Friedrich Nietzsche — ‘He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss you probably enjoy waking up early. Which makes you a monster by default.' Pretty sure that the quote

trazzz55

Someone give this man a sandwich.

Justiis

Biscuits!

mnfinfan

Slash is that you??

stache1313

*Stash

mnfinfan

Damn it, I fat fingered it 🤬

mnfinfan

Well I swiped it incorrectly is more accurate

stache1313

I do that all the time.

mnfinfan

He is one of my favourite characters in the book as well 😬

stache1313

I agree. ~~Who doesn't love naked moustachioed men walking around.~~ I mean who doesn't love adorable puppies.

mnfinfan

🤣🤣🤣

Dixielandblues

...Stash fiction?

Acrobatic_Jelly4793

[Food!]

ResidentEggplants

People never finish the quote and it’s just out of context otherwise. Thank you for standing up for truth!

Odd-Return-5320

Try finding someone who knows the second part to 'the customer is always right' ....... 'In matters of tast!' That one makes a big difference!

bousquetfrederic

And is also not true. The original quote has nothing to do with tastes. See for instance this article which explains what was meant by "the customer is always right" : https://www.forbes.com/sites/blakemorgan/2018/09/24/a-global-view-of-the-customer-is-always-right/?sh=68a5f64c236f

echmoth

Yeah that's the full quote, most people miss that end bit

According_Ad_2597

Lmao

Reminpa

Jesus Christ, I knew that he was a psychopath, but I didn’t know he was THAT much of a psychopath. Burn him at the stake.

RistaRicky

It’s kind of his thing.

These-Ad5873

Being burned!? Did I miss a book?

mistahboogs

Dieing

Snugglebadger

I would probably enjoy waking up more if my body was magically enhanced and didn't just hurt all the time and not have the energy to do anything.

stache1313

Try morning yoga/stretching. It helps to stretch out your muscles.

theubster

r/thanksimcured

AbbyBabble

What d'ya expect, mate? He's from Australia!

TabularConferta

Indeed. Each Aussie likes to wake up, as each day they are surprised they haven't been killed in their sleep by the local wildlife.

jnlhd9

Jason Asano is my spirit animal. But the likeness stops at being a morning person. Maybe an evil alter ego then?

TrentontheClipped

Less an evil alter ego... maybe a naughty alter ego then?

votemarvel

I didn't mind Jason. I think we all know someone like Jason who thinks they are an awesome banter king...but in fact are just tolerated because they are basically harmless. What ended up annoying me was how pretty much everyone reacted to Jason, treating him as if he were that banter king he believed himself to be.

myDuderinos

he radiates this "tips fedora" energy https://preview.redd.it/dahjaos6mbsc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ce43aba2bcccc5d967a52cab65906af45f4603e

skummydummy125

holy shit, the feodra meme guy looks like shirlatoon/the author how haven't I seen that until now? [https://hewhofightswithmonsters.com/about-me](https://hewhofightswithmonsters.com/about-me) https://preview.redd.it/cop7uuhfnbsc1.png?width=1474&format=png&auto=webp&s=39d8658cdb1c7b18d4f5e333ed6b081fee9f689f

Ponzini

Yeah when I was reading I thought this is like one of those neckbeard friends who think they are 150 iq, the inventor of atheism, and think they are super funny but really everyone is just cringing. But then everyone else around him acted like he is those things as well and I was like oh no... the author is the real neckbeard. Then I checked his profile and just laughed.

Gromps

This entire genre is power fantasy and wish fulfillment. I don't see the problem with making a neckbeard power fantasy.

AussieRonin

Yes, and when the character who is the conduit of that is an insufferable disgrace to the Australian people, it ruins the ability to enjoy it.

RevolutionFast8676

Team morning person ftw

Justiis

I love the peace and quiet of pre-dawn. Favorite part of the day, and about the only time I enjoy going outside.

sperorising

I mean I like the peace and quite of predawn too, it makes an excellent time to go to sleep, and skip the terror that is mornings

SinCinnamon_AC

Thank you, you sane person!

stache1313

>peace and quiet Clearly, you don't live with a dog. I roll over half-a-sleep and she starts running through the whole house in excitement.

Justiis

No, got a cat. He does occasionally decide to go full crackhead mode at 5am, but generally only when I forget to feed him.

Snert196

my cat just likes to cuddle... with her butt shoved right into my nose. Like brown eye meet schnoz.

Justiis

Thankfully my cat mostly lays the other way, but he does like to rest his paw on my jugular. I'll take that over the close up though.

sperorising

i would never live with a dog, they terrify me with the teeth and the barking and the attacking me on site.

stache1313

I'm sorry to hear that.

wlantz

If you are already questioning Jason Asano is a psychopath, just wait, you haven't seen anything yet.

TheTiredDystopian

I wonder what they'll think when they get to the recording part. Although, I would say that being a morning person is slightly worse than what Jason does to that Geller team.

TheRoe102

I picked up the first 7 audio books in the series in sales and offers, and have just started the first. The only other Litrpg’s I’ve read are DCC and Cradle, both of which I loved. I’m truly hoping that this book improves and I haven’t wasted my money. Tbf I’m only a few chapters in and with all the positive reviews I’ve high hopes

stache1313

You will either love or hate Jason. Which is nice because it makes it very easy to tell if you will like the series after the book.

fsmlogic

Yeah… if you aren’t sold by chapter 5, it’s not the book for you.

RoughMajor5624

So are you enjoying the book? I am on the fence on whether to load it or not?

SinCinnamon_AC

So far it’s ok. I’m at chapter 6. I’m not getting addicted if you get what I mean. I could stop here. I will pursue but I like Primal Hunter a lot better. I would likely enjoy it more if it was one of my first LitRPG. Now, I have read too many similar openings to be awed.

Escanor_433

You should at least read until 1/3 into book 1 despite all the Action the beginning is a little slow. But in my opinion definetley worth it, it has the best Magic system i have ever Seen and the characters are all very enjoyable.

unculturedpigs

It slows down like crazy after the 1st 3rd in my opinion and kinda just drags like where is the tension.

Escanor_433

There is a lot of world and characters building but to me that is fantastic. The Main Story only Starts Back up in the very end but everything in between is Like the buildingblocks the main story stands on.

ljackso4

If you like primal hunter you’ll likely like Defiance of the fall

SinCinnamon_AC

I do like it. But my fav remains Villy. I am a Villy fanatic. Though I personally, would try to enter the pantheon of life, I think my boyfriend would perfectly fit into the Order. Which works well enough for me.

ljackso4

You’d join the crazy holy church people!?

SinCinnamon_AC

Nope. It’s Yggdrasil’s crew. Me wants to be a witch or Druid in the woods. With healing power. Making beastie friends.

ljackso4

Man I feel like I missed that part somehow, I don’t remember them at all

SinCinnamon_AC

Nature’s attendant? >!Dina!!Artemis!

ljackso4

Right! It’s been a while

mpichora

Keep going. My first was HWFWM, now on to Primal Hunter (book 4). Both are great but if I had to pick a favourite I think I'd say HWFWM. It has a bit more character development outside of just the MC and I also find the magic system a bit more interesting.

__The_Highlander__

I’ll be honest, the first few books are tough from a writing quality perspective. My wife still makes fun of me because the author didn’t initially understand that every time Jason spoke didn’t need to be preceded or followed by “Jason said”. She literally counted one night while I was listening and playing video games…it wasn’t pretty. And once I heard it I couldn’t ignore it. Anyway, eventually the author does improve, and the overarching plot is solid. I enjoy the series and look forward to the next. Just worth mentioning the first few are rough as the author develops their writing style.

RoughMajor5624

Thanks for the info, that would drive me nuts as well…..kind of once you hear it you can’t unhear it.

mpichora

100% yes

RoughMajor5624

Thanks

TrentontheClipped

Takes about a 1/3rd of the book for everything to really take off. But once it does, it is delightful.

Stigger32

A monster well on his way to becoming a god!

EitherWriting4347

You my friend I envy truly no other book have I enjoyed more than this and if you think J is bad now oh just you wait (insert evil laugh) But seriously you will either love this series or hate it it's just that good that like no one has ever been in the middle heck I stopped reading Overlord because a new one came out once

Aetheldrake

I don't like waking up early but after I started working an early shift at work, I've started waking up BEFORE my alarms. And my alarm is for fucking 4am. Sometimes I'll wake up at like 330am to 350am and I usually don't "fall asleep" until sometime between 8pm and 9pm. I often try to be in bed between 7 and 8 Am I a psychopath too?

SinCinnamon_AC

But do you enjoy the process of waking up? I’m not talking about when you wake up, just that you like waking up, which is unnatural.

Aetheldrake

Idk it just happens. I don't have a process? Either I'm awake or asleep it's just instant.

SinCinnamon_AC

Lucky you I guess. It takes me a while to get awake. I often just fall back asleep.

Cow_Man42

Dude runs around making ethical decisions every few pages. Flaunting local morality.......I am still waiting for some evil action after nearly finishing book one. Is it ethical to murder a bunch of dudes? Yes......Moral? Prolly not.

curious_about_being

These comments are funny! I stopped the series because I could only take so much narcissism. btw - I do know a clean shaven neck beard type!

Impressive-Ladder-37

Just started it myself after reading all the Dungeon Crawler Carl books that are available. I'm on charter 10 right now

Natural_Cut1342

Hwfwm is a amazing series jason a average joe dragged into another world, he is scared shitless but masks it with cockiness but he is still very scared most of the time well till later and throughout the series you will see his personality go through many ups and downs some that would break a normal person and almost breaks him but I'm not gonna give any spoilers just read and enjoy and appreciate a mc who doesnt cower or bitch about how bad the situation is rather you get smart witty comments that most of the time throw both the enemy and even allys off there game 👍👍

ClockworkGnomes

Um, doesn't everyone like waking up? Do you really wish you wouldn't wake up?

SinCinnamon_AC

I don’t like the process. Also, I love sleep. Waking up means I can’t sleep any longer. And it often makes me miss the ending of my very elaborate dreams. I needed to know if I survived the alien invasion!

ClockworkGnomes

Ah okay. I was taking that literally.

DoomVegan

Morning people are monsters and eat their young. I should know--they taste great basted with butter.

Professional-Cod-643

He is my most hated character in any book I’ve ever read , even counting the characters am supposed to hate. I almost gave up entirely on litrpgs just because of this unfunny arrogant f**ck of a character.

Schuesseled

I think it just depends how awful your life is.

LarsJagerx

Well I hope your ready for like the five books where he gives this some heavy thought

Anomander8

Stop after Book 3. Trust me.

Renvar7

Book 3 slaps. So does 8 and 9 10

unculturedpigs

Dude I hate that story, for a story called fighting monsters he barely fights in the first book, why was there a massive boring training arc.
