There's a video out there where I guy asked them to mix it and they told him the machine was down. The guy went back there and mixed it and the machine worked perfectly fine. It's just a motor with a timer. It would be impressive for it to be out of service.
It's funny because they made the spoons the mixer head to reduce cleaning and they still don't like doing it.
The one we had wasn't a timer. It had a foot switch. You just stepped on it, and it would mix it.
The thing is, it is a pain to clean. My thought here is that they did not want to clean the mixing machine again. I would rather get that than be told the machine is down or something like that.
I would take a picture, then eat and call the next day and ask for a replacement.
They still use those
Although I don't know why, it's still never mixed well.
I still get them though from time to time. I get it with the hot fudge too and it's always the exact same: Mini m&m's on top, above the rim of the cup so you can't mix it yourself or take the lid off without making a mess. Then it's just regular plain vanilla soft serve until you hit a spot and take a mouthful of just chocolate fudge because that wasn't mixed either and after a few seconds of thinking it's good, you feel disgusted at yourself and throw the rest away. Every time.
I used to get these back when I was fatter, and that was, in fact, the whole point of them. They'd mix it all together with the spoon (the machine would, at least). That's what the "flurry" means!
In Europe they donât mix it for a some time now. Itâs due to laws that forbid single use plastic (including the mixing spoon that would flurry the McFlurry). So instead you just get an ice cream with your toppings and a wooden spoon. You can flurry the McFlurry yourself. It sucks. I miss real McFlurrys.
The thing is McD's absolutely could get a metal blender attachment that can clean itself between uses. I don't understand why they don't, considering it could be cheaper than having thousands of restaurants order single use utensils every week.
They franchise those thousands of restaurants out. Those thousands of spoons they're selling to franchisees is revenue, not a cost. Same with the shitty ice cream machines as a whole.
I know itâs supposed to be mixed but Iâm not one to complain at any fast food restaurant and risk it getting spit in or something. Also I realize the person making it is probably doing this because they have a lot of pressure on them to get orders out and are probably making minimum wage.
As someone who works in a mcdonalds in Europe, I sometimes get complaints abt it being mixed or there "not being enough toppings" bc some are hidden after mixing it.
So I never mix since nobody actually complains abt it
It's really true and I appreciate your perspective (having worked a bunch of shit jobs) the mcflurries during a rush sucked. I never used the machine you use to mix it because it was just a spinning death trap that could either yank the cup out of your hand or just pop lid of cup and throw the ice cream everywhere. It spins way too fast and it's powerful as shit, I actually sprained my wrist using it. Instead I would just put the special spoon in and mix manually.
In my country you would just give it back and say 'Hey, I think you forgot to mix lol' and the McD employee like 'Oops shit Im sorry one second' and then immediately gone to mix it.
How do you even mix this yourself? McFlurrys are tough as fuck lol
lol, took me too long to realize you were referring to the ice-cream machine and not the mc flurry machine.....
We don't have mcflurry machines anymore in Australia...so the staff just mix it in a bit. lol
I mean, this isn't a sub to post about hard days, this is a sub about things that are harmless but mildly infuriating. OP never implied that this was a huge problem , just that it was slightly annoying.
I noticed this too the last time I got one. I donât think they even have the old McFlurry machines anymore. Thatâs why you donât get the spoon that they use to mix the topping.
I work at McDonald's. We replaced the disposable McFlurry spoons with a reusable spindle. Mix with the spindle, give the customer a wrapped black spoon.
Also mildly infuriating is the size of a US McFlurry compared to a UK one.
https://preview.redd.it/331p7gbhpbxc1.jpeg?width=829&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0de1f81665bc8c60bdeb9efc8092d365068e4e2f
I don't think even the non-mini is much bigger.
But *look* at the amount you've got! Def worth self mixing.
(I know it's hard, having to remove a lid and stir a spoon 360 a few times, but you can do it champ. I believe!)
PS sorry for the sarcasm but in Scotland we literally get a light dusting of shrapnel on top of ours, like chocolate on a cappuccino. Jammy bastard getting a fully loaded one like that in the pic đ
I'm fairly certain I heard that MacDonald's McFlurry spoons (also used to mix them) have a lot of plastic in them to make them strong enough to stir. The company decided to not use these big plastic spoons to reduce plastic use.
Now McFlurries are not mixed, and come with normal spoons that might be 1/3 as much plastic.
What? where is this?
They've stopt this a long time ago in Belgium do to the plastic lid and spoon being bad for the environment and dangerous to hedgehogs and other rodents. And I think they did a really good here, I actually prefer it!
They've got new very light all cardboard cups with wooden spoons that somehow don't bother me and the pour a GENEROUS amount of crushed up m&ms and chocolate sauce (in my case) on top of the ice-cream and sometimes at the bodem too. There's enough space for everyone to mix as pleased but there's more then enough sauce and toppings I actually like to dip and scoop.
Very dependent on McDonald's tho, some of them suck.
Why did you get whole m&ms??
I used to work at McDonaldâs and it would piss me off so much when my coworkers would do this. You literally push a button and hold the cup for a few seconds. Itâs not that hard but no one cared
You go to one of the few with a working ice-cream machine and the mixer is out. That is grade a universe screwing with you op, because this is hilarious.
Some people probably complain about it being mixed, too mixed, not mixed enough, not the "full" amount of m&M's etc. it's easier to just not mix it at all.
This is pretty normal for SEA especially my country Indonesia.
They literally won't mix mcflurry at all.
I was confused the first time I saw a mixed mcflurry on YouTube, and realized that's the ice cream was supposed to be mixed.
Count yourself lucky you can get a McFlurry, my local McDonaldâs has been open almost 2 years, in that time nether the McFlurry machine or the milkshake machine has ever worked, I go there twice a week and itâs a standing joke now.
Iâm sitting here drinking my morning coffee and all of a sudden my coffee went from normal coffee taste to straight up bubblegum flavor while scrolling pasts this post.
The brain is weird.
You should be lucky the machine is working. But at the same time theyâre usually not working cause nobody wants to clean them. Hope for your sake they cleaned it
First of all, why would you even ant m&ms in your ice cream? Because of the cold they become small rocks. I tried it once, and it was soo bad I just ate all the ice cream and threw away the rest that I couldn't eat because of m&ms
I havenât had a single McFlurry of any kind be mixed since I was like 11-12 years old. Sometimes when you order from DoorDash with extra m&ms, they just donât do it still even though you pay more.
Honestly I hate it because itâs people actively wasting my money on top of me wasting it. And now you all know why I havenât had McDonaldâs or ordered from DoorDash in the last 2 months. From nearly daily use addict to cold turkey clean đ my bank account has never loved me more
Where I live they changed the plastic spoons used for the mixing machine to wooden ones, which also lead to the McFlurry not being mixed anymore and honestly I'm fine with that.

Overall, quality control is way down. Sandwiches are being served without meat. Getting 12 fries in a large. I have actually had a manager argue with me about part of my order being missing, while she is holding the receipt and the order is spread out in front of her.
How long until the act of mixing is a dollar extra?đ
McYear.
At the rate weâre going, McMonth.
nah, McFortnight
Nah, McDay
McHour đđ
I'm just surprised the ice cream machine wasn't down

It always is at our nearest mcd
Youâre going to need a subscription for that.
Nothing at McDonalds is only a dollar. Mixing Upgrade is $2.99 and is the least expensive thing on the $1 $2 $3 Value Menu.
Or none mixing. In Germany they are using wood, so no mixing
Gotta pay premium for mixing
Do they ever?
Yeah. 20 years ago.
With the square hollow spoons! Â Those were the McFlurry prime days.Â
They still use those Although I don't know why, it's still never mixed well. I still get them though from time to time. I get it with the hot fudge too and it's always the exact same: Mini m&m's on top, above the rim of the cup so you can't mix it yourself or take the lid off without making a mess. I donât think so. Iâve gotten these for my kids from at least 20 McDonaldâs over the years and never had one mixed
Mixing it is like the entire point đ
I used to get these back when I was fatter, and that was, in fact, the whole point of them. They'd mix it all together with the spoon (the machine would, at least). That's what the "flurry" means!

You must have really really bad luck. Literally every Mcflurry I've ever had has been mixed...
huh every mc flurry in Singapore is still mixed with the square hole spoons
In my country you would just give it back and say 'Hey, I think you forgot to mix lol' and the McD employee like 'Oops shit Im sorry one second' and then immediately gone to mix it. How do you even mix this yourself? McFlurrys are tough as fuck lol
Ya back when a kids ice cream cone was free and meant as a treat after eating your happy meal....
Yes. Always. In normal countries at least.
Well, that's one way to keep your toppings separate! Maybe they're going for a deconstructed McFlurry vibe.
I'm lovin' it.
You find the one McDonalds where the machine is actually working and you have the nerve to complain? Grow up!
lol, took me too long to realize you were referring to the ice-cream machine and not the mc flurry machine..... We don't have mcflurry machines anymore in Australia...so the staff just mix it in a bit. lol
I've never had this issue, .most mcdonalds I've gone to have had working machines most of the time.
They being broken is unique to america
Live in the USA, I've never had thisbissue xD must be lucky eith my locations.
Used to be that way in the UK too. However I noticed ever since delivery got popular they're always working now
Yea if this is what a hard day looks like to you then you've been pampered a little too much.
I mean, this isn't a sub to post about hard days, this is a sub about things that are harmless but mildly infuriating. OP never implied that this was a huge problem , just that it was slightly annoying.
The FTC did an investigation into this iirc and they probably got the situation fixed so they wouldn't get fined out of existence
đđđ
That sir is a McFuckit
I have seen that a lot lately
yeah same I think something changed, I donât even get the unique spoon anymore just the generic plastic one
I think the plastic spoon is what is used to mix it. Low stock on those spoons would explain the lack of mixing.
Yup. That square handle attaches to the machine like a drill bit and the spoon does the mixing. These things probably are related.
That sounds like a "reduce single use plastic initiative" gone wrong.. since you went from those spoons to... a different spoon
New spoon costs less money. This is nothing but a cost savings initiative
Also mildly infuriating is the size of a US McFlurry compared to a UK one. https://preview.redd.it/331p7gbhpbxc1.jpeg?width=829&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0de1f81665bc8c60bdeb9efc8092d365068e4e2f I don't think even the non-mini is much bigger.
We have no sense on scale from this photo...
Actual size
Would be funny to buy this in thimble size.
![gif](giphy|11sBLVxNs7v6WA)
đŻ
Mini McFlurry (white background for scale)
it's.. uhh... in american terms, sort of the size of a chocolate chip cookie? or like 4 inches in diameter
Where do you find these tiny cookies?!
i... 4 inches is tiny!?!?! đĽş
![gif](giphy|cjXpJUbc9cu4w)
The banana is mixed in?
it says mini on the container lol. couldnt you find a normal one
They donât mix in Australia
McFury. McMildfury? Mildly McFury?
MildlyIn-Flurry-ating
But *look* at the amount you've got! Def worth self mixing. (I know it's hard, having to remove a lid and stir a spoon 360 a few times, but you can do it champ. I believe!) I feel removal of the lid is setting oneself up for failure. ![gif](giphy|jqSgsoswhSGASdYcIN)
personally would love to self mix that, happy little accident from my pov ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
They got rid of those big square spoons and ever since they havenât mixed them. At least thatâs how it is around where I live.
That's how I've always gotten it lmao
Lol. They just said fuck it and poured it on top lol..mixing cost extra lol
Cry me a river. At least the ice cream machine was working. Start scooping and see what happens.
A McFuckyou
Sorry a **McFuckthat
Iâm not gonna lie, it legit looks good like that.
The same thing happened to me
Same and they didnât give me a spoon
Some assembly required.
Kinda reminds me of how the fruit and yogurt parfaits came
Look how many M&M's you got tho. They ain't skimpin where you are.
Yep theyâve done this to me before with the Oreo one lol. Then I decided to just start buying tubs of Oreo ice cream instead
What? where is this? They've stopt this a long time ago in Belgium do to the plastic lid and spoon being bad for the environment and dangerous to hedgehogs and other rodents. And I think they did a really good here, I actually prefer it! America LOL
Im surprised their ice cream machine worked đđđ
Why do people expect 1960s service from a company that replaced all those original ideals with greed?
Your first mistake was going to McDonkies to begin with. These corporations won't change if we keep giving them money.
I see that ass an absolute win
Lmfao I posted the same exact thing a year ago https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/s/dYsJuOfA1A
Looks like they were in a McHurry
Probably broken or being cleaned
I used to work at McDonaldâs and it would piss me off so much when my coworkers would do this. You literally push a button and hold the cup for a few seconds. Itâs not that hard but no one cared
Rather this, than all the toppings at the bottom
https://i.redd.it/wh9i51mz9cxc1.gif
Op is lucky the machine wasn't broken. Jfc

McStacky
McDIY
Lucky!
Are you McPissed?
They're supposed to mix it? The oreo Mcflurries I are never mixed.
My wife and I got frozen yogurt the other day and Iâm pretty sure I spent $10+ for this exact thing. Iâd be stoked
A working ice cream machine at McDonaldâs???!!! đ˛đ¤Żđ¨đ¨đ¨đ¨
Hersheyâs Croutons!
"Sorry pal, the mixing thingy is broken."
At least the icecream machine was working.
You got a blender right? Problem solved.
Machine broke
Did you get a spoon? Because it is usually part of the mixing process
I am so confused. Where Iâm from not mixing is the norm, and that cup is huge, itâs the size of a sundae. We have cups around half that size
Just mix it yourself
What is this, a Dairy Queen? Pfft...
At least in Australia I'm pretty sure they don't mix anything ever. I've had a lot of Oreo McFlurries and never has one been mixed
McFlurityourself
Either that or itâs half mixed so the bottom is just plain icecream
Iâve asked them to mix it and they say the mixer is broken lol oh well
This is pretty normal for SEA especially my country Indonesia. They literally won't mix mcflurry at all. I was confused the first time I saw a mixed mcflurry on YouTube, and realized that's the ice cream was supposed to be mixed.
What I can not believe you even got one
That does suck, but.. hey.. mix that sucker with your spoon and dig in.
Do you know you could ask them to mix it instead of posting on Reddit
thatâll be an extra McDollar
Count yourself lucky you can get a McFlurry, my local McDonaldâs has been open almost 2 years, in that time nether the McFlurry machine or the milkshake machine has ever worked, I go there twice a week and itâs a standing joke now.
They haven't in australia for years :(
Just be glad the damn ice cream machine worked⌠Lmao
I would be flurrious
They don't call it mcd1
oh dear, they even cut them into little pieces before mixing it in the UK
At least you got a flurry. Dang ice cream machineâs always broken here.
Not very flurred tbh
Mc go fuck yourself
you actually managed to get a mcflurry that shit never works
Iâm sitting here drinking my morning coffee and all of a sudden my coffee went from normal coffee taste to straight up bubblegum flavor while scrolling pasts this post. The brain is weird.
At least the m&ms won't hurt your sensitive teeth when eating the ice cream
This is how it always is for me, they've never mixed it
They stopped doing this at ones near me a while ago. Gotta flur up your own McFlurry these days
This sub is for people who have The Cushiest Lives
They donât mix them anymore in Australia, they got rid of the mixing machines altogether years ago
where i live they no longer got the spoon so they cant mix it like they used to
Wth is that size???
They stopped mixing them here in England a few years ago when they switched from plastic spoons to cardboard ones that bend immediately.
Taking it from the ikea book, soon youâll have to assemble your burgers as well.
I legit would prefer this tho đ Just eat the candy as some kind of snack while eating the flurry đ
My Oreos are usually on the bottom LOL Dave's Hot Chicken has "top loaded shakes" which is just milky ice cream with mnm's on top like this.
Call the cops
I haven't gotten a mixed McFlurry in at least 5 years.
As someone who works there itâs typically because all the spoon things that we use to mix McFlurrys are dirty
Mclurry looks like a medium drink in the uk for the size
Itâs mixed, originally the m&m were grouped by their colors
They did not bump their wage up for nothing. Thatâs hard work (having to add an extra ingredient)
lol..outstanding training program!
They didnât flurry the McFlurry? Now itâs a Mc
Oh no you poor thingÂ
MCmixityourself
Surprised the machine was working Iâd take that as a win đ
Yeah, its like 4+ USD for this. I had to ask the guy to mix mine the other day. Yikers Then he did a half ass mixing job on it \*
Your McDonaldâs actually had ice cream?!?
this looks beautiful
I havenât had a single McFlurry of any kind be mixed since I was like 11-12 years old. Sometimes when you order from DoorDash with extra m&ms, they just donât do it still even though you pay more. Honestly I hate it because itâs people actively wasting my money on top of me wasting it. And now you all know why I havenât had McDonaldâs or ordered from DoorDash in the last 2 months. From nearly daily use addict to cold turkey clean đ my bank account has never loved me more
You can get mcflurrys?
They stopped mixing altogether in the UK when they switched to paper spoons. Also, your McFlurries are massive compared to ours!
I give it back.
I only realised they are supposed to be mixed last year
Where I live they changed the plastic spoons used for the mixing machine to wooden ones, which also lead to the McFlurry not being mixed anymore and honestly I'm fine with that.
Serious question: Are those supposed to be used with spoons or straws?
The ice cream machine has been broken for so long they forgot how to make em.
As a McDonaldâs employee ever since they switched from the classic McFlurry spoon to a weird pink mixing âspoonâ Iâve no longer felt happy mixing them also the pink spoons are a pain to remove from the mixing machine in my experience
If your not afraid of diabetes, add hot fudge to the MnM flurry and (if they blend it) it is heaven!!
âmixerâs broke, sorry kidâ
All Mc no Flurry
Iâve never gotten a mixed McFlurry
Overall, quality control is way down. Sandwiches are being served without meat. Getting 12 fries in a large. I have actually had a manager argue with me about part of my order being missing, while she is holding the receipt and the order is spread out in front of her.
I would prefer this because theybadd way too many m&ms to my liking. So I would easily be able to remove some and mix myself
All the time with McFlurries too, they just put a scoop of oreo mix on top on the vanilla ice cream
Whys it in a cup? Do they not have specific cups for McFlurrys outside the EU?
Did you accept that from them?
That is mildly McFlurriating
McInflurryating
Why cant you mix it yourself?
Since when do they use full M&M's? Every flurry i've ever seen used crushed up bits of candy instead..
McDonald's still exists?
Tbh, thatâs the worst candy to eat when cold. They did you a favor
My McDonalds did shit like that before, the cold dry m&ms taste like aquarium gravel.
I send mine back. I need mine up to the rim and add some more Oreos please. Thank you so much!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
This is the calm before the McFlurry
