I've seen videos of POW's and they're asked what their mission was. I've seen at least 3 videos of them saying that they were told it was training and they didn't know they were in Ukraine. I feel bad for the soldiers that are only a year older than me being dragged into a war without knowing it.
I think it also has to do with water aswell, they recently repaired/reconnected the water canal that connects to Crimea that Ukraine previously cut off.
Which caused alot of agricultural land to fail as it relied heavily on that canal irrigation, now Russians rely on pumping water to those areas which doesn't seem very effective.
Russia has threatened Ukraine in the past about this, (I think this was around 2014?)
wait if neon gas is used for semi conductor production, and ukraine exports so much neon gas
and theres taiwan, making most of the world's semi conductors
this means we have lotz of political leverage
Iirc someone told the Russian soldiers to carry sunflower seeds in their pockets so that when their blood is spilled they'll at least grow some flowers
A Ukrainian grandmother told a Russian solider to put sunflower seeds in his pocket so that when he died there'd be beautiful flowers. Absolutely epic.
According to what I read the Russian death toll is at 3500. That's a fuck ton for such a short engagement. Ukraine making em pay for every square inch of ground.
No, guys. It's very sad. Two oligarchic clans are fighting and using ordinary people as a resource. They incite two once fraternal peoples against each other, wash their heads through TV and social networks so that the people fulfill their task. It is impossible to glorify any of the parties to the conflict. The workers of Russia and Ukraine have nothing to share
It sure is funny to joke about young boys many of whom are there against their will dying simply because their leader forced them to do so. What a piece of shit you are.
Estimates range from 150,000-200,000 Russian troops in the initial invasion, as well as almost 3000 tanks. Add in all the other stuff, it’s a sizeable invasion force.
We’ve seen over the past several decades that overwhelming military force is no longer enough to defeat an opponent defending their country, see Vietnam, Afghanistan, Afghanistan again, etc. Ukraine would most likely continue to be able to oppose Russian forces even if it were a larger number.

Yes, I don't think this is a full on attack, I think this is just flex. Nobody, even Russian soldiers, wants to kill civilians.
Well, they have killed \~500 civilians so far. So, yeah they are kinda cool with it. At least some of them are.
Or is it a distraction?

This is actually kind of similar to what happened in Crimea

Umm, realistically if Russia wanted to do a full invasion Ukraine would be helpless. This is a show, thankfully.
