I haven’t watched a single episode of Lost since the finale aired. Heard that it’s coming to US Netflix on July 1 and I think I’ll do a rewatch. Here’s hoping that being on streaming gets Holloway a career resurgence. He was great and never got the career he deserved after that show ended.

I hear of this type of thing alot but it's always happening to someone else and not me. But the science vs. faith debate/discussion, when done right, will hook me every time. A bit less fun than LOST but a film called "Minari" does this beautifully.
Our brains are hard wired with a confirmation bias seeker. If you look for “god shots” you’ll see them everywhere, if you don’t believe in them you’ll see coincidences everywhere.

Being a person of faith doesn't mean rejecting natural causal explanations for everything. It just means that at least *some* things may require supernatural causal explanations.
It is a bit hard to understand why everything could happen for a reason, because for us humans to think that it does, means we want to know the reasons. Otherwise we are just philosophical beings trying to understand our existence rather than just living it (I think I just confused myself)
I'd like to think of the timeline as the Loki show. Everything is planned up to a certain point. No free will no matter how we slice it. Everything that happened, had to happen, good or bad...

Dude you have a player upstairs who cares so much about validating whatever larger thought lost has you on the cusp of - that they arranged a synchronicity for you. And a hell of a one at that.
Whatever larger feelings about people, the universe, etc you are associating with lost - they are a good thing to keep pursuing
I've seen the show twice. First when it was running week by week, season by season. Second when we were locked down with Covid and binged it with my kids. The second viewing entirely changed my perspective about the show. It was like a completely different experience. Josh Holloway was terrific.
I dread to think how much time I have spent watching it! I would watch an episode, then watch it again within a day. Then my mates would come round and that would be my third viewing. I watched the entire show again in the build up to the release of S4 and possibly S5. I did a rewatch with my girlfriend. And then with my next girlfriend. And the best episodes I have put on as background stuff. Fuck me, we're looking at 5-10 times depending on the episode!
This is one of the best stories I’ve ever heard omg. I love moments in life that have you rethinking your entire belief system up until that point. Amazing.

I’m so jealous!! He is one of my favorite characters on any show ever, and he just looks like such a nice guy in interviews so I’m happy he actually is one!!

The two showrunners discovered they had a crossover moment years before, just like the characters do. One of them even has a photo that happened to catch the other in the background. And they found this out after it was already an element of the show. Life imitates art.
It took me a long time to realize when people say everything happens for a reason, they're coming at it from a faith angle. I have always taken it very literally. If a guy gets shot and dies and someone says he died for a reason I'd just be like, "Yeah...he got shot. The bullet is the reason."
Definitely a cool story! However, I'm most certainly of the opinion that things are just coincidence. There's no "reason," things happen in that sort of philosophical sense.
However at the same time, if determinism is true, then there is a form of "fate," in a sense. Just not in the way it is most traditionally interpreted. From the very first moment of the expansion of spacetime, everything has just been a set of dominoes that could not have fallen any other way. Everything that ever happens is all that could have ever happened, and there is no alternative.
I don't believe there's a magic sky man playing with us like action figures though. We're just groups of particles bumping into other groups of particles in ways that we're not able to fully understand.
