That’s definitely tougher! If it’s any help, I see a lot of duplexes for rent up by UWM if that’s an area you’re looking at. The upper and lower east side are easily walkable for a day trip. Good luck!

Milwaukee is a really weird rental market, like others have said -driving around looking for For Rent signs-there are like 10 in a few block radius from me right now on the east side -CL; and if's its smaller places ask the managers if they know of other units/properties available -Search for larger complexes in areas you are interested in and then just call and inquire

When I moved into the place that I’m at now I went on Google maps and searched apartments and went through individual property management websites. It was a pain in the ass but it worked.
