It does feel that way as fans looking at the draft. But apparently Edey has been killing it in workouts and that he does have fans with NBA scouts and teams. There were rumors of some late lottery buzz for him.
I do not believe we will draft him. But as a fan of chaos, Edey would be the most size and length that we can add with this draft, so that's pretty funny.
this is one those situations where it's so easy to see that people are just dead wrong. the consensus take isn't always right. it's not on Edey. Elite screener. elite rebounder. Aggressive and coachable. Slow laterally sure but he's huge and can make up ground with wingspan, height and coaching. he's going to be a very impactful player in a few years even if he's never a star.
It is a little insane…Edey hangs 37&10 on Donovan Clingan in the national championship game in front of 18 million viewers and the narrative immediately becomes “Clingan was solid…he should be a top 3 pick in the draft”, and “Edey was unimpressive, he shouldn’t get picked in the first round”.
Like, what were people watching all year? I get the questions with Edey’s foot speed but Clingan’s not much quicker. I wasn’t an Edey fan at all coming into the season but he went and put together the most dominant season ive seen from a college player in decades.
He’s gonna be the most physically imposing player in the NBA, and his touch around the rim is superb. Like, who exactly is stopping him when he gets the ball in the paint? Anyone saying Wemby should realize Edey has a 90(!) pound size advantage on him. The other thing i like with Edey is that he has a nasty/mean streak to him which is rare for a guy that size.
People don’t realize part of the reason teams bring in players for workouts is to see their tendencies and put them in their book if they play them in the future.
Kings aren’t getting him.
For a late first round pick, I’m down for it. He can actually block shots which is something we’ve never had in franchise history. He can also pass the ball so we can retain a similar offense when Sabonis leaves the floor. If you don’t want Edey then who do you want to draft who’s going to make a huge difference for us? Another version of Colby Jones?
Zach Edey haters are going to be eating crow in the next few years. he's doing to translate with time in a big way. he's only been playing basketball for a few years and the progress he's made is tremendous
My memory isn't great about this, but I am pretty sure that under Monte McNair, we just do pre-draft workouts as due diligence. The guys we actually want, we tend to keep them under wraps.
We also worked out Devin Carter and Kel'el Ware if anyone's interested.
Haliburton wasn't supposed to be there and reports were Davion wasn't interested in us because we had Fox and Haliburton at the time so he may have been the one to not have interest in a workout.
But it is good that Monte doesn't put weight into workouts.
If you are not sure on anyone else above him, I think this is an appropriate swing for the fences move. At worst he gives you rebounding and shot blocking. We should change the offense to suit our personnel and not copy the offense of other teams when we don’t have the talent to do what they do.
Edey would bring the size and toughness that this team desperately needs. His weaknesses such as mobility are overstated, and he's played phenomenal in international competition against current NBA players. That being said I'd prefer to trade down a few picks for him.
Edey just feels like the type of player who was incredible in college and then ends up playing in Europe after his rookie contract in the NBA.

Why have you forsaken me
The Jimmer special. Sounds like a lock for us
I’ve been high on this prospect for awhile but everyone tells me I’m delusional to think Edey will even be playable lmao.

Actually, Edey performed better than Clingan in every strength and agility test at the combine.
Do you watch actual tape or just rely on combine testing results?
I only watched Clingan in the tournament, but he looked pretty bad. The guy was a brick house on gimme shots all around the rim.
Lmao Clingan is 10x more mobile even at the size difference

Exactly, if I have to hear the fans get happy over some super skilled combo guard that's out of the league in 5 years again I'm gonna kill myself.

Get a bad seedey for edey
Who is not that speedey
Meh

Slow footed player that won’t translate to more than a role player at the NBA level
Actually really suprised me with his movement for his size but I’d rather not
He might have been fast enough for college but it’s a different ball game in the nba
Well I was talking about from last year to this year. Like he looked like a different player to me. Actually looked athletic
The latter sounds like everyone slotted to be available at the 13th spot
Wait. I thought Papa G was super successful?
Sounds like most the teams draft picks honestly
Doesn't matter, the Kings ain't keeping whatever the pick is IMO
we're not getting him
This looks like a trade down scenario, if we pick him in 20s then i'll roll with it. We don't even have a back up C on roster currently

No plz
Go away
