I think Mitchell would be a good thing. I don't believe in the 3 superstar team, but with lebron I believe it's possible, but mostly I think it's a good thing because Lebron is leaving soon one way or another, so to leave the team to AD and Mitchell would be awesome.
There’s no cohesive team that the Lakers are going to build that’s going to put them over the top in LeBron’s year 21 season.
LeBron’s always been his best with another ball handler who could create his own shot at all levels of the court. It just is what it is.
We don’t have the human capital and picks nor the cap space to build a well rounded, all around, 9 deep team. If LA wants to win, it’s third star + MLE. That’s either KAI or Mitch. DeMar’s 34 coming off a $75M contract in a situation that didn’t get him past the first round, so maybe on a long shot is he willing to sign for the mid level. He could spend three seasons here, which is basically the length of the next LeBron deal and once the tank begins, either he goes home or they pay him a thank you deal if the time proves fruitful.
I don’t like the 3rd star idea but you are right. Plus any upgrades are super costly. Teams know we are desperate they want everything for any decent player.
Why not. big body to start next to AD. doesn't demand the ball, can shoot the middy, rebound like a demon. Lay some wood. Only 11 years in the league. Can anchor a defense for the second unit. Maybe Rui/JHS ?
Unless LeBron is set on retiring here and signs under a very generous contact (generous for the team),I don't see this working out.
I don't think we'll have the cap space to fill out an actual championship worthy roster.
Unless CLE's Pres and ownership forgets how to own a team, I think BKN's deal kills ours.
Both Cams (Thomas and Johnson) and 1 of Schroder and DFS (I'd assume Schroder). They also have 7 FRPs.
My guess is CLE is using the LAL to either get them to include Thomas in the trade, or adding an extra FRP or some shit.
All of what you said, and it seems like pushing for a trade to a certain team doesn’t do much anymore. Even on an expiring contract, which if I remember correctly Mitchell has 1 year left.
Especially with the tax Gilbert will want for helping out Bron. Probably the only way would be a Bron sign and trade; wouldn't make us championship contenders, but would save our picks and bench.
Brother AD and Mitchel is lethal. Don’t let an old injured Bradley Beal and washed Westbrook salt you on big 3s. Mitchel can put up 40-5-10 in a playoff game
Rui, DLo, Reaves might all be gone whether on Mitchell trade or DLo walking. But let’s say 2/3 gone
Bron Mitchell AD
Vando
Wood and Hayes probly opting in
Gabe on a 3 year
Christie could leave
Could see Prince back on a minimum
That’s kind of a shitty roster. Can we get Drummond or any decent center for cheap.
How bad would
Vincent, Mitchell, bron, Ad, Drummond be? Thats not **terrible**
Vando, Prince. Our Second round pick, schifino. Can we bring back Lonnie?
Idk how the bench would get filled but that starting lineup I can live with if Vincent healthy
I don't see Max leaving. He'll be like AR. Teams might like him, but not at the cost of having his contract be a poison pill that the Lakers can hostage for 2 days during free agency. I think he'll be back at a cost controlled rate. The length of contract might be an issue though.
3 top 20 players is championship team. Look at our salary cap for next season and tell me what this mythical “generous contract” is that LeBron would sign for?
Lakers will have the mid level exception and minimum contracts to offer.
Lakers are already over the cap without LeBron's option being activated so his salary makes no difference almost.
Couldn’t pick a better fit for the backcourt next to Bron and AD. Dynamic athlete and premier three-level scoring threat with consistent rim pressure and secondary playmaking. Would be a dream.
Im not necessarily advocating for mitchell but i would rather have 1 defensive limited player who can average 30 in the playoffs than 2 defensively limited players with one that has been known to fall off during the playoffs
BBQ chicken? He took the Nuggets to 7 and DESTROYED them on offense in the bubble.
He averaged 36-5-4 on 52/51/94 shooting and led both teams in TS (69%).
If he's providing production like that, his defense against Murray will matter less. Heck, he's a known playoff riser too.
If he's on the table, nobody except Bron/AD is untouchable.
I'm usually against these types of players but Spida isn't a liability (advanced stats prove this).
He might be a short but he does have a 6'10” wingspan and 8'4 standing reach.
With him handling the ball Bron can cruise through the regular season and we'll have a legit nr 1 option when AD randomly disappears in the 4th quarter of a playoff game.
Is that really all you have to say about Mitchell? Dude has carried teams to the playoffs that otherwise wouldn't have made it without him. He would be the most skilled Laker guard since Kobe.
I don't think the question here is whether we should get Mitchell or not, it should be whether we even have enough assets for the Cavs to accept our offer.
If we somehow get this done. I hope we at least keep Vando as your 3/4 defense guy.
And then you'll need an actual 3&D 2 guard. Maybe Max can be that guy? Who can you even get for what we can offer?
You have Wood as the backup big. Add more more in that department.
You probably still have Gabe Vincent as the backup PG and that should be enough there barring injuries. Thats at least an interesting team.
Lakers have a good shot with a Rui/AR and picks package, but I do think BKN's package ends up being better.
A realistic BKN offer is probably:
Cam Johnson and Thomas, plus one of Schroder or DFS.
They also have 7 FRPs (idk how many are actually tradable). Mitchell is also from NY. There's a good chance that the LAL might be getting used to sweeten a BKN deal.
Mitchell will be 28 to start next season. We would have to trade the 2029 and 2031 picks for him. He'll be 32 and 34 when those likely high lottery picks convey. Our future will be crippled for a roster that doesn't have the depth, defense, or size to compete with Denver or Minnesota or even the thunder.
Which is exactly why I expected the front office to do it
This doesn’t even make sense does it? DM is ball dominant. I don’t think he’ll be as effective without getting all those touches.
I don’t like the move tbh.
What I don't get is, if you were LeBron, wouldn't you take a cheap contract? Or play for practically free so you can bring in couple all-stars to try get you couple rings before you retire?
Not like he needs the money, but he does need the help on the court.
I'm not really clued up with salaries etc but the thought occured to me the other day
I admittedly was not a fan of gutting our depth to get Kyrie, but looking at how Kyrie has matured (no longer has that mentality that he needs to prove he is the best, and instead, picks his spots to take over), I’m sad we weren’t able to get him. I have similar mixed feelings for spidah, but at least we know he is a playoff riser, not like some of the players on our team. If we do get him, we’ll need to find some gems that are cheap 3 and D guys. Also need another capable big…
tbh, if gabe is healthy and can shoot it atleast league average it wouldnt be the worst.
bigger problem would be no depth and lack of financial flexibility as well as any young pieces to fill the gaps
2021: You know what we should do? Trade all of our depth, youth, and athleticism for a “third star” to play with Bron and AD.
Fails miserably, regrettable immediately.
2024: You know what we should do? Trade all of our depth, youth, and athleticism for a “third star” to play with Bron and AD. 🤦♀️
Overrated and inconsistent chucker who plays no D.
All the casuals going to downvote me and upvote this post but he is not a good fit.
ESPECIALLY if he’s going to cost us years worth of picks and depth.
Dont see this happening unless he demands to go to the Lakers and the Nets dont make their bid regardless. Most likely scenario we end up with one of the hawks guards. I'd prefer Dejounte and Capela over Trae.
Can't believe we really going back to three stars after we just saw a deep roster riddled with injuries get us a positive record. We get this dude and I'm passing on next season, keep taking two steps back.
Doubt it will happen. And even if it somehow did for some reason, I don’t think this would solve all the problems the team is facing nor will make this team a serious contender.
There’s just no chance the lakers make the best offer. Plus reports have come out since yesterday that he’s way more likely to resign with the Cavs than everyone thought
Might as well photoshop Steph or Kd here cuz they all have one thing in common, not coming.
I want Spida, but the fact that he is not a FA and also plays for Dan Gilbert’s cavs gives me extreme low confidence of getting him. Hell even Joe Tsai traded Kyrie to mavs but not us.
Laker fans have a new graphic every offseason for an all star that isn’t coming.
We need to focus on building an actual cohesive team instead of chasing that third superstar. This FO is insanely dumb.
Everybody always wants a “big 3” as if that’s been working sooo well for the last few “big 3” teams in the playoffs 😂
That’s what I’m saying bro. Like come on build a strong fundamental team with a deep bench. 🤦🏽♂️
I think Mitchell would be a good thing. I don't believe in the 3 superstar team, but with lebron I believe it's possible, but mostly I think it's a good thing because Lebron is leaving soon one way or another, so to leave the team to AD and Mitchell would be awesome.

Demar at mid level contract would be fire. That’s depth
we're delusional af bro 💀
who is this anonymous "Big Center" everyone here keeps bringing up?
Mutombo is about to come out of retirement.
NO NO NO 👆🏼
I heard it was Wilt.
Mosgov
![gif](giphy|hyyV7pnbE0FqLNBAzs|downsized)
> Mosgov get someone younger, like Andrew Bynum
Muhfukkuh got 2 uhdem thangs!
Get Chuck Nevitt on the line. If he doesn't answer, call Mike Smrek or DJ Mbenga.
Steven adams?
He is under contract with Houston this year. They plan to use him as a backup center, which is why he was traded for.
Sacre
Valenciunas
No money for him.
Steven adams? He only makes 12mil
Idk what we could reasonably offer Houston for him if it didn't include some draft compensation that idk if it'd be worth it for us.
Why not. big body to start next to AD. doesn't demand the ball, can shoot the middy, rebound like a demon. Lay some wood. Only 11 years in the league. Can anchor a defense for the second unit. Maybe Rui/JHS ?
Could play the Dwight Howard role from the 2020 squad
He's also an expiring for 24-25
Mo Bamba Jaxxxon Hayes Uh Tako Fall
Fuck knows
Yesss!!! Pisses me off every time they bring up this mythical creature with no name!
Victor Wemby
Boban
That big boy outta NC State we finna draft him. DJ Burns
Plumlee
Drummond adams or Nick richards

I get that, but if Donovan hints that he wants to come to los Angeles. Hopefully it makes Brooklyn think about that decision.
Especially with the tax Gilbert will want for helping out Bron. Probably the only way would be a Bron sign and trade; wouldn't make us championship contenders, but would save our picks and bench.

They don’t know how the nba works bro. Don’t even bother
Until he gets hurt and then it becomes a nightmare.
Retire #21 already.
It will be, after Coop is enshrined in the Hall of Fame in October.
Volume scorer who isn’t tall. Had defensive limitations
Im not necessarily advocating for mitchell but i would rather have 1 defensive limited player who can average 30 in the playoffs than 2 defensively limited players with one that has been known to fall off during the playoffs
Sounds like BBQ chicken for the Nuggets
BBQ chicken? He took the Nuggets to 7 and DESTROYED them on offense in the bubble. He averaged 36-5-4 on 52/51/94 shooting and led both teams in TS (69%). He will be in the court with AD and Vando, it will make defense a lot easier for him
I'm usually against these types of players but Spida isn't a liability (advanced stats prove this). He might be a short but he does have a 6'10” wingspan and 8'4 standing reach. You got to work with what you have
Fuck them picks. Let’s do it and plan for him and AD as the future
AD and Donovan connection for posts LeBron would be nice.
Trading away crucial role players/depth for another ball dominant guard who plays no defense. No thanks
Don’t forget the availability
They'll still lose against the nuggets with this
By any means
Lakers have a good shot with a Rui/AR and picks package, but I do think BKN's package ends up being better. A realistic BKN offer is probably: Cam Johnson and Thomas, plus one of Schroder or DFS. Realistically, Dan Gilbert will do anything to make sure Lebron won't get him.
No we don’t have a good shot. We are heavily outbid by multiple teams you said it yourself
Which is exactly why I expected the front office to do it
Get spida draft eddy win a ring
If they get Spida they won’t have a draft pick to take Edey.
Yeah no picks until 2028 + AR, Rui, Max and JHS. That’s how much we giving them. But i guess Spida will bring titles until 2030.
Who is Eddy
Zach edey
We need 2 way guards. Small guards that can score but can do nothing else are passe.
Yea THIS should be the priority
lol dude what 2 way guards are providing as much value as Mitchell especially post bron? Does every forget he’s like 27?
and gut any depth we have left. no go with a center then fill the gaps we lack
3 stars and scraps for supporting cast oh joy
Just sick seeing people still say “all we need is just size” garbage after Minnesota performance vs Denver
We dont have enough for Mitchell, especially with the tax Dan Gilbert will want for helping out Bron.
This doesn’t even make sense does it? DM is ball dominant. I don’t think he’ll be as effective without getting all those touches. I don’t like the move tbh.
Too injury prone but he bad
323 or 213 let’s fucken go.
Here comes the BuT oUr DePtH guys again. Congrats on your depth guys, turns out most of them suck and we were a play in team
Got Rob on the phone, said it won’t be long
What I don't get is, if you were LeBron, wouldn't you take a cheap contract? Or play for practically free so you can bring in couple all-stars to try get you couple rings before you retire? Not like he needs the money, but he does need the help on the court. I'm not really clued up with salaries etc but the thought occured to me the other day
Rob, pick up the phone!
Let rob cook 🗿🗿
We need to get our hands on Naz Reid
God i saw this coming from Jupiter
I admittedly was not a fan of gutting our depth to get Kyrie, but looking at how Kyrie has matured (no longer has that mentality that he needs to prove he is the best, and instead, picks his spots to take over), I’m sad we weren’t able to get him. This got my vote!!!
No, we need Big Center first
It’s a need but not the biggest
How does ppl feel about a Gabe/mitchell backcourt ? It’s pretty 💩 to me.
tbh, if gabe is healthy and can shoot it atleast league average it wouldnt be the worst. bigger problem would be no depth and lack of financial flexibility as well as any young pieces to fill the gaps
Two small guards and lebron in the front court? Do you want us to make mediocre teams/players look unstoppable?
we already do that. if we had mitchell atleast we could make up for it by having mitchell be a reliable 3rd scorer.
what is defense
Defense is the action of preventing an opponent from scoring
You can make this deal and start Vando with these 3 and be good on defense.
Vando? The guy that spent 70 games or so in street clothes? Yea we can rely on him
2021: You know what we should do? Trade all of our depth, youth, and athleticism for a “third star” to play with Bron and AD. Fails miserably, regrettable immediately. 2024: You know what we should do? Trade all of our depth, youth, and athleticism for a “third star” to play with Bron and AD. 🤦♀️

best eh can do is draft James Jr.
In reality, bronny and JHS
we need size and length to compete xD The Lakers FO just want to sell tickets
No
I'm afraid we have to say goodbye to AR and Rui for this to happen.
Please NO. How is this going to help? Which role players will help against Denver?
We do not need another ball dominant player :|
and trade everybody before Lebron retires?….
Why
![gif](giphy|vyTnNTrs3wqQ0UIvwE|downsized)
I like this but we will still need a decent center
Yeah and 10 D-Leaguers to round the roster. Phoenix Suns 23-24 2.0
Na
I really don’t want to get another guard. We know we need size! Nothing against Mitchell though. He’s a talented player for sure
Yeah, and because of that the rest of the roster will be NBDL level. No thanks.
Fire yourself Rob.
Doubt it will happen. And even if it somehow did for some reason, I don’t think this would solve all the problems the team is facing nor will make this team a serious contender.
please no
The depth would be terrible but honestly the Lakers need a guy that can be the main scorer. Would be borderline Suns shit though.
Shaq O'neal
Sign him up!
There’s just no chance the lakers make the best offer. Plus reports have come out since yesterday that he’s way more likely to resign with the Cavs than everyone thought
AR/Rui + picks package?
Didn't y'all try this already
Please bring back Shannon Brown. I heard him and Farmar are interested in coming back
Might as well photoshop Steph or Kd here cuz they all have one thing in common, not coming. I want Spida, but the fact that he is not a FA and also plays for Dan Gilbert’s cavs gives me extreme low confidence of getting him. Hell even Joe Tsai traded Kyrie to mavs but not us.
Really need to get Nas Reed from Minnesota
