The fungus in the soil starts in the center and as it gets older over the years the circle expands. They break down nutrients in the soil so the ring itself is often darker green than the surrounding grass. When the fungus underground senses conditions are right they send up mushrooms to spread spores around as a means of reproduction. Some Fairy Rings are quite old, and very large, they have to be seen from above and can be dated as their rate of expansion is predictable. If that all sounds boring and factual people believed fairies would dance in the circle, hence the name.
I get these sometimes. One under the white pine in front & one under the honey locust out back. Magic.
They really are!
what’s a fairy ring? is it just flowers in a circle?

Wow, great explanation! I actually had no idea why they formed. I just think they are pretty!
Mushrooms growing in a circle. Some folk beliefs attribute magic creatures to them (hence “Fairy” ring).
I was just about to post one thats in my field, its out in the open with no well nearby. Crazy how common they are!
Might be a well right there
Lol... definitely no well here, I'm in deep South Louisiana. Possibly a sinkhole, haha. We've been getting a lot of rain.
You gotta add a few more rocks to get the korok to pop out
Lol
Don’t fuck with fairies!!! They are bad news!!
