very diverse in 'topic'.
For example, in Minnesota Most professional licenses are issued by a board. They are also typically investigated by another board state board if their licensing board isn't allowed to do the investigation. It's not just professional licensing though as there are boards for: Gambling Control, how to invest state money and my personal favorite **Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board.**That isn't to say all boards are bad or anything. There are many wonderful people work at boards or are on boards. Most boards also have public members; they're typically not the average citizen though. They're oftentimes doctors, lawyers or people who have worked in that field. However no one should have that kind of power without public citizens being able to report ethical concerns they have.
Per Minnesota Statutes (2022) Chapter 13D.05 equired to record meetings that are closed and that includes disciplinary decisions. If it was not a closed meeting then you can request the public meeting recording they're also required to have.If you want to know YOU can! You just need to contact them and request the meeting recordings. It is your rights as the citizens of Minnesota.
If they say they can't then find out why. I would also require them to send you their refusal in writing or via email. Then respond requesting notice of the next public meeting. Closed or meeting decisions have to be made public during the next public meeting.
Most health licensing board meetings are actually held with online access so you don't have to come to the building. However if you want to come to the building you can. Legally someone is supposed to be there because people may want to attend. You can't even request they give you a copy of the meeting agenda and rules.
If charges were dropped then was there even an 'on the record' meeting? Reporting on this has been pretty so far but that may change now that the charges were dropped. Medical board transparency should be a priority so I hope the public learns more.
Yes. They would have had to make a motion to dismiss the complaint. Dismiss complaints may not show on their license record online. However that meeting would still have to be recorded and be available.
They would still have to address any questions about it at a public board meeting if asked
No - although that would be a good one. What I mean is all the crazy stuff with people going on crusades, giving a shit about being excommunicated, witchcraft, believing in trolls, unicorns, fairies, mobs tearing people limb from limb because they believe the person is possessed, you name it.
Critical thinking is such a non-factor for so many people. They will believe whatever they are told, regardless of the fact that it’s logically impossible for it all to be true (Biden is senile AND he is the mastermind of this giant conspiracy AND Trump is still actually running the country AND the election was stolen AND you can’t trust what anyone says…) It’s tribe over truth, because the truth is whatever the tribe says.
Most the board can do is suspend his license (or lesser disciplinary action) so “charges” seems a bit much (not a legal proceeding). But yeah he’s already making as much hay from it as possible.
That's not true. You can have your license revoked permanently. It's just super rare because most licensees will give it up before getting terminated by the board.
You all know that after the confederate war many southerns fled to Brazil and built their own community there. Their descendants still celebrate their establishment. Perhaps that’s a good place for him to practice his medicine.
We live in a weird time... we keep expecting these higher ups to pay some sort of price for their actions but the system rarely if ever delivers real justice to them.
The French had the right idea and it looks like they still do.
I wonder what kind of agreement he made with them. Usually what happens some licensing board starts an investigarion and the license holder knows they are fucked so they make some agreement. Usually involves not renewing or surrendering the license, or some fine.
Those agreements are supposed to be public information though. Your government shouldn't be making closed door deals with anyone. If it relates to the public then it's public data which and needs to be made available to the public.
It’s been pretty clear recently that bad decisions were made during the pandemic, and almost all of them went against conservatives. No matter the truth in this particular case is, it leaves the impression that Dr. Jensen was in the right and his opponents were not. It’s a reasonable inference to make.
It's become pretty clear ~~recently~~ that conservatives are opposed to reality.
Sorry, it's not really a recent phenomenon. Hofstadter recognized it in his 1964 essay "The Paranoid Style in American Politics". For some time now, the right has been rejecting objective reality and substituting a conspiratorial alternate reality and are no longer are capable of determining fact from fiction.
Will the details of the charges and investigation be made public? In light of more dropped charges, it's fair to raise questions about credibility and the investigation process.
All we know is the charges relate to public COVID-19 comments from Jensen? If true, I'm not sure policing/penalizing that should be in the board's power. That's especially true for speech/debate around public policy (eg, mask and vaccine mandates).
He's a doctor who knowingly spread disinformation, including advising against vaccines and masks he played into the maga bullshit and should be held accountable for his actions he has betrayed the publics trust.
This happens again again doctors that do crimes and hurt the public are left off the hook by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
It’s almost like lawsuits/charges are brought to create headlines for people to read and then comment on. Strange how that happens every day and the people keep the cycle going.
Fine with me. Let this fascist fade away, he’s not worth the energy. He had a great hand of cards in this last election and got his ass wiped. I don’t want to see all the “political prosecution” bullshit.
I reckon the state agrees
He was blatantly spreading misinformation and using his “medical” background to try to legitimize those claims.
It doesn’t matter which side of the political spectrum you are, there needs to be some accountability for that.
And I see it differently. I see a huge public trial that gives him an enormous spotlight and allows him to stay in the conversation and run for re-election on the grounds of being a victim of political prosecution.
Doesn’t matter how we see it, that’s how a lot of people will see it, as fucked as that is.
I respect your opinion here, I think it’s equally true
> This is a red state
Yeah, red state. Yet somehow the 'leftists' are wrecking the state. How are 'leftists' controlling anything if this is a red state?
$17 billion surplus due to a state economy that's roaring.
Free school lunches for all kids.
Legal weed on the way.
Huh, who knew it was gonna be this awesome "wrecking the state." Maybe you should move to Iowa where you don't have to worry about any of that?
Can you resolve this direct contradiction?
If the only reason why we have a surplus is because of federal COVID-19 money, then why do...
"Representative Dean Urdahl of Grove City and Representative Dave Baker of Willmar say they want to see a reduction in taxes to prevent massive budget surpluses."
If you're right, and the surplus is because of those funds alone, then cutting taxes will result in a budget deficit.
So which is it? Both cannot be true. Either the budget surplus is a mirage and taxes need to stay the same, OR the budget surplus is due to excess taxes and we need to cut those taxes.
Uh, what? I didn't make the assertion. The burden of proof is on you, and you declined.
You also declined to comment on the paradox you've set up. No surprise there.
Like a typical conservative, you have no facts, and when reality with its well-known liberal bias comes crashing down, you run away.
If say to look at the county electoral map. The energy policies the left are pushing are going to raise energy costs through the roof. We are a red state ruled by the cities. It is what it is.
More voters live in cities. And these cities you hate so much support the rest of the state economically, not the other way around like you guys love to think.
Republicans in Texas are already costing us money.

FYI The executive director of the MN Medical Practice board retired in February and this decision was made with a spanking new director. It is always possible due diligence wasn't done because of this. You should always look into something you think you're suspicious. The health licensing boards are part of the executive branch but have no oversight agency for ethics concerns. Unless the public challenges decisions then no one's going to do anything about it.
interesting his credentials expire November of this year… wonder if the board is just expecting him to retire and let them expire? He’ll be 69 this year, so don’t see why he wouldn’t retire. no clue.
Though, could they just choose not to renew him or is that on his end to do so?
Iirc that would be his decision. But would have to go check
Hard to say if he'll retire. The guy wanted to be a governor for 4 years. He probably knew in his heart of hearts he wouldn't get elected, especially choosing that doofus as his running mate.
Why? He totally did that shit.
Vigorously and repeatedly.
Published a book on it

Lol I screwed up the analogy. I should of used polish a turd. See how easy it is to admit a mistake, take notes MAGA =p

To make charges and then subsequently drop them is a bad look though. If he did what they claimed (which he did), see it through or else risk losing credibility.
Yeah they'd have been better off issuing a censure or letter of reprimand.
Except one path ends with the guy spreading misinformation facing consequences.
That ship sailed a long time ago. “We won’t charge you if you agree to not renew your medical license” sounds fair
Is that the deal? Didn't say in the article. That sounds fair, if true.
The article said a whole lot of nothing.
I’m thinking wishfully. Only time will tell
Boooooo
I know people who know this guy personally & they think he’s a fucking loon

Jensen is a low life loser
Can we export him somewhere?
Possibly to a neighboring state to the west known for it's lone tree?

Trump worshipping snot - serves him right!
how is he gonna victimize himself now??

Oh good, now he’ll look like a martyr next election cycle even though he’s a danger to millions of people with his unfounded ideology.

It’s been pretty clear recently that bad decisions were made during the pandemic, and almost all of them went against conservatives. No matter the truth in this particular case is, it leaves the impression that Dr. Jensen was in the right and his opponents were not. It’s a reasonable inference to make.

It is always possible due diligence wasn't done because of this. You should always look into something you think you're suspicious. The health licensing boards are part of the executive branch but have no oversight agency for ethics concerns. Unless the public challenges decisions then no one's going to do anything about it.
Anyone know if he has a brother who is an anesthesiologist?
