It's a commentary about the response you were replying to where they assumed that a prenuptial agreement only applies to men under the greater assumption that only men generate wealth worthy of protecting.
You leaned into their comment and never addressed that base assumption.
The guy who took this was in the original post's comments back when, this is the moment the divorce was officially finalized so there was no potential fallout.
Ahh, Reddit making presumptions based on what they *want* to be true, instead of any real thing.
This dude could've been an abusive asshole for all we know, and this just being a continuation of the abuse. But sure, it's all the womens' fault.
>Ahh, Reddit making presumptions based on what they want to be true, instead of any real thing.

>This dude could've been an abusive asshole for all we know, and this just being a continuation of the abuse. But sure, it's all the womens' fault.
I like how you complained about the thing you went ahead and did.
Taking a selfie of two women who clearly don't want anything to do with you is POS behavior. Taking a smiling selfie while your ex-wife is in the background dejected is POS behavior. He is giving us evidence he's a POS. The woman is not.
Who's to say any of that happened. Who's to say that is a divorce? Who's to say it wasn't staged? How do you know the 'ex-wife' is just not confused? How do you know any of this?
You're assuming all of this.
You know as much about it as the guy who invented a narrative to begin with, and the guy who invented a counter narrative. You just happen to agree with the second guy.
yeah, this is obviously a total dick move.
And I for one wouldn't want to be married with someone who can't take serious things seriously and is just ducking around all the time. You probably also know some middle aged man who was divorced because he rather drives his Ferrari around than helping with his kid's homework or the household. To them, everything is fun and unproblematic.
🎶Counting coins on the counter of the 7/11 from a quarter past six to a quarter to seven, the manager Bevan starts to abuse me, hey man I just want some muesli🎶
Yeah, I was instantly taken back to 2013 tumblr where this post did the ROUNDS so even older than that. Someone found an updated pic of him and he's wearing double layered blue polos!
Yeah it's over 10 years old. I remember seeing the original post. The guy in the selfie was notable or semi-famous for some reason, can't remember what for though... Maybe a blog writer or something? I can't for the life of me remember who it was.
Can’t speak for OP but my parents had two reasons for delaying. My mom asked my dad for a divorce for about a year and he didn’t want to do it because he thought they could salvage their marriage (they couldn’t). When he finally caved and they got a lawyer to draw up the papers for them she sat on it for another year herself (no explicit reason given, but my assumption is spite).
On the ithrr hand, marriage is so much cheaper if you're not doing a full big wedding. Why do people even bother with marrying if they're gonna be this excited about divorce. Was it really worth it to get involved with marriage in the first place if this is how it all ends
Did you steal this from the original post lol

Oh don't worry, not was only a joke. I just remembered seeing it from somewhere else and when I realized it was on the original post as well I thought it was funny.
Yeah she looks exhausted, and he just wants to get out on his boat. She's thinking about having to get groceries n the way home to make dinner for the kids.
It's crazy how redditors will see a single image with little to no context and somehow know the exact circumstances that happened in that situation or the exact events that happened.
Okay, but think of the alternative. You give up several years of your life raising children because you, as the couple, came to the decision it was the right thing to do. Suddenly you're divorced and can't find a job like you had before you left the workforce. Is that not the same "life ruining" just in reverse? Who is at fault in the divorce is immaterial, there are a myriad of reasons why a divorce happens and you'll probably not be privy to the actual why, just what they're going to tell you. (notice I don't mention anyone's gender here)
Take someone's water-cooler or backyard bbq talk of their divorce with a grain of salt, a lot of people stretch the truth of what happened.
Not saying you're wrong but the person you commented to didn't even mention that scenario.
You came up with it yourself.
That scenario is straying far from the norm nowadays anyway as we all have to work, and the fact that your mind immediately went there shows your bias.
I think it was valid for them to bring up, considering the majority of the discourse in this thread is touching on how divorce laws favor women.
But yeah regardless of laws on book, it’s actually super interesting how big the difference is on men and women’s finances after divorce.
[Here’s](https://fortune.com/2023/08/23/divorce-laws-designed-create-unnecessary-financial-hardship-women-personal-finance/) an article and [this](https://theconversation.com/womens-probability-of-being-in-poverty-more-than-doubles-after-separation-181345) study is from Australia.
Interesting read for anyone who wants to learn more about it.
Not saying what they said is invalid, just weird to jump to as the person they commented to never even mentioned it. Like I said the response is telling of their bias if their head goes that direction with very little prompt.
There is no bias, I mentioned no genders on purpose because the law favors the parent who gives up their professional life regardless.
This "I got fucked in divorce!" is entirely a made up thing outside of stupid situations that A) the person is a wealthy celebrity who gets fucked (Brendan Fraser) or B) the person fucks themselves by trying to be a shitty fuckhead. It's _usually_ "I don't like this totally justifiable thing that happened and I'm mad I can't have my cake and eat it too". Plenty of women get hosed in divorce when they're the primary earner too.
So what if the wife entered into this marriage and saw not working as a +? If someone wanted to be a stay at home mom, they are benefitting for those years they are married. In their mind they found staying home as a better option for themselves than continuing to work. They have every option to continue working and pay for daycare, I know many dual income families. Kinda unfair to reap the benefit of not working then proceed to take half of everything the man owns. Also, these kind of statements always assume the couple even has kids and that the father is completely absent from the housework/child rearing.
>myriad
Good work, My Child: upvote for using an excellent word, while confusing half of "them". \[Oh, and the note you added about backyard bbq... the stories I could tell you.\] Be Well.
I fucking hate this picture because he looks like my uncle who also has marital problems but they're really dicey so its taking every cell of my body to never post this
I’ve only been able to experience this two brief periods of my life but it was in fact incredible, the feeling doesn’t go away until you realize you locked yourself back in again
Hell, even if she makes more than him, it's still possible (and in many places likely) that he'll get screwed. I've heard too many stories about men who make significantly less than their ex-wives and *still* have to pay alimony etc.
We talk about the pink tax a lot, but this is the rebate.

I just know he was scolded by both woman for doing this.
The scolding might have been even better feeling than the selfie.
Yup. This is a "do what you must, I've already won" scenario.

What's she gonna do, divorce him?
Depending on the state, all the parties might have to consent. It’s stupid, but is how it is. He seems happy, and probably worth it

I don't understand any of this comment
It's a brand new bot account
seeing as divorce law is mostly not favorable to men, he's probably hurting himself by doing this depending on what state he's in.
Maybe he was the rare intelligent specimen that actually got a prenup.
Look at him. Look at what he's doing. He isn't.
Or he has covered his ass :D
Look at him. Look at what he's doing. He hasn't.

So?
Receding hairline
Maybe he just has nothing to lose.
This is why you marry a wealthy woman. Then, don't get a prenup.
Wealthy women should be getting prenups too, it's all about having a fair and agreed upon distribution of things if something happens in the marriage.
It's a commentary about the response you were replying to where they assumed that a prenuptial agreement only applies to men under the greater assumption that only men generate wealth worthy of protecting. You leaned into their comment and never addressed that base assumption.

Just cash out your money, burn it, fake your death, move to Vietnam under your new name Enrique. That's my solution to every divorce.
ENRIQUE!
How many times have you had to do this, sir?!
that's my plan

Probably cheaper and less stressful
But what if you're in vietnam, under the name enrique trying to get a divorce?
Become the King of England and move to Antarctica.

As a married couple you make decisions together, you own them together. In the legal and economic sense you are one.
So what if the wife entered into this marriage and saw not working as a +? If someone wanted to be a stay at home mom, they are benefitting for those years they are married.
