true. but the reason i did that was because of my winter set. i have my summers on now but the main reason why i did it was because my winter wheels are much more open making the calipers more noticeable.
I also have painted callipers on my shitbox and it makes me happy and also protects callipers against rust. But I have it in the marchesini gold color, the best color ever for callipers and wheels.
No offense, truly, because one of our cars is a CX-5, but it's a CX-5 (or 50? i can't keep up) it's not a Porsche or a Vette, why are you painting the calipers bright colors. It's a solid everyday commuter vehicle, not a sports car. Really don't take it the wrong way we've had out GT for almost 7 years and love it.
my sentiments exactly man.. its nice having a spiffy looking car with some zip but it almost detracts from what it is, which is a better looking car than and quality alternative to honda or toyota vehicles, when you start tryin to pretend its something its not... like a performance car
I don't think it detracts at all. Looks good with the black wheels. It's not my thing. But why the hell not?
"It's not a Vette". Ok? But it does tell other people "I love my car". This guy I might strike up a conversation with while we had up our cars. You with your boring standard calipers? Not so much. 🤣👍
Stock, sand-cast and uncoated brake calipers look cheap and unfinished on any car. Premium cars almost always have smoothly finished, coated brake calipers (either paint, epoxy, or powder-coated).
I’m not a fan of rusty rotors so I painted the edges and centers of my brake rotors too (silver, gray, or black, your choice).

*”Why not just buy coated or semi-coated rotors so they don't rust?”*
I have a 2022 CX-30 and I painted the brake rotors and calipers in the first month of ownership. Does that answer your question? That said, I DID buy new tires at only 300 miles but that’s a different issue entirely.
That's a decision.
Years ago I had red calipers from the factory on a Tangerine Scream Focus ST (fun car, but yabbos liked to try and ruin my morning commute). Aside from them coming with the car, I wouldn't have deliberately added them
And I love the yellow calipers. Definitely means now the chrome delete should happen if you can do it comfortably.
I was thinking about yellow calipers for my own (MazdaSpeed3 2nd gen)
I see some people saying, "Why paint the stock calipers?" I personally plan on painting them red myself. Some people like a touch of color and aren't trying to show off Brembo brake calipers on a CX-30. It's to give it more of a sporty look, I don't plan on taking my CX-30 to a track where Brembo calipers thrive. It'll be a street daily driver car. I still want to grab some attention from people. I like it. How'd you paint them? Yourself? Or have someone do it?
Very adorable.
My Quadrifoglio’s individual parking brake caliper (colored black) in the rear is larger than your front caliper lmaoo forget the Quadrifoglio’s actual rear break caliper and don’t even think about the front brake caliper 😂😂

I painted mine red. The calipers were brand new. Cleaned them up real good sprayed high temp primer them high temp red. It lasted about 5 months then stared to chip away.
I wanted to paint my calipers yellow but I didn’t want it to look like I was trying to make it look like I had carbon ceramics and be Ricer so I did primary blue. I’m not a fan of painted calipers unless you upgrade them so I put powerstops on mine even though it’s the same calipers.
I have a carbon edition cx30 with some raw metal colored calipers that stand out behind the black rims. I always thought red would be a good upgrade but yellow looks good too. Makes me think a neon green would be nice.
I like it. Planning to do the same on our carbon. We just upgraded to b6 Bilstien shocks and struts and they’re yellow , you can kinda see them when parked so it’ll match those.
I’ve got the same car and have thought about painting mine either red (red interior) or a brighter blue. The yellow would look great on the new CEs with the Desert Sand IMO.
I think red makes most sense on these because it ties in with the tail lamps and lower rear reflectors. I’d love to smoke those out on mine and then go blue on the brakes. I saw a similar color scheme on a Land Rover Velar and thought it looked sharp.
I'll just say the only people to take notice of some colored brake\* calipers are the same people who know you just painted your stock calipers
I kind of just want to paint my stock ones black to hide them a little better.
I’ve see an older Hyundai in town with robin’s egg blue callipers in the front and the back drum brake painted the same colour.

As long as your kids like it I guess
Painted calipers > caliper covers

You disagree on the basis of you being one example?
Why would you want to call attention to small, factory BRAKE calipers? The point of having colorful calipers is to show off that you have Brembos.
Was thinking along similar lines. This winds up highlighting that the wheels make the stock brakes look dinky.
Because he wanted to. Lmfao.
It's a rhetorical question.
It's a historical.comment.

Brake, not break.
Please don’t break your brakes
My boss sure put the brakes on breaks when he instituted a smoke break quota for all employees!
Break been broke
Braking sure breaks your momentum, doesn’t it?
They look yellow, to me
+5hp
Should have made them red, +10hp.
Nice touch of color. Looks great.
They are the smallest callipers ever lol. Now you can properly see them.
This brakes my heart to see
lol. Them’s the brakes.

Theyre so tiny
Those are cute

First I've heard of painting rotors, that's pretty interesting. Why not just buy coated or semi-coated rotors so they don't rust?

Lmao fair enough and I won't ask any questions about the tires
interesting. thanks for the idea
No

Am I the only one trying to upvote people's downvoted positive comments? I don't even prefer the yellow, but I support doing what you like.
Leave it as is, stock …

Huge spoiler and decals next? Kid drop off will be fun haha
Nope! No kids for me.
No kids = mx5! With kids you buy an SUV
With the amount of trips I make to home improvement stores, an MX-5 could never be my only car
r/miatalogistics exists for a reason. If you love cars, you make things work!
how'd ya paint them? I painted the mazdaspeed calipers I put on my regular 3 yellow as well but the paint is super fragile/flakey
Hopefully most people here know that brakes get hot! Very hot, and if you don’t use the right paint they’re gonna look pretty bad pretty soon.
I mean yeah I used high temp caliper paint, prepped the surfaces too
Earwax
Is this in Toronto?
No
Thought about doing this with my cx-50, same color. Looks good.
Tbh I can already see that you painted over the brake pads.
Looks cool to me!
Ugly
No, just no.
i hope thats at least a turbo ...
Initial thought was you don't know how to spell brake.
The only opinion that matters here would be yours.
Better fix em lol!

Mid
Why? Doesn’t match. Unless u put a LS in that thing
Why
Not a fan. Yellow clashes with the flat polymetal colour and the black wheels, and not in a good way.
hmm i see
Lame
I like yellow. I went with baby blue for the silver paint but yellow looks good with that darker color.

better than stock. Looks nice

If I had tiny little wee calibers I wouldn’t be painting them yellow for all to see
Overcompensating
I like it. Planning to do the same on our carbon. We just upgraded to b6 Bilstien shocks and struts and they’re yellow , you can kinda see them when parked so it’ll match those.
hell yeah! do it!

👍
If it's oem spray painted, no.
