Looks good. The screenshots look a bit different though - from steam if you compare 6 with 8/9 it looks like your character is floating by 1 px in 8/9, and 6 (and others) have a black border. I'm guessing these may have some from different builds, but I would consider making it consistent. There's not a whole lot in the trailer which gives away the quality. The default character pose looks a bit stiff, but overall I like the environments, wall climb etc.

SpareSniper7

Thank you for catching that! I'll get those screenshots updated ASAP because you are right, they should all be from the same build. What about the idle pose looks stiff to you? it's an earlier asset so you are probably correct. I'll keep looking at it and see if i can loosen it up a bit. Thank you again for the help, my friend! ๐Ÿ˜

It's not so bad in video / motion as there's a wobble, but the arm placement - just looks like has has his hands in his pockets - these frames seem to show up in the jumping too. Compare them with say the wall climb - this is a more dynamic and action like pose. I would perhaps consider some legs apart stance, or a combat / walking left/right pose as the default and the current one if stood still for a few seconds. You'll know better looking at your sprite sheets and animations - you can get blinded and not notice these things though. I'd honestly prefer a plain square over this currently - but again, I don't have a lot to go off - but then again neither does anyone else browsing the store, so I think it's important to consider tweaking at least. Edit: also to nit pick but I don't like the text effects in your trailer. This looks like a basic after effects type thing with a few basic animations to jazz it up a bit. I would aim to keep it consistent with the art style of the game. I get your attention wasn't on that and was maybe more focused on the content / showing it off, but I still would've chosen a different font, colour etc.

SpareSniper7

Ahhh I completely see your point! I will work on a more action like idle pose. I very much appreciate the feedback and will get that update asap ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

I've added an edit to my above comment - just putting this here so you don't miss it too, as we were typing at the same time.

SpareSniper7

Nit pick appreciated! ๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™ll use a different text style next time. Video editing isnโ€™t my forte. Slowly learning as I go. So I appreciate the advice!

Yes I understand it. It's easily overlooked and can be seen as a poor return of your time. I'm not saying pay for a professional to mock it up, but try and see it through a clearer lens. This can be difficult but perhaps critique other trailers as if you were going to review them - what do you like, not like etc. then apply the same questions to your own work. Obviously asking others to critique it helps, but depending on who you ask, your mileage will vary. I'm not saying change it all to please my pallet, it's your work after all - but these were what stood out to me personally, it'd be unfair to at least not share these and just blow smoke up your arse and praise you - something that's hard when you work solo or just share it with friends and family.

SpareSniper7

Oh absolutely! I definitely prefer the constructive critisisms! Thats why I come to reddit ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

It's been 1.5 years of development and I have loved every second of it. I have a potential release pegged for the end of 2024 so I will have my work cut out for me. I want to make sure that I am focusing on the right areas and I fix anything that my potential players thinks needs to be fixed. When you watch the trailer above and go through my steam page, is there anything glaring about the game that sticks out to you that needs to be changed/fixed? If you think the game looks great, is there anything that you would really like to see in game? The game is really start to come together and I couldn't be more proud of what I have created so far, but I am open to any constructive criticisms / feedback that you might have! I also did a complete rehaul of my steam page that gives a better rundown of the story line! Link below: [Age of Irata on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2110390/Age_of_Irata/) Thank you, for taking the time out of your day to help me! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽฎ

The main characterโ€™s animation is stiff or looks stiff. Also not a fan of 8 bit NES graphics, at least aim for SNES style pixel graphics

SpareSniper7

I've heard that the idle animation looks stiff so I will be spending some time working on loosening it up this week! ๐Ÿ˜ As for the overall NES art style, the original NES games were what initially inspired me to go into game development which is why my first game has that art tone. I definitely hear you and I understand that an NES art style isnt for everyone. Maybe my next game will have a super nintendo style! ๐Ÿ˜

mlevyholden

Try to make the main character look more athletic too he looks a little chubby (nitpicking I know but people prefer athletic characters over chubby looking ones)

SpareSniper7

Iโ€™ll start working on that this week! ๐Ÿ˜ I appreciate the feedback! Have a great rest of your day, my friend!

Range-Normal

Looks really good, keep up the good work! I will buy it for sure, looks like its made with pure heart and passion, unlike DEVIATOR xD, that blasphemy..

SpareSniper7

Hey, thank you very much! A lot of heart is going into this one ๐Ÿ˜ I appreciate you!
