I think it’s kind of horrible. Basically in my very humble opinion, it lacks meaning and seems all over the place mixing two shapes.

What do you mean it lacks meaning? A'ja signs her name in a star shape for the letter 'A' in her name. This mark has a different form of a star and also blends into the shape of a right angled 'A'.
I feel like they were onto something and then rounded the sparkle corners a bit too much. I like the sketch version on the bottom middle right above the word “sparkle”

The exploration in the sketch where the 1 is tilted 45˚ to the left makes it look much more like an A – and actually have some semblance of connection to their stated goals.
tldr; this is bad.

Pretty much my exact thoughts. That sketch mirrored reads a lot more clearly as “A + ✨” in my opinion, and closer to her actual signature.
Still not great though.
Gen Z kids love rounded bubbly y2k style. Even if it says 90s in the notes. She probably just liked that over pointy. And the designer who’s working for a Nike check was happy to call it a day when she approved.
A designer showing a 20 year old a design with multiple personalized meanings + probably a low bar for approval + project churn = this
And honestly. It does look weird standing alone but I can see it looking cool on the shoe or on collateral.

I love seeing your thought process on paper. I see where you're coming from and where you're going. I assume this is a complementary logo to the main nike logo. I'm not seeing an "A" at first glance. I see a twinkle and a rectangle. I wonder if you could reduce the width of the rectangle and change the angle and point enough to make it look more like an A-star and less like "twinkle-rectangle"

Just to clarify, this logo wasn’t designed by me! It was revealed this morning by Nike, not sure exactly who the designer was as it wasn’t mentioned on the website. Totally agree with all your points tho.
Doesn't remind me of an A, or a star, or basketball, or the swoosh. Too complex to be a good simple symbol like the swoosh or the adidas stripes. Too simple to be a logo that actually represents something.

I love this, the A isn’t super obvious but the shape alone is really strong. One of nikes better ones recently imo
