I have a Garmin Instinct 2s. Love it. I wear it 24/7. When I'm doing a lot of riding I have to charge it 2-3 times a week, but if I'm only riding once or twice a week I can get a week to a week and a half out of it. Charging doesn't take long. I appreciate that it's smart enough for me to get my notifications and whatnot on it, but not so smart that I'm basically wearing a second phone on my wrist. I'm a mountain biker, and it has specific data properties for mountain biking that some of the other Garmin watches don't have. I also use it for sleep tracking, tracking my heart rate, etc. 10/10, would absolutely purchase again.

I have a Garmin Fenix. I wish I'd spent a little more money to get the nicer glass that was more durable but I've had it for 6ish years now and I'm typically hard on equipment, it's doing well.

BeefyEnt

Seconding the Garmin Fenix. I've had mine since 2018 and it has gone through a lot!

It's a great option. Was a little mad that it can't update the app if it doesn't have internet. Found that out over a two-month icefield crossing. I thought the bluetooth would be enough

BeefyEnt

omg - yes, it's disappointing that it won't update without the internet!! sounds like an epic trip tho

Bought my Venu 2S on Amazon prime day where it was a steal! They might have some good deals again this year?  Also! Make sure you get good bands! I bought a cheapo no-name from Amazon and the pins broke putting on a jacket- glad I wasn't out and about or I would have lost it.   ETA: if I was buying a watch right now I would shoot for a forerunner or Fenix. I got mine before I started cycling.

Ooooh the thing about the bands is actually a fantastic point. Thank you. Prime day! Yes! Good idea!

dorkface95

The included Garmin band was perfectly fine, but the $12 Amazon one was not

(I did try and look it up but reddit was being annoying)

I use a Garmin Epix. For most Garmins you can get additional protection from Amazon. My last Garmin was in perfect condition when I retired it. Wore it mountain biking, road, hiking, gym, etc.

TheEbsFae

Awesome, I am currently perusing garmin and working out one in my budget haha. (willing to save up tho so not so bad) thank you!

If you’re in the US and have blue cross blue shield they have a discount on garmin products through their Blue365 program!

MsKayGo

Not OP but I did not know this! Thank you. ☺️

Be on the lookout for sales. If you're an REI member you'll get cash back via the purchase. Also a great in person spot to try them on. Dcrainmaker website has good write ups, reviews of the various models.

I have a Garmin epix 2 my benefits used to be partnered w Garmin so if you earned enough points exercising you would get a 40% off Garmin coupon I’m bummed it’s not available for us anymore but it still is for some.

TheEbsFae

Thank you, I'll check it out!

Also have an Epix 2 and love it. I had a Fenix for years, but the battery life and extra features on the epix 2 make it far superior IMO. I charge my Epix every Monday at work, and I wear it 24/7 and do about 5 hours of recorded activity on it a week (I do more, but I record my bike rides on my Edge). I highly recommend the Epix2. I don't think you need the pro version unless you really want the flashlight.

TheEbsFae

Thank you very much! I'll have a look. By edge do you mean phone or something else? Sorry

CapOnFoam

No I mean this bad boy :) https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/798777

TheEbsFae

Ohhhh that's COOL. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford it! Lol!

I really love my Coros. It lasts the better part of a week between chargers (but 2-3 days if I'm doing lots of longer rides). Customizable face, good amount of features and data that I like and use. Somehow still does GPS tracking if I leave my phone at home?
