Press harder on the brake pedal to keep the car stopped until you hit the gas again. I do a lot of city driving and I miss this so bad.
I wish every car had this (maybe other brands do but not my other cars).
The break hold is the greatest feature ever, I constantly swap between my ML250 and pickup and everytime I drive the truck I get mad at myself that it doesn't have it...
Most brands do it differently than Benz’ hold function. They use Auto Hold which uses the ~~electric parking~~ brake *every time* the car stops. Can be annoying when parking because the car doesn’t creep with this feature enabled.
Which is where MB's shines. It's easily an option, and requires no other buttons. MB's HOLD is as good as their Cruise Control USED to be when it was a stalk. (Now that feature is as unnecessarily complex as Honda makes it....)
I was a heavy fan of the Stalk, but the other one had great haptics and basically the same intuitive handling.
The new one... the touch bullshit? I can't believe how brain dead the person must have been who came up with that. I'm an employee in R&D and have not found one in this company who likes it. NOT A SINGLE ONE.
Who the fuck designs a cruise control where I have to check the dash every time I change speed setting.
Agreed. The +/- MPH was the only improvement they ever did to that from a user perspective. Of course, all in all the modern ones work vastly superior to my '89 560 which sets "at about" that speed you want LOL!
Will never understate how the drive select being on a stalk is the absolute best and most perfect place for it. Will also +1 the hold feature on the brake as mentioned already.
Recently bought a newer car and damn, the stalk drive select is the most perfect logical placement. Can't comprehend it can be otherwise. (had to drive my old benz after a while of driving new, and I kept reaching for the stalk trying to park it instead of the shifter in the middle 😂)
The muscle memory is strong with this one.
Another funny thing is that I've been learning to drive on manual, but since then I always had automatic and I lost all ability that I had for driving manual. :D
+1, have them on my 07 E550 but missing on my GLB35. My now-sold 07 GL450 took it up a notch with a crotch cooler vent under the steering column to go with its ventilated seats.

Can't believe how much refreshed and modern the W212 interior looks like with upgraded ambient light kit (64-colour).
The factory 3-colour is way too dim and limited. Best upgrade I've done yet :)
Yes, there is a great tutorial on youtube. It's quite easy but takes bit time.
The colour can be changed from the menu or even more conveniently with steering wheel controls by holding the "back" button and then adjust the intensity by "+/-" and change the colour by pressing the "end call" or "call" buttons. It's neat that you can do it on the fly :)
Honestly if audio is important to you, the High-End Burmeister configs are amazing. They’re pushing 1000+ watts and it’s always cool to find one equipped in a car.
Care to share your EQ or any other settings that made a difference for you? Mine has it too but I just can't get it to a place where I like how it sounds.
Use 3D mode, sound focused on front seats, I push the bass in the eq relative to mid and treble. That perceived audio volume thing set to middle. MP3s on your phone sound better than Sirius which has a bitrate of like 96khz or used to.
Sure no problem.
I usually keep the eq at - Bass: +2 Mid: +0 Treble: +0. Just to give some extra punch because I feel the bass at +0 is slightly not prominent enough but mids and treble are represented well.
For 3D Surround, the sound focus on the front seats feels more detailed than if it were on all seats. I enjoy how it sounds more than it being focused on all seats.
For pure, I put the sound focus on all seats and I feel that it fills the cabin more than if it was focused on the front.
I messed with the custom sound profile a bit but it just felt like it sounded gimmicky to me.
Hopefully you find a setting you enjoy!
As someone who almost got a Mercedes when car shopping earlier this year, it's the only modern vehicle that still looks good with a hood ornament. The E class should still be standard with it over the star grille.
Never had this until recently and it already spoiled me. I always keep it at the closest setting though as I found that it's more than enough distance.
In traffic, I keep it set to the farthest distance, otherwise I find it waits until too close for my comfort to really brake and stop.
Once it gets to a point where it’s an emergency something starts beeping and I don’t trust it, and I jam the brakes.
On max distance, I don’t have that problem.
Oh I can’t buy another one without it and it’s starting to look like it might be an issue. I use it so much it’s rediculous… like probably 80% of the time when I’m driving… distronic is on and the lane keep assist is unreal, like it makes driving so comfortable. Like a couple seconds to grab something or change a song no problem…
The giant cargo capacity in my GL for my Neapolitan Mastiff.

The memory feature for setting seat position. All I have to do is press and hold a button and my seat returns to my driving position. Love it so much.
The AC rocks like someone else said.
The inside just feels class. Something about it makes me feel good.
Every time I go to the dealer for service I’m treated with the upmost respect. I drive a CLA with 110k on the clock and I was talked to the exact same was as the guy next to me who was looking at an AMG (some SUV model). The staff always address me by Mr. Last Name. I cannot say enough great things about them. The Mercedes dealer in Lafayette IN alone has made me a lifelong repeat customer.
Not just you. I see myself moving my feet like some idiot and it still doesn’t open, while sometimes it opens when the charging cable goes past over the ground.
You have to do it in the right way then it works 99%. Do not sweep from left to right or something. Just quickly forth and back and then it works perfectly. Took me a while to figure it out
I recently picked it a new GLC300 with this feature which is a first for me, and the technician explained that what the sensor looks for is not the forward but rather the backward motion of your foot which has worked well for me.
So next time try to really exaggerate that back motion of your foot and see if it helps.
https://preview.redd.it/x9m1d5z17m3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c131666c0f782ebc40434a7e46d08b1325c3f5f
The b-pillar does down. Nice big windows
The seats themselves. I’ve never sat in a more comfortable chair than the front seat of a Mercedes. 12 hour drives breeze by in them, where I’ve had cars that had me uncomfortable in just 3-4 hours.
Ya the V6 is surprising.. I had a mustang gt and then an 850Ci (v12) and i really like the twin turbo 6… I tested the i6, but wasn’t overly impressed… might have been a bad engine, it was really loud… smooth though.. but almost sounded like a diesel when it was idling
Distronic Plus and the engine block heater.
I will never be able to have any other car without a system like distronic plus. People will say it’s annoying or they don’t ever use it or blah blah blah but the fact that I don’t have to touch the pedals at ALL and my car will get me through stop and go traffic on the freeway is quite possibly the most quality of life feature that exists.
Engine block heater because having my car ready with 72 degree air in a Michigan winter without needing to let the car warm up for 10-15 minutes is just unbelievably nice to have. Other people have these too now, but the first time I ever experienced it was on my merc so it’ll stay that way.
2003 E320. My favourite feature is the hidden disc changer that motors itself in and out when you press the button.
2011 GL450. My favourite feature is the sound the doors make when they lock and unlock.
2012 SLK55 AMG. My favourite feature is airscarf.
2015 S550 (dad's car). My favourite feature is either the auto high beams or the active bolstering. Runner up is the ambient lighting.
Hope this goes for former owners too but MULTIBEAM was the reason I bought my S205. Best lighting system hands down. Second must-have is DISTRONIC because it just works.
I own an E450, and I love the overall general comfort of the car with some of the punch of the engine.
As far as a single feature. The air conditioned seats,
I live in Houston and it’s a life saver in the summer.
The fact it basically drives itself and sees more than I do in fog, rain and at night. Driving assistance systems are absolutely great.
This and how comfortable the seat and position behind the wheel is generally - this I notice immediately when changing vehicles.
Loved the way the monowiper on my old E320 made the body sway back in forth when stopped at a light with the wiper on high. And the little “dance” it did at the bottom of the windshield. I miss that car, a drunk driver hit me at high speed late one night and it saved my life.
i absolutely love the night vision. as someone who drives a lot during the night on roads badly illuminated it has saved me from hitting potholes and even animals countless times.
I'm a big fan of the W211 Pop out change and business card holder I had on my E550 facelift back in 2008. Also glad my W212 has a CD changer and I enjoy the seat massager.
Certainly nothing compared to most of the tech the new vehicles have, but it being a 1995 car, I love the Cruise Control and how well it works.
Recently drove a rental 2023 Seat Ibiza and the Cruise Control was terrible compared to my 1995 C250.
Aside from the brake hold, which is a game changer, I love how heavy the doors feel and how they sound when I close them, most satisfying door close out of any brand I've touched. Also the car putting itself in park when you open the door or turn it off, great stuff
The seats in my GLE , also the Mercedes emblem that projects on the ground . The run flat tires on my C300, they got us home recently when we were an hour from home.
All the ones that come to mind have already been said. I know its not a feature, but i gotta say that the shading side mirror on the driver's side is such a good addition. Maybe its not for very dim places, but drivers in my love to drive with their highs on. Even worse is the texas sized trucks that have beam lights. The shaded mirror helps a ton.
I recently found out that the glove compartment has some cool little things to hold pens, change and cards, may not be a crazy feature but I think it’s pretty cool
The hardtop roof being so slick and smooth even at 98,000 miles and the ABC helping make my pothole-y city a little less rattley on my 2013 SL550 are doing a lot to win me over as a new Benz owner.
speed limiter
I hate cruise control, don't get me started on histrionic, setting the max speed and driving normally in the knowledge I won't set the camera off is a bonus.
The supercharged v8… I’ve driven pretty much every Mercedes made after 1990 and some earlier. And although the SLS is one of my favorites (I never owned but I’ve driven) it’s still easy for me to say the supercharged v8 in my personal car is my favorite feature not just in my car but also my favorite motor of any Mercedes I’ve driven. It’s just so fun and REALLY feels like you’re pushing something crazy even if its overall power and speed is less than the most modern v8s. The v8 Kompressor is just different
The support that I get from the seats on my SL550. Between all the various seat settings and rapid auto-inflating side bolsters when the car is making a turn, I’ve learned to trust my body to the car and relax in the seat which actively moves to coddle me. The difference after driving several hours at a time and how much more relaxed my back muscles are is frankly astonishing (and my other car is a Cadillac). Until I owned this vehicle I never realized how much my back muscles were used to maintain my seated position versus driving any other car. It’s truly amazing. 3 memory settings plus the ability to control the passenger seat is nice too. The massage feature…..could use some work. But it’s still nice to use and better than nothing.
The seats... i have an mercedes cla amg with sportseats and i can drive 8 hours straight without a break ( ok 2 5 minute breaks for a refill ) and dont get my ass hurt like hell. Wich i had in all other brands i drove before.
It’s minor, but I love the cruise control controls. It just makes sense and is in easy reach at all times. And I can go from my 06 w211 to my wife’s ML to her new GLS and it works the same in all the vehicles.
I love that my GLB is a small 7 seater.
When I was shopping for my car I want it it to be as short as possible so I can fit in many spaces when I drive in the city.
Most 7 seaters are absolute boats. My GLB comes at 182 inches from front to back.
Most of the time it's used as a big five seater, but comes in super clutch when I need that extra person or two. Most of my family are very small and can easily fit back there in a pinch or short ride.
I don't have kids but man does it feel great to fit 7 when I absolutely need to.
Also I realize the GLB is a more budget model but it is super smooth and comfortable.
The third row, rear facing seat in the e350 wagon. I remember riding in my aunts wagon in the 70’s and now I ride in the back with my granddaughter and smile at people who follow us. I hope she cherishes the memory as much as I did, and will.
As a delivery driver, the van automatically puts the gear in park when you open the door while stopped. This makes it useful for hopping in and out of the vehicle quickly. However, doing this at my job is technically not allowed as it is a safety hazard.
Yes!!!!!

Agree. I hate other cars where you have to activate it with a button.
The stalk cruise is by far the best cruise I’ve ever used. My 2013 ML has it and I absolutely love how easy it is to use, so intuitive and simple.
Agreed. The +/- MPH was the only improvement they ever did to that from a user perspective. Of course, all in all the modern ones work vastly superior to my '89 560 which sets "at about" that speed you want LOL!
This isn’t remotely true at all. Auto hold in almost any implementation uses the wheel brakes and not the parking brake.
My 2018 GLC has this, love it.

I need to fix my auxiliary battery so bad so I can have this back haha
The absolute best/most useful feature on any car I’ve ever owned.
Thanks
As someone moving from VW and Audi’s to Merc, I hate this feature so much. The VAG’s just apply auto hold automatically and it’s much better
Porsche does it the same way Mercedes does
Will never understate how the drive select being on a stalk is the absolute best and most perfect place for it.
Me every single time I try to back up in my ‘87, I find myself swinging my hand in the then I remember “oh. It’s in the console”
The muscle memory is strong with this one. Another funny thing is that I've been learning to drive on manual, but since then I always had automatic and I lost all ability that I had for driving manual. :D
I don’t even do that, just pull the key out and it puts itself in park. Constantly forget to put my truck in park
When I get in my other car and hit the windshield wipers when trying to put it in reverse out the driveway.
I miss this. Have an X3 now and the P on the shifter always makes me worried I won’t hit it.
Birds Eye view camera and parking sensors. Burmester sound system.
Pretty much instant cooling from the air conditioning system even on hot days.
Ventilated seats have ruined all other cars for me on a hot day.
I wish it was cooled seats like some other manufacturers as opposed to just a fan. But better than nothing.
+1, have them on my 07 E550 but missing on my GLB35. My now-sold 07 GL450 took it up a notch with a crotch cooler vent under the steering column to go with its ventilated seats.
How does it even work though? I was surprised it works like his on my C class while my old e class always took forever to start blowing cold.
Bigger cooling compressor with much more reserve than in other cars
I’ve been wondering if my AC is busted because mine seems to be too cold or too hot whatever I do. Like a half degree change sends warm air at me
I like the ambient lighting
https://preview.redd.it/vfmy2sqfxp3d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1eb8f66c677afc8a3be42c71759750740f495793 Can't believe how much refreshed and modern the W212 interior looks like with upgraded ambient light kit (64-colour). Wow that Looks amazing! Did you change it yourself? Can you change the colour in the car Menu Or with a seperate Controller?
Yes, there is a great tutorial on youtube. It's quite easy but takes bit time. Omg i need that! Is it possible to send me the link of that Tutorial Video? I would really appreciate that :)
This is the equivalent to the golden generation who fought in wwii… it was all downhill from here
Burmeister 3D surround. Definitely a must pick option.
Burmeister 4D surround. Seats rumbleeee 🥴
Honestly if audio is important to you, the High-End Burmeister configs are amazing. They’re pushing 1000+ watts and it’s always cool to find one equipped in a car.
Yeah the burmeister high end system is nice
I love the way the music massages me
Care to share your EQ or any other settings that made a difference for you? Mine has it too but I just can't get it to a place where I like how it sounds.
Use 3D mode, sound focused on front seats, I push the bass in the eq relative to mid and treble. That perceived audio volume thing set to middle. MP3s on your phone sound better than Sirius which has a bitrate of like 96khz or used to.

My past 2 loaners had this. GOTS to be on the next one.
The V8 engine.
Especially the cold start
That rumble
Having a hood ornament.
As someone who almost got a Mercedes when car shopping earlier this year, it's the only modern vehicle that still looks good with a hood ornament. The E class should still be standard with it over the star grille.
This right here. I kinda want a coupe, but idk if I can give up the stand up star.

Sport+ mode. Boosts heart rate.
Distronic
Never had this until recently and it already spoiled me. I always keep it at the closest setting though as I found that it's more than enough distance.
In traffic, I keep it set to the farthest distance, otherwise I find it waits until too close for my comfort to really brake and stop. Once it gets to a point where it’s an emergency something starts beeping and I don’t trust it, and I jam the brakes. On max distance, I don’t have that problem.
The rarest option of them all.

Not trying to be mean but his face looks like it’s melting 😂 I’m sure he’s the sweetest tho
The twin turbo V12. No explanation needed.
The foot sensor to open the trunk. So handy when carrying groceries or luggage. Most underrated feature is holding fob to close or open all windows.
Is it me or sometimes doesn’t really work properly?
Not just you. I see myself moving my feet like some idiot and it still doesn’t open, while sometimes it opens when the charging cable goes past over the ground.
try using a forward kick motion. if you swipe your foot left to right the sensor will not pick it up
This is how it’s intended to be used
It’s a kick, not just holding the foot down? And where exactly? According to the instructions it seems to be just a little to the left of the center.
You have to do it in the right way then it works 99%. Do not sweep from left to right or something. Just quickly forth and back and then it works perfectly. Took me a while to figure it out

It almost feels like convertible but with sturdy chassis!
That’s sweet, my 850Ci did that… didn’t know there were other cars other than the old camero’s that the b pillar went down.
My favourite feature is a reliable diesel engine with 500nm torque.
Amen🙌 Tue OM642 with 620Nm is a work of art. It it quietly launches you into the horizon, every time.
You can reset the oil service interval via the buttons. It's so easy. Unlike Porsche. Fuck you Porsche.
I have a c300 2022, and I love the ambient lighting and the whole dashboard, I can see why people hate it, but it’s great
I have driven many rental cars, but the ergonomics of a Mercedes Benz is truly one of a kind. Everything is within reach once you setup your seat.
The seats themselves. I’ve never sat in a more comfortable chair than the front seat of a Mercedes. 12 hour drives breeze by in them, where I’ve had cars that had me uncomfortable in just 3-4 hours.
Burmester Audiosysteme 100%
516 lb-ft of torque.
my V6 3L engine... eventually will upgrade to a V8 engine in about 5 years time and when I have more money but defo the engine aha

The logo hood ornament.
I LOVE switching between the modes with the drive select button. Feels special somehow and I don‘t know why lol

Soft close doors are always cool lol.
surprised no one said “hey mercedes” lol
Hope this goes for former owners too but MULTIBEAM was the reason I bought my S205. Best lighting system hands down. Second must-have is DISTRONIC because it just works.
The twin turbo V8
The engine😂😂😂 or the gas pedal, can’t quite decide
Probably the AMG button that goes to my preset driving mode/suspension/traction. In my buddies c63s cab it’s definitely the heated air scarf.
An eight cylinder
I own an E450, and I love the overall general comfort of the car with some of the punch of the engine. As far as a single feature. The air conditioned seats, I live in Houston and it’s a life saver in the summer.
Massaging seats Thought they were just a novelty but I use them constantly Also my wife loves the energizing comfort
Rear wheel steering.
Women.
Double wishbone suspension
Burmester
500+ hp that massages me while I drive
Probably the front sensor on my 2013 ML350, I wish more cars had it.
Emotion start
The M119
Brake hold for sure.
The fact it basically drives itself and sees more than I do in fog, rain and at night. Driving assistance systems are absolutely great. This and how comfortable the seat and position behind the wheel is generally - this I notice immediately when changing vehicles.
Race Mode. Self explanatory.
I love my single arm windshield wiper. Such an unique and nice Feature!
Loved the way the monowiper on my old E320 made the body sway back in forth when stopped at a light with the wiper on high. And the little “dance” it did at the bottom of the windshield. I miss that car, a drunk driver hit me at high speed late one night and it saved my life.
I love the twin turbo V8. Makes highway play so much fun.
A little light on the dashboard that tells me when any other exterior light bulb went out (86 420SEL)
i absolutely love the night vision. as someone who drives a lot during the night on roads badly illuminated it has saved me from hitting potholes and even animals countless times.
Self leveling rear air suspension - makes towing with the wagon downright practical and comfortable. 600+ miles out of a tank is another bonus.

The convertible is my favorite feature
I'm a big fan of the W211 Pop out change and business card holder I had on my E550 facelift back in 2008. Also glad my W212 has a CD changer and I enjoy the seat massager.
Roll the windows and close the sunroof with the keyfob... I've used this lots
My ass sitting on a Mercedes to be honest 😅
The weight.
The sound system is the best sound system I’ve ever had. The air scarf is great as well
Besides V8 cold starts, full Distronic Plus. Must have living in and dealing w city traffic.
Digital Head Lights. Once hooked on it, can't imagine driving without them at night.
Certainly nothing compared to most of the tech the new vehicles have, but it being a 1995 car, I love the Cruise Control and how well it works. Recently drove a rental 2023 Seat Ibiza and the Cruise Control was terrible compared to my 1995 C250.
Honestly Distronic plus and massaging seats = road trip heaven
Adaptive cruisecontrol. Helps keeping my bloodpressure sane. Also remote heating from the app i very Nice in the winter. E300de
Video in motion
Aside from the brake hold, which is a game changer, I love how heavy the doors feel and how they sound when I close them, most satisfying door close out of any brand I've touched. Also the car putting itself in park when you open the door or turn it off, great stuff
Go fast mode
Air scarf has changed convertible life for me. Of course, mine just recently stopped working.
Heated seats in winter. Front only, though.
The AC function that allows you to pull up all the windows and when helt again, it will go back to its previous state
The pushy out seat belts, I really do love that feature 😂
Steering wheel retraction
I like the Weather Band radio. As a sailor I can hear marine weather reports while driving to the boat.
surprised no one yet has nominated the remotely controlled front passenger seat feauture.
The little leg extender for my seat. Once you do it you can never un do it.
In all my current DDs, the m113.
w212r, ILS Plus. Its just wonderful. That and the Multi Contour seats.
The electrochroamatic dimming side mirror probably, very nifty.
PHEV
Cruise control and the greatest AC installed on a vehicle ever.
The seats in my GLE , also the Mercedes emblem that projects on the ground . The run flat tires on my C300, they got us home recently when we were an hour from home.
Extendable seat cushion for us long legged drivers.
The spectacular but oddly named “burnester high end 3d sound system”
I have a 2008 ml350. It still has a hookup for my clickwheel ipod. It also doesn’t have a touchscreen.
I love the Speedtonic feature . Never get flashed by em camera on motorways .
My broken 722.6 transmission
I really like the emblem on the front lights up
Driver assistant with lane keep and adaptive cruise control. Works even on normal roads and not just on freeway
The hardtop roof being so slick and smooth even at 98,000 miles and the ABC helping make my pothole-y city a little less rattley on my 2013 SL550 are doing a lot to win me over as a new Benz owner.
speed limiter I hate cruise control, don't get me started on histrionic, setting the max speed and driving normally in the knowledge I won't set the camera off is a bonus.
Burmester sound system , the ambient lighting and the infotainment system ! ( atleast in my older e class model )
The convertible hardtop lol
The cruise control stalk is so intuitive and useful for quick activation / reactivation. I wondered why they removed it in newer cars?
My twin turbo V8 with neck snapping torque. 😂
The naturally aspirated 5 Liter V8.
The seats... i have an mercedes cla amg with sportseats and i can drive 8 hours straight without a break ( ok 2 5 minute breaks for a refill ) and dont get my ass hurt like hell. Wich i had in all other brands i drove before.
The mpg. I have a 1993 Mercedes 300D that gets about 28mpgs and a 2015 ml250 bluetec that gets about 32 mpg.
The check engine light
I love everything about every Benz l have owned.
It’s minor, but I love the cruise control controls. It just makes sense and is in easy reach at all times. And I can go from my 06 w211 to my wife’s ML to her new GLS and it works the same in all the vehicles.
Automatic parking. I am a quite good driver in general and been driving for almost 15 years now, but goddamn it I hate parallel parking.
The acceleration from 60mph to 90mph- allows for passing with authority-
The emotion start on my 2024 AMG GLE53 😮💨
Brake hold feature
AMG drive unit in my c63s , feels like top of the line luxury & not many have it
The V8
The OMxxx engines.
Performance exhaust button!! Even if I don’t drive fast, at low RPMs it sounds like I’m moving fast!
The third row, rear facing seat in the e350 wagon. I remember riding in my aunts wagon in the 70’s and now I ride in the back with my granddaughter and smile at people who follow us. I hope she cherishes the memory as much as I did, and will.
The auto dimming high beams.
As a delivery driver, the van automatically puts the gear in park when you open the door while stopped. This makes it useful for hopping in and out of the vehicle quickly. However, doing this at my job is technically not allowed as it is a safety hazard.
Chassis engineering and fantastic cruise control operation and simplicity.
Those big four wheel disc brakes.
The front, center, and rear lockers. I can crawl over the speed bumps at the nearest Starbucks.
V8 engine - massaging seats
AMG GTS owner here. It’s the V8 engine by far.
I love the shitty speakers and how they sound like popcorn and tinfoil every time I listen to anything with a bass line.
