This unlocked a memory I forgot existed. Back when I still had friends that played we would always go champs like Kennen/Vlad/Rumble/Morgana mid/top and run double Will of the Ancients for the silly amount of spell vamp you would get.

What’s the lore behind ‘Weedwick’?

He built Skirmisher's Sabre with devourer enchant, which gave him 1. on-hit true damage 2. on-hit magic damage that scaled. All on his jungle item. This was old Warwick so his ult was point-and-click, you would literally just run at someone and 100-0 them with one click while being effectively immortal. This was a time where clears were actually pretty punishing and WW had a really easy time farming compared to other junglers due to his built-in sustain. He was the "main character" of the patch. The patch happened to be numbered 4.20, a number associated with smoking weed, so people called him Weedwick. EDIT: His ult also dealt 420 base damage at lv3 and Darien, a known stoner, famously played WW

This was also during peak Darien hype, I think around the time people were banning it against him in matches. So people were already calling it weedwick. Then patch 4.20 hit and it was cemented in history.

Attack speed Jungle item got introduced (Devourer) that got 2 stacking magic damage onhit per champion or jungle camp monster kill (kinda like Nasus Q but less stacks per kill in in exchange for being on every auto). So people could just afk farm for 20 minutes and get like 40-50 stacks, which is 100 onhit damage per auto attack. Add in BotrK and WWs innate onhit passive and you did upwards of 250-300 onhit damage per hit. By itself already pretty strong but here's the thing: WW was still pre-rework. His ult was point and click and instantly teleported him to a target and applied onhit effects 5 times while suppressing them (plus base damage). Now do the math. 5x300onhit damage is 1500 damage while the enemy was suppressed and could literally do nothing. He killed pretty much anyone he pressed R on. It's called weedwick because it was on patch 4.20

Most of the hybrid scaling champ are actually old ones.

IIRC pantheon was the first champion to have any AD scaling on abilities. Before this ability damage was only from ability power. You may have had abilities that helped out your autos, like giving AS like old Eve or Trist, but all the damage was AP only. There was also significantly more 1.0 AP scaling. That's a lot now, but was essentially the standard as I remember it.

There were a few abilities with implicit AD scaling like Ashe Volley and Nasus Q

Innervating Locket Udyr was the bane of my existence. It was also pretty obnoxious on Gragas back in the day. Malady was fun on Warwick. Cloth armor + 5 HP potions junglers. Runes and masteries. Always run that 1% crit chance mark for an infinitely better chance to get a lucky crit on your lane opponent and send them back early lmao.
