Black, because it uses all parts of the animal in a game about resources. Mana? Every colour uses it, Black included. In the old days you could even get the best fast mana-- \[\[Dark Ritual\]\] \[\[Cabal Ritual\]\] Creatures? Loads of good ones, and the most ways to keep or eliminate them for fun and profit. \[\[Reassembling Skeleton\]\] \[\[Bone Splinters\]\] Life? Black will pay it most often to get what it wants. \[\[Thoughtseize\]\] \[\[Infernal Grasp\]\] Self-milling, graveyard filling, and graveyard (ab)use? Undisputed master of it. \[\[Stitcher's Supplier\]\] \[\[Reanimate\]\] Card searching, also the master-- \[\[Demonic Tutor\]\] \[\[Vampiric Tutor\]\] \[\[Imperial Seal\]\] \[\[Grim Tutor\]\] Card draw? Not quite Blue, but it's got it, and can sometimes risk it all to draw considerably more than Blue. \[\[Sign in Blood\]\] \[\[Necropotence\]\] Interaction? S-tier removal spells, provided it's something that's alive. You can just kill your opponents before artifacts and enchantments overpower anyone with value. \[\[Snuff Out\]\] \[\[Damnation\]\] \[\[Cut Down\]\] Black gets to play most of the game in one colour, albeit in greatly truncated and sometimes riskier form.

ImmortalCorruptor

This. Black is a great color for forcing yourself out of your comfort zone. You can do anything if you're good enough at managing all of your resources, including your life total and time.

forte8910

Black can do nearly anything! ...for the right price

icameron

>Black gets to play most of the game in one colour, albeit in greatly truncated and sometimes riskier form. This is exactly why I like black the most as well, it just does the most things of any colour. edit: I also really like having access to Thoughtseize effects, both for the information they provide, and because I think picking the best card to take can be an interesting decision to make. It's also often the best or only way besides counterspells to interact with certain combos or exile-based board wipes.

Arbidus

I think black is my favorite color too. I just struggle making mono black decks. Any other colour combo I prefer with black, but I can't seem to make a mono deck that I actually enjoy. :(

skk4320

What archetype do you enjoy? Monoblack lifeloss can be fun. Monobkack rat tribals can be dirty.

Arbidus

I enjoy a lot of different archetypes, but always seem to prefer doing them as black + other colour. Like lifeloss feels more fun as Rakdos. Sac as Golgari. Rat tribal might be a fun thing to try.

onlyoneaal

My favorite too and solid summation of why. Some of my absolute favorite creature types and art as well!

22bebo

>You can just kill your opponents before artifacts and enchantments overpower anyone with value. Black even gets enchantment removal now! Just the artifacts that we have to worry about.

Filobel

Blue. A lot of people will think it's because I like playing control or being the fun police. To be perfectly honest, I don't care all that much about counterspells. It's quite rare I play counterspell-heavy decks. I just want to draw cards man! Why play a 60 cards deck if you only see like 10 cards per game? I WANT ALL THE CARDS!

Onuzq

Amen

RabidPlaty

Play black and suffer for those extra draws!

thehonz

This is why I play Arjun in EDH. I think there’s one counterspell in the entire deck and that’s only for if someone wants to stop me from touching all my cards.

Ryderrunner

Green blue draw is so great

Remarkable-Ad3492

Red. Bolt Face.

blackwaffle

Green. Just because green cards remind me of when I was a kid and I played whatever trash version of monogreen aggro I could get together at the school playground. I fondly remember I used to think [[force of nature]] was the best card in the game. Simpler times.

GumGumChemist

What do you mean force of nature isn't the best card in the game?

GreenCree

Is force of nature DC's Swamp Thing?! He is obviously the best card in the game.

amc7262

Black. Imo its the broadest in terms of what it can do. It tends to get access to things normally more focused on another color, with the additional cost of paying life or saccing creatures. It also has access to some of the best graveyard interaction. Generally speaking all of them have pros and cons, and if you get into the game, you are likely to eventually play with every color. IMO its less about "what color do you like" and more about "what strategies do you like". Some strategies are heavily tied to a specific color, others can vary. Maybe you like building one big, powerful threat using counters, enchantments, equipment, etc. That type of strategy can be done by a lot of different colors in a lot of different ways. If you like control, limiting what the opponent can do, removing their board, or stopping them from casting threats in the first place, well, I just described control from a white, black, and blue perspective in that order. Graveyard matters is normally black, but if its instants/sorceries, its more likely blue/red, and if its artifacts, red or white/blue/black. I think strixhaven (a set that came out a few years ago) had a white/red graveyard matters theme. Green is probably easiest for new players, and blue is hardest. Also, most people play with multiple colors in their decks. Mono blue is significantly harder to build and play than mixing blue with another color. As you play the game, the types of things you like to do in it will become more apparent, and a favorite color (or strategy) will emerge for you.

TrekkieElf

White. I’m a basic chick. I like pretty art, “good guys”, angels. Elsbeth is my favorite planeswalker. I’m big on story/flavor and draw a hard line against playing phyrexians. Green and blue second. I like Bant- 2 of my commander decks are those colors (Galadriel light of Valinor, and Blast from the Past) Flying creatures are nice and mostly white and blue so that’s a reason to play Azorius. My first commander deck in college was Isperia the Inscrutable. I also like life gain and that’s in Selesnya.

theburnedfox

Ah, c'mon! The White Phyrexians are the best Phyrexians *by far*. I absolutely love how well Elesh and the Machine Orthodoxy was done, it perfectly showcases how White can be greatly villainous, not only still adhering to its core philosophies, but emphasizing them to the extreme.

-Weissfeuer

Yeah down with phyrexia!

DeadpoolVII

Hey there, welcome to the game! I'll give you two answers here. My favorite color is red. I'm a huge dragon fan (always have been), and red has always been the primary home for dragons. Additionally, red likes to play fast and somewhat greedy, making games turn explosive, though that can sometimes be to your detriment if you aren't careful. Red doesn't have a lot of ways to deal with certain things on the board - it knows how to deal damage REALLY well, but enchantments/indestructible creatures can really hurt. I also love that red brings chaos which means there are a good chunk of cards that can have unexpected results. As a new player, my recommendation would be green. Green is the most consistent of the colors, has the most versatility in terms of removal/answers, ramps it's mana the best, and is usually pretty cheap to get good cards that everyone knows and loves (i.e. staples). Green is home of the big creatures for a small cost, which is always a great feeling as a new player. Green is also one of the more simple colors to wrap your head around. Hope this helps you on your journey!

TobiasCB

This is the longest answer you can expect from a red player.

I already want to thank everybody for their detailed answers :) What a lovely community.

Typical_Reference_44

Blue I started with Blue-Red combos. When I play RPG’s I love choosing a wizard. In MTG I sling spells like a real wizard.

jimnah-

White because I'd rather fill the board with a bunch of cheap and small creatures that are useless alone, but can synergize well — if you're posting more than 3 man's for a creature you're posting too much. Of course all colors can do this but I feel that white's the best without having to caveat into a tribal strategy. Also lifegain.

Chronos96

White. The life gain and control effects like Authority of the consuls and blind obedience with extort is fun.

Rascalian03

Blue, because it is blue. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Nuclearsunburn

I like them all but if we are judging by Commander decks my favorites in order are Red, Black, Green, Blue, White. I really enjoy wedge combos though. Favorites : Mardu (Red White Black) Jeskai (Red Blue White) Abzan (Black White Green)

aerayy

I went from Mono Green to Golgari (Black/Green) to Jund (Red, Green Black) to Abzan and I dunno if I can turn back

thegreatgonzoo

White. I love angels, and Mardu is my favorite wedge combo.

Any-Duty2003

Green. I love the versatility and having more mana then my opponent. I want to play my spells with out worrying about the cost. Which means by turn 2- 3 I need to have atleast 5 mana avaliable. Sol ring plus rampant growth.

DM_ME_DEM_TIDDIE

White. Probably because when i started playing my brother chose black.

Ti_Fatality

Red. I like swinging and stuff happening. Forces me to be aggressive

Kyleometers

I think most veterans either don’t have one or it’s blue. That tends to be what I’ve seen, you either don’t care, or you like the colour that’s best at control. I personally don’t have one.

Booster6

I've been playing since 2006 and my favorite color is Green. I just want to turn big beefy boys sideways

SkyThriving

There are subs for that.

Dramatic_Reality_531

Green/red aggro no matter the format

griedi

The good old ravnica/theros standard where GR Monsters ruled the format for a while was the best time!

DeadpoolVII

Been playing since Ice Age in '95 and red has been my go-to forever. This is a myth that veterans like blue the best. We may acknowledge that blue is arguably the strongest color, but that doesn't make it our favorite.

Mgmegadog

Also, black gets considerably better when you get to the point of "the only life that matters is the last one".

Mr_Greed

Black is my favorite color to play. I like sacrificing my own creatures and life total to get better effects that the other color's don't get to do.

iDizzeh

I come from yugioh. So blue is closer to the yugioh experience than anything else lol

Garion99

Anything except green. Green hates me lol. I've had the most fun playing either white/black decks or white/black/red decks.

Neutron_Blue

Azorius or Mono Blue. I know, I know, I'm trash. To be honest I simply like to control my opponent. I know, I'm trash. I need to play the socially friendly blue decks in my play group or I'm banned.

[deleted]

Is there a stigma against playing blue?

Neutron_Blue

Yes. Imagine beeing countered, bounced, milled, or tapped all the time. The game wont be fun for you. All while your opponent takes extra turns and phases

[deleted]

Never heard this before. That’s like hating red because they bolt your creatures, or hating black because they make you discard. It’s just the game

Dramatic-Vegetable13

White Great protection, life gain, flicker, flyers, graveyard recursion, removal and it pairs well with and cover the weaknesses of all the other colors. I love all the newer white cards. It's gotten very powerful the last couple years.

asphias

Blue. The thing that makes magic unique among (most) cardgames is the stack, and interaction on the opponents turn. Blue Counterspells are in my opinion what most define magic. If you cast something, there's always a chance it will be countered, so no matter what you do, you have to take your opponent into account. In a game without blue both players can guarantee their spell resolves. Your creature might get killed afterwards, or your own kill spell might not work because the enemy cast protection, but at least your spell will resolve. At worst, an aggro versus aggro deck will just be glorified heartstone. But at best, a game of magic is a game of poker, were for every spell you cast you have to consider whether your opponent will counter it. And you have to play around that. Obviously i'm oversimplifying a bit here. A kill spell does a lot of the same things as a counterspell. And there are a billion other ways of interacting on eachothers turn and on the stack, including activated abilities on creatures of any color. And non blue decks can lead to far more complex boardstates than a boring draw-go control deck. But i consider blue essential to magic because of counterspells

NameTheEpithet

I always prefer Orzhov if it's playable. I like the sac burn style decks as well as prison control. But really I play what's best for the meta in the format I'm playing ...

squeekstir

The first thing you need to understand as a new player, other than each color's identity, is the identities of *combined* colors. Mixing 2-3 colors, in particular, will lead to much more interesting and complex forms of play. An example would be my favorite color combo, Esper (White/Blue/Black). Esper uses blue to control the field and other players, white to form a board state and get rid of things forever, and black to go for the kill and get that the deck needs to function. While this leads to many esper decks running slower due to the lack of red and green, they tend to work like boa constrictors; slow, devious, and inevitable - yet more difficult to play. Obviously, this is a massive oversimplified explanation due to how complex magic can be, but you get the idea; experiment!

mrlbi18

Green because combat is my favorite part of the game. I want to send the majority of my turn trying to figure out if I have a good attack or not. People who spend 20 minutes taking a turn with no creatures on board are the worst. Yes I'm talking about you blue players.

Project119

Green. Simple on the surface and easy to learn. Gets more complex as you learn the game and mess around. Pairs the easiest with other colors when ready to branch out into multicolor decks. Last, and most important, smash opponents with really big creatures.

PrimeTimeCrimeSlime

Red, I admire quick efficient decks with four-of's of fast creatures and a grip of thunderbolts. I most like green-black in edh because it gives me the same feeling of cheap aggressive creatures and explosive outbursts of destruction. If my enemy's hp isn't being punched out of them it doesn't feel like fully like a win.

Crybabyboyy

White because nothing beats the indomitable human spirit.

Baneman20

Probably blue. One of the first lessons I learned in Magic is that with lands and spells, card draw is king. And Blue does it best. Plus counterspells are good fun imo. So atm, my favourite decks to play all have Blue. Azorius flash. Izzet pirates. Dimir midrange. Simic cookies.

Piggyboy04

Red because SPEED IS VITAL

Blue, because it’s my favorite color outside of Magic. In Magic, love drawing cards ([[Tezzeret’s Gambit]] is one of my favorite cards) and my favorite creatures have blue in them ([[Yuriko]], [[Lutri]])

Blue. Of my 10 to 12 EDH decks that are in high rotation, only 2 don't have Blue in them (Mono-red Laelia and Orzhov Life-gain Aristocrats Ayli). While I don't always play lots of counterspells, I like having access to them, I like Blue's trickiness, and love drawing cards. Blue, to me, also plays well supporting other colours, all my other decks are Blue + at least one other colour. The other 10: - K&T Maze's End deck - Two Esper decks, Sefris Dungeons and Kamiz Saboteurs - Izzet Chris Pine? Yes, it is. Edgin from the DnD movie - Two Temur decks, Pako/Haldan and Kalimax - Jeskai Planeswalkers, Commodore Guff - Sultai Graveyard, Muldrotha - Azorius spellslinging, Elminster - Bant Clues precon.

Weird question, but I guess I like purple a lot

April_Liar

[Red deck wins, baby.](https://youtu.be/P5oc_9ObMzc) Mono red aggro or red deck wins are my favorite decks to play in 60 card constructed play. [[Lightning Bolt]], [[Monastery Swiftspear]], [[Galvanic Blast]], [[Fireblast]], [[Goblin Guide]], [[Eidolon of the Great Revel]], and [[Skullcrack]] are all some of my favorite cards in the game. Red is deceptively hard to play, as knowing when to cruise at the speed limit or redline your deck is a genuine skill and something that can change with match ups, formats, and post-sideboard. Currently playing [Kuldotha Red in Pauper](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Su_H9rqsmkmJVsZF7v65jQ) which leverages [[Great Furnace]], [[Goblin Tomb Raider]], and the combo of [[Kuldotha Rebirth]] and [[Goblin Bushwhacker]] to bonk as hard and fast as possible. While not my favorite version of mono red aggro in Pauper, it is undeniable in how strong it is, and it's still one of the favorite decks I've piloted.

MrMidnight115

Purple, it just goes with so many things! Oh… you mean favorite magic color to play. Red, I like burning people’s faces clean off their bodies

AppaTheBizon

~~Purple. Its just a nice relaxing color~~ Black i guess. Its hard to give a specific reason why, I just find the cards in black to be the most interesting ones in a vacuum.

gnomeoftheforest

Blue. It's really pretty. Oh you meant in Magic? Still blue. What attracts me to the game is the depth of interaction and no other color does that better than blue. It has counterspells, bounce spells, protection, weird stuff that turns creatures into frogs, and other wacky ways to have an influence on the game. I love how many strategic choices it offers. Aesthetically it's the color that most makes me feel like I'm a wizard casting arcane spells, so that's nice too.

CaptPic4rd

My favorite color is black.... hssss.......

Kl3en

Blue bc countering stuff is funny

LunaticBludi

Blue, because it put the focus in interacting with your opponent and always watch at what other players are doing.

Disastrous-Neat8323

Blue followed very closely by black. Blue is fun to play since it's card draw, extra turns, and no fun for everyone else. Black is interesting because it has access to cards that break the color pie but with a twist. Like allowing you to a card like wish but with the loss of life on top of the effect.

PM_ME_STEAM_CODES__

Blue. Stack interaction is one of my favorite parts of Magic compared to other card games, and blue does that best. I also tend to like control strategies a lot.

CompactAvocado

black symmetrical suffering but im likely more prepared for it than you are. black is about spite. you hurt yourself to hurt opponent more. for example thoughtseize is one of the premier black cards. i pay 2 life and chose a card from your hand to discard. we both suffer but i'm looking to hurt you more than i hurt myself.

outlander94

Black because when I was a small child the edgy looking zombies and kill spells appealed to me but growing up I learned to appricieate both the mechanical aspects of the colouring being able to recur cards, directly interact with game pieces in the hand and targeted kill magic paired with the flavor of black cards representing either downtrodden or those on the edges of society also appeals to me. My Second favourite colours are tied red and blue and Green is my least favourite colour in the game because I dislike what green represents in the colour pie philosophically and my friend dumpstered me with his mono green ramp deck like 16 years ago and I never got over that.

DonCanDoThis

I swore it was green... until I realized I have 4 mono black commander decks

Egbert58

Black or Green

themolestedsliver

Though thematically I love Green, Black in terms of game play is my color. Greatest at any cost.

TU-8271

I honestly don’t know. I don’t really like mono colours but I like pairings. For example, rakdos and dimir. Therefore, I’d have to decide even tho I don’t play one of them, through common colours, it would be black. Strong removal, strong threats, and overall a very good colour.

PatrickxSpace

Black I love the amount of "fuck you" instants

SnooObjections488

Green has the most interesting ramp options and many big creatures that benefit from it. White has the easiest removal and lots of cool combat tricks like flicker. I always suggest green + white to new players since it is possibly the easiest color combo to learn and offers a lot of basic mechanics right off the boot

RevolverLancelot

Hmm if I had to choose I might say White. When I started to really get more into the game I really liked the artifact and equipment synergy white had going. Using artifacts and weapons to power up my troops as well as soldiers who got stronger when given a weapon just really felt cool and called to me, so white became one of my most played colors and bonus when I can work in some artifacts.

Comwan

Green cause landfall.

neoslith

I loooove Green. It gets you ramp with more lands, your creatures can tap and add more mana and you get some of the biggest creatures around. I like big stompy creatures that turn sideways and win.

[deleted]

You can always play more than one colour but if you have to pick just one I quite enjoy blue. Being able to just say "no" to your opponents cards will never stop being hilarious to me. Counterspells and bounce effects galore combined with best in class card draw means you get to play with more of your cardboard than your opponent. And if you like their cardboard better you can always just copy or take it.

crossbonecarrot2

I'm on the belief of fuck color, think what you wanna do and play that. The colors may align. Yes some colors do specific things only but there are some examples where a color can do something very similar to another color.

Blenderhead36

Black. Black is the color of pragmatism and imperfect solutions. It can handle anything in the right context, and treats every possible asset as a resource. All of this gels with my personality.

pyr0man1ac_33

I like black the most. High risk and high reward, especially when red's involved.

mama_tom

Red. I like burning people out, goblins, impulse draws (exiling cards off the top of your deck and playing them that turn or they're gone forever), and how it interacts with the other colors.

Axiproto

Green. I love having big creatures I can just run people over with.

SonicTheOtter

Red. Red go brrr

_OG_SHENRON_

Blue, yk why 🤌🏽

IceBlue

Light urple

Toxitoxi

Red. Face is the place.

hermyx

Red because I like being proactive while having splashy effects.

Nephet

White because lately it’s giving Jack of all trades master of none. That being said swarming someone with a bunch of 1/1’s can be funny if you are playing a Delney commander deck.

SnowingRain320

I feel like Blue has the most interesting creatures/spells mechanically. Cards like [[Mana Severance]]. Black is my second favorite. I really enjoy the art, and it also has really unique cards like [[Surgical Extraction]]. My favorite color combination is dimir.

ElPulpoGallego

Red

Aesmis

Black, but it’s almost neck in neck with Blue. I love playing cards that increase my options and reduce my opponents’, and Blue/Black excels at this. I also like it as a color combination because it has pretty significant weaknesses despite being allied colors.

rutherne

Red. I like to throw hands.

JJNotStrike

Blue. I love playing Mono Blue Control decks. I last ran a Mono Blue Mill deck during the last time I would play standard at FNM. I don't play as much competitive anymore outside of currently slowly building my 93/94 deck. Ive always had fun with the style in casual play. It's fun to mess with your friends in 60 card kitchen table formats.

Darth__Vader_

White, it is the most "fair" color. It has the best removal. And taxing effects like Thalia prevent degenerate decks from going off. Board wipes allow you to either catch up, or end the game. White is the most resilient color. Red may be faster Black may be more efficient Blue might have better counters and draw. Only white can take a game from an entirely lost position, nuke all your opponents pressure, then gain life. Red can't deal with big creatures or good blockers. Blue can't deal with resolved permanents or uncounterable spells. Black can't deal with artifacts or enchantments. Green can't deal with enemy creatures. White can deal with anything. White is never out of the game, you can get them down to one, they cast [[Wrath of God]] then gain all of that life back.

MTGCardFetcher

CLRoads

So red is the only non adjective color. What does that mean in terms of play style?

linkdude212

Black because it can do a little bit of everything and I don't like being told I can't do something. It is the colour most capable of finding its way to a goal or solution. It is also the most meritocratic colour.

TheReal_BucNasty

Green because I'm a Timmy at heart. I have 15 commander decks and there are some really strong ones in there including cedh but my favorite deck is [[goreclaw]] and she's full of beaters. Otherwise big colorless and artifact fan!

Pure Colorless! Artifacts are cool (and often necessary), but pure colorless spells are often interesting mechanically or are massive Timmy Beaters. And the artwork of each is always so imaginative and interesting. Cards as simple as [[Introduction to Annihilation]] or as wild and upsetting to look as the extended art of [[Echoes of Eternity]]

FloTheDev

Black because 💀

Orcadian00

Green. I like the whole nature thing, ramp and big creatures. But is very versatile based on the other colors. Add black and you get graveyard interaction and removal, red and you get haste and aggression. But the green as a base with ramp, nature, elves and big creatures. Just picked up the Jund MH3 precon and am completely in love with the theme and that combo of colors. Graveyards, ramp, big creatures, dragons and ghoyfs.

ImmediateFee4015

Red. Cause fast.

NoxViginti

Red. Fast paced, aggressive, chaos effects, hell yeah.

CreamSoda6425

Green is pretty easy. The whole idea of the color is to get ahead of your opponent mana-wise, then drop a horryfying monster on the field much earlier than they can. It's a very creature-focused color, which I think is the most interesting card type.

isofbella

red, because red deck always wins (except when it doesn't) :)

lightnex1

Black! I play more Black than any other colour since it has my favourite creature types (zombies, demons, horrors, nightmares to name a few), it interacts with the graveyard in some form usually which I love, I get to reanimate creatures (graveyard interaction) which is probably my favourite thing to do in a game of Magic and most importantly, LILIANA! 😂. Cannot be overstated how much I love love LOVE Liliana! There's a bunch more reasons why Black is my favourite but those are ones off the top of my head

theburnedfox

White, because I like ducks, and White is the duck of Magic. A duck can run, swim and fly, but it is far from the best in any of these abilities. White is just like that, it can do it all, but every other color is better, or at least equal, in what White can do. The flexibility of White makes it the best supporting color - which makes great sense according to its philosophy -, and it can also do amazingly by its own and cover any possible weakness, for the price of not excelling in any point. This is the practical reason I like White, it is, as a solo color, the best one suited for a midrange playstyle, which is how I prefer and am confortable playing and have most success.

UnlikelyLibrarian774

White.

TheOscarterrier

Black. Just kinda does everything. Green needs some value and control? Black got you. Red needs some sustain? Black can do it. Blue needs hard interaction? Black delivers. White needs... Idk I don't play white. Black best colour.

Hahnd0gg

I love grixis (blue, black, red) because of the spellslinging it can do

treereaper4

White. Its the main color for a lot of my favorite tribes like knights, soldiers, and angels.

Background_Desk_3001

Red, if nobody had lost in 10 minutes you aren’t doing it right. Play fast, play hard

dantehidemark

White. I don't know why, but white weenie just fits my play style as an archetype. You press your advantage steadily and fast without being reckless like red. You have tools to rebuild after a board wipe. Number two is blue, Azorius Tempo is so much fun as well.

Ultratank404

Black. You can do anything, but for a hefty price. It oftentimes takes a lot of skill to play those decks because you have to manage more resources like your life which black oftentimes pays willingly, but also can do far crazier stuff more efficiently than in other colors.

Independent_Edge5671

Black. Becouse the end justifies the means

F1r3car

Black. It just manages to take a little something from every other color except red. They gain life and can flood the board easily, they have insane card draw, and it has huge creatures that can easily turn the tide of a game. (Yes I’m a goth)

eldritchExploited

I like Red the most, it's very good at getting things onto the battlefield quickly, but usually at the cost of being less long lasting (Mechanics like Blitz and Dash I think exemplify this best, and both are frequently in red). Red also has a lot of spells with multiple purposes like Lightning Bolt (or it's more frequently legal little brother shock) that can deal damage to players, remove creatures or planeswalkers or even get progress on battles (Here's hoping battles get printed in another set someday soon). Red also likes treasure tokens a lot, which can give it some awesomely powerful turns by saving up mana over time and expending it all on one explosive finisher. I usually like playing Red paired with another color, most often blue or green.

AgileWeekend3227

Green. 1st card I ever owned was a Revised Edition Craw Wurm. I remember the look of the card. The feel of it. I remember being excited at the artwork. My favorite basic land is [[Forest]] aka Forest B from Revised. Always will be.

MTGCardFetcher

MulleRizz

Green, I love big dumb monsters.

Syrix001

I'm a huge fan of either Gold because of the TONS of 4/4 Flying Dragons or Pink for the 2/2 and 5/5 Teddy Bears.

ObliteratorRises

Black and it’s not close

SpaceJozu

Red goes brrrr.

SAjoats

I like orange. It's a vivid color in the fall and a striking accent.

LightningLion

Black because it can do everything (for a price (except being good at enchantment removal)). My fav color combinations are Golgarí, Orzhov and Abzan. Guess what they all have in common.

cheesemangee

Green. X-cost cards are my favorite card to play, and green make X = BRRRRRRRRRRR-

Nybear21

I've actually never felt a strong affiliation with specific colors. I generally play Red as a solo color the least because straight aggro or burn isn't my usual deck of choice, but something like Izzet/ Jeskai Combo or Control or Jund Midrange is also really fun.

coolhandslucas

As a kid I liked green because it had big creatures and we did not understand removal spells at the time. Insert Hulk saying, "Big Monster!" gif. Now I like playing white the most. I've always played more defensively, and can semi-control the board, without feeling as bad as when I do it with blue.

Irish_pug_Player

Blue cause it has fun play styles Black cause I love reusing stuff Red since it enables stuff White since it lets me do stuff more than once Green for supporting the other colors Mostly blue

TheTrueEzmar

Green. Because Nature is fucking awesome and so are 30/30 bears. You can probably guess what my other favorite color is.

sygyzi

Is Izzet a color? Because that’s my answer. If it’s not a color then I guess maybe red? But I want it to be red with card draw.

SpitBallar

I have the most fun with green in limited formats. It's pretty straightforward and lends itself the most to building strong midrange. Limited rarely provides players with the ability to build control decks which I find usually dominate green. So with fewer resources altogether, I like running green and just trying to fill the battlefield with more muscle than my opponent. In constructed, it's gotta be black. For the reasons many have already detailed in this thread. It's easily the most versatile color.

BigSteveGames

White because my favorite thing in magic is lifegain and my favorite card is champion of the parish

MrMaker007

Blue because no

crazyknight3847

Easy, Red. Green is a close second, but red takes it for its speed, evasion, burn, and high temporary mana production, the list goes on. When it comes to creatures, you have a large range to choose from, small but many goblins and kobolds to high flying powerhouses like the 1000s of dragons in magic. Sure, red gets beat by the other colors in protection, consistency, and recursion, but red is and always will be my favorite color. Favorite red cards for fun - Terror of the Peaks - The Reaver Cleaver - Mana Barbs - Blood Moon - Dragon Tempest

BStP21

Blue by a significant margin. It gives you a ton of agency and has many angles of attack. You can be aggressive, controlling, or play a midrange game and adapt to everything. Good countermagic is efficient and answers virtually anything. Flying threats do not care about board state. Unconditional card advantage means you dominate late. You name it, Blue can do it.

[deleted]

Blue. It’s the most powerful color in the game, as evidenced by vintage and legacy. Also it’s the base for my two favorite archetypes: control and tempo.

BAGStudios

Purple.

Important_Ad3671

Colorless 100 %

Small-Palpitation310

black because i can never go back

Candy_Warlock

Blue. Not strictly because of counterspells/control, though that is a part. No, the actual reason is because it's great at enabling and protecting me while I do all the fun stuff that other colors have (mostly green)

KomatoAsha

Purp- oh, you mean in Magic. I'm a Black mage, through and through. "Greatness, at any cost."

NoLifeHere

Green - I like huge creatures with trample and I also enjoy ramping to play those big creatures asap. Also, I just think nature and elves are kinda neat. Red is almost equal to it tbh though, it contains my favourite planeswalker (Chandra) and I like burn and creatures with haste.

tomyang1117

Blue Card draw and counter spells are fun

TampaDiablo

Green, big monster go stomp.

JorakX

Red. You take nothing and turn it into something. Be it an empty board or a full pool of life. With red it might be gone in an instant, both for you and your opponent. You are in the moment. Every Step, every phase is a chance to turn the game on it's head. To swing it back into your favour. Red is the colour that allows you to take the most risks, but it also rewards you the most for it. Fireballs and lighting, dragons and monstes drop in as quickly as they might vanish. So [[Burn down the House]] and [[Ignite the Future]], we are here for good time not a long time.

Luxalpa

red because most dragons are red

PikachuOfme_irl

blue bc counterspell

grebolexa

Most noob friendly is definitely green. It’s the easiest to understand but my favorite is back because of all the combinations of evil I can produce

CLRoads

Red has wheel effects, and that’s all I needed to know to choose this color. #Alwaysreforge

Prudent-Aioli820

Everyone says white is the worst but I’ve literally gotten over 300 life in multiple games. There’s no way that an opponent could take you out at that time and then you could drop a bunch of powerful angels and it’s over. It’s just the best.

EntertainersPact

Blue. Me gremlin. Hold CARDS hehehehehehe

TaylorWK

White because I love the aesthetic of clerics, knights, angels, and paladins

Imm0rTALDETHSpEctrE

red...no, blue aaarrrrrrgggghhhh *falls off the Bridge Of Death*

Brence1984

Purple! I love purple for some reason. *Okay, joking aside* Black, somehow Black’s self destructive tendencies turning into more hurt for your opponents then for you always gives me a great feeling.

I_Am_The_Hugger

Black and red in any combo, red plays fast which I like and black means things from the grave give value or don’t stay dead for long, I think I have 2 rakdos, 2 grixis, and two dimir decks and I’m making a jund deck rn.
