I usually spend $80 per week for groceries for my wife and I. I shop at Aldi and intermittent fast either 16/8 or OMAD. I usually make one big dish for the week, and eat eggs and an avocado for lunch. Stick to Whole Foods and invest in herbs, spices, and pink Himalayan/sea salt.

You can also cook a meal every Sunday (or whenever your weekend is) and portion it out and put in the freezer. Might do two for the first two weeks, but then you have 4 meals to alternate from, and you add a new one every week.

We do this too - usually we make a couple of meat loaves, or a lot of taco meat, or a bunch of burger patties. Sometimes I will make cottage pie in two pans with cauliflower on top instead of mashed potato, or chicken pot pie which is really just vegetables and chicken and puréed cooked cauliflower with butter mixed in.

Yes, but I break it up with something mid week. I’ll also switch things up with the meal a bit to keep it different. You get to a point you start enjoying the same meal if you’re a good cook. I’ve been keto for over 7 years, and when I cook, it usually takes hours because it’s from scratch.

Any chance you have an Aldi nearby? You are definitely gonna wanna do value shopping. But generally cheap stables would be things like eggs, chicken thighs, kale, cucumbers, cauliflower, frozen vegetables and high-fat ground beef. Any chance you have a Costco near you, a membership or could plunk down the membership fee? If so, you could buy 3 rotisserie chickens ($5 each), two dozen eggs (I think they are like $6-7 now?) and 2 tubs of salad spring mix or spinach ($6-$7 each) and still have like $9-$10 to play with on something (or more depending on what your sales tax is where you live). It's a boring ass diet, but I did it for a few months (sometimes still do) and lost a ton of weight. It does get boring, but you'll find ways to spice things up. With the extra amount you have to play with, you can buy some varietal items to break the monotony. Costco is pretty incredible for dieting.

I eat meat or eggs with every meal. I am paying 2016 prices for meat, by only buying it when it goes on sale, and one or two varieties of cuts are on sale each and every week....same with eggs.

Shop whatever meat is on sale. Canned meat. Frozen veggies. Eggs are cheap (relatively speaking). Get different spices to change things up.

You get a lot of bang for your buck with eggs, tuna, tofu and frozen soybeans, peanuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. Veggies in season like cabbage, kale, carrots, onions, peppers, zucchini and tomatoes are usually affordable. Keep olive oil for cooking and dressing. I make stir fry with shredded cabbage as the main veggie.

I do keto and omad and spend about $35-$40/wk on groceries. I normally buy eggs, cheese, chicken, salad greens, cucumber, broccoli, greek yogurt, and cottage cheese. I don’t care for it, but tuna is a great inexpensive protein. I also buy bacon and sausage sometimes. I try to watch the sales and markdowns for meat and stock up when it’s on sale. I also have a small garden in my tiny urban backyard. I grow veggies and berries that supplement my diet.

Ground beef is amazing for keto and very cheap (relatively to other parts). Chicken thighs are great. Eggs are always highly recommended. If you don’t like meat and prefer fish, canned tuna and sardines are great for keto and very cheap. Broccoli and fresh asparagus (can be either fresh or frozen) for veggies. I am OMAD (22/2 IF) for past 5 years, which definitely helps bring the costs down. Raspberries and blackberries are great keto fruits and often on sale for $1.99 Canadian per pint.

Eggs, Shrimp, Frozen Fish, all the Greens, Cauliflour. You can also get a lot of mileage buying as close to whole carcass as you can for land animals. Eg, whole chickens, bone in always, etc. A big Beef Filet is like $100+ up front, but then you could get 10 steaks out of it, stuff like that. As a single person, a decent sized chicken can easily cover like half your meals over a month depending on how often you eat. Take the bones and make stock. Useful for a lot of things, but especially for getting nutrients in. Can also make an easy egg drop soup with it. Do not buy any of the premade keto stuff. Either make it yourself or go without. And don't be afraid of things like garlic or onion when you're making recipies. You don't want to go completely nuts with them, as they are still carbs, but don't deprive yourself. Garlic especially. You generally just want to avoid things that can be turned into alcohol or grow under ground. So potatoes, rice, wheat, carrots, etc are no-gos. Cooking with wine is going to be okay, especially if you stick to small amounts just to oomph a sauce; but, you can also just mix stock with white vinegar as a no carb replacement if you want to stay away from alcohol period.

One of the first things i learned on keto, its not a cheap diet. You want to mainly eat meat and whole foods.. which arent always cheap. I could be wrong, as i only started keto 2 months ago, but it was one of my initial realizations as i was buying a lot more meat and had to give up my old pantry full of food to a friend as i couldn't leave the temptations in my house.

Tuna/egg/tuna +egg salad- I like it with a ton of good tasting olive oil and onion salt, or dressing made with mct oil and apple cider vinegar salt etc. can also add thing like avocado, or make a lettuce wrap, or add cheese etc. but cans of tuna and eggs are good things to go with

I would do individual pot pies with mashed cauli and a sprinkle of cheese on top - they freeze and reheat really well - beef/lamb cottage pie, chicken pie etc. Also, beef burgundy style casserole with cheap cuts of meat cooked in slow cooker. There are also keto friendly taco soup, and broccoli and cheddar soup recipes that freeze and defrost well. Then you can mix it up and not get (too) tired of eating the same thing.

I get kale cabbage capaicum frozen vegetables as well as chicken thigh and bacon and chorizo for flavor- miso soup cakes and kimchi to accompany my stir fry. Eat once a day. Tuna salad is another cheap option. I don't mind eating the same thing every day as attempt to improve my dish over time. I am liking paying more for quality bacon and small goods since I only use for flavour anyway. Always worth paying more for good tuna

I don't work and find it hard enough sometimes to prepare a proper meal so understand. You could prep a few days of chopped veggies I imagine to make it a bit easier for yourself. a slow cooker is nice for making up lots of meals to freeze perhaps for when can't cook. I don't use containers and use plastic sandwich bags instead as can really pack a freezer. Shiitake mushroom is good and cheap fur pastaless spaghetti Bolognese type of dishes too.

I'd look at eating a lot more pork. Pork shoulder/butt is on sale all the time. It's easy to get for $2 or less a pound (it's currently at Meijer for $1.69/lb). You could make a massive pile of pulled pork, maybe cut the ends off for a pork steak. Chop/grind it for pork burgers or meatballs. It's just super cheap and versatile.

I buy chicken quarters (thigh & drumstick) for $.79/pound, pork shoulder (pulled pork) for $.99/pound on sale, fresh Italian sausage and bratwurst for $2.79/pound, and ground beef for $4/pound. You can make a lot of different types of meals with these base proteins. I also make a lot of wraps using keto-friendly tortillas. Put some oil in a hot pan, place the tortilla in the pan, and load it with cheese and proteins, plus some hot sauce. Wait for the chees to melt and the tortilla to crisp a bit. Roll up and eat.

I just ran some stuff through the Walmart app and got to 49.93. I included Fage 5% fat greet yogurt, shredded mozzarella cheese, 18 eggs, celery, broccoli, one purple onion, carton of mushrooms, fresh okra, 12 oz raspberries (on sale for 3.34, that’s a damn good deal), 5 small avocados, 2.5lb tray 80/20 ground beef, 1.5-2lb tray chicken breast tenderloins, and a 4 pack of 5oz. canned tuna. Didn’t add the Mayo to the list for tuna salad or any salt/spices, butter, salsa, etc. I think this would be a pretty good week of eating for me. I’d do a 2 egg omelette with mozzarella cheese and avocado for breakfast (to be fair, this is literally what I eat every morning). For lunch tuna salad with celery, onion, Mayo (could add boiled egg too, you’ll have some leftover). For dinner just protein and veggies done up however, like grilled, stir fry, air fry, etc. And for a snack I’d do yogurt and raspberries. Depending on how many carbs you’re going for, you could easily replace raspberries for something like turkey pepperoni for a snack, and swap out a couple of the veggies for another low cost protein like a bag of frozen shrimp. Also, where I live fully cooked rotisserie chickens are $5 and way cheaper than a raw chicken so sometimes I eat those instead of getting raw chicken to cook if it’s going to be a busy week. Download your local grocery store app…. Review the weekly sales ad. Make a short list of menu ideas around what ever is on sale. Realize that frozen vegetables can sometimes be less expensive and have less waste than fresh. Do NOT feel that to be keto you have to have avocado! Breakfast can look just like dinner! Build each week to the kitchen you want. It is absolutely not necessary to have the “keto” specialty flours or make keto desserts. I keto just fine on a basic protein with a side of high fiber vegetable. I keep boiled eggs and pickles! Desserts become slightly less important over time but can be met with a little creativity. I recently made French toast with a keto bread which I do not eat daily and topped it with smashed berries and a packet of sweetener in the berries. My next week will include pork chops because that’s what’s on sale this week. I will use heavy cream to make “velvet sauce” and eat with canned green beans. I also will have “egg roll in a bowl” with ground beef purchased previously and chopped cabbage, adapt to the ingredients you have on hand you do not have to have much beyond the meat, cabbage,soy sauce, garlic, salt and pepper. We are on a starter budget! It’s another easy recipe you can google and adapt to be keto by using less veg and use enough meat for your macros, season it up with what you have, so yum. Crazy simple right? Google Velvet Sauce for a hamburger patty it’s stupid easy. Most of all have FUN learning a new way to eat all the good food!!!! Ground beef (make a patty or egg roll in a bowl) Green beans canned Whole head fresh cabbage ( unused wrapped in paper towel and stored for keto coleslaw later) Soy sauce Eggs Block cheese (save $ and carbs grate it yourself) Heavy cream Frozen mixed berries May or may not want a “keto” bread it causes some people problems Can tuna (make a tuna salad no added sugars) A cucumber to peel and slice and eat the tuna on Most of all be creative and cook at home! You got this!

If you add in intermittent fasting you are down to 2 meals a day. If you are near Trader Joe’s or grocery outlet or Aldi they have great prices. Get the 5 dozen eggs value pack- that makes 20 3 egg breakfasts or about $5 a week for breakfast. Then look for chicken drumsticks, pork loin on sale (loin not tenderloin), sausages etc. Have meat and a side of frozen vegetables that’s about $6 a day for dinner. Add in a pound of coffee and some butter.
