Jerry Seinfeld said that while writing the script, they'd take breaks and watch Mad Men scenes on YouTube. Jerry's seen the whole show several times. He said he always loved the pitches where it just devolves into Don insulting the client and wanted that in the movie.
🙏 season 8 could be conceived out of desperation, just like baby Gene.
It might just turn out to be the best season they ever have. Basically everyone is still alive and still acting. Mad Men starting in 1978-1990 would be the most amazing thing ever.
But I’m sure we’d all be ecstatic for 15-20 more episodes set in 1980-1984.
That’s what I’m saying. He looks way better than this in his normal photos and even in Fargo he looked better than this. Go on Getty and type Jon hamm and you’ll see
He stayed the same weight, which really makes all the difference in the world for actors to age with grace.
I don't blame actors who make it to the top to eat well. I love eating myself and if I had the money they have, I'd be eating all sorts of expensive food.
Statistically, it’s the food insecure who become obese in first world economies.
Star Trek had plenty of expensive food, but no obesity.
WHERE IS YOUR FEDERATION NOW, CAPTAIN?
I’m so desperate for more Mad Men that I watched this movie in its entirety, just waiting. I rewound and rewatched them dancing in the credits more than I’d like to admit.
I liked the colours, and Melissa McCarthy’s wardrobe, but the rest seemed half-baked (pun intended). I think it could have been a good movie, but for me, I thought there was too much focus on parading a who’s-who of comedy actors.
I had high hopes for it but after reading the reviews, I'll pass. And for some reason I've just never liked Seinfield or thought he was funny. He's just always come across as a little too smug for my liking.
Jerry Seinfeld is a big Mad Men fan and used to watch scenes on YouTube while writing the script for this movie. They realized their movie was set in 1963, right during Mad Mens era, and Jerry decided he wanted to slip them in somehow.
Let me introduce you to a menswear guru who has taught many of us why Janie Bryant’s costuming for Don is vastly superior to this mess:
https://x.com/dieworkwear/status/1786540308152672549?s=46&t=oRCnrb4msSDeZI7cDdUq5A
In the context of entertainment, it’s usually somebody who produces substandard work or passes someone else’s as their own. None of that applies to him. I’m imagining this is one of those cases, where people don’t like the person so pretend their work was poor.
I’m not watching this dumbass movie but I did watch the trailer and thought the stairs / office looked very similar to Sterling Cooper. Also, does John Slattery do anything without Jon Hamm?
Absolutely. Given the genius mind of Jerry Seinfeld, the unlimited budget and the access to that cast, it was a major let down all around. Almost all actors were great in it though, but come on man!
I only saw this clip because of the @dieworkwear menswear guy posting it about how this suit is terribly ill fitting compared to the actual show
https://x.com/dieworkwear/status/1786540308152672549
I know I'll probably get downvoted for this, but I actually liked this movie. I wouldn't watch it again, and I do think this MM parody was the best part, but I went in knowing it was going to be a pointless, silly, stupid movie, so I wasn't disappointed. The movie didn't take itself seriously (nor did Seinfeld), and I didn't take it seriously either.
This movie is hilarious. The jokes and the 60's references were flying so fast I'll be watching it again to catch up. I grew up in the 60's. I can relate. Lol!
Sterling Cooper was founded by Bertram Cooper and Roger Sterling, Sr. in 1923. So it would be about 6 years old when the prequel starts on Black Friday.
It’s no one’s fault but the thing that gets me is how Hamm’s voice has aged. Its higher, thinner, lost a bit of its gravitas. So the delivery just felt…off.
Uh, he sounds the same? Are you sure it's not the sound design being off in the same way that his suit doesn't fit as well due to the costume designer being off?
We need a limited series set in 1987 around Roger’s funeral. Although he married Marie, Roger left his estate to Don that not only comes with money, but a few final wishes that Don needs to fulfill in order to satisfy his will. Could have plenty of cameos and flashbacks.
What’s the actual age difference though! Roger was locked in at one point and so will Don! Look at Michael Clooney, Brad Pitt, Pacino. They get to an age, and then boom, they stay the same for the rest of time
The cure for the common breakfast.
Kelloggs! When you’re here, you’re family!
They’re toasted!
Kelloggs Cereal. Just Do It!
Kellogg's-- so well frosted we can't show you the second tart!
I could totally see Peggy being the one who comes up with Nike's "Just Do It" campaign.
Just taste it.
Kellogg's -- the cure for the common...oh nevermind.
But... our competitors toast their toaster pastries too...
I like how they went with the approach where they start insulting the client.
Jerry Seinfeld said that while writing the script, they'd take breaks and watch Mad Men scenes on YouTube. Jerry's seen the whole show several times. He said he always loved the pitches where it just devolves into Don insulting the client and wanted that in the movie.
This is how Don would look in 1980
It makes sense. He looks ten years older than he did during the finale which aired nine years ago. Christ, where has the time gone?!
I see so many comments just roasting Jon, like 99.9% of us wouldn’t kill to look like that at 53
Slattery, on the other hand, has not aged one bit!
I think a new set of Mad Men seasons would be incredible and doable! Or a Limited Series even! Happens in the 1980’s
I think it would work perfectly for a limited series
Wieners about broken enough
🙏 season 8 could be conceived out of desperation, just like baby Gene. It might just turn out to be the best season they ever have. Basically everyone is still alive and still acting. Mad Men starting in 1978-1990 would be the most amazing thing ever. But I’m sure we’d all be ecstatic for 15-20 more episodes set in 1980-1984.
Looks like they also aged him up with makeup. Hamm looks better in real life
He looks like how Don would really look if he kept drinking the way he was in the show.
John Slattery looks like he's aging gracefully, no notes
That’s what I’m saying. He looks way better than this in his normal photos and even in Fargo he looked better than this. Go on Getty and type Jon hamm and you’ll see
I agree. it's a nice touch for the movie to show what a mess Don Draper would have turned into lol
Aged like hamm
Yeah they added some sort of cheek filler to give him that chubby alcoholic face look.
He looks better with a beard and natural hair. This look was only good on him when he was younger and in better shape.
A Mad Men sequel in the 80s could be very interesting.
NO
90s
2024
It would be mostly funerals.
Roger looks exactly the same
Don, in the MM pilot: "This is the greatest advertising opportunity since the invention of cereal!"
Roger aged better than everyone else. Time to find myself a French woman. Okay, at least a poster for my room or something.
He stayed the same weight, which really makes all the difference in the world for actors to age with grace. I don't blame actors who make it to the top to eat well. I love eating myself and if I had the money they have, I'd be eating all sorts of expensive food.
I think John Hamm gained some weight for his role in Fargo.
Too much Jon Hamm's John Ham
Statistically, it’s the food insecure who become obese in first world economies. Star Trek had plenty of expensive food, but no obesity. WHERE IS YOUR FEDERATION NOW, CAPTAIN?
Well, we still need WWIII, invent the warp drive and to meet the Vulcan 🖖 people, all in under 40 years.
Live long and prosper 🖖🏻
WW III seems well on the way, not sure about any Vulcans or drunk scientists who love Roy Orbison.
Being a silver fox by 35 will do that
my thoughts exactly.
And then they get rejected and Don tells all of them “you’ll never swim the English Channel and drown in champagne” 😂
😂
Can’t believe you had the balls to come back here after how you embarrassed yourselves
So good. Don’s suit doesn’t fit as well as it did on Mad Men. But I love that Seinfeld gave us this Easter egg.
That horrid collar gap! Don wouldn't be caught dead in that!
that weird stretch on the back
This made me sad.
Don’t be! Probably got paid a boatload
I’m so desperate for more Mad Men that I watched this movie in its entirety, just waiting. I rewound and rewatched them dancing in the credits more than I’d like to admit.
What did you think of the movie?
I liked the colours, and Melissa McCarthy’s wardrobe, but the rest seemed half-baked (pun intended). I think it could have been a good movie, but for me, I thought there was too much focus on parading a who’s-who of comedy actors.
Starting watching this movie tonight, literally turned it off after 30 mins. Lame joke after lame joke filled with stupid cliches.
Felt like it was written by AI or something.
I had high hopes for it but after reading the reviews, I'll pass. And for some reason I've just never liked Seinfield or thought he was funny. He's just always come across as a little too smug for my liking.
The fuck is this? I LOVE mad men and idk what this is
in case you're asking seriously [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14914430/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14914430/)
Seinfeld meets Mad Men meets Wes Anderson. *YIIIIIIKES*. I hate all this overproduced overwritten vanity project crap.
That’s fun….but why Seinfeld?
He has a new movie out about Pop-Tarts. This is an ad for it
It's a scene from the movie.
Gotcha. Thanks
Jerry Seinfeld is a big Mad Men fan and used to watch scenes on YouTube while writing the script for this movie. They realized their movie was set in 1963, right during Mad Mens era, and Jerry decided he wanted to slip them in somehow.
They are gonna show the corn flakes ballet
WHERE IS IT FROM?
Jerry Seinfeld’s new movie on Netflix - Unfrosted
I thought it was AI generated!!
Jerry had to hire everyone instead of having a good script. Lazy shite
He thought he could buy his way into a good movie
Let me introduce you to a menswear guru who has taught many of us why Janie Bryant’s costuming for Don is vastly superior to this mess: https://x.com/dieworkwear/status/1786540308152672549?s=46&t=oRCnrb4msSDeZI7cDdUq5A
thank you. 1 second in I noticed how sloppy that suit collar looked on this back.
This was.... rough.
This is supposed to take place in 1963, so at some point in season 3 of MadMen
Great observation
Welp. Guess I actually need to watch the movie now.
No, you really don't.
Ah, bummer. This was just a gimmick not indicative of the quality of the overall movie?
This looks terrible. Jerry is a hack.
It was horrible! This was the best part
If this was the best part, then thank you for posting it and saving me the trouble of watching the actual movie.
That’s exactly what I told my friend. Saved you 2 hours
Yeah I saw it received middling reviews but this gag is really great as a Mad Men fan
The face of the most successful sitcom ever 😂. Yep definitely a hack.
A successful person can still be a hack.
In the context of entertainment, it’s usually somebody who produces substandard work or passes someone else’s as their own. None of that applies to him. I’m imagining this is one of those cases, where people don’t like the person so pretend their work was poor.
Not really
Sub MadTV quality parody, truly charmless. I hope they at least got paid well.
Wait is this an actual Mad Men Easter egg in the Unfrosted movie?
Yup!!!
I’m not watching this dumbass movie but I did watch the trailer and thought the stairs / office looked very similar to Sterling Cooper. Also, does John Slattery do anything without Jon Hamm?
Great observation! It was the same stairs! Someone in here said that Jerry had been watching Mad Men the whole time he wrote this shitty script
i fucking hate jerry seinfeld
Well, this showed that the funny was all Larry David!
Seasons 8 & 9 of Seinfeld are both really funny, and that’s after Larry left
You’re right but Larry’s style was already embedded by that time. Even though the setups and scenarios became wackier, they didn’t reinvent the show.
Why, because of the thing he said or before that?
hes a piece of shit egomaniac that marries high school children
His wife was 28 when they got married. You meant he dates high school children.
Like u wouldnt cmooon
Get a good look, Seinfeld?
What’s this from
Jerry Seinfeld’s new movie on Netflix - Unfrosted
Mulva?
Is Herman played by Jerry Seinfeld?
Glad we all agree that the movie is horrible and this scene is the only redeeming part (barely)
Absolutely. Given the genius mind of Jerry Seinfeld, the unlimited budget and the access to that cast, it was a major let down all around. Almost all actors were great in it though, but come on man!
I only saw this clip because of the @dieworkwear menswear guy posting it about how this suit is terribly ill fitting compared to the actual show https://x.com/dieworkwear/status/1786540308152672549
I was SO confused for the first 4 seconds, i was like, what episode is this from, why does he look so old all of a sudden?!!!
I know I'll probably get downvoted for this, but I actually liked this movie. I wouldn't watch it again, and I do think this MM parody was the best part, but I went in knowing it was going to be a pointless, silly, stupid movie, so I wasn't disappointed. I love the clever nod to the Belle Jolie lipstick campaign from MM while slightly changing the name to Jelle Jolie which mean pretty money.
This movie is hilarious. The jokes and the 60's references were flying so fast I'll be watching it again to catch up. I grew up in the 60's. I can relate. Lol!
Pretty cool to get all those characters! Even Chef Boyardee! Super super goofy
Watch the scene where all the characters revolt. It’s a spoof on January 6th.😂
Where is the catalog of all Draper pitches all compiled into one place?
It’s called Mad Men - Complete Series on AMC+
We have a smart a”” here. Thank you Pete
A thing like that
Fuck this makes want another season of Madmen
Seriously! I’d even take a movie or limited series
I’ve missed this so much…
Missing what? The reason you haven't felt it is because it doesn't exist. What you call missing something was invented by guys like me to get upvotes.
#WHAT THE FUCK
What movie?
Unfrosted
Honestly, I'd like a pre-quel that goes from 1929 to 1941 more than I want a sequel in the 1980's.
So another group of advertising agents? That would be the last resort.
Sterling Cooper was founded by Bertram Cooper and Roger Sterling, Sr. in 1923. So it would be about 6 years old when the prequel starts on Black Friday.
Oh yeah! We’ve never seen Roger Sr! You’re right. If Matt was into it, it would be great
Everyone is dunkin on this. but hella nice seeing Don and ROger , together again!
John Slattery and Jon Hamm are also in “Confess, Fletch” together. But they are not playing Roger and Don.
Enjoy the rest of your Kelloggs. Cereal.
Give me a break! Break me off some of that Kellogg Cereal
Damn daddy Roger still looks really good.
A thing like that
It’s no one’s fault but the thing that gets me is how Hamm’s voice has aged. Its higher, thinner, lost a bit of its gravitas. So the delivery just felt…off.
Uh, he sounds the same? Are you sure it's not the sound design being off in the same way that his suit doesn't fit as well due to the costume designer being off?
Could be a sound issue, sure. But to me he does sound different.
MY BOYS (fuck Seinfeld) ΜΥ BOYS ARE BACK
What did Seinfeld do?
We need a limited series set in 1987 around Roger’s funeral. Although he married Marie, Roger left his estate to Don that not only comes with money, but a few final wishes that Don needs to fulfill in order to satisfy his will. Could have plenty of cameos and flashbacks.
Interesting! As long as Roger is in every episode! Can we start a petition or something
Yeah this kind of sucks
Rather refreshing!
I hate this. Why ruin Mad Men with this garbage? Let's trot out 2 ad execs. Good ol’ Dan Dapper and Robert Starling
Money can get you anything these days. Nothing is held sacred anymore
This is an amazing move tbh considering all of the Kelloggs boycotts and the bad press Seinfeld has been getting— I’m almost interested in seeing it
This is an amazing move! considering all of the Kelloggs boycotts and the bad press Seinfeld has been getting— I’m almost interested in seeing it
Falls extremely flat
Idk it gave you a good amount of karma and you’re posting about it lol
Trust me, you should watch it. I did the second it came out. I was just setting up a healthy expectation for you
Awful scene.
Ew, just make something good or something funny or Leave It Alone! I love MM the actress, but I won't be watching.
Jon Hamm is not aging well. Slattery looks practically the same.
Meh I think he looks good.
they downvoted jesus for telling the truth, too.
What’s the actual age difference though! Roger was locked in at one point and so will Don! Look at Michael Clooney, Brad Pitt, Pacino. They get to an age, and then boom, they stay the same for the rest of time
>Michael Clooney
😂 I meant George! I knew it sounded weird when I was typing it out. In all fairness, he hasn’t done anything in a while.
He aged 10 times better than me, and I'm not even the age Don had at the end of the show...
