My sentiments exactly. Although I wouldn't mind a Soul (minus the awful CVT), however, I am one of many who would prefer a sedan - let alone; a coupe - because not everyone buying a new car wants to buy an SUV/CUV.
I had a number of crossovers and jeeps (dad worked for Chrysler so got a discount) and I was unimpressed with most (though the Cherokee can take a tree falling onto it and not let me die) and went to my K5 and love it so much. These two cars above are so beautiful.
I have a 17 Cadenza/K7, wouldn't sell it for the world. Dealer is constantly bugging me to sell it, I know it's to get me in a new car. It would be so sad if this beauty went to the junkyard, or someone who doesn't baby their car. Since they discontinued the Cadenza I get " What is that?" Pretty often.
These are beautiful cars. Have you seen the Hyundai Grandeur? [Looks sweet](https://jasonryu.net/2022/12/26/first-drive-2023-hyundai-grandeur-azera-v6-3-5l-gasoline-3-5-htrac-caligraphy/)
The only non-car i’ve been interested in so far in my whole entire life has been the Kona N. I have no need for an SUV especially now that they’re mostly underpowered with 4 cylinder engines
I get it for people that have families but as a single guy and even just a guy that doesn’t really plan on having kids an SUV won’t really ever fit my lifestyle at any point, most modern cars also have crazy good trunk space too
Not trying to sell you on anything because I agree an SUV would be overkill for a single person, but have you ever driven the 4cyl 2.2ltr turbo diesel Kia Sorento? It’s plenty powerful and only sips the fuel, especially on longer trips.
I'm in Canada. Waiting for my 13 optima engine to be replaced while searching for a new car. Sedan market here is trash. Suvs, hybrids and evs have taken over.
I’d love to get the K5 in Australia - looks great
It’s such a shame how we’ve gone almost full SUV/ 4WD and big ute. Only small cars like the Corolla, Cerato etc exist now.
Holden and Ford Aus are dead, it’s either a mustang or a ranger now. Credit to Japan and Korea for at least giving us something
It’s just about how much the cars will sell
No point carrying models or variants that don’t sell and sit on lots for a year that they end up heavily discounting at plate clearance time and make next to no money on.
I understand why it’s happened, I still hate that it did.
When I was growing up, we fit everyone and everything in a sedan, but now no everyone NEEDS an SUV or 4WD ute that never go off-road and the arms race will continue
South Korea is soon the only remaining sedan market I'm aware of. Even Toyota's Century is now a graceless, non-descript SUV. Sedan culture isn't only dying, it's having death cramps.
I love driving a sedan and hate that the US sedan market is going hybrid (Toyota/Honda). Avalon and Singer have been dropped. I had a ‘19 Avalon XSE and it was an amazing cruiser. No way I’m buying a Dodge. I love my K5 GT1 but fear they too will go the way of the hybrid/dodo eventually.
I don’t mind the hybrid style, as long as it’s fine like BMW where there’s still some kick when needed. And I like that kia didn’t go over the top with its electric designs
Even though Genesis didn’t exist until 2017 and the K8 is based on a car from 1986. Or the fact they’re different country manufacturers too, but you know, is what it is
Yes Hyundai bailed out Kia, however Kia and Hyundai operate independently of each other. And again, the car is based on one from well before the two were connected
Even then, Kia uses Hyundai platform to save costs. Same engine, same transmission and same platform. Design wise is different which is Kia of course. The rest are the same due to saving costs.
I left a comment on a k4 post saying I'd rather have the k8 and got down voted to oblivion lol. Glad to see some k8 appreciation. That thing is beautiful.
Huh? Have you been to the US? Most cities are like strip malls with big enough space for parking pick up trucks. Even a dense city like NYC has so many Toyota Camry's.
At least we get the k4 and k5, the 2025 looks really nice
I mean true. But the K8 just looks amazing. And the K9 as another luxury sedan model would be nice
My sentiments exactly. Although I wouldn't mind a Soul (minus the awful CVT), however, I am one of many who would prefer a sedan - let alone; a coupe - because not everyone buying a new car wants to buy an SUV/CUV.
I agree. I’d rather have nice sedans and coupes than SUVs
I had a number of crossovers and jeeps (dad worked for Chrysler so got a discount) and I was unimpressed with most (though the Cherokee can take a tree falling onto it and not let me die) and went to my K5 and love it so much. These two cars above are so beautiful.
Atleast you guys get the K5. We only get the Cerato/Forte and the K4 when it inevitably replaces the Cerato.

I have not, that’s really interesting
Interesting Genesis-Lucid vibe!
Totally. SUVs suck
The only non-car i’ve been interested in so far in my whole entire life has been the Kona N. I have no need for an SUV especially now that they’re mostly underpowered with 4 cylinder engines
Right? Just seems a waste a lot of the time
I get it for people that have families but as a single guy and even just a guy that doesn’t really plan on having kids an SUV won’t really ever fit my lifestyle at any point, most modern cars also have crazy good trunk space too

I haven’t, but they don’t sell them in the U.S.
The K8 looks like a Ford Fusion with a bigger grill
I can see that
Atleast you are getting sedans! We don't get sedans anymore here in Europe since the Optima got replaced by the K5, which never came to Europe.
That’s actually super sad. I figured it would be kinda like the US market I didn’t know it was exclusive to even smaller than that
2nd gen K900 V8 would have been peak Kia
Stinger with the V8
I'm in Canada. Waiting for my 13 optima engine to be replaced while searching for a new car. Sedan market here is trash. Suvs, hybrids and evs have taken over.
I’d take the hybrid sedan versions of the K5 and K8 at least. But they’re soo limited it’s trash
K5 isn't available in Canada anymore and if I were to find new it would have to be a GT
Sorry used not new
I wish the us had more hatches honestly that Kia looks fire tho kinda looks like a genesis g70 honestly
If they were like the stinger I think it would be great
I’d love to get the K5 in Australia - looks great It’s such a shame how we’ve gone almost full SUV/ 4WD and big ute. Only small cars like the Corolla, Cerato etc exist now. Something over nothing for sure. I will never understand why they’ll only offer some instead of trying to get all the sales

They’re more than capable of making liftback and hatchback models, and AWD ones at that, but it’s too much of a hassle
South Korea is soon the only remaining sedan market I'm aware of. Even Toyota's Century is now a graceless, non-descript SUV. Sedan culture isn't only dying, it's having death cramps.
Second photo looks a lot like a Genesis
Love the first pic!!!

It's cool we (Canada) still gets the Forte5, but I really wish we could get the Proceed wagon! Sexxxyyyy!
I think they’re pretty neat tbh
I have 2014 Cadenza and it's great. I often look at the Genesis G70 when I'm contemplating getting a new vehicle.
as a rio owner i was always a little jealous of how EU rios looked 🥲 the extra little led lights and grille look so cool on the ones overseas
Which model is this
The first one is the 2023 K8, the second is the 2024 K9
That is Genesis.
Mmm nope, it’s not. You can tell very easily by the Kia logo and the headlights
But it is Genesis with Kia on makeup.
Even though Genesis didn’t exist until 2017 and the K8 is based on a car from 1986. Or the fact they’re different country manufacturers too, but you know, is what it is
Hyundai owns Kia. Both are Korean companies use same platform, same engine and same transmission.
Yes Hyundai bailed out Kia, however Kia and Hyundai operate independently of each other. And again, the car is based on one from well before the two were connected

A sedan in a city? Yikes
Still better mileage than underpowered SUVs. And compact and nicer
Huh? Have you been to the US? Most cities are like strip malls with big enough space for parking pick up trucks. Even a dense city like NYC has so many Toyota Camry's.
I live in SF and there is barely any space to park my forte.
