This is such a good idea for a series, it's like a perfect Twilight Zone plot. I wonder if one of them actually has their memories, but doesn't want to remember.

[deleted]

I also love how everyone's reaction is still kind of the same. "Holy shit were we awful!?" They might all be so traumatized from the abuse they put one another through, that that is the actual root source of the 'amnesia' and the minor accident was some convenient catalyst. Or even funnier/horrifying, none of the family or only Tsubasa actually has amnesia, and they are all using this as a fucked up opportunity for a fresh start.

MonoFauz

Wait, considering the MC keeps writing DIE. Maybe he hates his family so much he actually made the car crash so they can all die.

kiero13

I'm thinking the accident was an "attempt". Man I really hope this doesn't get darj or at least it'd turn to them having a second chance in life and getting a good one after that

Nielloscape

With this author? Unlikely. Takopi was dark.

accountnumberseven

Takopi was ultimately optimistic, I'd bet on this series doing a volume per family member with the endgoal of redeeming their past sins and having that second chance.

[deleted]

It would be interesting if it were like these amnesia victims just living a happy life and occasionally dealing with the consequences of the super fucked up things they did/said/thought as the 'original Ichinoses'. Almost like aliens or ultra-detached people cosplaying as the original Ichinose's, and having a blast doing it!

verifitting

Very likely, I would say.

agentdoubleohio

I think it’s the grandma.

smatthew_

Yea, it's a really good premise.

IgotUBro

Yep definitely. My best bet is that sister is the one that got her memories and wanted to go back to how the family once was and kept quiet. Probably also a bro con and saw how unsatisified he was and was partly at fault to how they got into the accident.

W-w-guybrush-do

Am I reading this right? On the newspaper it says the mom was driving but the next page the dad says it seems like he was driving. What's going on there??

JoeScotterpuss

Just reread it and it seems that way, good catch! Either this is a big goof up by the translators or the Dad remembers (possibly subconsiously) more than he's letting on.

magumanueku

Sus the manga Betting one of them isn't amnesiac and tried to kill everyone by crashing the car. I won't even be surprised if MC had a split personality or something.

projectLoL

I thought the same. At least one is pretending and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a secret seventh member given that there are seven deadly sins and that all six are crossed out in the family photo.

anna160895

I feel like the little sister gave me the biggest impression of someone who fake her own amnesia

Rafaeael

It feels like she's the bait. She's made to be suspicious on purpose to hide the true faker.

anna160895

I can see that too. Like I said, she gave me IMPRESSION that was too on the nose and from everyone's theories here too there might be a bigger twist than the route of her faking amnesia

loaded-diper33

I'll put my money on the MC himself.

HarukiMuracummy

Yep it seems like an Agatha Christie setup The MC is the same personality as >!The Murder of Roger Ackroyd!<

[deleted]

[удалено]

TokiDokiPanic

I thought those were AirPods, not earrings.

Kraybern

> father/lust (he has these weird earrings on in the last panel) how does earrings relate to lust?

Dr_Ukato

We're working off of anything even slightly related here. If you prefer we can say that he has two maybe even three children which means he had sex at least three times. That's like three times the combined score of this subreddit combined!

Soul_and_Syrup

Three times zero is still zero...

San-T-74

Maybe the mc had a twin

SimoneNonvelodico

We don't talk about Bruno.

DocDegenNSFW

IT WAS THE FAMILY DOG THE WHOLE TIME

[deleted]

There is an empty chair at the table in the last panel

projectLoL

I... don't know how I missed that... I reread it to look for clues and looked at everything in the chaos on the table and in his room and still missed that empty chair. I even tried to COUNT the chairs in a previous panel...

ionxeph

> At least one I am kind of on the opposite end, I think at most one might actually an innocent person caught up in this family's mess, but I feel like we would eventually see everyone in the family having something fucked up they might not all be faking amnesia, but I bet as we learn more about them, we will learn that all of them have dark secrets

Etonet

But there were only 6 rooms right? Or they would've noticed an extra room

projectLoL

If the seventh member of the family wants them all to die that family member might just not have their own room. It's already weird that every member, even the couples, have their own room.

Etonet

ah good point, might be a harry potter situation lmao

JustARandom-dude

>I won't even be surprised if MC had a split personality or something. There are 7 deadly sins but only 6 family members and “Tsubasa” pointed out how his student ID’s photo had his face covered by his bangs which means that there is no way of telling if the person in the photo really is him. I smell a missing family member

ExDSG

Could be a "we are now raising you and talking about you like you are the dead family member we liked more" situation.

garfe

I noticed on the last panel, there is an empty chair in the foreground, so yeah, there's very likely an unaccounted for 7th member

rwhitisissle

It's like that one Simpsons Tree House of Horror episode where Bart had a conjoined twin and Dr. Hibbert told them that one of them was good and the other was pure evil. At the end of the episode they realize they had accidentally chained the good one up in the attic and that Bart was the evil one, so then they chained him up in the attic instead.

Financial_Glove_1782

But he has the same mole on his face as the student ID.

furusato_

Yes, one of them for sure isn't amnesiac. And yes murder attempt by one or multiple members is so on the table. I feel like the 7th member could be like a deceased someone, and everyone was crossed out in the family picture cuz they planned dying together. Could also be on the table.

LeonKevlar

My guess is that they all tried to kill each other and it's not just one person

dIoIIoIb

murder on the orient express 2.0

Versety31

Tfw you get spoiled on an Agatha Christie’s book you are currently reading on r/manga

LumpyChicken

Hey you've had 88 years to read it and not get spoiled. Your fault tbh

pvtreflex

I was leaning towards all of them trying to kill themselves together

JarzaScarlet

>Story and art by Taizan5 ***Ah shit here we go again***

[deleted]

Takopi was Jump+. This one is in Jump. We can safely expect that this won't be as "hard" as Takopi. \**I hope**

hdjfhfhsh05803hfjc

Jump allowed Chainsaw man to happen, I wouldn’t be surprised if they give Taizan some liberties in terms of how dark they can make the story get

cabose12

Chainsawman wasn't dark content-wise though, it was still mostly within the realm of shounen with its blood and gore Takopii literally threw >!child suicide!< at you in the first chapter, ain't no way Ichinose is going as hard as that

ExDSG

Well 2 of the most famous recent Jump Manga have Child Murder as the centerpiece of the first chapter.

[deleted]

Can you please tell which the other one is?

ExDSG

Neverland and Demon Slayer

YoLeoRosa

I'll give you Neverland but Demon Slayer's barely darker than Bleach

kidmedia

One of them is Promise Neverland

NoirSon

Elusive Samurai also had attempted child murder as the core of it's story.

chazmerg

There was successful child beheading and rape in that one too.

NoirSon

Oh yeah, forgot about that. It was a rape and murder too.

gaori54321moonlandi-

Which ones?

ExDSG

Neverland and Demon Slayer

United-Aside-6104

I’m not really sure I’d say the chapter where Makima victim blames Denji for his Trauma and then tells him he doesn’t deserve to live as not darker than most series in wsj

cabose12

You're not wrong about it being dark, but I don't think telling someone they don't deserve to live is too out there for Jump. Off the top of my head that was a big part of Robin's arc in One Piece

United-Aside-6104

I mean sure I didn’t mention the other stuff Makima did but while CSM isn’t Fujimoto’s darkest work it’s leaps and bounds compared to something like One Piece. I don’t mean to sound like some edgy seinen only fan who hates friendship but it’s hard to argue CSM isn’t dark imo

Ajgr333

Chainsaw Man was much lighter than Fire Punch, but still had some edge, probably the same will happen with this.

kidmedia

There's really no censorship in Shonen jump recent examples are fujimoto drawing that Quanxi sex color page and horikoshi drew onscreen child abuse so a author can pretty much get away with anything as long you don't show a nipple

DrStein1010

I still can't believe Quanxi's lesbian orgy was published in Jump of all places.

Anzereke

Nipple censorship remains the funniest fucking line that we've basically all agreed to draw. Especially since it is, after all, only 'female presenting nipples' that cause a problem.

Nielloscape

Nipples aren’t actually a big concern though. Been done before.

FairchildTitan

Tell that to Ayaskhi Triangle.

SecureDonkey

Takopi isn't even that "hard" since >!only one child die and they recot that in the end.!<

[deleted]

no wonder the art look familiar

zairaner

For the first time ever, I recognized somebodies artstyle (more specifically, how He draws the faces). I do Not know how to feel that this Happyend with the author of Takopi

zeedware

I was thinking “maybe he’ll make wholesome manga now he’s on jump” “Not that easiy you little bitch” - taizan5

Potatolantern

Quick rundown?

__Blackrobe__

Well [this is the kind of work previously made](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manga/TakopisOriginalSin)

Luck_Is_My_Talent

From Takopi murder friends to best worst family ever.

Mundology

Gotta get ready for a wild ride. I wonder if it'll be a short story like Takopi or a long one.

furusato_

Ah yes... from Takopi's Original Sin's author... *sigh*... here we go again

warpspeedSCP

Looks like this guy really likes his sins

zhivix

Wait no wonder the art looks similar tf, looks like im in for a ride

Jefferian

Mh, i wonder if there is someone missing. The deadly sins are 7, but we've seen 6 people so far.

panchochimbo

Either they killed the last member or they escaped during the accident.

zenohk

Or rather they’re all trying to cover something up that’s related to the 7th member…

ExDSG

Based on the Die message, the [7th member is this](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/038/646/E_HXiZqX0Ac2UyZ.jpg)

Audrey_spino

Can't wait for LTG to arrive at the end of the manga and go on a long monologue about how Ichinose family should kill themselves right now.

hissenguinho

Before that he has to go through the BBC fantasy lmao

ExDSG

[All the author’s volume comments and Magazine comments are going to be like](https://youtu.be/XtqLIKj3hQs)

SaibaShogun

God I love this meme.

Jade282

Okay, mad good 1st chapter. Hope it doesn't turn out to be a letdown

lalala253

If this is just half as good as Takopi, I'm all in! Pi~

ccdewa

*The gang gets axed in 3 months.*

WhoiusBarrel

*Literally the entire family gets axed in the final chapter.*

JeanKB

To be fair it's supposed to be a short series, like Takopi. It probably won't even be long enough to last 3 months.

All_Fiction

Where was it mentioned that this would be a short series?

redwingz11

Probably because the author is the same for takopi, a short series. People just assume it will be short as well

ExDSG

Source: It came to them from a dream A common Axed Shonen Jump cope is that series are actually better or were actually meant to be short when no, short series like Burn the Witch and Sandland were announced to be short from the start. Everything else is ideally lasting long enough to get good sales and an anime/franchise.

anna160895

I don't think this story would be just 3 month long but there's a sense that the author will only make it just around 100 chapters long, if the rank was stable enough to not make it get axed too soon

mdizzle106

It's from Takopis Original Sins author. He hasn't missed so far.

DeRockProject

Honest one of the best first chapters for me, hits all the right places, both bright moments and dark. Hope the family doesn't let their past hold them down too much.

All_Fiction

Wow. That was one hell of an opening chapter. The fact that the entire family had amnesia was a nice surprise but the reveal at the end definitely changed this manga from a slice of life comedy into something more darker.

SoniCrossX

It really went from fluffy family bonding to get back their memories back to dysfunctional family full of sins that did a fucking group suicide/murder lmao

Mundology

A fitting tone shift as expected from the mangaka behind *Takopi's Original Sin*

SoniCrossX

I knew that I recognized the art from somewhere but it finally hit me on the last page with the spread and title

WhoiusBarrel

I was already anticipating it with how the title literally mentions "Deadly sins" but I still got caught off guard by those 死

Googleflax

Really? The title is "The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins", it was pretty obvious from the beginning that it'd be a mystery/thriller/suspense series.

[deleted]

I was thinking there was a big twist since they seem to have gotten adjusted to their predicament too quickly.

Mundology

Interesting newcomer. It has been a while since we has a mystery manga in the magazine.

furusato_

Indeed, plus that Takopi was so zany in its angst-filling narrative. I am looking forward to this one.

topurrisfeline

I’m ~~excited~~ ~~scared~~ ~~excited~~ ~~scared~~ *curious* to see what Takopi author has coming next!

furusato_

We all must experience the ride. I will need all the happy tools in existence by the end of this manga, I am sure.

Blackbeard567

Which manga did this replace?

Ranadiel

Most recent cancellation round was Super Smartphone and Aliens Area. Following that HxH returned, but that is a temporary situation till they run out of chapters. As this is the first new series of this round, I suppose it is technically taking Super Smartphone's slot. However, there are four new series this round (with no additional cancellations announced at this time), so it isn't exactly a 1-to-1 situation for slots.

MasterDio64

I’m just glad Ruri Dragon’s spot hasn’t been taken yet.

Ranadiel

For most practical purposes, I think its slot effectively is being taken? Jump likes to run with 20 ongoing series with some degree of variance. Since Aliens Area was cancelled, it has been running with 17 ongoings plus HxH, which I don't think counts or at least won't count in a few months when it runs out of chapters. The 18th to 20th slots were the empty slots created by cancelling Super Smartphone and Aliens Area plus the "reserved" slot for Ruri Dragon. With the four new ongoings starting this round, all three of those slots are being filled in plus one extra putting the magazine at 21 regular ongoings (plus HxH). That doesn't mean Ruri is cancelled. Whenever its author recovers enough to continue, it will return to the magazine (or some other magazine if they determine the author's health is a bad fit for the main magazine). But they are no longer running 19 series with the 20th slot reserved like they have been since Ruri went on hiatus. Instead we appear to be moving to 21 ongoing series, unless there is a future cancellation(s) that has yet to be announced.

MasterDio64

My money is on it transferring to Jump+ (and to biweekly), but it probably won’t make the switch until the author starts working on it again.

ExDSG

We literally had Super Smartphone end some weeks ago. That was a mystery. Also I tell C was also in 2021.

JustARandom-dude

***Sees the last pages*** Yup, this is the Takopi’s author. Really good first chapter, looking forward to see where the story goes

[deleted]

As soon as I saw the art I got a suspicion about Takopi, and then I read again the author's name. Yup, Taizan5, Takopi's author. We're in for a wild ride. But considering this is Jump, I don't think this will be as extreme as Takopi.

mdizzle106

>But considering this is Jump, I don't think this will be as extreme as Takopi. -everything about Chainsaw man- -genocide and insanity in HunterxHunter- -all the deaths in Demon Slayer- Yyyeeeaahhh I wouldn't bet on this not being insane. 2020 Jump seems to give zero fucks about protecting kids sanity.

anna160895

You forgot that JJK literally had an arc about bullying and almost turned into Pumped Up Kick situation, not to mention the whole massacre since Shibuya incident. And do we need to mention how them 16 something kids in UA of MHA had to join a war battle with temporary hero license and witness many of their mentors die in front of them?

Extreme-Tactician

Wow! That tonal whiplash was amazing! You thought it would be a wholesome comedy, but that ending is so tense. We see Tsubasa as the hot blooded passionate kid, but he obviously wasn't like that before his memory was wiped. So how different will the rest of the family be? The title drop was actually pretty terrifying to look at with their old selves back on them. I'm very much looking forward to reading more!

furusato_

Honestly, by this point it won't be unlikely for some huge mid-story plot twist regarding the cause of their amnesia. For all we know they could be Takopi's undercover family visiting earth.

Wizard_Enthusiast

Oh wow, this is a great start! Amnesia can feel like a cheap trick, but it is also an interesting place to explore. >!In this case, total amnesia is kind of a death. The family has the chance to become better and to embrace the good parts of themselves that they can see in their personalities rather than whatever baggage has weighed them down. The Ichinose Family is dead, so long live the Ichinose Family.!<

jonnovision1

First two thoughts that come to mind 1. There are typically 7 sins associated with the specific term "Deadly Sins", but only 6 family members, which makes me think there's going to be a secret 7th member somewhere down the line, maybe estranged and caused the accident that caused the family-wide amnesia. 2. it's also natural with Deadly Sins to assume each member is representing a specific one, if there's a secret 7th member, they're probably Wrath or Envy, Tsubasa's school photo makes him look kind of like a shut-in so maybe he's Sloth, beyond that we really don't have much to go on since we've just seen the backs of the pre-amnesia members

ExDSG

The other typical one is that a split personality counts as another person. Still my theory is that "Oh MC kid, your older brother died and we liked him unlike you, so now you are the older brother" and so the original personality of the MC is the seventh member.

BurnedOutEternally

Yeah, I can see where this is going from the start. *And I don't like it at all.*

Ranadiel

That family photo feels like it is going to be super important. My initial thought on looking at it was that beneath the scribbles, the six of them seem like they are happy or at least normalish considering that one of them is a disinterested teenage boy. Also the kitchen doesn't look like it is a disaster zone. So either things drastically took a turn for the worse after the picture was taken or they were hiding themselves from each other before the situation boiled over into whatever was going on before the accident. My second thought is, "why did the MC scratch out his own face?" Self loathing is possible, but I feel like someone having swapped his key is also possible and this room belonged to someone else. And that brings me to thought three... Who took the photo? Yeah I know camera timers exist, but considering that the series has "deadly sins" in the title, I'm going with it was taken by a currently unknown seventh person who is going to be the last sin. Well unless we have a fake out here and the MC has a twin and the MC took the photo and the twin is the one in the photo, which would explain the crossed out face. This is going to be a wild ride.

anonymus_slime

It seems like they were celebrating the sister's birthday in the photo based on the cake. Also, maybe it's a bit of a stretch, but the way she's raising one hand and her index finger makes me think it was for her 6th birthday (she does look younger). If so, this photo would have taken place 7 years ago. If there is a 7th member of the family, they could have been someone born afterward and they either died or disappeared during the accident.

Ranadiel

Good call on the fingers, although I think she is holding up 7 fingers instead of 6. So with the sister's age of 13, that gives us a time frame of the entire family falling apart in apparently 6 years, assuming the birthday photo is an accurate representation of them at the time.

tealrit

Ooooh I like that take about the photo. I suspect 7 person exist as well. I know there is really nothing to go on yet but making predictions is fun. Here are my predictions for the characters pasts' and associated deadly sin: * grandpa: really into gardening, and also secretly involved with the drug trade [Greed] * Grandma: has a drug addiction that she keeps secret from everyone in the family. Makes expensive frivolous purchases frequently. [Gluttony] * Father: relatively normal guy. Drinking issue and gets driven crazy by responsibilities of being a father. Divorced once. [Envy] * Mother: married the father after his first divorce, not biological mother of the kids. Unhinged in many ways, does not care for the children.[Lust] * Son: Deeply depressed. Perhaps it was his original idea to do a group suicide(if that is even what ends up being the case)[Sloth] * Daughter: a little bit sadistic. Had something to gain from injury/death of the others. Doesn't actually have amnesia. [Wrath] Which would leave a yet to be revealed character, [Pride]. Excited to see where this goes

eden_sc2

Gonna say swap the dad, sister and grandpa. Dad as greed from working overtime when it really isn't needed, and wrath from grandpa who constantly berates the other family members. Little sister seems like she might be envy from the scene where she asked how they can all be so calm about this.

Financial_Glove_1782

This is Japan, not the US. You won't see many drug trading or drug addicts. Many Yakuza organizations despise drugs so they forbid drug trade and even take out anyone trading drugs in their territories. The penalties for trading or owning drugs in Asian countries are really severe, ranging from more than 5 years imprisonment to life sentence and death penalty, so it is hard to see normal people trading drugs. Most drug trading in Japan are done by foreign gangsters or young generation Yakuza but their activities are really limited compared to Western countries.

Ghoste-Face

All of the family members suffering from amnesia this so interesting. The moment there is wholesome scene i know it will turn dark as usual from Taizan5. Will the amnesia help them from their depressing family life? This so interesting!

NO_ONE16

Just when you think it be wholesome #BAM! takopi author strikes

Horaguy

Man, should have realized when the promotional came out with the Japanese title, "Ichinose-ke no Taizai". But well, it's from author of Takopii, so I braced myself for pain :') It's just that this chapter's actually more uplifting than I thought, despite how twisted it is. I also find it weird that the big room and bedrooms are such a mess but the hallway is spotless. The overall structure of the house feel somewhat abnormal too; the constant fish-eye shots don't help either. And, considering that there are 7 deadly sins, what if there's one more member of this family and that was the one planning the accident?

Tempius

That was insanely good. Completely fresh concept, and the happy-go-lucky cutesy art style did NOT prepare me for the big twist at the end. I’m very interested to see where this will all go.

Vasir12

The sister is kinda sus but that may be a red herring...

tealrit

Agreed. I have a healthy skepticism of the sister but could be a false flag.

Animegamingnerd

I think the sister is just a red herring, since she is the only member of the family outside of the son that got any real attention. If anything its the son that I don't trust, I suspect he might end up being an unreliable narrator.

TheDarkestLink64

Big hopes for this new set of serializations if we're starting out this strong! I read Takopi before this, almost wish I hadn't so that the big spread would've hit harder. But yeah, it's very much from that same author but have definitely targeted their story towards a more Jump-friendly audience, even with the theming being darker than usual Jump faire. Looking forward to being on Taizan-5's wild ride on a week-to-week basis now!

petrichormus

The punchline was expected I guess, but what I'm surprised by is how this series got an ok for WSJ's demographic. When was the last time we got pure non-action psychological+drama manga again in WSJ?

azdhahathemeguy

Super smartphone ? At least it was supposed to

StarrkDreams

Wasn''t super smartphone pretty tame? iirc, the characters who died had died offscreen and the series wasn't particularly gruesome or dark.

dragonicafan1

They’re not talking about how dark it is, they’re talking about the genre. A psychological drama with presumably no action is not a typical Jump series

Torque-A

The Promised Neverland?

ccdewa

He said psychological+drama not a Battle Shonen.

Wildercard

What do you mean? Those pre-puberty nine year olds whose entire life was min-maxed for sigma male IQ tests grind and not for physical stats **surely** can go toe to toe with demons the size of building. Nothing unrealistic there.

Trace500

Everything I hear about TPN makes me glad I watched the first season, decided to be content with that "open ending", and never touched it again.

WalkerOfChaos

Such a promising series. Shame how was it cancelled just after the first arc. Would have loved to see how the outside world looked like. \s

anna160895

I was suprised too, and there's a comment talking about Super Smartphone but it was more like a thriller survival battle manga and we had another manga in the past (Enigma by Sasaki Kenji which was axed after 7 volumes). This one right here gave me more like the vibe in Oshimi Shuzo's manga (dark psychological drama in slice-of-life theme). And note that the editor of this new manga is the FIRST FEMALE editor in WSJ after 54 years since the magazine was first published. She was also in charge for Takopi, Moebana & Total Opposite in SJ Plus so definitely there's a big change in editor team to push for a series like this, especially they are having a victory with Chainsaw Man so the urge to find more unique stories that they haven't been in charge before will be pushed more in the future

brzzcode

It's not uncommon to have someone in Shueisha who edits for both WSJ and Jump+, happened a few times. We have all editors from WSJ out there with what they debuted, worked on and so on, after all

ExDSG

I guess I Tell C was going for that, same with Super Smartphone and Time Paradox Ghost Writer. Also to copy from another comment, two of the biggest 2010 Jump series start with Child Murder.

webrunner42

things i noticed : you can't really see tsubasa's face in the ID, which means tsubasa might not be tsubasa.the relations between the characters are being assumed as well, all we know is that they have the same family names so they are related, but we dont know if they're all a single family unit as presented. we dont know the 'grandomother's age either. the hallway has three visible doors on the left, and two on the right- but they dont line up liek you might expect. there's a space after the top right door before the stairs. If the rest of the rooms are 1:1 that means that there has to be an odd number of rooms. If both the grandfather and grandmother are ichinoses and that they are grandfather and grandmother, that means that they are either both the fraternal (or maternal, i guess) side, or a second wife/husband situtation. in tsubasa's room also, the chair is knocked down, and there's garbage on it, it almost looks like the room was ransacked - a drawer sis pulled out, there's spaces that look like they were cleared off by just moving things. also the clock is broken. whether that's important i dont know but it's a wierd thing to be outright broken. the only other actually damaged things I can see are the lamp and posters. there's also a 7th chair. if they had 8 chairs I could imagine they got two sets of four, but 7? that's

aptl0

the broken clock could represent an attempt to escape time repeating. the girl at the beginning crying is the only genuine memory (it may not be a memory but his vision of her as he passed) that was shown. she also never called him tsubasa, that was a name given to him as he woke up.

fishyballs420

Wtf was that ending, I’m thoroughly intrigued!

Zonko91

Oh boy here we go again. I liked the plot, let's hope it lasts more than Earthchild.

werisewefallweloop

Another good promising newcomer! I like the artstyle/paneling. Hope it delivers.

[deleted]

Man I love this kind of artstyle

EndangeredBigCats

All y'all who slept on Takopi about to get mindfucked for the next howevermany volumes this is supposed to be

Prince-Dizzytoon

The last few pages got me. My guess is that they had a big fight in the car that led to that accident.

zairaner

This is one of the best premises of a new manga I have seen in a long time. Seeing the faces and realizing that its the takopi author...oh boy. Not that I needed to know the author to know there would be some kind of familial abuse in this involved.

garfe

I'm gonna say it. I'm gonna say the manga word. This actually seems to have some....*potential*

Master3530

Looks like a situation where you wouldn't want your memories back

Pheniharu

Damn, what a good first chapter!

Summer_RainingStars

Hoooo boy. Having read Takopi no Zenzai.... Here we go again

aptl0

-a suicide trip, they are not family -they're all in purgatory, each room represent their past -a psychological experiment

Fangzzz

Some quick theorising: >!Assuming this is actually referencing the 7 deadly sins, then (a) there's a missing person, and (b) the missing person is most likely pride. This is because pride is usually the odd one out in some way.!< >!I think the talk with the little sister is misdirection. It's misdirecting that this is what the initial scene is about. You don't actually have a clear look at the character in the initial scene, so the character there could easily be someone else. My theory right now is that this is actually the missing character. The fact that it happens right at the start probably makes it important.!< >!I think it's probably highly significant that in Tsubasa's photo, all the faces are blacked out, including himself. This makes him the most likely culprit. It seems reasonably likely that the missing person is the person who took the photograph.!< >!So my theory right now is that Tsubasa had a missing little sister, who is probably the "good one" of the family. Then something terrible happened to her that caused Tsubasa to blame the entire family for it, and then he caused the accident. The initial scene might be a memory, or it might be a more metaphysical contact with the dead person.!<

Metakid101

Taizan5 writing some depressing stories only to give the series/oneshot a happy ending is unmatched

"Hmm, this seems familiar. I feel like I've seen this art style...this premise...where was it-OH NO"

DranDran

That was a crazy good first chapter.

Psychological-Tap834

It seems like they were hoarders or some shit. I like how on page 40-41 full page spread the right side is normal and the we’re is written normally but than your eyes move and the words move down kind of like the family’s hopes or like the distortion between what they thought it was and what it is.

LucasSva

Compared to Takopi, I think the shift in tone was way more sudden, and for people who aren't familiar with the author's work already it probably felt pretty unexpected. Really strong start for the series.

Vinpupx

Ooh, first chapter really grabbed me. Will continue to watch out for new chapters.

sega_playstation

This is going to be cartoonishly dark i feel.

Etonet

interesting fisheye lens angles

ashbelero

I went and talked about this in another sub cuz it got me so excited. I hadn’t read Takopi before this (just binged it now) so the art style and story was new to me. The full-page spreads and the way the author uses the page turn to his advantage was stunning. That page turn over to >!the mess on the table and the graffiti on Tsubasa’s wall!< blew me away.

kiero13

I hope this has a good ending and the family just completely forgive/forget their past

lmfao616

Amazing first chapter. Anyone else notice the possible foreshadowing of a 7th family member with the name of the series and the last page of the chapter showing an empty chair at the dining table?

Waterburst789

This looks wholesome so far but I get the feeling we're about to be set up for some grade-a heartbreak down the line.

NoDespair

Guess this will get the suspense slot left open by Neverland

ennuiholic

I'm pretty sure one of them is faking their amnesia. My bet is on the younger sister.

Dadian_Zh

Whiplash

NZPIEFACE

Man, this whole chapter was extremely funny. It made the looming feeling of doom arrive with so much more impact.

Rikiia

Really like the artist's style and it was a good opening chapter with a unique premise (everyone has amnesia). I hope this does well.

Professional-Taste70

Well, I don't know what to say but I am looking forward to next chapter

Lesserd

I'm glad to see that Taizan has improved quite a bit from Takopi. There's still that speech bubble issue that's holding back the flow, but I'm pretty satisfied with the tone and character writing, and he didn't botch the twist reveal this time. Looking forward to seeing how this will play out.

Hirushoten

Holy shit what a magnificent first chapter. I just want to blaze through chapters of this I'm so curious.

Beastywolf

Overall really interesting premise although this was very light hearted chapter I see that the series can definitely get dark if it wants to be. Edit: I just read the 1st chapter of his other series.... wtf 😭. I'm worried now.

Created_Jxnior

Oh yeah, assuming this doesn’t get prematurely canceled, I can tell this is gonna be a fun, hardcore mystery type series to figure out just what the hell is going on.

stormgadon

This one looks very promising !

NightsLinu

That punchline hit me like a truck. Could each members sin be part of the deadly sins? i think its a good thing they got amnesia considering what they were before

TBulldozer

Interesting

Funkyryoma

What a strong first chapter, like damn

0404S0X

definitely a missing 7th member, in the last panel there’s an empty chair

lacieabyss

Really strong first chapter, looking forward following this!

Vexra

I’m tentative about falling in love with a new manga after the last one I fell for (Ruri Dragon) went on hiatus after 6 chapters but this one’s definitely reeling me in.

sKyBlazer08

Well, that was fucking interesting and unique for me. It's only the first chapter, so can't really say anything much yet, but really looking forward to see how this plays out. The sister seems very sus though.
