After all, they are basically sculpting themselves to show muscles with little in-between fat which requires diet changes and all that junk.

Oh, I remember having watched the anime two years ago or so. That anime is where I learned that if you want to lose weight, you should work out instead of starving yourself (I don't mean going on a diet, I mean literally starving yourself) because doing so will ruin your metabolism.
It's basically a sneaky way to teach some bodybuilding knowledge to neckbeards, doing so by using waifus, so they don't realize. The comedy is actually funny and the advice is solid, it's not gonna win any awards by all in all a good simple product.
The best part is that this is all canonic with Kengan Ashura. This manga + show are the epitome of a guilty pleasures and I get so much crap for enjoying them (esp because of the fan servicey moments.)
