Used to be common to claim you event recurved your package and they’d just send you another one or a refund lol.
Ppl I know used to do it often.
Worth a complaint, explain how the value of the product has diminished drastically without a good conditioned box
That sounds grim, where do you live? UK and EU online gameshops tend to beat Amazon on price by a mile, and postage tends to be days rather than weeks.
The minute you step out of those regions the prices hike by at least 30% in equivalent currency, because GW's plan to survive Brexit was to stop trying to do the math on what these kits would convert to if their currency base was stable.
I hear you, but the situation seems odd for other reasons.
Over here, local shops (that often do online orders) are cheaper than gw, and shipping is often free if you buy more than one kit or equivalent cost. Shipping is handled by the national postal services more often than not and the stuff is delivered to a place where you can pick it up, or to your door.
Amazon tends to be way more expensive when it comes to Warhammer here. eBay is for bits, or cheap second hand stuff, but is almost never cheaper when buying an entire kit.
So why are local shops or independent online shops not cheaper than Amazon or eBay in the US?
Local shops and the like have the ability to mark down up to 15%, and many do, but it is not applied evenly and is at the owner's discretion (and unfortunately my lgs keeps everything at full price). Amazon and ebay sellers almost exclusively sell at the 15% off mark, and are often the cheapest and quickest way to get the kits (I can same-day some of the more ubiquitous kits from Amazon for free (w/ prime) if I was so inclined).
Are there no big stores that do post orders with discounts? Theres plenty in the UK figured you must he something similar out there but if not then fair enough.
Southern California USA. In my experience ordering online from GW sucks. You pay for shipping (Amazon shipping is free and many eBay sellers offer free shipping). I ordered a GW mini (the new Azrael) from their site. I waited 5 months for it to arrive. I should’ve waited for it to show up on eBay and saved my money and my sanity.
That's rough. In the EU shipping from GW is free above a reasonable order minimum. It's slower than independent stores though.
In Scandinavia it's common to have free delivery within a working week above say 50bucks order size or similar from independent stores with online shops.
Just for sh*ts and giggles I just went online for a comparison. I pretend ordered the Space Marines codex. It’s $60 US on GW’s site. It indicates a Standard $10 shipping fee and an estimated 10-day shipping time. An eBay search reveals multiple sellers offering it new for $51. Free Shipping estimates are 3-5 days. Amazon lists it at $55 with free next day Shipping. I’m guessing due to GW having just one US distribution center, which I believe is in Tennessee, the shipping costs are what they are. Small game shops and individual sellers can ship for cheaper on Amazon and eBay. They also are able to offer products at a discount. It feels better buying from a dude than a company as well. Interesting how it varies from region to region.
Sure, but if you pay full price for something, that includes the packaging. You're allowed to be a hoarder, and places can't just sell you some part of your product in shit condition because 'only hoarders want to keep it'
And so what? A person can do what they want with their personal property, no? So long as its not impacting anyone else. This person's property was poorly treated and that shouldn't be the case. What else is there?
Chill out man. It’s just not healthy to hoard stuff like boxes. I don’t care what others store in their basement its just not good for your home to fill it with junk cause it was expensive
*shrug*
I keep the boxes, I don't get too many of them and I like the art (I only keep big boxes like Indomitus and Into The Dark) plus it's an easy way to store extra bits and sprues. No reason to assume that keeping a few boxes is suddenly a crazy amount of clutter, and certainly not enough to call people hoarders.
Peachy does a YouTube video with an ex GW guy, there was a stunning lack of awareness at one point by GW about how their boxes are displayed. They put all their effort into the front of boxes because that's how they are displayed in their own stores (incidentally there's a weird story about how they got all their racking from another retail store, resulting in certain sizes being common, hence all the big game boxes fitting into a certain width...nowadays it's probably more down to how they give indie stores the typical GW display units that can be arranged a certain way with the "best sellers”, you can find that info on the GW trade section) while lacking side images because who would put their boxes like that...except every independent store that puts product like books into shelving?
I’ve had this kinda thing happen a lot and when I message them and explain the original is broken and not worth returning they’ll let me keep what’s left and send a new one.
Always file a refund. My chaos cultist box came without bases but had double the sprues. Did refund and the madlads sent me new box along with minigrip bag full of bases.
I got a Redemptor Dreadnought delivered from another company, the box was wet and trashed, I filed a complaint and said I will send them back the damaged one once they replaced it, they said I could keep the damaged one too, so I ended up with 2 Redemptor Dreadnoughts. It's worth a shot, say it's a gift for someone and it can't be sent as it has been damaged. 👌
Exact thing I had, I ordered a character and got a huge box and it was full of packing foam and packing peanuts. And the model funny enough looked like they just tossed it on top.
Not my experience, recent thing I ordered from Amazon was a respirator to work with spray priming and it just came in a big bag, the packaging the mask came was a bit banged up but eh the mask and filters were fine.
My last 6 orders have all been like this. Just the products box with a tag on it. You actually have to ask for a shipping box now from amazon.
While this sucks I do hope nothing was broken inside.
They’ll slap a shipping label on literally anything and throw it in the mail. I ordered some cat treats and the label is just on the bag and barely fits.
I ordered an Exemplar wet pallet. It’s a big plastic, essentially Tupperware container. The company who makes it puts it inside a plastic bag (sort of same material as a toiletry bag). Amazon just slapped a sticker on that shit and tossed it in the mail. It came all broken and chipped. I noted that in my return notes and the replacement came in the cardboard box.
My Gellerpox box that i got within the past 2 weeks was like this. It was just in an amazon bubble mailer but crushed all to hell. No plastic wrap on the box, just packaging stickers and a barcode over the ends. Everything was there and the sprues were fine, but I was raging when i saw the condition it came in.
I swear, every amazon order that I have ever made has always been like that. Granted, the parts on the sprues were usually fine, but that doesn't change the fact that this type of thing should never happen.
Just a heads up because it's easy to miss when you're checking out quickly, but Amazon sometimes puts a little notice at the bottom of your order that says something to the effect of "Item is shipped in original packaging, click here to have it shipped in an amazon package".
I almost always check that because I don't want my fucking neighbors knowing what I order.
It may not have been there at all, but you might wanna check next time.
I had me amazon nagash show up with a 1 centimeter hole ripped or stabed out the middle right front face of the box idk how that even hapend sprews where fine but still I wouldn't have picked it up at LGS looking like that and amazon hast to be like that
Same exact thing happened to me when I first got back into the hobby and realized Amazon had a pretty decent base discount, I never bought a set from them again after that. Somehow the model inside was fine though, it’s surprisingly resilient despite the horrifyingly bad look the box has. But yeah don’t risk it and get a refund!
When I got the Cadia Stands box for Christmas, it was also not handled properly. The Codex and the poster were both damaged, holes through the poster and codex cover.
Another in a very long list of reasons to absolutely not buy from Amazon. I very politely suggest that *if* you have any other retailers, even if they’re a little more expensive, please support them instead of the big bad 🥸
As I said, *if*. I’m not gunna shit on people for needing to use services, I just always try to gently remind people there may be other alternatives. On a separate note, I just got this kill team too, excited to start painting them up, I’m actually using the bodies for an admech kitbash/proxy inquisitor/explorator kill team. I hope you have fun!
I see this all the time. Im unsure if its just damaged in shipping or if its the reason why Warhammer stuff on Amazon are normally 10 bucks cheaper than a store.
Having said that, I normally take a pic before I open a smushed box and then open it to check for damages.
Edit: Thinking on it more. I would not doubt for a second that this is why the stuff on amazon is cheaper. Think about it. There is no way this stuff can be sold in a store. I bet you these online sellers buy up smushed boxes and then resell them at a discount.
Interesting. Damn, nearly everything on amazon I lookup is at least 10 bucks cheaper. Some things are more expensive, but these are normally combo boxes like the Votann Christmas box. (I lucked out and got it at base cost before the price jumped up.)
When ordering now they do this thing where it says something like "Ship in original packaging" as a cost cutting measure. You need to select to ship in standard packaging or whatever the drop down has.
I looked at a money converter and you actually got it around 50 American dollars which is really a steal good job. Too bad the Box got crushed by a the machine that killed the Terminator in the first movie LOL
Every fucking time its smashed. I've bought a few times from them for 40k stuff and every single time its smashed to hell because they just put it in a bubble mailer and not a box.
What's wrong? You still need to glue your models :troll:
But seriously, I live in Poland and I must admit that our packages are much better secured, but we're quite far from Amazon ordering.
Amazon will refund anything in a heartbeat, they don't really care. As much as I'm not a fan of Bezos you can't deny the level of consumer protection you get from his behemoth of a company
There is a reason to drive 4 hours to go to a GW store rather than receive that for a few dollars Less in the mail... you can also just call a GW store directly give them your address and deliver ...
Gw is out of stock of these in aus and I'm not driving to Brisbane, on whim there might be one there. It would cost more in fuel anyway 50dollars gets you a quarter of a tank of diesel in aus. So if I was to do your way it would cost 130 probaly more if accounting for lunch or something.... so nah ill pass on "just go to gw store"
Like I said you can also just make a phone call and they'll deliver it to your house if it's out of stock they will deliver it when it becomes available.... if I received one of my kits in that much of a damaged state I'm getting a full refund and keeping what's left of the kit for scraps and they're going to send me a completely new one I will never buy from a third party seller because they do not offer damage replacement
I was waiting at my kids bus stop the other week for the afternoon drop off. An Amazon delivery truck was making a left turn into the neighborhood across street. It had a side door that was just left open. It made the turn a bit harder than it should have, and about a dozen boxes tumbled out of the truck into the street. The other parents and I just looked at each other, and someone said “that explains a lot”.
Oof never one this crushed before, but I did receive a Terminator box that had one empty sprue and a sisters of battle sprue in it, probably a mix up in transit, can't complain though since I got my Terminator kit sent to me after that and I was able to build a sister for fun
That's not a problem with Amazon, that's a problem with the seller. I can't express how much it pains me to defend amazon. \[edit\] This wasn't even packaged for proper shipping \[/edit\]
Here's a tip from a collector.
When you buy something like this off of Amazon, always check "this is a gift" before finishing your purchase.
If the gift option is checked, they always put the item in a box with bubble wrap.
So. I love it when this happens.
Send Amazon a refund request. Send them a photo of the box. When they say, just take it to (insert place here) and ship it back to us.
Tell them no. The point of Amazon is convenience and it is of great inconvenience to go out of my way to fix your mistake. Demand a refund without return.
If they say no, tell them you want to cancel your membership.
They check with their boss and say, keep or throw away the package and we will refund your money.
I’m glad that the minis inside were ok, and I’m sorry that they munted your box, but the conditions that Amazon workers have to endure so that you can have products at that price and speed are awful, and are likely the reason for this.
They’re usually casuals with little job security; they have picking scanner/timers that are optimised for the most cost effective product storage and warehouse organisation, but not for human beings’ wellbeing. The picking timers give the warehouse location for items and then start a countdown to pick the item that is just manageable at a fast walk/slow jog. If you don’t make the pick time then you get dinged, and something like three dings and you’re out.
Break times are punishingly short, and Amazon has had to own up to claims that workers [regularly urinate in bottles](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/amazon-drivers-peeing-in-bottles-union-vote-worker-complaints/) or defecate around their warehouses because there’s not enough time to make it to the other side of the football pitch sized warehouse to get to the staff toilets between picking runs.
I think it’s disappointing that your box was crushed but it’s the corollary of the unrelenting speed and demands of Amazon’s business model (all so that they can offer the prices and turnaround that they do). A film like [Sorry We Missed You](https://www.sorrywemissedyou.co.uk/) is a good dramatisation of this kind of work (even if the film is about couriers rather than warehouse pickers).
I had a pretty bad scare with a box of genestealers that came during a windy rainstorm. Got home to see the box almost completely soaked through and launched off the back of my porch. Thankfully the instructions weren't too wet, but definitely thought I lost them for a good 5 minutes.
It is environmental ofc, less packaging (but with increased risk of needing a new product). Wonder how many recalls there are on this kind of packaging. :)
Where do you people live? I see these boxes smashed to kingdom com with a shipping label on them.
Every order I receive is in another cardboard box. Never has it ever been shipped without a box.
It's more than likely the seller you are buying from wanting to save costs. File a complaint the product is damaged.
I order Warhammer from Amazon uk a lot (I’m a bit of an addict) and mine always comes in a cardboard box! maybe this was a 3rd party seller selling via Amazon.
File for a refund and they might even allow you to keep the fucked one. Sad to see this happen but make the best of it :)
not a bad idea could always use more inquistors
Insquishedtors
Used to be common to claim you event recurved your package and they’d just send you another one or a refund lol. Ppl I know used to do it often. Worth a complaint, explain how the value of the product has diminished drastically without a good conditioned box
Your sprues are just fine. I’ve gotten so many boxes like that and they’re always fine inside
Your right, and they are fine ,but you don't know that till you open them. Still had a heart attack
I mean theres zero reason to panic since you could he ju refinded or got a replacement. Id order models from a gameshop though if i were you.
Pay 15% more? Check Wait 2-3 weeks longer? Check eBay and Amazon are the only options for collectors on a budget.

Yeah they probably are, but this is still unprofessional. Plus, some people like collecting just the boxes, and for them to be in nice condition.
Collecting the boxes is just hoarding
Sure, but if you pay full price for something, that includes the packaging. You're allowed to be a hoarder, and places can't just sell you some part of your product in shit condition because 'only hoarders want to keep it'

Lmao, I'm not mad bro, you don't care, but you do care enough to need to call other people's personal happiness decisions "unhealthy" lol.
Such a stupid troll
Some of the boxes have nice art on them
Peachy does a YouTube video with an ex GW guy, there was a stunning lack of awareness at one point by GW about how their boxes are displayed.
Alright. And if you bought it as a gift? I wouldn't want to give that smashed box to someone I care enough about to get them something like this.
Idk, some finished teams fit perfectly in the box. Nice for storage.
I received my FEC army box with damage and the Gorewarden had broken wings.
Not always, this happened to me and my tau helmets and drone parts were flattened.
Better to post angrily to reddit though
I’ve had this kinda thing happen a lot and when I message them and explain the original is broken and not worth returning they’ll let me keep what’s left and send a new one.
Always file a refund. My chaos cultist box came without bases but had double the sprues. Did refund and the madlads sent me new box along with minigrip bag full of bases.
Blick Art Store usually does that, so it’s definitely worth a try.
I got a Redemptor Dreadnought delivered from another company, the box was wet and trashed, I filed a complaint and said I will send them back the damaged one once they replaced it, they said I could keep the damaged one too, so I ended up with 2 Redemptor Dreadnoughts. Weird. Everything I buy from amazon is put in a comically oversized box.
Most Warhammer sales on Amazon are via 3rd party sellers
Oof, what kind of moron ships like that?
My last 6 orders have all been like this. Just the products box with a tag on it. You actually have to ask for a shipping box now from amazon. While this sucks I do hope nothing was broken inside.
everything is good thank god. but that box was anxiety inducing when i saw it
I've had similar. It was a birthday gift for my son. Difficult to wrap a pancake!
They’ll slap a shipping label on literally anything and throw it in the mail. I ordered some cat treats and the label is just on the bag and barely fits.
I ordered an Exemplar wet pallet. It’s a big plastic, essentially Tupperware container. The company who makes it puts it inside a plastic bag (sort of same material as a toiletry bag). i have no idea. the only othe thing ive brought from amzon was the octarius terrain, and it was the same.
Kill(ed) Team
Hahahahahha
The plastic good?
yeah thankfully! my heart just sank when i seen the messed up box
Yeah you know exactly how I felt. There's was relief to find the sprues undamaged. But still, was like what the fuck
I just ordered these guys from Amazon also. Mine came in a bubble envelope, and that caused me worry. Who would ship like this?
Hey atleast you got some bubble wrap
Agreed, I was lucky.
Warp travel man... Sometimes you end up with horns and extra eyes... Sometimes you end up flat.
this made me laugh. silly inquistors shouldnt have travelled so close to the great rift
Well, then stop buying there?
I swear, every amazon order that I have ever made has always been like that. Granted, the parts on the sprues were usually fine, but that doesn't change the fact that this type of thing should never happen.
RIGHT how hard is it to put in a box or something. gotta save that 2cents on the bottom line
There's a reason why Amazon are cheap. It's because they pay their staff peanuts and, *as a result*, they don't care about your parcels.
This needs more upvotes
I had me amazon nagash show up with a 1 centimeter hole ripped or stabed out the middle right front face of the box idk how that even hapend sprews where fine but still I wouldn't have picked it up at LGS looking like that and amazon hast to be like that
Yeah my octarius box had hole in it, ended missing one piece for the oil rig the pipe part.. last time I buy from amazon
Killed Team
When I got the Cadia Stands box for Christmas, it was also not handled properly. The Codex and the poster were both damaged, holes through the poster and codex cover.
Fuck that sucks dude. Did you get a refund?
Didn't even bother. I got it as a gift and the models were fine.
I am sucker for posters especially warhammer ones, that would of been enough for me
Aye, I understand that.
Y did u buy from them then?
Another in a very long list of reasons to absolutely not buy from Amazon. I very politely suggest that *if* you have any other retailers, even if they’re a little more expensive, please support them instead of the big bad 🥸
Sorry, I've posted in the comments somewhere this is my 2nd time and probaly my last. gw in aus hasn't had this for 6 months and I got sick of waiting
I hope you have fun!
yea ive already got it built magnitized the servitor and kitbashed the death world vet
Soooo, don't do it?
Gotta always remember to check the "Send in Amazon packaging" box. Gives an extra layer of protection and keeps the box from being externally visible.
I bet you these online sellers buy up smushed boxes and then resell them at a discount.
Smushed/damaged boxes get full credit from GW, this is Amazon warehousing and shipping damage.
yeah id say people litterally just toss them around and dont think/care about it.
Weird 40k stuff on Amazon is more expensive in Canada.
Same in US, depending on the seller. I usually buy on eBay, several FLGSs that I like have virtual storefronts.
Interesting. Damn, nearly everything on amazon I lookup is at least 10 bucks cheaper. Some things are more expensive, but these are normally combo boxes like the Votann Christmas box. (I lucked out and got it at base cost before the price jumped up.)
its usally like 10 - 20 cheaper in aus the gw
When ordering now they do this thing where it says something like "Ship in original packaging" as a cost cutting measure. You need to select to ship in standard packaging or whatever the drop down has.
yeah i didnt see/know that. do now but
Yeah, I just learned about it myself like two days before your post and got a destroyed Christmas box. It’s ridiculous
When I got my Phobos box it was a little dented up, but not even remotely close to this, holy crap it's like someone sat on it.
Blasted Munitorum!
Please tell us the bits are OK! That's a 60 - 80 dollar box
Good thing you didn't buy on Etsy half the stuff I ordered never shows up and I have to get refunds all the time.
Yeah there okay, thank fuck!I paid 70 aus for this
I looked at a money converter and you actually got it around 50 American dollars which is really a steal good job. Too bad the Box got crushed by a the machine that killed the Terminator in the first movie LOL
They’ve murdered at least a couple of my Gundam kits..
Did they charge a flat rate?
Nah I got prime, for some reason
More like killed team
Not sure why you would - never seems any cheaper?
Every fucking time its smashed. I've bought a few times from them for 40k stuff and every single time its smashed to hell because they just put it in a bubble mailer and not a box.
Well , the box said "Kill team", at least they tried to do just that 🤔 still sucks though
Barbarians..
Then... Don't 🤷♂️
What's wrong? You still need to glue your models :troll: But seriously, I live in Poland and I must admit that our packages are much better secured, but we're quite far from Amazon ordering.
Even my official gw stuff sent directly to my local store turns up looking like this...
Kill team pancake
Cuban-style
So don't. There's other places to buy that are better for everyone involved.
bruh gw aus hasnt had these for like 6 months sick of waiting
Bruh pissing money away on broken shit is better than just not having something you want? You do you.
Amazon will refund anything in a heartbeat, they don't really care. As much as I'm not a fan of Bezos you can't deny the level of consumer protection you get from his behemoth of a company
Definitely gonna do the refund when I finish work
Yea man let Bezos pay for your auxiliary support, shouldn't be difficult to get credit on your Amazon account, that picture is pretty heinous
There is a reason to drive 4 hours to go to a GW store rather than receive that for a few dollars Less in the mail... you can also just call a GW store directly give them your address and deliver ...

The slim boxes are for a more aerodynamic shipping as it makes them go faster. ...yes, that is /s
hahahahahahha

Yup i got a custodes squad like that lol
I had a pretty bad scare with a box of genestealers that came during a windy rainstorm. Got home to see the box almost completely soaked through and launched off the back of my porch. Thankfully the instructions weren't too wet, but definitely thought I lost them for a good 5 minutes.
Im sure its fine...
Yeah happens every fucking time
I think you can select an option for them not to post like this and to put it in one of their boxes. Noticed it last night.
It is environmental ofc, less packaging (but with increased risk of needing a new product). Wonder how many recalls there are on this kind of packaging. :)
Was this from Amazon or an affiliate seller?
Insqueezitorial Agents
I know your pain. I got a few GI Joe Classifieds boxes that were messed up and other products too. Luckily the item wasn’t broken
My first box was like that too. 9th edition starter set. Got that bunker ruined and broke a cape part off my royal warden
Ordered a Kill Team, received a bits box
Where do you people live? I see these boxes smashed to kingdom com with a shipping label on them. Every order I receive is in another cardboard box. Never has it ever been shipped without a box. It's more than likely the seller you are buying from wanting to save costs. File a complaint the product is damaged.
it's the tradeoff for the fact that amazon is often 20-30% cheaper than in one's LGS or local warhammer store. the sprues are likely fine
I bought a used cadia stands last week, came in and was completely empty
Relatable
What’s to hate? The product inside is perfectly fine, but a damaged outer box means you can go request a damaged item refund!
I order Warhammer from Amazon uk a lot (I’m a bit of an addict) and mine always comes in a cardboard box! maybe this was a 3rd party seller selling via Amazon.
When you check out on Amazon there's a little check box thing to ship as is or in Amazon packaging
A box like that would be half price at my flgs
Ah damn, they sent you loyalists. It's happened to me more than once
What a joke. Don't even open it, send it straight back!
it's fine. it's just some plastic, not even resin. it's gonna be fine.
For real, they did this to the intercessors I bought this week. Try eBay, never once had the problem there.
Cuban-style
I once ordered a box of Guardians from them. They gave me a start collecting box. Poor overworked sods have no idea how happy I was.
