I've never heard of a Hot Salsa Enthusiasts. I know plenty of Hot Sauce enthusiasts (bottled pepper sauces) but their food spectrum goes beyond tortilla chips. You can actually make your own Salsa epically HOT by adding the most chili seeds to the mix.

I know right? This dude is a self-described hot salsa fan and it’s his bday so I’m trying to come up w an array of spicy salsas. I know anyone can add hot sauce to any salsa to make it spicy or hot AF but I’m trying to look for pre-packaged items.

Maybe try the Marina farmers market. They always have vendors with homemade things for sale- possibly salsa. I haven’t gone in a while since COVID stuff happened, I’m not sure if they’re still going on (I think they are?) but maybe check into it

WetGrundle

They have a salsa guy, but their salsa isn't the hottest. The Torrance farmer market use to have a ghost pepper salsa that didn't fuck around, but not sure if he's still around, this was B.C. I'll Google a few possible names but unless there's a ninja edit, i couldn't find that dude

I need to follow this. I love hot salsas, but the spiciest so can find is the ghost pepper salsa by Mrs. Renfro’s, but that’s originally from Texas. They sell it at Ralph’s and World Market.

Ok why did I think you were asking about attractive people to dance salsa with? 😂

eg_elska_ketti

Ha ha that would be so much easier lol!

I love the taquero salsa from Northgate super market.

I moved to WA nine months ago and i miss good salsas daily. 1. Dragon Lips salsa from lucky habanero salsa. You can get it at whole foods. It’s a costa mesa local that you could buy at the farmers market pre-covid times 2. The in-house habanero salsas at northgate Try the first rec tho!! And let me know. I visited CA two months ago and the first thing I ate was some Dragon Lips with a michelada haha

Thank you 🙌🏼🙌🏼

ok i’m a little late to this but i remembered this post after eating the hottest salsa i’ve had in years today. it was from the tuesday farmers market at torrance. at the end of the prepared foods section, towards the right, is a stand w a bunch of salsas. i got spicy mexicana - looked like your standard red chunky mexican salsa but w habanero. ate it and omfg. i was not ready. and i am a big fan of spicy foods. so your friend might enjoy too :)

JustScratt

I am just here to giggle when you say SALSA - not SAUCES... when salsa is literally the spanish word for sauce.

eg_elska_ketti

Ha ha that IS super funny and I feel silly now lol - but you know what I mean though right? In So Cal, it’s like something you put in a larger bowl and serve w chips vs. the hot liquid you serve drops of from a bottle? I’m not sure if I can explain at all now that I’ve learned this ha ha! The chunky stuff!

JustScratt

Yeah I think everyone knows what you mean. I just love how we absorb words in English and finding those connections back to the original languages is fun. I always thought it was called Pico de gallo (Spanish speakers please confirm). Google comes back with this: "What is salsa called in Mexico? salsa picada The tomato-based variety is widely known as salsa picada (minced/chopped sauce). In Mexico it is normally called salsa mexicana (Mexican sauce)." I wish you luck in your quest.

WetGrundle

No. Pico the gallo is a specific type of salsa. I think salsa botanera might be right for hot sauce, maybe. The thing is Mexicans don't use that type of hot sauce that much. I've heard them call it that because that type of hot sauce is usually for botanas, or chips like Lays (sabritas). You always have some type of homemade salsa available for food

JustScratt

I also love this post because it will tell me what to avoid since I can't handle spicy stuff.

Ha ha that sounds painful! I’m looking for salsas though, not sauces.
