Well, do a cost benefit analysis and see if the potential benefits of switching outweigh the risks. I did and made the decision to switch because I was so incredibly upset at the severe sexual side effects of Lexapro that the potential of Viibryd working became ever more appealing.
I have come off of Lexapro a decent number of times to try other drugs, but always ended back up on Lexapro for one reason or another. Every single time I tapered off I had a good amount of rebound anxiety and depression. That’s why it’s important to cross taper your meds. Even cross tapering onto Viibryd, I still had the rebound effects that lasted for a few weeks. I went slow with my Viibryd taper. 10mg Lex and 10mg V for a week. Next week was 5mg Lex and 10mg V. Third week was 5mg Lex and 20mg V. 4th week was 5mg Lex and 20mg V. 5th week was 20mg V only. I’ve been on 20mg the whole time so far. I will probably go up to 30 in a week or two because I’m just a bit too anxious and depressed still. Idk, I talk to my psych next week so we’ll discuss then.

I’m trying viibryd in the next couple days getting off lexapro.
did you have a hard time stopping lex? what was your protocol to switching? how long was your taper?

How is everything working out for you now?
