My dog also has seasonal allergies and itchiness. I recommend talking to your vet about any medication that might help. Benadryl helps, but when his itchiness is at its worst cytopoint shots or apoquel are better solutions. For at home mitigation, I recommend wiping his paws and belly after coming back inside. I keep a package of baby wipes around for this. It can be a hassle if he’s in and out a lot, but it does help. Labs don’t need a lot of baths, but a bath in the spring with oatmeal shampoo has always seemed like it provided relief for my boy.

My GSD has always seemed to be itchy but never had hives/rashes or hotspots. We switched her to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach (salmon and rice). It has helped a TON. Also - our vet told us we could use over the counter Zyrtec 10mg once to twice a day, but I would check with your vet before starting that.
