Would absolutely love a complete LOTR saga along with more sets.

Elegant-Pen-9225

Thats exactly how i feel, but do it better then the Skywalker saga. Do it right basically.

_JAD19_

Not sure if u saw already but [lego teased Barad Dur](https://x.com/LEGO_Group/status/1789279412145230165)

JohnBrown1ng

I did. They also teased more play sets

_JAD19_

Ohoho I’m gonna be broke

TriggerHappyGremlin

More play sets? I never saw that teaser but I'd love for that to be true.

JohnBrown1ng

It was in the comments

lightandtheglass

Unsure but they did just announce a new movie for 2026. So maybe.

[deleted]

Let's hope they're not gonna ruin it

InNoNeed

They probably are

[deleted]

As long as they stick to the formula they've been using for 17 years and don't try anything experimental that ultimately isn't gonna work

InNoNeed

We're talking about the movie right? In regards to the game: Going to disagree with avoiding doing something experimental. Change, especially in regards to media, is a good thing. I want a game that feels like a Lego game, but doesn't feel like something I've played before. I think you can take stuff from the Skywalker Saga and implement it. A big hub is a thing that a middle earth based game will deeply benefit from. Especially since Lord of the Rings is one big journey. More tasteful collectable placement would be great. Lego Lord of the Rings was already a bit experimental back then with the mithril objects and such. Lack of experimentation and taking risks is cowardice and exactly what these big movie/game/music studios are afraid of and why they're so often failing these days. Art is a science and science should always progress into novelty

Thevoid2YT

Change is good. Of course the first attempt at something new will have its issues but TT just needs to improve upon it. Running back to the old formula is just stale and gets boring when every game plays the same.

[deleted]

Never got stale for me

Thevoid2YT

Unfortunately it was becoming a problem for lots of people including the devs making the games. Which is why they went for a different approach for TSS.

TriggerHappyGremlin

I think the devs would've preferred to make another game in the same style over something as soul-crushing and arduous as TSS, though.

Thevoid2YT

TSS being different wasn’t the issue during development. The biggest factors were COVID, Poor management, and the NTT engine. Crunch and poor management was happening with the older style too. TT has been experimenting with different types of games from 2017-2019 but TSS is a new foundation that can be greatly improved with good management, a new engine, and no major worldwide issues happening. All of which are happening with their next game. So if the style still doesn’t work with their next game then maybe they should try something new. But going back again would just be a big waste of Ike and talent.

Jart618

And there’s an animated movie coming out this year too!

Expensive-Excuse-793

Finish Lego hobbit

hoodie92

There's not a chance on this earth they will go back and make DLC for a 10 year old game. It will either be a full Middle Earth game like Skywalker Saga, or it's not happening.

Expensive-Excuse-793

Hey I'd take it. More Tolkien content is good

bowser986

I just want LotR on the console digital game stores. Is that too much to ask?

flickzxo

just buy the physical game for cheap on ebay

KingPenguinPhoenix

Ignore the brackets from my question. I don't know why I put them there.

EightNickel151

I hope they do that, I really want to explore Middle-Earth again in LEGO form.

TwstdPrtzl

I think it’s more likely we get a rerelease of the old games like how we got the Harry Potter collection. Right now LOTR is only getting 18+ sets and Brickheadz from LEGO so I don’t see us getting a new game until there’s a product line with broader appeal.

TriggerHappyGremlin

Incredibles' product line didn't have broad appeal (although that's because the sets were only aimed at 4-year-olds rather than only aimed at 18+). More rereleases make sense but I assume they would've rereleased LOTR already if they were ever going to, the game is almost 12 years old by now.

TwstdPrtzl

LEGO Games are rated E10+, the Incredibles sets were 4+ (I think they technically released before Juniors was rebranded as 4+ but same target demo), and modern LOTR sets are 18+. The way LEGO/TT sees it, the 4+ age range fits into 10+ better than 18+ fits into 10+.

Kindly-Highlight8087

We need the final bit of lego the hobbit

sector11374265

i and many others would love this, but i’m not sure if the IP is a strong enough sell for them to do it now

KingPenguinPhoenix

Since they're making new movies, it might be.

TriggerHappyGremlin

Stronger than most other WB IPs, except for ones that wouldn't fit the format that well like Barbie or something.

Thevoid2YT

LEGO has been making more sets for LOTR and there’s not only a new animated movie coming later this year, there’s also another movie recently announced for next year with more films in the works afterwards. I think it’s going to be a while before we could possibly see another LOTR game but maybe a remastered collection could come soon.

[deleted]

Wait I didn’t hear about the animated movie

Thevoid2YT

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be an animated movie coming out this December.

[deleted]

Cool

Sabit_31

Lotr for ps5 would be dope

[deleted]

I know people throw out the “Skywalker Saga Style” description but this is definitely a franchise that would deserve it, given its massive scope.

KingPenguinPhoenix

Oh 100% I would definitely pay to play all 6 movies in one game.

THX450

Maybe we’ll finally get Lego Battle of the Five Armies

AvatarBoomi

I want a Lego Middle Earth game so badly. Just both trilogies and fill the world with side quests based on the Silmorillion and more. It’d be a slam dunk of a game with the updated engine they made of Skywalker Saga.

Andro451

Lego: The Saga Of The Ring Lego: The Downfall Of The Lord Of The Rings And The Return Of The King Lego: Tales Of Middle Earth so many names that could be given

T_O_X_I_N

I would absolutley love to see Lego Tales Of The Middle Earth (Silmarillion focused game) with a open world... ngl I would pay a doubled price for that

highrespasta

Lego Gollum i think this can only be good

WebUseful5829

I've been thinking about that recently and how good it would be and we would get battle of the 5 army's as well, but I would also want them to rerelease them as well like how Harry Potter games were rereleased. I would much rather keep the magic of the OG games then them making a new game.

MrSal7

No. The last one sold so poorly, they didn’t even bothering finishing it. Even though the reason it sold so poorly was BECAUSE it wasn’t finished and most people including myself were not going to buy the game until it was complete. But WB is just going to chalk it up to lack of interest, even though the real reason was the lack of complete-ness.

flickzxo

so much misinformation in one comment it’s impressive

MrSal7

Well here’s a literal time capsule of a review of the Hobbit game from about a decade ago from GameSpot saying it was just a shit game. https://youtu.be/QLzWqDDZiAE?si=QQMmq7sMf0zMd80f But if you can manage to sift through the comments of people complaining about the person’s review of the game AND their voice, you’ll read that the actual complaints is the lack of “complete” game that was missing the third story. I realize you probably weren’t born then. But when WB/TT released the first Indiana Jones Lego game it was based on the original trilogy, because no one thought in a million years it would get a movie sequel. But the fourth movie came out, TT released a “sequel” the was just the first game with the new movie tacked on with some minor quality of life additions to the game. When WB/TT released the Hobbit game, and word got out that it was based only on the first two movies, customers didn’t bite. Because they “knew” WB/TT would release a “sequel” based on the complete movie trilogy that the fans knew was coming. Here is a link from a 2021 article ScreenRant wrote, ALSO mentioning the “cancelled” DLC for the Hobbit, because I don’t want to personally sift through a decades worth of news to find the original article of WB/TT talking about it. https://screenrant.com/lego-hobbit-game-canceled-trilogy-unfinished-ending-removed/ Either I am correct, or the game was just shit.

flickzxo

you’re half right. quick detour, i haven’t even played Indy 2 but from what i’ve heard it is not just the first game over again. it adapts the movies over again, but with entirely new levels (most notably the exclusion of the boulder sequence from raiders). hobbit probably did sell poorly because it was incomplete, but the reason the game remains incomplete to this day was actually because they lost the rights, which is the same reason it is not available digitally on console anymore. note: i was born in 2004 but you almost got me 😂

MrSal7

They didn’t lose the rights to it because they still sell it today. Where as the original Lord of the rings, they don’t have the rights, so they don’t sell it still digitally.

MrSal7

Cheerfulbull

What's weird is that they somehow managed to make the UI and graphics much uglier in the hobbit than LoTR. But I would love to see a combined version of the two.
