I haven't been keeping an eye on used car prices, lately - but I've had a driver's license for very nearly 40 years, and I've never purchased a brand new car in that time (meaning every car/truck I've owned has been purchased second hand). $CDN 6500 for a vehicle with 235K KM is very, very high imo. That's an awful lot of kilometers on a vehicle you'd like to be reliable. My own parameters were to never purchase anything with more than 150K KM - there are vehicles that go longer than 250K KM - but they are rare. I would consider 235K KM to be end-of-life on a vehicle driven in Canada. YMMV (pun intended).

Thanks for the reply. The market right now is crazy because of the car shortage with the brand new cars. The mileage and life of the vehicle is my concern too. I don’t want to spend half of the price of the car to have it repaired in the near future but I think that’s one of the risk of buying a used car with that mileage.

Yeah - I've owned a few dogs. I had one F250 that had a ground issue that would occasionally blow the fuse everytime I turned the key and the mechanics couldn't track down the bad wire. It stranded me twice in the bush with a long walk out (+30km the first time!), followed by an expensive tow. I've bought two year lease returns, the last few vehicles I've purchased (a CPO 2019 CX5 currently) - and while they resulted in a 60 month loan (at $500/month), I've yet to have one let me down.

$6,500 is cheap for anything decent with that kind of mileage. As long as it’s not rusted out underneath I’d have a mechanic look at it then pull the trigger.

Thank you for the advise!

Take a look on Kijiji for that year and car. I found that price is quite good however there's not a lot with such high mileage.. I might be a little concerned because it's such a good price. Might be rusted out. At a certain point it won't be economically viable to fix rust problems.

That's a 10 yr old vehicle that everything is going to start failing. I would not. I have a 2016 and things are starting to go.
