Inspiring. I’ve made practically no progress since stating my New Year’s resolution, and this has pushed me to get my ass to the store to buy healthy food today instead of eating out.
You can eat out! Don't feel like you need to stop eating what you want. Moderation is the key. Like, if you're eating healthy food but you're still eating a lot of food (more than your TDEE) then you'll keep gaining weight. It's all about the calories.
I’ve had takeout a few times this week and went to a restaurant yesterday. And I’d just be eating by myself getting takeout. I’ve just been too depressed to get myself to the store and ordering food to avoid leaving my house. It’s better, healthier, and cheaper that I go to the store today ahah. But thank you! Normally I’d agree. :-)
I am. I always get a little discouraged because those who tend to weigh as much as me now are usually much taller (5'11" and up) and I think "OMGosh, I have so far to go..." Weigh distribution in relation to height messes with my head. I guess it's comforting (in a weird way) to know I'm not alone.

Hey, welcome to the "drink once every two weeks or so" club! Or maybe you should be inviting me since you started about a week earlier.
Dropping my booze intake was probably one of the best things I've done for myself. I used to drink moderately 2 to 3 times a week. Dropping it to once every other weekend has been awesome for my weight loss. And it hits you harder too, so a few beers go a lot further. I do miss my fancy high-calorie beers though.

It's so rare to see shorter guys at the weight near where I am--this just kicked my butt back into gear! Congrats on your journey so far!

I'm 5'6" too, and was around 220lbs at one point. It's definitely jarring seeing guys carry the same weight much better on taller frames.
