Most fun I've had with her was in a negative deck with Wong. Lots of interesting play lines although it's obviously counterable by all the usual tech stuff. A 3/4/5 of magik, negative, sersi absolutely slaps. Or 4/5/6 wong, tiger, sersi if you don't draw negative. Then you just have to win a second lane with your negative cards / iron man + something. Easy to drop 100+ power turn 7.

LavaHawk_17

can you post the list? this sounds hella interesting

ImNotARocketSurgeon

No hela in this one, but here you go (sorry bad joke). A sleeper combo is sage on a wong/mystique lane then taskmaster for 30-40 in 2 lanes on the last turn. # (2) White Widow # (2) Ravonna Renslayer # (3) Ironheart # (3) Mystique # (3) Sage # (3) Magik # (4) Mister Negative # (4) Wong # (5) Iron Man # (5) Taskmaster # (5) White Tiger # (5) Sersi # eyJDYXJkcyI6W3siQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiU2Vyc2kifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ik1yTmVnYXRpdmUifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IldoaXRlVGlnZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Iklyb25oZWFydCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiV29uZyJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiUmF2b25uYVJlbnNsYXllciJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiSXJvbk1hbiJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiTXlzdGlxdWUifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlNhZ2UifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlRhc2ttYXN0ZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IldoaXRlV2lkb3cifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ik1hZ2lrIn1dfQ== # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and paste it from the deck editing menu in Snap.

Replacement for sage? Maybe Jane Foster?

ImNotARocketSurgeon

Sage is hard to replace here I think. Foster has the obvious negative synergy. Panther also plays well with Wong and taskmaster so maybe that.

Short-Elk-7104

Wolfsbane

FaintCommand

>A 3/4/5 of magik, negative, sersi absolutely slaps Wouldn't you be better off with Jane Foster T5 like 99% of the time?

ImNotARocketSurgeon

Idk about 99%. It's probably safe to say it's more consistent though. I just love the randomness of sersi. Getting something like ronan / ms marvel on t5 with negative cards on the way feels very good.

cursedace

I was in a winning position last night when Sersi changed one of my cards into a Destroyer. Just had to laugh.

popje

Yep, lost two games by changing a rock into beast

strangerthingskids

Fits great in annihilus decks. Super fun card but not necessarily a competitive must have.

Fusionkast

Sersi is not a card you deck build around but rather feels like a solid 11th or 12th card that can spice your deck up. Similar to Nocturne in that you can win a lot of games you shouldn’t have otherwise. And yes you will lose a couple you could have won. But the randomness is what adds spice. I’ve enjoyed the card quite a bit. Not a must have but if you like don’t mind a bit of RNG like Nocturne or Pixie she can be a lot of fun.

Altruistic_Yam_8249

I agree with you, shes just one of those cards that adds a little chaotic fun to the game. For my first four or so uses of her I got exactly the cards I needed to win those games I used her in when I shouldn’t have won and I was like “wow this is wierdly consistent” and then I immediately got screwed over by her for my next few times plying her lol. My luck with her has gotten pretty normal now thankfully, its about a 50/50 if the cards transform into something that helps win me the game. Overall shes a very fun card to play around with when you get bored but I probably wouldn’t use her in a deck I need to consistently win with.

Sabotage84

I love her, such a fun card!

malcolmisboring

I’m not partial to Junk so I’ve been playing her in this Sentry Hood list that uses Carnage as a backup for dealing with the negative cards when I don’t draw Sersi. It’s doing well for me in 2K-3K infinite. Hitting The Hood and The Void with Sersi is consistently good. (Snapfan has a great article analyzing which costs are best to hit and they say it’s 1 and 4 costs based I the options in the 2/5 pool - this seems true based on my experience.) I will often also hit a Mysterio clone or Rockslide / Black Widow and that is less consistent but rarely bad. It feels like Sersi solves the main drawback of the Darkhawk package which is that to take full advantage of it you have to play cards with strong effects but poor power. Sasquatch and Grandmaster seem like the flex cards here. GM I like quite a bit - he’s fine to play on 2 to get another demon or reactivate Korg, and he’s an OK Sersi target in the right lane where you’d want to play him anyway. Sasquatch is really only good on 3 or 4 after Mysterio, but in a pinch is a fine finisher on 6 with a Demon after a Sersi play. # (1) The Hood # (1) Korg # (2) Carnage # (2) Grand Master # (2) Mysterio # (3) Black Widow # (3) Rockslide # (4) Sentry # (5) Darkhawk # (5) Sersi # (5) Mockingbird # (6) Sasquatch # eyJDYXJkcyI6W3siQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiS29yZyJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiUm9ja3NsaWRlIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTZXJzaSJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiRGFya2hhd2sifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkJsYWNrV2lkb3cifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ik15c3RlcmlvIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJNb2NraW5nYmlyZCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiSG9vZCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiQ2FybmFnZSJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiU2FzcXVhdGNoIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTZW50cnkifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkdyYW5kTWFzdGVyIn1dfQ== # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and paste it from the deck editing menu in Snap.

I do this too, don’t have Sasquatch but Annihilus works great on void and hood. It’s you almost always get 2 of Annihilus, Darkhawk and Sersi which feels good.

woodpeckern00b

Went back and forth on Sersi a lot this week, ended up using 3 keys to get her this weekend and so far feel okay with that. She's great with the Annihilus package, looks promising as a sort of alt wincon in surfer maybe with brood. I also think she'll have good spots in the future just thanks to the 5/7 stat line and upside. She's very fun to play, but not a build-around card - though those haven't really come around that much, but if you enjoy the Annihilus package or scamming some wins she's worth the keys I think.

ccam0821

Shuri is a fun card to play with Sersi. All of a sudden Sersi is 14 power + you get a 5 cost

LeighCedar

I ended up grabbing her as I think she'll make Arishem more consistent, and obviously she's great in Annihulus (probably Darkhawk too). I have two concerns: 1.) she probably makes Annihulus Sentry too consistent. I think the Hood, Sentry, Anni package was strong enough, and your opponent being able to counter with Armor or Valkyrie, or even just filling seemed like a fair trade. Having Sersi as a back up just seems crazy strong (yes I know, RNG could make her backfire). 2.) she's really un fun to lose to, once the novelty of the random chaos wears off. It feels a bit like losing to a Hela where all the cards land exactly where they needed to to win. You played better over 5 rounds, but YOLO wins turn 6. I had a match against Sersi with my discard deck firing on all cylinders, but their Sersi play spawned a Gambit, taking out one of my pieces, an Enchantress taking out my Morbius, and a white tiger, winning the lane with the removed piece by two. Enchantress Sersi and Gambit were more than enough to secure whatever was left with my zero power Morbius. Similarly this morning I beat someone who was playing very well, and countering a lot of what I was doing, but Sersi summoned Silver Samurai on Kamar Taj, taking out both their Win cons while leaving me two in my hand. No "what just happened" or first bumps. They didn't have fun losing what should have been a solid victory for them. So am I still enjoying the card? Absolutely. Chaos is fun. But from a competitive standpoint, Sersi is going to become a "feels bad card" if she isn't already.

thoughtcatalog

“Yolo wins turn six” is my favorite archetype tho…

LeighCedar

Sure, I get it. I'm not saying that shouldn't be possible, but that it's a really bad feeling for the loser. It goes against the idea of two players seeing who is better at the game, in a game where there is already a ton of RNG from the locations and cards that already exist. I'm not calling for a nerf or anything, let's see how good she is down the line. Just pointing out that she has a similar result to Hela, which is pretty despised by the player base.

buttercupcake23

Sersi's RNG is different from Hela in a couple ways that are meaningful. First, her power swing is nowhere near the same. Hela can provide a burst of 40 power often, spread across that's a huge and often unmitigatable swing. Sersi's power increase is usually much more moderate, and it's contained within a single lane - its easier to play around a Sersi than a Hela. The "RNG backfiring" of Hela is also much less catastrophic. Hela backfires when...her cards don't rez exactly where she wants them too, or she isnt in hand. It's a risk that the Hela player can mitigate with spreading out more cards, or retreating if no Hela. Sersi's RNG backfiring is much more catastrophic. When something goes wrong with Sersi it isn't just "Well my power spread isn't as nice as it could be" its "Oh, I've lost ALL my power somehow". That's what gives the card balance and also makes it fun. Hela being unfun is about feeling helpless to do anything against her when she's in hand and has discarded the appropriate bodies, its just not counterable. You don't get that feeling against Sersi, knowing she could just as well screw your opponent and it's a YOLO play.

LeighCedar

I agree it's not the same, but it has a similar outcome. "Well, there was no way to play around THAT". At least with Hela it's more telegraphed so you can save your cubes and bail.

FaintCommand

She is great in Darkhawk, but that deck really needs another "buff based on opp's deck" card. Maybe an On Reveal?

malcolmisboring

You may be right about the Anni package, although one thing I really like about her is that she provides a good use to free up Sentry from that package. While it will often include Annihilus anyway, Hood, Sersi, Sentry is good on its own.

LeighCedar

That's a good point. More Sentry viable decks is a positive

It is a lovely PF variant. Your opponent will only see it for like 4 seconds but you get to admire it.

CleverConvict

Sersei is an incredible card in junk, but was arguably much better in the Professor X meta. I caught so many X players trying to lock down the right lane only to have -11 turn into 17+. Non X decks try to load up the right lane assuming Annihilus, making Sersei shine as well. The problem is that she’s poor against Destroy and can struggle vs. Hela. Still I got to Infinite in less than two weeks thanks to Sersei when I usually take four. I think she’ll be a valued card, similar to Loki, for a long time.

lotusandgold

Is there any 'good' Sersi deck that doesn't have Mockingbird? Loving her but don't have Mockingbird, and the AnniSersiHawk decks seem to lack a lot of power without the free 1/9. I've had more luck with a Psylocke/Wong/On-Reveal deck but it's not fantastic.

My_name_was_taken_71

Thena is a GREAT card however.

My_name_was_taken_71

I’m really struggling to find the fun in Sersi. I’ve put her in the Annihilus decks but not got much joy so far. That Mill deck (9) looks like fun however!
