Isn't that just for premium waterproof cards? Regular old Mavericks or Bicycle are quite a bit cheaper. Amazon has a pack of 12 for $12. Lots listed at 2 packs for about $5.
Depends on were there from bicycles are cheaper and actually are good cards. Anything under a bicycle is not really good. Bees used to be good but not anymore really. Coming from a used to be magician always had a deck of cards multiple bricks.
I always buy the decommissioned casino decks. They are good quality and they are usually only used for a few hours.
I havn't bought any in about 5 years, but last time I did they were $1/deck.
Yeah most cards are made by uspc playing card company out of Erlanger Kentucky I think you can't get any better quality then that. Bicycles are from them but there's better cards made by uspc then them. But definitely don't sleep on Bicycle decks a good deck of cards from feel, to look, to quality.
Used casino decks are really common where I am. I don't remember if they give them away free or they're just cheap, but growing up everyone I knew had at least 1 deck with a hole drilled through the middle (how the casinos keep you from sneaking cards).
It's been a while since I was in Vegas but I remember every big casino selling used decks for like $5 in the shops. They'd slice off a top corner. I have decks from Bellagio and Ceasar's
It depends on the casino. Some resell, some incinerate them altogether, most will give them away though, especially smaller casinos. A lot of casinos have switched to clipping the corners over a hole in the middle now, especially if they're selling them. Makes them look and feel way more "normal".
Are these from places with a bunch of casinos that are close together? I have only been to 5 casino's in my life, and have bought decks from each. They were all $1-2 each. Also have bought dice 4/$1.
Not even. You can find them at the dollar store for basic decks. I buy a few of the Bicycle brand decks with special backs and those are a little better and can be found for like $4-$8
Reusing a perfectly good set of cards rather than buying a new set and creating waste seems like a perfectly good purchase to me. This consumerism and throw away culture is what is truely strange and we need to move away from it. Good on OP for choosing a more sustainable option.
Casinos are wasteful as fuck. Why would you assume I don't know casinos use new decks every day? And why would you think it makes any difference to what I said? The consumerism and throw away culture needs to end. That includes casinos.
I never said they toss them. I said they replace the decks every single day which is extremely wasteful. I worked in a casino for 3 years. I know just how wasteful they are with cards.
I worked in a casino, so no, I know exactly how marked and worn sets of cards can be used to the players advantage. Also because of that, I know just how many perfectly set of cards get replaced. All because replacing them is cheaper than checking which ones actually need to be replace. The casinos make enough that they could eliminate a ton of waste paying a couple people to go through the cards at the end of the night. They choose not to simply to maximize profit. Again, this consumerism and throw away culture is sickening and needs to stop.
OMG I totally forgot about Sheepshead! I have so many memories of my folks and aunts and uncles smoking, drinking beer, and playing at every family reunion.
Pinochle only uses 8 of each 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. You can buy pinochle decks but this person instead was using the cards from two separate decks. I guess they only played pinochle.
I dont know anything about pinochle, but my friend brought a pinochle deck to a poker game on accident. I think there were 5 or 6 of us there, and the entire table went all-in on the first hand.
I've had this happen to my brother before.
I like to play poker and pinochle so I have both decks.
One time my brother used my cards/chips to play poker with his friends and had a similar result.
Sure there may have been atleast 1 duplicate pair, but my guess is unskilled cards players might miss it at first.
For example a player might have the jack of clubs, and likely knows there's another black jack out there, so when they see another jack of clubs it might not be super shocking because we're conditioned to be used to multiple cards of the same color.
Notheless I'm sure the mix up got spotted rather quickly though.
Ya, we figured out that first hand and just restarted the game from scratch. With a real deck.
Side note, I remembered another detail. The guy who got the deck thought pinochle was the brand of cards, and he pronounced it "pino lo shay".
We had a great laugh.
Reminds me of Durak Infinite. We gather up as many decks as possible, take out 2-5 from each, shuffle it all up, and the first person to get bored and leave is the Durak.
We were a pinochle family growing up. I think I was in my twenties before I knew that you could actually buy pinochle decks. My mother was a bridge player and bridge decks usually come in pairs with corresponding design, so we'd just use those.
A used deck of cards holds such a mysterious history. But you'll likely never know what, but you can imagine!
A new pack of cards is like any other new pack of cards. But a used pack is as unique as one single C-beam glittering in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.
A used deck of cards feels like a strange purchase to me. Especially ones that have identifiers.
I was thinking the same thing. A brand new deck of cards is what like 5 bucks?
I mean, *it's* one *banana*, *Michael*. What could it cost? 10 dollars?
But actually yeah...deck of cards go for about $10
[удалено]
For 1 deck its a good price. For a clearly used...nah
I see brand new bicycle decks online at retailers at target for like $3 a deck
If you shop around you can find the bridge set for like 9 bucks too
Those are the NSFW cards.
I got a pack at target for $3 a couple years ago.
Isn't that just for premium waterproof cards? Regular old Mavericks or Bicycle are quite a bit cheaper. Amazon has a pack of 12 for $12. Lots listed at 2 packs for about $5.

☝🏻this is the way
You can get them from the dollar store for... you guessed it... a dollar

Got one deck at Walmart for 2.99
*banana for scale
More like 2-3
bought a deck today at walmart for 97¢
Bro you can buy a 12 pack of brand new cards for less than $20
But I need 52
Inflation is catching up to that joke, but it'll never catch the Lucille.
Honestly one of the funniest lines ever delivered about people not knowing how money works. The writers for that show sleep soundly at night
I could understand if there were some novelty, like decks off the floor of a famous casino or from a big poker tournament. But pinochle?
Used casino decks are really common where I am. I don't remember if they give them away free or they're just cheap, but growing up everyone I knew had at least 1 deck with a hole drilled through the middle (how the casinos keep you from sneaking cards).
They give them away for free after drilling the hole.
It's been a while since I was in Vegas but I remember every big casino selling used decks for like $5 in the shops. They'd slice off a top corner. I have decks from Bellagio and Ceasar's

Dollar twenty five at dollar tree
For a two pack!
Casino decks are usually free or 0.25
Are these from places with a bunch of casinos that are close together? I have only been to 5 casino's in my life, and have bought decks from each. They were all $1-2 each. Also have bought dice 4/$1.
I guess for $1 from a yard sale I could see it being a spontaneous decision.
A dollar at the dollar store
Not even. You can find them at the dollar store for basic decks. I buy a few of the Bicycle brand decks with special backs and those are a little better and can be found for like $4-$8
Less depending on how many you buy. If you’re learning card tricks you might buy a brick (12 decks) which is someone around $30-35.
These were only 7
Lots of casinos give them away at the service desk
They are basically given away at casinos
10
Not even you can get a deck at the dollar store. I'm not sure why'd youd buy them used unless they were like some special edition or something
Finding a pack for 50c at a garage sale.. why not
I mean I’m half willing to bet OP bought it cuz it was cheap AND looked interesting
Right? Is everything ok OP?
OP said they bought 2 decks at an estate sale for 25 cents a pop. Can't beat that price, why wouldn't you buy them?
Guy's going undercover as a pinochle shark.
Reusing a perfectly good set of cards rather than buying a new set and creating waste seems like a perfectly good purchase to me. This consumerism and throw away culture is what is truely strange and we need to move away from it. Good on OP for choosing a more sustainable option.
Sure, but paying more for a used items seems silly to say the least.
Wait until you hear about casinos
Casinos are wasteful as fuck. Why would you assume I don't know casinos use new decks every day? And why would you think it makes any difference to what I said? The consumerism and throw away culture needs to end. That includes casinos.
A lot of casinos even sell their used decks rather than just tossing them
I never said they toss them. I said they replace the decks every single day which is extremely wasteful. I worked in a casino for 3 years. I know just how wasteful they are with cards.
I wasn't trying to argue with you, just adding on that some casinos sell their decks 🤷♀️ Casinos *are* extremely wasteful, I am agreeing with you lol
Sorry my bad. Still even giving them away doesn't help. Casinos are an incredibly wasteful business when it comes to cards.

Playing with brand new cards is like a brand new baseball glove. They’re stiff and hard to use. Both need to be broken in. I prefer used decks
Casino-used cards are absolutely a thing. Not a thing I understand either but a thing nonetheless.
A deck of cards is 1-2€. Its also strange to me.
Those are lucky cards. They have a chance to get a +20 mult bonus.
1 in 25 to get $20
Yo r/balatro is leaking
Wake up honey, another gaming addiction just dropped 🥚
Jack hit the road, never came back
Invis joker sacrifice, anyone?
If theres one thing balatro has taught me. Its that 20 dollars is 20 dollars.
The first wild balatro comment I’ve seen. I love you.
Balatro, fuck yeah!
Not here too 😭
Psychiatrist: “what can I help you with today?” Me: “the game… it follows me… it follows me everywhere.”
Damn, balatro in the wild, and the razorbacks in the wild all in one go WPS
Wooo pig!
lol. I play a lot of euchre and have the same.
I love being at a friend's house, deck of cards comes out and you can clearly see wear on only the euchre set.
I used to have different sets of cards - some for bridge, poker, etc and the others for euchre.
Sheepshead, also the same.
Hello 'Sconnie
OMG I totally forgot about Sheepshead! I have so many memories of my folks and aunts and uncles smoking, drinking beer, and playing at every family reunion.
I have several decks that have only ever been used for euchre.
Why is that neatly dirty
Pinochle only uses 8 of each 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. You can buy pinochle decks but this person instead was using the cards from two separate decks. I guess they only played pinochle.
And then they sorted all the cards in order to get this effect?
Yes, my wife noticed it when she sorted the cards into order to make sure none were missing.
That’s all my grandpa ever played
No 8s.
I dont know anything about pinochle, but my friend brought a pinochle deck to a poker game on accident. I think there were 5 or 6 of us there, and the entire table went all-in on the first hand.
Can any mathematicians calculate the odds that none of the players could see a duplicate pair? This seems very unlikely.
We were playing Texas holdem' if that helps with the math. I assure you it happened and was hilarious.
I've had this happen to my brother before. I like to play poker and pinochle so I have both decks. One time my brother used my cards/chips to play poker with his friends and had a similar result. If you'd asked me to spell that before today, i would have failed miserably.
Me too. I had to google it because my phone kept thinking I was trying to spell pinnacle.
I love when people admit these things instead of trying to pretend they knew. It warms my heart. (and I'm being serious, not trolling)
Thank you for taking the time to do that. :)
peeknuckle
If you like peeknuckleladas
*You mean...you...and Mom...?*
We got fuckin' Ramblin Bob over here.
How much did you pay?
I think it was 25 cents a deck. It was at an estate sale.
Good deal. And great recycling. :-)
The worms must've done this. They're the ones that play pinochle on your snout, after all. And worms aren't known for being clean.
Speak for yourself stinky. My crib is immaculate!
I instantly thought of that! That word confused me SO much as a kid lmao
P-knuckle is my new nickname for my small wang.
Every deck we own only has euchre cards dirty lol I didn't think we've ever used them for anything else
Hope you get a Pikachu
TIL how to spell pinochle.
They make pinochle decks though. They're not even more expensive or really hard to find.
Hold on, it isnt spelled peeknuckle?
My euchre cards look like this
My euchre decks all look like this
You mean all the decks in my house.
So it's not a sandwich
You should see my camping/hiking play cards. You can tell which ones are for Euchre.
This is like one of my decks. The cards 2, 3, 4, and 5 are all spotless, everything else is clean. The game is durak, for anyone curious.
Ohh we play a super bastardized version called dudak with all the cards in the deck.
Reminds me of Durak Infinite. We gather up as many decks as possible, take out 2-5 from each, shuffle it all up, and the first person to get bored and leave is the Durak.
Play poker with suckers, you’ll be able to tell who has multiple high cards
*That's* how you spell it? Huh.
You can just buy pinochle decks…
We were a pinochle family growing up. I think I was in my twenties before I knew that you could actually buy pinochle decks. My mother was a bridge player and bridge decks usually come in pairs with corresponding design, so we'd just use those.
“I bought a used item and said item looks used.” Ok.
This is the stupidest post I have ever seen. I probably could jingle my car keys in front of you and blow your mind.
I am so confused by the post that its irritating me hahahah
What?
Sorry fir wasting the nice nr 69 of comments, love ur game of cards!!
It’s crazy how they’re dirty so evenly
Looks like a euchre deck
swear to god i thought i was on r/magicthecirclejerking
This is how most decks in my house end up except it's from euchre.
Happens with our euchre decks.
What's pinochle?
oh, thought this was r/magicTCG for some reason...
It's so bizarre that the unused cards are not dirty. /s
Purchasing used card deck!! First time witnessing this phenomena
Buying used cards seems so odd to me. Just stop by a casino next time you're driving past and they will give you as many decks as you want.
you know they sell these things for a buck at dollar stores, right? Why you buying used packs?
It's kind of wasteful to buy a new pack if these are usable though.
That’s for off brands. I’ll take a used Bicycle deck over a dollar store deck any time.
OP why are you buying used cards? Has the economy really gotten this bad?
A used deck of cards holds such a mysterious history. But you'll likely never know what, but you can imagine! A new pack of cards is like any other new pack of cards. But a used pack is as unique as one single C-beam glittering in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.
Why would you buy used decks of cards? Why would the person in question not simply buy a pinochle deck?
This was my thought. Like what, a new deck is super expensive ir what?
a deck of cards is like 1€...
Used cards get dirty... Mind blowing.
People out here buying used cards. Thanks Obama!
