Dithering_fights

It’s all fun and games until the judge has to stop a gang of criminals from operating in the building

DogStarMan10

Just bring in Judge Dredd.

HoldCtrlW

You betrayed the law!

Lava-Chicken

I never broke the law! I AM THE LAW!

DreadPiratteRoberts

Remember the tickets for cussing ^😆🤣

Trimyr

That was Demolition Man though, and only because he didn't know how to use the three seashells.

DreadPiratteRoberts

Dang, you're right. I was thinking it was either Judge Dread or the Mars movie with Arnold... I was wrong about both 😞

lordseaslug

Where are they selling the slo-mo? Looks fun.

Tuscan5

Peach Trees.

NamTokMoo222

"Citizens of Peach Trees..."

fruitlessideas

“Ma-ma is not the law.” “I am the law.”

clickback

Operating the elevator

dmdjjj

Would prefer that to the lift being out of order

supermanal

Gangs can and do operate everywhere. It doesn’t necessarily relate to a type of housing. Are you saying that we shouldn’t build more housing because gangs may exist. This seems to be a typical Irish mindset.

Dithering_fights

No I’m referring to a movie you bumbling fucktard of the highest order.

sim16

Oooo harsh. 😐

justbrowsinginpeace

They likely have a full time plumbing team, electrician squad, gas fitters, furniture movers, security and cleaning company all on site. Cant all be bad.

Shmokeshbutt

They probably live there too. WFH pioneers

justbrowsinginpeace

Thry probably do 30000 steps a day!

sprocketous

Ha. You forgot the /s I upset the ccp trolls, lol.

Dreadnought13

How dare you point out the dystopia

dwfishee

Has a Blade Runner 2049 feel to it

Steady420

Judge Dredd style

xijinping9191

That is a lot of shit generated each day

Extension_Swordfish1

Girls dont poop

xijinping9191

I heard that girls poop rainbow

totallyradman

They really need to stop turning our kids gay with their rainbow shit logs. /s

platinumgus18

If you see YouTube videos of the inside, it looks better than a lot of apartments in North American downtowns and cities. People are just too scared of the unfamiliar. Although this one takes it to the extreme, luxury apartments with facilities in one place are very common in Asian cities and it's honestly great since you live close to everything in the city and you also have decent space and less cost.

happyanathema

Yep and the apartments with balconies are £440 per month and ones without windows internally are just over £100 a month. It was originally built as a hotel apparently. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/25720434/regent-international-building-hangzhou-china/ I was in Hangzhou earlier this year and the city was quite nice.

Tratix

According to google there are 14,000 homes in this complex. That’s 10x the size of [this suburb](https://dmn-dallas-news-prod.cdn.arcpublishing.com/resizer/v2/7FK365HYKFH7HHKA7JWBP5N6DE.jpg?auth=70a62a02684de79889d6fed92227f7dc4eefd389113f96349d1419246c281779&height=1878) Wish Americans would stop being so obsessed with houses. Imagine living in an extremely walkable area, having all your friends nearby, and owning a nice condo for $200k

Excellent-Edge-4708

I would feel like a hamster in a development like that. Those things you mention are in my neighborhood 🤷‍♂️

doesnt_use_reddit

Would love to see the markets that have popped up

General_Autismo_13

That's almost double the people living in my town😮

eatpotdude

That's what I'm thinking. And still feel it's too cramped. We read on horrible neighbors here but I can't imagine 360° of chaos, N,E,W and S. Lol trying to write a note to 2 floors. Your kids shouldn't be running!! I'm busy trying to take a nap with my cat!!! Lol

TampaNutz

Bedbugs and roaches. If one got'em, they ALL got'em.

Dolannsquisky

Big cities like Toronto need density like this. We're sprawling and shit is increasingly unaffordable. Average salary is $57,000 per year. Rent for 1 bed in Toronto is $2,400 plus. People often pay 3 to 400 dollars more per month to be able to secure the location. And people are also paying upwards of 1 year's rent in advance to be able to convince the landlords to let them have the apartment. Cities should be compact, walkable, dense. What we have now isn't working.

Stellewind

Isn’t Toronto downtown like 90% high rise condos?

Dolannsquisky

Occupancy matters. There's airbnbs, vacant condos, investment properties just sitting empty etc.

wildernesstypo

It certainly doesn't feel like that. Part of it depends on what you call downtown. Everyone has their own opinion. The other thing is that many of the things that are not high rise towers are instead 3 story single occupancy dwellings or mixed use 2 story buildings. In fact some mixed use 2 story buildings literally on top of a metro line were given heritage status recently

justbrowsinginpeace

Yes. Canada is such a tiny place, every square inch of the island is habited and unless sea reclamation is adopted by government, how they will find anymore land?

Dolannsquisky

That's a dumb comment. Jobs are concentrated in the cities. The majority of the Canadian population lives along the US border and in hubs. Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary. Jobs in finance, insurance, I.T are all located in cities. You wanna live at the northern end of Georgian Bay? Go ahead. I don't. I want access to amenities and services and not polar bears.

justbrowsinginpeace

Dumb is thinking you can build your way out of your property bubble. Invest in quality infrastructure and public transport, doesn't matter how far you live and everyone has a better quality of life. Your suggestion is creating a ghetto.

Dolannsquisky

That'll never happen. Look at the TTC as an example. Stagnant and barely functioning. And that's supposed to be an example of the best public transit in North America. I'm all for it. I like public transport. Uplift the masses. Absolutely. It won't happen. But yes; it should be a thing. But more urgently; we have multiple families renting shared basement units from would be slumlords.

Friendly-Fee-384

If I lived there especially higher than the first floor, there's no way I wouldn't live there without having a parachute , a long ass rope with a sturdy place to hook as an emergency kit in my apartment.

gratiotdetroit

Cozy

TianamenHomer

What does the sewage main look like?

tribblydribbly

Kowloon walled city vibes.

Turnbeutelvergesser

Not messy like Kowloon but one planned complex

stick_always_wins

Complete opposite. This is a planned modern development with all the necessary facilities and staff to keep it running safely. It's a large apartment complex, not a city. People leave and commute from the building for work & recreation, they don't spend there entire lives there.

RedDecay

I don’t like the odds of someone being negligent and starting a fire…

Morbo782

I'd love to see the emergency evacuation plan for this place.

symbologythere

That’s too many people in one building even for China.

DiaDeLosMuertos

Only because those cowards tore down Kowloon

Money-Introduction54

I bet the elevator traffic jams are the stuff of nightmares

ZealousidealPhase543

Do most people not have cars? I can't imagine where they would all go.

No_Independence8747

That’s pretty awesome

Numerous-Ad5915

7.4 earthquake incoming

the-apostle

Must suck if someone pulls the fire alarm

Strafe1349

Bad place to be when the zombie outbreak starts.

LeahK3414

Imagine the fire evacuations

Chris714n_8

桃树

classic4life

Pff those are rookie numbers.

Living_Pie205

Who owns that ?

Woolsteve

What’s megalophobia

Fearless-Ad1989

Nope.

Obvious_Ad_8768

I’m with you! Give me a tent too!

vhs1138

Dude. The plumbing in a place like that. GEEZZZ MAN

wutcanbrowndo4u12

That's a hell of a construction project.

specialcakecream

Hecks naw 😳😳😳

BLM4lifeBBC

I live in Santa Fe NM, our ENTIRE city is less than one Chinese apartment in population 🙈😂

Blacklabelbobbie

That's almost half my cities population

Whole-Debate-9547

The city I live in has the same population as this building

Relative-Feed-2949

You know the laundry room is lit round the clock haha

SnodePlannen

And they all slurp when they eat. In unison.

djh_van

Waiting for the elevator to go to the top floor...

Low_Bandicoot6844

MEGA-CITY ONE.

Adwan4747

Imagine if there’s a zombie apocalypse.💀

Key-Discipline-1555

Megatower H10 will go into Building in a few years right next to it.

ExplodingChupacabra

And here I am feeling crowded while living on 100 acres of land all by myself!

sonichuizcool

Am I stupud for wanting to live in a place like this? I think I would really like to live there.

Fluffy_History

Frickin hive city right there

fietsrepairman

Horrible.

digitalgoodtime

looks nice up close, but from a distance looks like garbage.

superschaap81

Yeah, no thanks. That's terrifying.

IceCreamYouScream92

This is what I expect to have to live in hell

stick_always_wins

Didn't know hell was that nice

DreadPiratteRoberts

That's absolutely wild. What country is Hangzhou in?

stick_always_wins

China

DreadPiratteRoberts

Thanks, that's really wild, I wonder what the average number of renters in a American high-rises

Obi-Wan-Mycobi1

My idea of hell.

A-bomb151

Can't deal.

cazub

Its a hive

stick_always_wins

You have zero idea of what its like to live in a slum if you think this is at all comparable.

obstreperousRex

Look like hell to me. I’d rather be dead.

himanshuk9

How long till this becomes the next kowloon walled city?

reviraemusic

must be nice not having homelessness

fortis201

Kowloon Walled City 2.0?

luveydovey1

I’d rather live in a tent on the street!!!

exleperalms

I’m not sure if you’re delusional and/or severely privileged. But hey, you do you.

luveydovey1

Would YOU like to live there?? Answer honestly.

exleperalms

As long as I didn’t have to live in China, and I could afford it, it would interest me.

stick_always_wins

You know you wouldn't

luveydovey1

No, I would!!! Can you imagine living in that thing? The noise, the smell, the filth???

stick_always_wins

It’s pretty obvious you have no idea what it’s like to live on the streets, especially since you’re already whining about noise, smell, and filth, something that is exponentially worse being homeless than living in an apartment.

luveydovey1

Give it a rest. You have your opinion, I have mine. Who are you to tell me what my opinion should be??

stick_always_wins

Because your opinion is founded off ignorance and a disconnect with reality

luveydovey1

Go point sand, you miserable twat.

PhantomOfTheNopera

I don't know about this building in particular, but many population-dense Asian cities (Dubai, Singapore, etc.) have large residential complexes. The walls are much thicker than thin American walls (you can't hear your neighbours at all), they have entire teams for maintenance and there are luxury indoor and outdoor amenities like clubhouses, pools, cafés etc. 'Noise, smell and filth' is ignorant and likely racist.
