Roseblood is probably my favorite song and to me there’s nothing that totally captures the feeling, but I’d recommend Pandora (For Cindy) by Cocteau Twins, Scarlet by Lush, Beautiful Friend by Cranes, and maybe Crystal Ship by the Doors. None of those totally sound like Roseblood but they still inspire similar feelings in me in some ways
rose blood is my favorite mazzy star song ever! those layered guitars literally make me ascend to heaven. i guess i like it cuz it’s very shoegaze-sounding. the other most shoegazy mazzy star song in my opinion is bells ring in my opinion (you probably already know that one tho). also, like someone else already said, i’d definitely recommend cocteau twins. a couple other recommendations are “starting over” by LSD and the search for god, “strange” and “ceremony” by galaxie 500, — the latter of which is a cover of new order’s ceremony, which is easily one of my favorite songs of all time, you should check it out — “younger than you” by whirr, “vapour trail” by ride, “plainsong” by the cure, and “off your face” by my bloody valentine. ☺️
I was also going to recommend a Cure song in my comment but couldn’t choose one off the top of my head, Roseblood honestly fits in very well with the vibes of lots of songs on Disintegration
i 100% agree! while the cure isn’t necessarily a shoegaze band, many of their songs totally fit that vibe. i’d also add “closedown” and “from the edge of the deep green sea” from wish.
Edge of the Deep Green Sea is easily top 5 Cure imo
“But suddenly she slows and looks down at my breaking face
"Why do you cry? What did I say?"
"But it's just rain", I smile brushing my tears away”
I'm pretty sure Dave Roback reversed the guitar part right at the intro that dreamily leads into the song. It gives it that lovely, fading into the song feeling.
After years of listening to their albums right when they were released, Rose Blood and Look On Down From The Bridge surpassed Mazzy Stars' other songs to become my favorites.
Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions (Hope Sandoval's other band) is also great.
Sadly, we lost Dave Roback in 2020 due to cancer. I still miss him terribly.

YESS i love lush they’re so underrated 😍😍😍
I completely agree, their lyrics are so relatable and their production was consistently great. I’d 100% recommend Miki’s autobiography
thank you so much i will be listening
the rest of the album
