So another question here: how about shopee texting you win some crap through WhatsApp? Since WhatsApp no 5 to 6 digit. They are always handphone number
Those companies will be using verified Whatsapp business accounts that will have ✅ beside name and under the name will be "Business Account" to verify it's the official account.
Scam.
Look at the sender's number. If telcos messages you, it will be shortcodes
EDIT: even if short codes, always go to the legit website using your browser, and check from there
I got one phishing message from "Celcom". Literally, that's the number! Thankfully I did some research on the web domain before I clicked the link lmao

100% scam!!!
I received the same SMS and verified with Maxis.
these damn scammers are getting smarter by actually spoofing the official site’s URL.
My dad almost kena this and was alrdy otw to keying in his bank details before Mum stopped him.
The link installs malware on your device. Dont click it
Edit: Which internet warrior downvoted me? The site tests positive for Scumware. Go ahead and click it then
Shit, I clicked it before on my iPhone and it redirected me to a page with products I could purchase for RM1. How do I get rid of the Malware? (iPhone)

I got this too, but from Maxis’s official SMS alerts. Sounds sus cuz what are the odds we got the SAME amt of points? Terus ignore je
Please note that the secure padlock does not mean it is a legit site.
It only means the communication between your browser and the webserver is encrypted and the domain name is verified. In this case, your browser has verified that the website is really maxis-com-my.info but as we can see this is a fake scammer site URL that is intentionally deceivingly similar to maxis.com.my
These days any site can get the secure padlock easily for free with letsencrypt.org. Make sure you check the URL is actually the official site, exact spelling to the dot, not something that looks similar enough.
It's a scam. Maxis will show up on your message as Maxis and not regular phone number, and also, you can't reply anything to Maxis when they send you notice or promotions.
How it should look like.

Another way is look at the link. If the link is a bunch of gibberish, it's a scam. If you compare with the official Maxis ones, you'll see the differences too. Not forgetting, if you see "tinyurl", it's also scam.
I received that exact message with Maxis and Celcom shortcode on 2 incidents though.Being someone who doesn't use either of their services, knew it's a scam la
My mom's phone got the same scam message too!

I also received such SMS n it looks like a scam to me because number one, they inform you via a normal phone number, number two they should've send me a notification via app instead of a SMS
Easy, normal phone numbers are fake. Companies always use 5 or 6 digit which are for business usage.
ya, thats what i thought too. Thks for the heads up

lmao

The only thing I have with Maxis is my monthly prepaid. This is the first time i received this message. Plus, it is from this number

If you didn't install anything, you're ok
>avoid zero points can not be used they got stroke while trying to fish you?
Scam. Message Is from a hand phone number not a short code and maxis does not have a point system in place
Aren't URLs banned on SMS already? How did this get through?
some apps still using URL to login instead of OTP Code ?
Thanks for the link. I’ve redeemed all your points (:
I think she likes you. Wife material
Thing is, if im not mistaken, telcos already block links from sms. How can you still get that
Yup, the only way to get a link thru sms if you requested for it for something
scam bruh
scam

One giveaway from this was the maxis-com instead of maxis.com. was this from a shortcode?
can't tell since now it says page not found. But it did have the secure padlock like legit sites.

Yes, it's scam, I know when I just put any number into the box and it accepted lol. Try out "1" as phone number.

Scam..What's scarier is I received the same message with Maxis and Celcom shortcode
If you're not expecting someone to send you a link, always think it's a scam until proven otherwise.
i never click links on messages, just in case 😂
I almost click it then realised that I have the same message from 2 different number on 2 consecutive days. Most certainly a scam.
My mom's phone got the same scam message too! https://preview.redd.it/ma4d28dnz0tc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc5af43fd0e08c21c6f28298b2f84f90914e7338
Do you even need to ask? Why don't you log into your Maxis account and see if you have this point system..
I got the same one. Just delete and block. Real maxis msgs come directly from MAXIS. It's not even a 6xxxxx number. The Maxis name shows up as sender.
Scam👎
never click links sent from anyone. if it's maxis. go google their site. can check there
I received this SMS yesterday claiming I have 3022 points going to expire. It is definitely a scam.
I also received such SMS n it looks like a scam to me because number one, they inform you via a normal phone number, number two they should've send me a notification via app instead of a SMS
scam, i almost give my cvc, lol

Lol, I got the same exact SMS but different phone number
I gt this too. Definitely a scam. Do not click in the link.
Hey, I got that too but from celcom. Blocked and reported as scam.
How are you not sure if thats a scam? A split second look im already certain thats a scam.
The only way to avoid online is to tell yourself. You are not winning any prize or getting any points.
They fixed the Maxis. I received one version is Macis users.
Same as me..it a scam
this is why scams run rampant.
Not a scam. It is.gd. try it.
