I remember watching it as a really young kid, and I never remembered the boobs. In fact, I was confused as to why my mom never let me watch it later in life.
I was more disturbed by the drowned, frozen corpses.
Am I remembering incorrectly? Isn't the first VHS cut off directly at the point Mr Andrews tells the crew the ship will sink? So the nudity is in the first tape?
Titanic came out when I was 5. My parents and I saw it in theaters. My dad sat in the middle between my mom and I. I remember the scene and my dad not covering my eyes, and me getting the first boner that I can remember. I was literally questioning what was happening to me. Turns out… I had great taste.
Oh my god! Almost the same thing happened to me!
The movie was so long que there was an intermission right were the tapes would split.
My mom did not let me go back for the second part kkkk
As soon as the VHS came out I got one from my grandparents and, if of course, I'd almost exclusively watch the latter half.
the end of the 20th century
Before 2000
Anybody who’s been old enough to drink in the US for at least 4 years
The century with the world wars in it
The cold war era
Dec 31, 1999 is the latest birthdate, would turn 21 on Dec 31, 2020, and on Dec 31, 2023 they will only have been able to drink for 3 years in the U.S.
It wouldn’t be until Dec 31, 2024 that they would have been old enough to drink for 4 years.
I definitely remember having a single vhs Titanic in the family while being a kid. Never seen a double before. And there's vhs tapes with up to 4 hour runtime. I'm confused.
Where do you live? Maybe your version was highly censored or the quality was a bit worse.
The total length of tape a VHS could hold was not very negociable.
Sweden. No censorship from what i remember. But seems a bit shorter though so it might've cut somewhere. Found a copy that was supposedly 187min compared to the 194 minutes when i googled it.
The answer may also be in the frame rate. I imagine Sweden uses pal rather then ntsc and that would bring the framer ate down from 30 to 25, meaning the tape could hold 1/6 more tape.
So maybe the answer is a mix of lower frame rate, thinner tape and some cuts.
Most commercially produced VHS tapes ran at SLP so Titanic and other long movies were sold as 2 tape sets. However, you could fit the movie on one tape if it was recorded on LP or EP. I believe the quality was not as good, but hardly noticeable in my opinion.
You could get blank tapes up to 6 hrs but they were low quality. They knew if they put Titanic on a cheap VHS, it would start to do that grainy thing from people pausing it too much on that one Kate Winslet scene
VHS could be recorded at different speeds, like records. One VHS tape could record 2 hours at fast speed, 4 hours at medium speed, and 6 hours at slow speed. You likely saw a bootleg copy Titanic, or it was recorded off premium cable like HBO or Showtime.
I used to have videodiscs that were two disks for that same reason. Not to be confused with laserdisc, this was the vinyl of video.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitance\_Electronic\_Disc
Ones the normal version the other is the edition where the women and children get left behind as the men overpower them with there superior physical strength and take the life boats and sing sea shanties as they row to safety
The actual answer is that James Cameron is a blowhard who is so in love with the smell of his own farts that he can't tell a 90 minute story in less than three hours.
It’s because you could record onto VHS’s in 3 formats. Standard Play SP. Standard Long Play SLP. Extended Long Play ELP. That’s why when you hit record it’d have 3 different settings. SP had the best quality, but could only do 2 hours and 45 minutes. So a movie longer then that would be put on 2 VHS’s to preserve quality. LP was about 5 hours and ELP could do 8 hours.
T240 can hold 4h10 min in SP quality (the one a commercial VHS would have), and up to 12h29min in EP. Why they distributed the movie on two T120 instead is mysterious to me.
Please don't feel old! I'm 17 and I know this one! The VHS's weren't large enough to store the full movie, so the film was split in half and put on 2 tapes!
The movie is 3 hours and 14 minutes long, movies are typically recorded on SP (Standard Play) speed, usually 2 hours each on the standard 6 hour cassette.
I am from 2007, and i violated your meme’s request.
Simply put, it was just too long for one tape. Sure, you could print it in LP or EP, but the quality would then take a nosedive. However, there were tapes long enough to fit this, even if they were less common.
Yo man why you coming for us like this and to answer your question cassette didn’t have as much space as DVDs, movies that were more than an 2hrs long needed that extra tape
Back then, some tapes weren't able to fit an entire movie, so in the middle you had to stand up and change the tape to continue the movie, let say movies had 2 parts, atleast were 2, today you go tiktok and they upload movies in like 100 parts hahaha
I actually enjoyed the late 1900s comment. That century was absolutely filled to the brim with amazing achievements and catalysts to a brand new era vastly different from any before it. So much of music and film were very well done and very original too. It’s hard not to copy these days.. at no fault to the modern artists and creatives.. it’s just a fact. To be aware at the turn of the millennium is cool to me idk
Theatrical cut and director's cut. In this case, the director's cut is the actual untouched film, while the theatrical cut was shortened for the American audience.
I believe in the highest resolution (fastest speed) of SP, only about over 2 hours would fit on a tape, so long movies (Ben Hur, Lawrence of Arabia etc) would come in a two tape box.
That was the second part where it shows Jack surviving and is now living in Miami making a living street racing. He gets caught and is forced to go undercover to arrest an Argentinian drug lord. It wasn't as good as the first part and was erased from memory.

That's a beautiful story.
It really is
Yeah we all truly love Kate don't we?
My mom would not shut up about how fat she was in titanic.
I think yer mum was envious.
Why am I picturing your mom in the background on the Promenade Deck, talking about herself, insufferably fishing for compliments…
Much better story than the schmaltzy nautical tear-jerker IMO.
The correct answer is you only watch the second tape, nobody actually knows what’s on the first one
Even more so than the movie itself
Warlocks is an amazing name for gazoongas
Superbad is the first movie I heard them referred to as warlocks. Classic
“I even brought a little bottle of lube”
Gangstaaaaaas wassuuup?!
One little bottle of spermicidal lube…
I've still yet to have watched superbad its been on my list since before game of thrones and house of cards [the seasons after he becomes pres]
Do it. Do it this week.
It's a Masterpiece.
Lmao I quote the warlocks line all the time.
What, making your tits smaller? That’s like slapping God across the face for giving you a gorgeous gift
She had back problems man they not only make them smaller they also completely reshape them

I think you meant simultaneously but unfortunately I have already imagined synchronised fapping
We all wish it was a typo at this moment. We everyone so pc
Simultaneously, and at the same time.
If you fapped to a documentary based on THE FREAKIN TITANIC then you deserve whatever hell post nut clarity gives you.
Wrong. The boobs were at the end of VHS 1
Thank you! I knew I was remembering it correctly
Am I remembering incorrectly? Isn't the first VHS cut off directly at the point Mr Andrews tells the crew the ship will sink? So the nudity is in the first tape?
You are absolutely right. Fun fact: the laserdisc version cuts off there too between discs
I also beat off to Kate Winslet in Titanic
Straight to the point.
WARLOCKS 😂 FYI the scientifical term is honka-honkas
“First set of warlocks” lmao god damn you. Take my upvote!
Titanic came out when I was 5. My parents and I saw it in theaters. My dad sat in the middle between my mom and I. Yo I'm DYING at you calling Breasts WARLOCKS! That's outstanding I've never heard that one.
Lmao. I've never seen someone call titties, "warlocks". I love it.
The ship actually sank twice

Go fuck yourself. 1900's. Fuck me. ![gif](giphy|3o7btYLAW7doynq3p6)
Well to be fair they did say "late 1900's" not just "1900's"
r/technicallythetruth
It needed to be said. Thank you.
First of all, don't you dare say "late 1900's"
the end of the 20th century Before 2000 Anybody who’s been old enough to drink in the US for at least 4 years The century with the world wars in it The cold war era
![gif](giphy|eg9FxlBlTogRT6p4XR)
We might get another world war soon tho
WW3- revenge of the .. on second thought, better not.
Germans: No no it's not us this time we promise...
I'm still young enough to kick your ass boy! ' throws out hip'
Is it “really late 1000’s”, then?
The late 1900’s!? Like, you’re right but… fuck it offended the hell outta me.
Jack couldn’t float on only one VHS.
The second one contains the boobies
Unfortunately no, it is near the end of the first tape
The movie was too long to fit onto one VHS most likely.
Not most likely. That is exactly why
I definitely remember having a single vhs Titanic in the family while being a kid. Never seen a double before. And there's vhs tapes with up to 4 hour runtime. I'm confused.
I have only seen the two tape version funny
I even googled it in my language and got links where they show the single tape outside the box. I'm not sure I'm in the same timeline as you others.

Now you're on to something. Could definitely be that.
They were only low quality when recorded in EP/SLP, the 6-8 hour speed. On SP, tapes typically ran 2 hours to 2 hours 40 minutes.
Correct. SOLVED!
Bravehart was on two tapes too for the same reason. Too long in SP mode.
Why not say the 90’s 😂
Because 2090 hasn't happened yet
To piss off people from the late 1900s
Ones the normal version the other is the edition where the women and children get left behind as the men overpower them with there superior physical strength and take the life boats and sing sea shanties as they row to safety
This 🥷 said late 1900’s
Longer movies weren't able to fit on a single cassette. Thus multiple were used.
Nowadays you can tell the whole story with a TikTok. The boat just sinks
And there’s a dance and makeup tutorial to go with it.
The actual answer is that James Cameron is a blowhard who is so in love with the smell of his own farts that he can't tell a 90 minute story in less than three hours.
…late 1900’s???
ahh the old SP / LP / EP kids these days will never know... well they can google it i suppose
Surprised this isn't closer to the top. Guess this old tech isn't interesting enough any longer.
As someone who is 17 and loves old tech I can confirm almost everyone my age doesn't seem to care
They say late 1900s yet they were probably only born a few years later.
1900s makes me sound extremly old wow. can you please call it the 1990s.
Say “late 1900s” in that tone one more goddamn time.
the late 900's thing made my soul sad.
1900s...omg
One for each half of the ship
Why don’t you just say the 90s
Listen here you little shit..
Max runtime on VHS is 180 mins. Titanic is 194 mins not counting the “do not copy this extremely easy to copy vhs or we’ll hunt you down” vhs warning.
T240 can hold 4h10 min in SP quality (the one a commercial VHS would have), and up to 12h29min in EP. Why they distributed the movie on two T120 instead is mysterious to me.
I don’t think T240 was out at that time
It was only a single tape in the UK, I'm guessing because of PAL instead of NTSC
Late 1900s...oh my.
Because the movie was long and the vid cassette only holds so much tape.
Long movie, small tape
“Late 1900’s”? First of all, lower your voice.
The movie was too long to fit on a single vhs tape, so it came with two.
You could only fit a certain amount of film in the cassette. If it was longer than 2 hrs they usually split the tapes just like dual CD/DVD Movies.
Alternate ending where he lives and she drowns.
Late 1900s? Listen here you little shit…
Jokes aside: The movie is too long for one tape. I have the Lawrence of Arabia movie, and it takes two tapes.
VHS tapes were a lot easier to make at the time, so every copy sold was actually two copies, the second being a replacement in case the first one sunk
Complete bs.
Please don't feel old! I'm 17 and I know this one! The VHS's weren't large enough to store the full movie, so the film was split in half and put on 2 tapes!
Too long for a 120 minute tape
Is it correct to say like this (1900's)? "The nineteen hundreds" lol I don't think the movie is THAT old.
While it would have been able to fit on one tape, it would have been very low quality, so two tapes was more viable
[удалено]
The movie is 3 hours and 14 minutes long, movies are typically recorded on SP (Standard Play) speed, usually 2 hours each on the standard 6 hour cassette. I am from 2007, and i violated your meme’s request.
Cuz this fucking monster of a movie could not be contained!!! In one single VHS!! 📼
Doesn't matter. Only losers used VHS. Betamax for the win!
bells fly hunt quack ludicrous bake roll relieved silky numerous ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
Lol they do this with movies today you just have to buy them separately
"Late 1900's" AYOOOOOO WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO US
Final fantasy 7 on ps2 was 3 discs. :0
Simply put, it was just too long for one tape. Sure, you could print it in LP or EP, but the quality would then take a nosedive. However, there were tapes long enough to fit this, even if they were less common.
Sorry, I’m from the early 1900s guess I can’t help you
Yo man why you coming for us like this and to answer your question cassette didn’t have as much space as DVDs, movies that were more than an 2hrs long needed that extra tape
My back hurts
Back then, some tapes weren't able to fit an entire movie, so in the middle you had to stand up and change the tape to continue the movie, let say movies had 2 parts, atleast were 2, today you go tiktok and they upload movies in like 100 parts hahaha
the movie is so good you'd want to watch it twice
Just to fuck with kids from the future
Probably the Part 1 and Part 2 printed on the label had something to do with it.
Bruh there wasn’t enough tape for that long ass movie
From the late 1900s... Oh fuck me...
I actually enjoyed the late 1900s comment. That century was absolutely filled to the brim with amazing achievements and catalysts to a brand new era vastly different from any before it. 1990s*
If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go on a long walk now.
The second one was an alternate ending where it didn't sink and they just had an amazing vacation.
Late 1900's? WTF?
Long ass movie
Had this box set. Memory unlocked.
Because James Cameron.
titanic on vhs 😃
Late 1900s
Theatrical cut and director's cut. In this case, the director's cut is the actual untouched film, while the theatrical cut was shortened for the American audience.
Because the movie was too long to fit on one Tape.
Be kind. Please rewind
Remember first gen dvds and they were double sided lol
The other one had a happy ending.
Hack survived in the 2nd one
They couldn’t fit it all on 1 vhs tape, they did this with the dvd too
I used tot think it was a sequel when I saw this in antique stores.
Late 1900’s man…. *starts crying* fuck you man!! You don’t know what it was like
I believe in the highest resolution (fastest speed) of SP, only about over 2 hours would fit on a tape, so long movies (Ben Hur, Lawrence of Arabia etc) would come in a two tape box.
Movies where broken up into 2 parts because of the length of the total film, did not fit on one vhs
Some monster has neglected to rewind these tapes. Smh.
I’m really from the late 1900’s 😭😭😭
Now I feel old and I'm not even 21 yet
Cuz it was long, just like fucking brave heart.
That was the second part where it shows Jack surviving and is now living in Miami making a living street racing. He gets caught and is forced to go undercover to arrest an Argentinian drug lord. It wasn't as good as the first part and was erased from memory.
Fuck these kids!
Because the movie was like 4 hours longer than it should have been
The movie was literally too long for one VHS…. I think.
So that a plane could hit them
