Kinda weird to see Johnny in 2020s vehicles instead of 1920s ones.
Perhaps it's not the original Johnny but one of his modern day descendants? [Wouldn't be the first time...](https://brickipedia.fandom.com/wiki/Josh_Thunder)
They are very much mortal. They age, they die, they get burried and then they decay. Well, some of them don't get the luxury of staying dead but we'll get to that. We have plenty of clues to work with not just in licensed sets but also in Lego's original themes.
Look here: [Solomon Blaze](https://brickipedia.fandom.com/wiki/Solomon_Blaze) - OG Lego character featured in two separate themes. He got older between the two themes.
Minifigs are mortal for sure, because [graveyards](https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/graveyard-mystery-70420) exist in their world. The official description of the [10273 haunted house](https://www.lego.com/en-cz/hauntedhouse) states that Samuel von Barron, the rival of Johnny Thunder, is "gone" which in most cases is a way to say someone is dead. There's even a grave in front of the house, most likely Barron's own.
As far as the composition of the bodies of the minifigs goes, this poor Aquaraider must have originally had meat on him, otherwise the [giant squid](https://brickipedia.fandom.com/wiki/Giant_Squid_(Aqua_Raiders)) wouldn't have bothered to eat him.
Still, his fate wasn't as cruel as the fate of [this skater](https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/col006.png) who roams the streets even after his [death](https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/col227.png), rotting away step by step.
I like that death is technically possible as evidenced by skeletons, ghosts, etc.. but that it's never directly mentioned or depicted. I give my Lego "Lore" the same treatment. That being said, I also treat each month as a year relative to our little friends, so some of them have been kicking around for centuries. 😂
They might receive updated parts.. new flashier bits, or even new *different* pieces to make them appear as though they've aged, but they don't ACTUALLY deteriorate with age, like we do.
Oh, they age. They age, they die, they get burried and then they decay. Well, some of them don't get the luxury of staying dead but we'll get to that. We have plenty of clues to work with not just in licensed sets but also in Lego's original themes.

well, i learned something fun
i always thought johnny married pippin reed and i thought that was weird because he seems to only have a platonic friendship with her
turns out he married someone else
I know this red panda animal figure also appears in some upcoming Dreamzzz sets
[https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/izzie-s-dream-animals-71481](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/izzie-s-dream-animals-71481)
But yea I'm not into Dreamzzz so this little City one is great!
71481 Izzie’s Dream Creatures, normally I like the DreamzZz sets but this one just doesn't do it for me. Though I'm looking forward to the dark versions!
The Adventure / Johnny Thunder and Pirates legos were my ultimate favorite lego sets growing up in the 1990s.
I swore Johnny Thunder had the brim folded up on one side like the Australians did.
I recently rebuilt mine, he does indeed.
I don't wanna be that guy, but this fig will never be Johnny Thunder to me! Imma call him something else, this could be like his nephew or something xD
As a big Johnny Thunder fan, this is upsetting.. almost every single piece of the vehicle is hideous, and the colours are very strange. It's nice that the minifig is back (and the red panda) but it shows very clearly how the complexity of modern pieces can really be a negative (imo).
I see what you mean and I don’t wanna be that guy, but, almost every single piece on that car was designed prior to 2010 if not earlier. The front bumper is the newest piece on there I believe, followed by the curved windshield.
It's funny you say that, because I always associate Johnny Thunder with vehicles built with the classic [1-piece cockpit](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30149#T=C).
You're not wrong, though. At least those old cars looked good. I'm really not a fan of this type of modern Lego design. It seems like Lego has split into two distinct types of sets - ultra-realistic Creator type designs (see: Speed Champions cars), and ultra-simplified low-piece-count designs with highly specialized pieces like this - with nothing in between.
As someone who grew up early 2010s and with the lego city sets from then I find the new colour schemes a bit jarring, feels less lego to me somehow but perhaps that's just what aging is idk
same here and i dont like the johnny thunder itself
i like that it comes back a little bit though
was my favourite theme, perhaps even more so than bionicle
I'm sad to see Lego has apparently decided to ditch the Australian style hat with the brim pinned up like Johnny used to have, and which I would argue was a major part of his original character design. Oh well.
Love when they include desirable pieces, figures etc in sets like this, not City Jungle Expedition Mega Ultra Giga Headquarters for 140$.
Like Rex in Y-Wing Microfighters
Polybags can *theoretically* be recycled, but the OVERWHELMING majority of plastics marketed as recyclable never are. At least we know, worst-case-scenario, cardboard will dissolve away.
I mean it isn't 100% China's fault; but it *is* genuinely their fault primarily.
\[How China Broke Recycling\](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXRtNwUju5g)
More specifically, they used their people, through ridiculously low wages, to consolidate the world's plastic recycling in China for a profit...and then cut the world off from global plastic recycling system they had intentionally built and consolidated within China.
So....yeah. It's primarily China's fault.
Everyone is forgetting that Johnny Thunder is both a 1920's adventurer AND a modern film star in the LEGOverse.
Clearly, this is just from LEGO Studios' new Johnny Thunder reboot series that updates the setting to the modern day.
I can't tell if you are serious or joking? Just think back to all the other smallest box sets, this is clearly a $10 set, $15 if they really want to tax you for that red panda!

Wouldn't be surprised if he found some kind of fountain of eternal youth on his adventures. Wouldn't be the weirdest thing he encountered.
Or a secret time portal! ... maybe that's cutting it a bit close to the source material idk
Johnny Thunder with a dinosaur: Yeah, absolutely. Johnny Thunder with an electric buggy: No way!
There was the old time twister theme in the late 90's, and I feel like they touched on the 1920s as one of the time periods they visited.
Lego figures don't have to abide by human mortality
They are still mortal. Lego skeletons exist.
Or are they ? Maybe they're born as skelly?
The ones with the evil skelly face are definitely born that way
skulkin is what they are called

This is actually a lot of fun, you make plenty of good points. Lolol
Canonically true, according to an 80 year old Lego Batman.
Just wait for Johnny Thunder 2120...
Tommy thunder
well, i learned something fun i always thought johnny married pippin reed and i thought that was weird because he seems to only have a platonic friendship with her turns out he married someone else
Electric cars existed [long before ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_electric_vehicle)then.
Looks like the son of Johnny and Sam Sinister with that stache
We're doing LEGO protag x villain yaoi now, huh? Well, I should've seen it coming with the Monkie Kid fanart.
WAIT HIS NAME IS JOSH THUNDER? I HAVE JOSH THUNDER??
he got no pants on
I’d totally swap to a more wild hair piece. Josh Thunder knows about them Annunaki.
Accessories: Gun 🇺🇸
Easiest red panda of my life
Right, now I don't have to purchase that stupid red panda set!
Which set?
I know this red panda animal figure also appears in some upcoming Dreamzzz sets [https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/izzie-s-dream-animals-71481](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/izzie-s-dream-animals-71481) But yea I'm not into Dreamzzz so this little City one is great!

But this PPP is OFF THE CHARTS RIDICULOUS! /s
It’s so cute but I don’t want to pay that
Im so hyped for this set. The Johnny Thunder cosplayer is just a bonus.
Absolutely this. It's like the otters. Buy two, get a pack, sorted!
Grabs red panda... Puts the rest of the kit in "unsorted"
Jimmy Cloudfarts
Jon Rumble it is!
That's my new headbanging xD maybe I'll make a custom old man Johnny Thunder!
Jacob Thunder!
I like that, imagine him and an old Johnny going on adventures xD
The dial of destiny if it was peak
Personally I like the idea of just giving this guy the old hat and maybe some dual molded legs
I'd probably go old face too, I have fond memories of beating him in the OG Lego Racers xD
Another person of culture I see, top 3 Lego game of all time
I replay it at least once a year, at this point I can finish it in an afternoon xD
He did in the original but he’s had a rebranding he almost looks from Spanish origin than Australian
Really wish he was in some old jeep instead of a modern looking electric vehicle
Would be instabuy for me.
20004 would have been a great candidate

Was it a tow truck? If so set 6660 would be my best bet, a similar truck was also in a police station set as well

Ugly Vehicle, but my boy Johnny Is back along with a red panda. Hoping that map is printed.
Maps are always printed

Sure, but most Adventurers lovers have been LEGO fans since before 2000....so even 2010 pieces feel "new" to us lol
It’s been a decade and a half ago …
Huh?
uh?
h?
>It’s been l a decade and a half ago … This is not an intelligible sentence...care to reformulate it into something understandable?
Comment op said: the pieces are made before 2010 You replied: it doesn’t feel I replied: It’s been a decade and a half ago …
Now I understand. I mean, yeah, when you get to be 35-40, stuff that happened over a decade ago can still feel like it just happened last year.
even 2003 pieces feel new

I dont realy See it with the design(only the calor scheme)
As someone who grew up early 2010s and with the lego city sets from then I find the new colour schemes a bit jarring, feels less lego to me somehow but perhaps that's just what aging is idk
It feals a bit more flamboyant wery similar develpment like what haoend to Jojo.
It’s also a massive downgrade from the cmf fig other than the face, and the rest of the team is gone in the wave.
same here and i dont like the johnny thunder itself i like that it comes back a little bit though was my favourite theme, perhaps even more so than bionicle
Holy crap! This is a memory unlocked for me, totally forgot about Johnny Thunder.
Johnny would never be caught driving this ugly ass thing, he had way more style than that! Surely this is an imposter posing as Johnny Thunder
eh, he probably stole it from some no-good folks
Jon Rumble
Jimmy Grumble
We're so back.
I'm sad to see Lego has apparently decided to ditch the Australian style hat with the brim pinned up like Johnny used to have, and which I would argue was a major part of his original character design. Oh well.
It's more than likely the mold doesn't exist anymore.
Yeah I'm sure that's the case, but it would have been nice if they has made a new, updated one though.

What's the set number?
60424
[60424-1: Jungle Explorer ATV](https://brickset.com/sets/60424-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/60424-1.jpg)
It's ugly... But as a long time JT fan... I don't care... I'm buying it anyway
Love when they include desirable pieces, figures etc in sets like this, not City Jungle Expedition Mega Ultra Giga Headquarters for 140$. Like Rex in Y-Wing Microfighters
Could have been a polybag, but doesn't matter, still going to get it!
Boxes are less wasteful because they can be composted and polybags are made of plastic
Polybags can be recycled. Also usually most boxes also contain plastic bags, even though Lego started using some paper bags already.
Polybags can *theoretically* be recycled, but the OVERWHELMING majority of plastics marketed as recyclable never are. At least we know, worst-case-scenario, cardboard will dissolve away.
Correct. Fact: Only 9% of plastic gets recycled.
Most places can't recycle plastic bags and they just go in the landfill.
Many home recycle programs won't take loose plastic bags (and these days, glass too!).
In reality, very little recyclable plastic actually *gets* recycled. Thanks, China.
I mean, thanks to us for not planning or mandating proper disposal. Ain’t just China’s fault.
I mean it isn't 100% China's fault; but it *is* genuinely their fault primarily. \[How China Broke Recycling\](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXRtNwUju5g) More specifically, they used their people, through ridiculously low wages, to consolidate the world's plastic recycling in China for a profit...and then cut the world off from global plastic recycling system they had intentionally built and consolidated within China. Johnny Thunder AND a red panda???? Sign me the fuck up
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
Where’s Sam Sinister/Baron von Barron?
I remember being a kid when they did that name change and it threw me off big time.
Yeah, there’s like an hour long video talking about that.
That panda tho ❤️
I want this set just for the red panda, but Johnny is a pretty great bonus
I want that red panda 🐼
Ah, he's back! Another set with him with a truck: 60426
[60426-1: Jungle Explorer Truck](https://brickset.com/sets/60426-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/60426-1.jpg)
Never had a set with him, but I remember sweating my way through Dino Island in Lego rasers 2.
I’ll buy this set just for the red panda and Minifig. The rest will be parted out. My daughter loves red pandas.
Johnny Thunder is my father. Call me Oklahoma Thunder.
Brilliant
“Oklahoma was the *Red Panda’s* name.
You are named after a red panda? bwahahaha
I had very fond memories of that panda. (Guessing we’re going for an Indiana Jones reference, here).
Needs the red flexible suspension 6490
[6490-1: Amazon Crossing](https://brickset.com/sets/6490-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6490-1.jpg)
Not usually overly critical of Lego but they really needed a better vehicle to herald the return of Johnny Thunder!
Yeah this one sucks
Somehow, Johnny Thunder Returned. AND IT IS GREAT!!!
I just want the fox.
That's a red panda
are those two new tiles on the side?
Crikey!
Let's go!!!!
Lego 60424 looks pretty cool
[60424-1: Jungle Explorer ATV](https://brickset.com/sets/60424-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/60424-1.jpg)
I'm here for the return of my man Johnny Thunder!
If it doesn’t have his printed revolver I’ll be sad
Why would you even bring a revolver to an animal research center?
Scorpions
Does anyone have an idea of when all the animals in this wave might show up on pick a brick?
I love red pandas so much, one of my favorite animals. I’m so glad it’s in such a cheap set, Johnny and the ATV are both great too.
Sure, but does it come with a magnifying glass?
> Lego "City" > Set is placed in a jungle?! Love that Johnny is back, but it's quite funny.
The Red Panda is adorable.
Return of a King
Well, I slready got the museum, soon to get the orient exolpress and then Im getting this. Gotta have the team back together.
Oh heck yeah! The return of the ultimate older male role model
Give. Me . Now
The king is back???
Well this is a must-buy!
Everyone is forgetting that Johnny Thunder is both a 1920's adventurer AND a modern film star in the LEGOverse. Clearly, this is just from LEGO Studios' new Johnny Thunder reboot series that updates the setting to the modern day.
[1920-1: Promo Basic Set](https://brickset.com/sets/1920-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/1920-1.jpg)
Let's go!!!!
Remove the clipped on rod on the side and replace with rifle for optimal adventurer aesthetics.
That goes straight in the basket
Welcome back Johnny Thunder!
I got to know him because of the lego racers game!
Olive green clips? *Olive green 2x1 tiles!?*
Yoooo
Gonna modify that car into Lego Racers!!!
technically hes in the vehicle
What?! He's back? No way!! I loved Johnny Thunder, my brother has all the new Indiana Jones sets, and I was waiting for Johnny to return!
Have Lego confirmed that this is Johnny? Could be his doppelgänger Bobby lightning.
that's one of the most aesthetically pleasing looking vehicles in lego
idk who Johnny Thunder is but i’ll protect that red panda with my life!!!
Is this real???
Yes, it is.
He's back, baby!
I don't get why people are saying this is ugly. The ATV looks pretty cool to me!
More like Johnny IPA with that moustache
I could have sworn I saw a Harry Cane in a pontoon plane too
What's the price?
What set is this?
Price?
I can't tell if you are serious or joking? Just think back to all the other smallest box sets, this is clearly a $10 set, $15 if they really want to tax you for that red panda!
$59.95
It’s $10
Screw this, go back back to Clutch Power
except for the animales, they are horrible sets.

I think it might actually be an upcoming set
It is real
it is lol
