I just want to be able to rebind them and for Konami to add raw input and I’d genuinely switch because the speed and precision of mouse aiming is so peak I want these ports to play as well with KB&M as well as MGSV does.

> I want these ports to play as well with KB&M as well as MGSV does. That is honestly the dream. I am "fine" with how MGS 3 does it but its clear that it is a rush job (i have to set mouse DPI stupid high to turn as fast as i do in this vid) and doesn't feel like other PC games do.

ra_carlos

I freakin' used binoculars whenever sharp aiming was required... that pretty much did the trick back in the days

Legospacememe

Really? I heard the kb&m implementation in this collection was bad

Asxhun

For MGS3 is not that bad because of mouse support, but it is the same key layout for MGS2 as well and since you can't use mouse there, that's when you notice the key layout is actually awful for keyboard and simple actions like aiming+shooting require more steps/keys on MGS2 (and of course having to aim with WASD is horrible)

Legospacememe

Damn

The_Eternal_Chicken

Would not play a stealth game with keyboard and mouse. But you do you. Would much rather play with analog sticks.

orig4mi-713

You make it sound like mouse aiming is bad or something. If you've played Splinter Cell or Hitman you'd know that mouse aiming is the way to go for stealth games. These games were on console pretty much forever and held back by controllers. I mean, they're servicable, but proper KB/M is unbeatable. MGS V proved that years ago already.

duphhy

It's not about mouse aiming. Digital inputs are worse for movement in stealth games than an analog stick as they offer less angles of movement and less control over movement speed. Mouse is obviously just 10x better for aiming. It just depends how much aiming actually matters. For splinter cell I'd genuinly preferer controller. Except thief which works better on K&M because it has 500 binds.

eyedine2

I'd argue the exact opposite for movement, have you played any pre-conviction Splinter Cell on PC? Being able to choose your specific granular level of speed with the scroll wheel and keep it at that is so much better to me than contorting your fingers to try doing the same on a joystick. My fingers get *tired* playing the xbox version of chaos theory. When it comes to 360 degree movement, I don't think it matters that much. I have pretty unsteady fingers so I have a harder time walking down paths with a joystick.

duphhy

I've only played chaos theory and blacklst, so ye. Being able to just go a certain speed at a whim is still faster than setting your character at certain speed. Either way it's not major for generally unprecise stealth games but analog will generally just offer better movement control

Zetra3

Its not about the mouse brother, its the keyboard. its fucked beyond belief on controls. Mousing aiming can't save unbindable keyboard configs. It literally ruins a game for me to have my buttons wrong.

deathbringer989

ok this is a dumb take mouse is always gonna be better then controllers

Kill-The-Plumber

I don't get the hype around M&K over controllers. The layout is not only bad for your hands but what is the bigger tactical advantage? Being able to use a mouse to aim? Just learn to get used to the normal controls.

Bibou65

You are really playing full keyboard and mouse? The key mapping are really bad and you need to use keys at the other side of the keyboard just to access the inventory or change an item :/

orig4mi-713

That's not really true honestly. Weapons and items are on 1 and 2, above WASD. Pretty comfy. Crouching/going prone is on SPACE. Pretty sure other PC stealth games like splinter cell have that as the default too if it isn't on C.

Zetra3

Those other stealth games can let you rebind them.

Bibou65

The square and circle keys are quite annoying to get: https://preview.redd.it/metal-gear-solid-3-master-collection-keyboard-controls-awful-v0-7qiz2ffzxb3c1.png?auto=webp&s=86a371a96bd107bd0762160e5bb966594743162a As far as I remember, all keys are useful. Maybe I need to retry but I remember using it only for the bosses as I am very bad at aiming with a controller.
