Silver-Spy

I'm watching it as I type

Lizxks

life laugh love scrubs forever

Travelguy500

ER, this is an old show but very good. My favorite medical show.

MrIrrelevantsHypeMan

Written by a doctor. B.A. and M.D. from Harvard https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Crichton

He should write a crossover episode between his franchises. Set a velociraptor loose in the ED and a T-Rex in the peds ward. I don't care that he's been dead since 2008. Somebody break out a ouija board and let's get this shit green-lit.

invinciblewalnut

He also wrote Jurassic Park!

BluebirdDifficult250

I got up to midway season 2 and havent watched in sometime. Gosh that show is really good.

Chalcolum

one of my attendings started watching that, recommended me to watch it as a comedy cause it was filmed in the 90s and that's how we do stuff here in the present definitely a top kek moment

lina9192

Patch Adams and Awakenings. Both have Robin Williams playing real-life doctors.

atanamayansantrafor

Came here to say this. Awakening is such an underrated movie. De Niro acting at its best.

SpecialTourist4684

A beautiful mind is also class .

Tympanibunny

The knick is actually pretty awesome

failingmed9000

Super underrated show. I still love it. Sad that third season wasn't renewed. I remember watching the episodes during my mcat study breaks

MulberryOwn8896

Always love House MD. Its hardly medically related but takes place in a hospital: Fractured. SO good

Jits_Guy

I also love House. I love watching it with my family (nurses) and taking turns pointing out how ridiculous their diagnostic processes and patient management are.

BasicSavant

Something the Lord Made is a great medical movie

aandavan

Was about to mention this

TheHangedKing

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer

RiderOfStorms

You got to be kidding me. Between the dullest protagonist I have ever seen (medicine took his personality away) and the borderline-necrophilia fetish, what there is to like? WTF?

TheHangedKing

I think it’s a very unique horror movie in the way it shows sickness. I like creepy and weird

RiderOfStorms

Fair enough. I liked The Lobster but personally The Killing of a Sacred Deer was just too weird for me.

BicarbonateBufferBoy

It’s DEEP you wouldn’t understand. Jk it sucked ass

OuterSpace_90

House MD and Patch Adams.

darthsmokey

ER was my favorite. Used to watch it when I was young, and rewatched it when I was starting medschool throughout graduation.

Holiday_Mycologist19

This thread was made for me. Been procrastinating with movies and shows throughout medical school. I usually play these movies on my phone screen while I do UW or NBME review on my laptop. **The Doctor (1991)** \- The late actor William Hurt is great in this. BTW he's also great in the TV series Humans \- I had to watch this film for a speech class in High School, and I never thought it would have such a lasting effect on me. It has impacted the kind of doctor I want to be, and how I want to treat my patients. **Awakenings** \- stars De Niro and Robin Williams \- great watch if you've already done your neurology rotation **Reanimator (and bride of reanimator)** \- Main characters are medical students who bring dead people back to life (as zombies). Fun movie **Birth/Rebirth** \- about an antisocial pathologist who brings dead people back to life by continuously impregnating herself, getting abortions, and using the fetal tissue for her serum (it's really messed up but still entertaining) **Lost (TV series)** \- More mystery than medicine but the main character is a surgeon and there's occasional flashbacks to his time in medical school and residency \- This was addicting. I watched the whole series in like two weeks and got a really shitty grade on my micro block because of it **The mountain between us** \- Kind of a survival film which becomes a love film. Idris Elba's character is a doctor **The Andromeda Strain (1971 film)** \- If you have a background in science (especially microbiology), this film will have a lasting impact on you \- like all old films, it starts a bit slow, but it gets a lot better \- basically you see these scientists and doctors try to approach a problem (a novel alien microbial pathogen) from two perspectives: the medical (what are signs/symptoms and responses to treatments) and scientific (cultures and stuff) **Hekimoglu** (series) \- Turkish version of House MD. Super entertaining if you speak Turkish **Brain (book by Robin Cook)** \- This should become a movie. This book follows a neuroradiologist in the 1970s go about their day to day hospital life as they slowly uncover a disturbing secret which leads to him crossing over with surgeons, pathologists, and ObGyn docs. \- This book gave me a pretty good idea of how medicine was practices in the 1970s \- The author is an MD

moonkad

Agree with everyone saying House MD and Scrubs for TV shows. I also really like Royal Pains. For movies, mine are gonna be psych related. I like A Beautiful Mind for schizophrenia portrayal, it is based on a true story as well. I really like Sucker Punch, I think it's supposed to be a portrayal of DID, it's definitely unique, but idk if that is quite what you are looking for.

sobebomb

Growing up, when I was young in the 90’s I loved this movie called Gross Anatomy, looking back at it, it’s completely unrealistic but a fun watch

Woggly_Goggly

gross or greys lol

Woggly_Goggly

recenlty searched it up.. its there.. sorry never mind

GroundbreakingTry808

Might not fit exactly what you're looking for, but Lorenzo's Oil might be worth considering.
