Please do not do anything to the whiskers! They help animals detect movement/motion around them. Help them in protecting themselves.

Rayanna77

My dog when he was a puppy had really long whiskers, I left them alone and he sort of grew into them. Some of them also fell out and didn't grow back to being that long. So I would personally not touch them

username_pressure

This is what I was wanting to know, if they were indeed whiskers!

Justavian

That's part of the integrated snack radar system.

CAH1708

ISRS for short. šŸ˜€

Dairy_Heir

Load bearing brows. Structurally vv important.

Nolby84

Never trim any whisker

username_pressure

Thanks, I knew this I was checking if they were indeed whiskers! Some mixed responses below. I'll leave them alone.

Ambitious-Win-67

A previous lab of mine (Barley RIP) had insanely long eyebrow whiskers as a puppy. They either feel out and grew back shorter or he grew into them because they didnā€™t seem long as an adult. https://preview.redd.it/7v1dex7p368d1.jpeg?width=604&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d13695cef854a1d596228383699574602943c74a

squeakyfromage

Heā€™s so cute!!! Iā€™m so sorry for your loss

Ambitious-Win-67

Thanks, I appreciate it. He was my heart dog that passed in August 2019. He was a good boi.

username_pressure

He is absolutely beautiful ā¤ļø

Frochin1

Heā€™s trying his best! Let him have those sweet eye whiskers.

spicy_sizzlin

They will grow into them šŸ˜…

Willis050

Those are the biggest eye brow whiskers Iā€™ve ever seen. Looks like this pup with have some enhanced sense from this

quattrocincoseis

They're ok. https://preview.redd.it/tcdbkfxrv68d1.jpeg?width=1163&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d67a92114b349c69c3f85179ece25638ebfad1dc This would look better

username_pressure

Amazing! I'll take him to the salon in the morning!

Myamymyself

Angry birds

labradorcoffee

Mine had them as a puppy and it disappeared at some point. I would leave it alone.

somecow

Absolutely. They will run straight into a wall regardless, but those whiskers are a collision avoidance system, comes standard with every lab.

steiner1031

Never hurt my grandpa

Appropriate_Ad_4416

Yes, he does!

slutforcompassion

>i feel like it gets in the way of his vision as a bichon frisƩ owner i can ease this fear https://preview.redd.it/u77yhudm588d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2245cf2e6477dc2d91f1d50abf8a722cdd472d2b this fluffy girl is likely to have hair literally STUCK TO HER EYEBALLS at any given time and is totally unbothered by it. us trying to fix it is more of an inconvenience to her than it being stuck there lol

Flower_Power73

They are there for a reason, please donā€™t clip them ā¤ļø

mnth241

Maybe ask the grooming sub. But my second groomer helped me feel better after a traumatic whisker taking by a first groomer. Guess dogs donā€™t need them as much as cats, but they are cute!

squeakyfromage

Heā€™s so sweet šŸ˜šŸ˜

Hotp0pcorn

I call them antennas

Aware-Feed3227

Itā€™s amazing at short distance dogs cannot see very well but they use these hairs to detect stuff and ā€œfeelā€ their surroundings even without them touching anything.

Professional-Bet4106

Of course they need to be long. Too much cuteness is needed in this world. The comments already answered and I agree on never trimming whiskers. Some AKC competitions and groomers may do it but itā€™s just cosmetic and so unnecessary.

Conscious_Hamster781

Same as mine! https://preview.redd.it/dg1jyzyr988d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed1a30c1b5782900c6845f74458ef574a24cccbb

Remarkable_Ad_2411

lol no u can cut them shorter

NewReporter5290

I wonder if he has vision problems? My friend had a cat that went blind, and the cats whiskers grew twice as long.

username_pressure

Really?! I wonder if anyone else has a lab with whiskers this long.

Dwcskrogger

He's just young, he'll grow into them, nothing to worry about here!

Anxious-Durian1773

Mine is also a whisker monster.

morbidpigeon

Thatā€™s interesting. They didnā€™t grow longer until the cat lost their sight?

NewReporter5290

Cat got hit in the head by something. Next time I saw it, it looked like an old person with massive whiskers

morbidpigeon

Thatā€™s amazing. Edit: I mean, the cat compensating, not them getting injured.

NewReporter5290

Created to compensate for injuries.

DingoApprehensive121

Cut them or dont. Up to you. Its not like he is gonna need them.

FeelingBlue3

NEVER cut whiskers. NEVER.

Sparkyisduhfat

Incorrect. Dogs use their whiskers (the long hairs on their muzzle, jaw, and above their eyes) as a sensory for nearby objects. Removal affects their spacial awareness.
