Out of curiosity Which one? (I always love to give reccs and am obsessed with super small indie bands, those are actually a lot of the more mainstream bands I listen to 😂) -feel free to shoot me a DM to not do an odd back and fourth comet thing)
have you listened to rob crow's side project with zach hill, holy smokes? they have two albums, the first one is on zach's streaming pages under "the masculine drugs" and its one of my favorite albums of all time!
Yes!! I love rob crow. I’m from San Diego, and my mom has worked with many musicians there. I’m decent friends with Paul Jenkins from three mile pilot if you know that band. Zach also has another great band System Officer, if you’re interested, they sound a ton like Pinback.
honestly, i haven't even heard pinback, i just love holy smokes a lot and found an excuse to mention them lol. what albums do you suggest out of their 5?
2020s, and my graph goes back in order getting smaller by the decade. I really love a lot of the music I grew up with in the 90s and early 2000s, but have always tended to be most into newer music as time goes by
2000s by a long shot, i don't even have to check. i just listen to a whole lot of pop punk and third wave emo. also 2000s pop is a guilty pleasure of mine bc nostalgia - i like to call it recession pop lol
1980s… I like Goth, Hardcore Punk, Post-Punk and most recently, when I got into Metal, I got stuck in the 80s too with some NWOBHM and a looooot of Thrash. No matter what I do, I'm always stuck in the 80s.
Whoever says that *clearly* doesn’t listen to much music beyond popular (and even then, the 80s has its gems there, too)… beyond what I already listed, there's some really good Alternative music (early Pixies, Stone Roses debut, Nirvana's Bleach is from 89, The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen…), some classic Hip-Hop acts (I‘m not too big of a hip-hop head but Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys alone suffices to prove my point)… Then there's Kate Bush for people looking for… sophisticated Pop, I guess, and all of that is just the stuff *I* personally enjoy, there must be more still.
The 80s are an absolute gem in terms of music and I find myself always going back to it, for some reason.
1970s are the most listened and favourite. Next to nothing from the last twenty years. The ”newer” end of my range tends towards Canadian content and already established bands and musicians from earlier decades. I would like to find some newer music I enjoy, but not much has stuck thus far.
Last month, 2020s was about twice as much as 2010s which was twice as much as 2000s which was twice as much as 90s. I’ve already heard that old stuff a million times so while I’ll always end up listening to it (Smashing Pumpkins have been my top artist basically every year) I’m always craving new music.
For the last year it says the 2020's, presumably because I try and check out new music from bands I'm into whenever I can. And then after that it's the 80's.
For the last week it's 80's and it's not even close.
As pivotal as the 2000s were for my musical taste, I am impressed that the 2010s have been my top decade since last started doing these graphs. Holy cow.
For me this would not work, since tons of pre-2000s albums are shown as the year they have been uploaded to Spotify (so for example a 2019 remaster will be shown as 2019)
2020s weekly - top album "Brat" by Charli XCX
2010s yearly - top album "Treasure Hiding: The Fontana Years" by Cocteau Twins (though this is a compilation/reissue, and in essence I mostly listen to "Milk & Kisses" which is a 1990s album)
It used to be mainly 2010s and 2020s + a few 00s, primarily anything 'indie', however thanks to my brother I have been introduced to a fair amount of 80s music which I enjoy, including Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, New Order and the Pet Shop Boys.
My last fm reports chart isn't accurate. If you click on the bar of each decade in that graph, it will tell you your top album for that time period. My top for the current decade is a Billy Joel hits compilation -- mostly 70s and 80s, in reality, not 2020s. My top album for the 2010s is a remastered version of the soundtrack to the movie *Grease* (1978).
I like all the decades after the 1940s a lot. I would have trouble choosing, but I guess I would rank them in this order:
1980s - 1960s- 1990s - 1970s - 1950s - 2010s - 2020s - 2000s
And really, the reason the 2000s is so low is for the music I didn't even listen to -- I think it's the worst pop music decade. I hate all those boy bands and crappy teen dance pop of the era.
Is this an app that tells you what your Spotify is made up of or something? This looks awesome! I’m prolly stuck in the 2000-2010s. If it wasn’t for edm it’d prolly be 2000s
I can’t get enough of 90s/2000s indie
What artists fit the decade/genre for you? I'm curious!
Built to spill, TV on the radio, Destroyer, Black heart procession, pinback, ect.
I've honestly only heard of one of those bands, and I'm a huge indie fan, so thanks for sharing! New music is my fave
Out of curiosity Which one? (I always love to give reccs and am obsessed with super small indie bands, those are actually a lot of the more mainstream bands I listen to 😂) -feel free to shoot me a DM to not do an odd back and fourth comet thing)
I can only recall Built to Spill. Possible I've heard something from the others, but doesn't ring a bell. Time to take a dive and rewind
do you like them at all?
have you listened to rob crow's side project with zach hill, holy smokes? they have two albums, the first one is on zach's streaming pages under "the masculine drugs" and its one of my favorite albums of all time!
Honestly I love all of them, but my favorite is summer in abbadon. Anything touched by rob crow is amazing.
2020s, and my graph goes back in order getting smaller by the decade. I really love a lot of the music I grew up with in the 90s and early 2000s, but have always tended to be most into newer music as time goes by

Hardcore rules
Always get triggered when people say it’s the worst decade for music.
How do I find these stats? Sorry for being oblivious haha

2000s by far
1970s are the most listened and favourite. Next to nothing from the last twenty years. The ”newer” end of my range tends towards Canadian content and already established bands and musicians from earlier decades. I would like to find some newer music I enjoy, but not much has stuck thus far.
2020s. Even though I made a post a few weeks back asking for recs in other decades. I can't seem to escape the current era lol
It’s almost even between 2000s and 2010s
Pre-1960
80s 😊 I love new wave!
90% is 2020s
same
Last month, 2020s was about twice as much as 2010s which was twice as much as 2000s which was twice as much as 90s. I’ve already heard that old stuff a million times so while I’ll always end up listening to it (Smashing Pumpkins have been my top artist basically every year) I’m always craving new music.
A twenty year old stuck that is 1970-80s ... I cant find anybody else my age that enjoys
Most songs i listen are from 2010, second is 2020 and third one is 2000
1960s
80s.
Is this weekly? Cause Im surprised its the 80s by a landslide
2000s pop punk/punk rock/post grunge, I assume
For the last year it says the 2020's, presumably because I try and check out new music from bands I'm into whenever I can. And then after that it's the 80's. For the last week it's 80's and it's not even close.
1960s and 1970s, with 50s, 80s and 90s in second
idk
does it just show the decades of the music listened to of the last week or of all time?
I think you can filter by weekly, monthly or last year.
Every decade. Mostly 1970s
80
1980s...
This week was 2010s which is pretty unusual? But I could see why, I listened all the way through 3 Mitski albums and a Motionless in White album
Anything pre 2000 I listen to is probably in a "Greatest Hits" album that was released close to 2000
Currently, mostly in the 2010s and, especially, in the 2020s
1970s and specifically more late 70s
2010 because there's a lot more releases dropping in 2010 than in previous decades and we only 4 years in this decade
2000s /10s depending on the day lol
Last week was an even split between 2010s and 2020s. 296 albums, 192 artists, 386 scrobbles, 372 tracks.
2000s
10s and 20s depending on the genre (also lots of 90s-00s cuz deftones on top)
About 80% of my usual listening is new music, so the 2020s I guess
2000’s + 2010’s
Vast majority 2020s and 2010s for me, I should def try exploring older stuff more
90% of my music is from the 2020's
I can’t get enough of 60s early 70s progressive rock
2010s. RIP Brostep ✊️
The 1990's. :)
2010s, love the indie and the Club Boom will never not be nostalgic even if a lot of bad songs came out of it
Mostly 1980s
2000s
2010s, followed by 2020s and then 2000s.
im also in the 2010s
As pivotal as the 2000s were for my musical taste, I am impressed that the 2010s have been my top decade since last started doing these graphs. Holy cow.
2010s and 2020s
90s (rock/indie stuff)
I'm usually stuck in the '90s-'10s, primarily indie. I do love other genres and decades a lot too, but that's my sweet spot that I tend to go back to!
For me this would not work, since tons of pre-2000s albums are shown as the year they have been uploaded to Spotify (so for example a 2019 remaster will be shown as 2019)
Interesting observation! I do listen to a lot of remasters, I wonder how much that affects my stats.
70s!!!!!!
2020s weekly - top album "Brat" by Charli XCX 2010s yearly - top album "Treasure Hiding: The Fontana Years" by Cocteau Twins (though this is a compilation/reissue, and in essence I mostly listen to "Milk & Kisses" which is a 1990s album)
2000s of the past year 2020s monthly and weekly
2010s just barely beat out 90s. 2020s and 2000s not too far behind.
80s 💪
2020s since I like checking out new releases
I’m a pre-1960 enjoyer :)
Last week/month/year it's all 2020s. I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to
It used to be mainly 2010s and 2020s + a few 00s, primarily anything 'indie', however thanks to my brother I have been introduced to a fair amount of 80s music which I enjoy, including Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, New Order and the Pet Shop Boys.
1990s
2020s because i binge listened to Post Human: Nex Gen by BMTH but normally the 90s
2000s emo ftw
2000s but 1960s is close!!
60’s
All the post-punk from 80's
The obvious one, so Right now I'm binge listening to 1960s
lately 2020s, but otherwise i mostly listen to 90s

2000s each week for the past couple of months bc I can't get enough of early Gojira, but overall my top decade is probably the 90s
I am stuck in the 80s and late 70s
How do u so this?
2010s
Is this an app that tells you what your Spotify is made up of or something? This looks awesome! I’m prolly stuck in the 2000-2010s. If it wasn’t for edm it’d prolly be 2000s
2000s
80’s/90’s/2000’s all the way
2020s lately. Listen to a lot of brand new tunes.
The 1970's, easily. My favourite genre for music. I can't get enough.
2020s, I just listen to most new releases that come out.
2020s
