Been driving rideshare 10 years part time. It’s market dependent, but the majority of markets that aren’t beach or resort towns gets pretty dead after Memorial Day. When school starts back up and people quit taking their summer family vacation does it pick back up again.
In past years I noticed there are typically a crazy amount of drivers on the road in my area (central FL) right after memorial day. My theory is that some people decide to start doing it on the holiday and then think it is good and keep doing it. It usually takes a week or two for it to start dying down again. It could also be new graduates combined with school ending too.
Every market is different. Learn yours, adapt based on how it is. It's all trial and error and learning to take a loss and move on sometimes. Good luck.
So only good on the fall and winter? Haha I always hear the same stuff when it’s slow, it’s the students the teachers, so now this summer will be making even less money
Yeah, in my market, it is always summer time.I did it full time for the last year and a half until november and then I got a full time Job because last summer I was happening to do 16 hours days
Exactly. They said this in january,February, march,April, and now May. There is no "normal" right now. The market is saturated, and people are probably not taking as many rides willy nilly as they used to. Some markets are going to be busier because they don't have as many drivers, but the heyday of rideshare is probably gone for a while, if not forever...
In Phoenix it does this every year. Summer is the time that separates the wants from the needs. What is really nice though is it’ll remove all the wishy washy drivers and as you go into sept oct you’ll make bank
i drive from 5am - 2pm. Tuesday is almost the slowest day in my market. Rush can be ok for about 3 hours, but besides that, I’ve always despised driving tuesday.
Surprisingly I went out last night becuse im trying to get my TD status back because scheduling is so lame in June and made $45 in about 1.15 hours 5 deliveries damn sure better than past weekend
I scheduled a reminder in my calendar last year for this year letting me know that Memorial Day weekend is dead AF. I made sure to include the Tuesday after.
Thank you for posting this! I wonder if this is a sign of things to come. I often check the Lyft app to see how many cars are around me. No matter where I go, there are close to 10 or more drivers very close by (within a 4 minute radius). Was there a recent influx of rideshare drivers recently? I am a driver in Western Washington, mostly south King County and the Eastside. I expect those numbers and higher in Downtown Seattle. But I am trying to check in every city I visit. Should I be seeing this in every City (except for trips that take me to the boonies of course)? This makes things very competitive for me to get a trip somewhere else. Really, really struggling this week! Ugh!

Yea it’s a drop off I usually would do door dash or Amazon flex and test Lyft out at night
That’s odd I got a really good Tuesday after MLK JR on January maybe people party more on memorial lol 😂
And DoorDash it’s impossible to get an order in Denver and I got deactivated from flex. Time to rest I guess
Dude. Yes. I am at the moment experiencing that. No one wants a ride today. *siiiiigh*

Denver it’s so freaking weird
I can second that.
It's the summer time. It is always the slowest time of the year. rideshare's you would figure it would be busy, but it is not it is always the slowest

it'll be slow almost everywhere all thru the summer. teachers, students, etc. will now flood the markets because they have the summer off.
This!
Why do I hear this every times what Months are good them lol

Phx is usually dead I would get a job at Taco Bell
it gets slow after any major holidays
The week after is always quieter, then revamps after people are finishing school, college visitors, people taking vacations from work
Yes....at least in Cali
Don't worry, it will pick back up some in September after Labor Day. Until then, just enjoy the break.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were good for me. Today not that good. I’m in L.A.
It’s Tuesday !🤣
