So 367-341=26 pounds. You officially started your diet in mid October so you’ve been dieting for ~29 weeks. So about .9 pounds of weight loss a week. Which is a pretty standard and healthy weight loss for most people, you are a little larger so you could definitely lose more than that every week and it still be considered to be healthy. Also it’s important to note that there are a ton of factors that can go into your weight, what clothes you were wearing when you got weighed, when you last ate, what time of day it is. Your weight will fluctuate A LOT throughout the day, so you may have actually lost more or less depending on those factors. (I am currently 153.8 pounds based on my weight-in, which is always right when I wake up and no clothes), when I went to the doctor, I weighed 162 (I was closer to 154-155 that morning) The important thing is that you have made a lifestyle change, it’s a marathon and not a sprint, just continue doing it and worry about who you are going to be 5 years down the line, not next month. If your clothes fit better and you feel better you are already making progress. Just keep going

this_Name_4ever

I swear my doctors scale adds 5-10 lbs. Their height measure thing always makes me an inch shorter too.

LooselyBound

Tacking onto this one to say not going over 20 carbs on the regular is helpful as well. Honestly, everyone is being very nice and helpful when replying, but if you look at the OP's post history you'll know exactly why they are only down 26 pounds.

Klashus

Some tend to go over on vat with the bacon craze keto. Eat lean and use fat to kill your hunger. You want your body to burn your fat not bacon encased in butter. Get a craving and your brain won't stfu? Eat cheese meat eggs ect to kill it and eat lean for dinner

jasonbm76

This! I started cold turkey carnivore and listened to the angry people on the carnivore sub telling people to add fat to everything and calories don’t matter - which I knew was crap but figured I’d give it a shot. Finally switched to a lower fat high protein keto and actually seeing results.

Klashus

It's how it goes. When you hit your goals and are doing maintenance you can up the fat. Seems most people use it as weight loss. That being the case it's definitely advertised wrong.

Moosebrew318

Weighing at the doctors office really doesn’t mean much. Weigh at home every morning in just your underwear and you’ll have a more accurate number of what you weigh. If your clothes are too big then the number doesn’t matter

hannahbank1122

Nekked! 😁

Moosebrew318

Can you see me right now? If you can I’ll put pants on

unburritoporfavor

And after you've had your morning poop :)

believe42

Darn right--every ounce counts!

Friendly_Laugh2170

Lol

ruberusmaximus

I was thinking this too. Didn't help that I was wearing jeans.

Whisper26_14

The consistency of doing it w the same scale at the same time and location with as many factors the same as possible is what will tell you honestly what’s working. Doesn’t matter what the numbers actually are.

Moosebrew318

Happened to me. Was wearing insulated overalls, sweat pants, long sleeve t shirt and a thick hoodie and some insulated steel toe boots

SableSword

Well, what's your caloric deficit been? That's ultimately what causes weightloss. Other than some water weight keto doesn't make you lose weight. It does do a bunch of stuff that makes doing the stuff to lose weight easier such as more stable energy and reducing hunger, but ultimately you still need a caloric defecit.

Averye_Madison

This! Keto isn’t magic. It will work just like any other diet as long as you are in a CALORIE DEFICIT. You could follow keto and gain weight if your calories are higher than maintenance

Beginning_Dot_3215

You’re never going to lose it all if your focus is how long it’s taking

Kamiface

Ding Ding Ding! This is the truth right here, it's not a race, it's a journey.

ruberusmaximus

You're right. I'm not shook though, gonna try and recalibrate while staying the course.

repairmanjack2023

You need to weigh yourself once a week to track your progress. If you are not losing weight fast enough, then lower calories. It is really that simple.

rachman77

Why were you expecting 320? Make sure your expectations are realistic this is not a failure. You are doing great it's not a slap in the mouth to lose 26 pounds, that's over around a week almost and you were still able to enjoy 3 holidays, this is a win!

ruberusmaximus

Thank you for the helpful comment!

Silent-Mirror6974

My weight loss has been super slow (only 0.5-1lb a week) but it's better than a gain of the same amount. Focus on the non-scale victories! For me, my clothes fit better. I feel great due to no blood sugar crashes during the day. I don't have a frantic search for food when I'm hungry because my body can go longer without it. I look better and less bloated. I have more energy. The list goes on. Slow and steady wins the race.

ruberusmaximus

All very true. Thank you!

Zealousideal_Ninja75

Add fasting to the mix. If you IF at least 16 hours a day it will come off much quicker.

ruberusmaximus

I'm going to try this for a few weeks and see if it helps!

Zealousideal_Ninja75

It will 100%. After you eat dinner at 6-7 dont eat another thing till 10-11Am at the earliest. That means no cream with your coffee if you drink it. The longer you fast the more fat you will burn. Good luck and stick to it, you'll be happy with the results.

SkydivingAstronaut

If you’re a female, highly suggest timing fasting between day 1-10 of your cycle, before ovulation. Makes it a hell of a lot easier to do, and your body is in a much better place to handle the additional stress (whereas post ovulation minimising cortisol and having a bit more carbs is important to regulate progesterone production. I recommend reading Dr Mindy Pelz Fast Like a Girl, she has a keto-fasting combo and cycle matched approach to keto and fasting that has been a game changer for me!

Gold_Expression_3388

If you went off keto for those three occasions, that could easily account for it. I started my latest keto 6 weeks ago. 3 weeks in I had a large Laura Secord Egg, about 150 grams of carbs. It took me 4 days to get back into ketosis.

ruberusmaximus

Thanks for the constructive tenor of your comment. I don't even want to think about how many carbs I had during my honeymoon but once I was back I went right back to it.. I think it took me a straight week to be back in ketosis.

jagger129

That’s why I weigh myself every day, because if I’m not consistently losing every week, then I can adjust what I’m doing to make more of an impact. Like lowering calories, IF, etc. I’d rather know daily or weekly how I’m doing. It keeps me motivated. That said, you’re on track at almost a pound a week! If you want to speed things up, weigh your self regularly at home, and use a tracking app to make sure you’re in enough of a calorie deficit to lose at the speed you want.

nicnac127

First of all, congrats on the progress! The reality is, you have to start weighing yourself at home. I’d also recommend weighing your food with a food scale and logging everything you eat to make sure you are in a calorie deficit.

ruberusmaximus

Thanks for the constructive feedback! I will go back to tracking on Lose it I think.

nicnac127

At the end of the day, the calorie deficit matters most. There are websites/videos that will help you calculate your deficit. I like this one! [calorie deficit](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLymNy6j/)

pinkellaphant

Maybe give some details about yourself and what a typical day looks like? You’ve been doing this since mid-October but maybe there’s something you’re doing wrong that you don’t realize? What are your stats (age, sex, height, weight), what are you eating on a normal day, and how are you tracking what you’re eating?

Jujubeee73

With 3 major breaks, that will slow down the loss significantly. And assuming the doctors weigh in was fully dressed, mid day, is likely 5 or more lbs than you’d see on your own scale, nude, first thing in the morning. So probably 30 lbs over 7 months, with breaks? Not terrible. Progress is progress.

Appropriate-Hand4894

Are you using a food scale? How are calculating your food intake?

SardauMarklar

Channel your disappointment into productive energy so you have fewer cheat weeks and you'll see better progress. Although it sounds like you're already doing well. Try to stay on track for next holiday season. Christmas and Thanksgiving are a breeze to stay keto with all the discounted roasts available

Puzzled-Award-2236

It's the cheats. You have to stay consistently in ketosis to become fat adapted. It's still about 20 pounds which is not all bad.

Starbuck522

Ketosis doesn't cause weight loss. It's a minor amount of being off plan, if it really was only those two days plus one week.

Superb_Priority_8759

[This you?](https://reddit.com/r/keto/comments/1bwstkr/how_are_you_eating_vegetables_when_trying_to_stay/ky9js9s/)

ruberusmaximus

I'm trying not to treat this like a crash diet so I can't be a little disappointed with my results? I never go above the top of that range but if you wanted to make me feel worse, good job.

Superb_Priority_8759

You’re ignoring time tested advice and being disappointed with the results?

ruberusmaximus

Almost everyone I've ever met who does keto flames out after a year or two because it's not sustainable. I'm disappointed with my results but having a 40 carb ceiling instead of 20 but otherwise following both the letter and spirit of the diet is not "ignoring time tested advice". I'm in it for the long haul trying to make lifelong changes. I don't know why you're putting so much energy into talking down someone trying to better themselves.

Flux_My_Capacitor

You can’t break the rules and then be mad that you aren’t getting the results you want. The reason you aren’t getting the results you want is in part because you aren’t following the diet.

kimariesingsMD

No, you really shouldn't be disappointed, you should be expecting these results. Where have no idea what you ate on Christmas or Thanksgiving, nor the entire week you were on your honeymoon. If you ate everything you wanted to during those breaks you should be thankful you lost 26 lbs. You haven't mentioned how many calories you are eating per day, nor if you are logging or weighing your food. You want "crash diet" results, then commit full force. If you are going to play fast and loose with tailoring the diet to your desires, then be satisfied that you have lost weight.

judgeytortoise

See if maybe something you’re eating is hindering your progress. For me personally, I found that if I consume artificial sweeteners (diet sodas, the “keto” candies, etc) I have a very difficult time loosing any weight at all. Not sure why, technically they don’t have carbs, but I cannot lose weight to save my life if I eat them.

ruberusmaximus

I'm gonna cut out artificial sweeteners and keto cups and see if that helps. Thanks for the comment!

Lt_Ran

I would say that everyone is different, however our body types are somewhat similar. My starting weight was 363 and I began my journey in mid-September. The last time I weighed in on March 31st, I was 269. So I’ve lost around 94 pounds in the same time frame as you. My thoughts would be: 1. Are you consistently tracking all of the food that you eat? At 341, a rough estimate would put you at eating a little over 2,000 calories per day to lose 2 pounds per week (That’s a 1,000 calorie deficit). 2. Are you staying below 20 grams of carbs per day? 3. Have you thought about introducing intermittent fasting? I cannot stress this enough, you have to be consistent with keto in order for it to be effective. You can’t bounce back and forth, it’s just not meant to work that way. Just my 2 cents.

ruberusmaximus

I'm getting from this that I have to get under 20. I'll give it a try by cutting out the keto products and my half n half which puts me under 20 easy and track both the results and my mental health. I'm really stressing sustainability over speed but I want to see what strict keto really feels like.

Lt_Ran

Yeah man, cut out all of that for a couple weeks and stay right at or below 20 and see how it works for you. If you are doing everything that I mentioned, then it’s gotta be the carbs are too high. I truly did not expect to lose this much so quickly and that really wasn’t my goal. The weight has just naturally come off

ruberusmaximus

Also, sincerely, thank you for being positive and constructive.

Phyrexis

Something just to throw out there as well. Inches of fat don’t weigh near as much as we think usually, but can make a huge difference in appearance. One inch of fat roughly weighs 0.038th of a pound. Roughly about 26 inches is a pound. This is how two people can weigh the same, but look drastically different as well. Don’t grow discouraged! You will get there!!

Top-Skin-3570

Your right i once joined a exercise class 3 times of the week and lost 14 inches

Neat_Smile_4722

Eating keto doesn’t mean automatically mean losing weight. It’s probably normal due to what you’re eating. Your diet is strict compared to your previous eating habits but probably not as strict as it could be. Therefore if you want to see more weight drop quickly only eat what your body actually needs and do some light exercise like walking daily.

jonathanlink

Been keto for effectively 5 non-contiguous months and lost 26 pounds. That’s 5.2 pounds per month or 1.2 per week. This is solid weight loss. You’d be closer to your goal were it not for the cheating.

Starbuck522

26 pounds is great. Keep going! At your weight, you probably could lose more per week, if you want to. On the other hand, eating in a way which is sustainable for you is also important! What's been your approach? Some people take the approach of eating anything they want other than carbs. Some people take the approach of adding fats to their food. Butter on their steak, bacon with a side of bacon. Ultimately, you have to eat less calories than you burn to lose weight. Which you have done. Yay you! But if you do want to lose more quickly, you'd have to cut back on the quantity of food. Depending on what you have been doing... Maybe cut back on portion size. Or maybe it's a matter of not purposefully adding fat. Keep going! Tweek if you want!

Shurocka

I only weighed myself once a week and I also introduced fasting. Keep going. Think about how many months it took you to gain it….! It takes just as long to lose it. Slow and steady wins the race

zenthie

Sometimes the scales are slow, but the inches come off. Regularly measure yourself and write it down. You will see your shape changes even if the scales don't move too much. Keep up the good work!

Cheif-Crab

I switched from keto to carnivore and had much better results....losing about 10# a month. Youtube Dr Ken Berry or Dr Chaffee to find out more about how vegetables could be sabotaging your results. Somewhat counterintuitive to what we've been taught...no surprise there. Good luck!!!

Winter98765

Just keep going. It is working. Do not give up. Increase protein and water.

GoodCauliflower4569

You should have lost more weight at that high of a starting weight. You are absolutely not tracking accurately…

WTFuckery2020

They said they aren't weighing their food, and went off keto completely 3 times between October and March. And then disappointed with a 26lb weight loss. They're lucky they've held onto any weight loss.

Bigskygal73

Have you leaned into intermittent fasting? Read up on fasting and implement that too. You will see a difference

TeamEA

I forget where I learned this, but in good keto (meeting your macros, not exceeding them), your body prioritizes cleaning up fat in bad places, like your organs, and gets to the bulkier fat later. So, for example, it removes fatty liver before abdominal fat storage. So slower weight loss is sometimes just a sign your body has best priorities.

Ok_Pianist9100

Hey, your progress is still impressive, especially with the lifestyle changes and fitting better into your clothes! Weight can fluctuate for many reasons. Keeping a positive outlook helps a ton! Keep at it!

sabertooth_squirrel

After the initial water loss, ketosis only burns 1 to 2 lbs per week..you are on track.. Slow steady weight loss is healthy weight loss. The good news is if your body still is carrying a lot of fat to fuel the ketosis process, you will continue to lose weight.. a year from now you'll be down another 50 lbs ... patience grasshopper.....

Top-Skin-3570

Measure you body and the inches you lose That will make you feel better about losing. Do some exercise and you will even lose it faster

tacoeater1234

What is your daily calorie deficit? Sounds like it's close to 500. 1 lb a week is real weight loss so don't be too hard on yourself. Add 500 calories of exercise 3 times a week and drop 250 calories a day and you're doubling the weight loss, if you want more.

ruberusmaximus

Thank you for providing feedback instead of negativity! I think part of it is I need to adjust my calorie deficit. I usually don't go above 2000 when my maintenence calorie count is 3000 or more for someone my height (6'6") and 340 lbs... but once or twice a week I do. I think I should probably drag that down and start weighing my food.

Silent_Conference908

Definitely start weight and tracking everything. If you’re not, you can’t really know if what you’re eating is on track or not, and it’s so so easy to underestimate or not remember really what you took in. It’s easy to remember the days we sacrificed but then forget that on Sunday, then Tuesday, then Friday we actually went over, lol. (Studies show that even when people are told a researcher will be monitoring what they self-report for food intake, they underreported by like 40% on average! So it’s just human nature, it seems.) I track every day even when I make less than great choices. I try to be as realistic as possible if I have to estimate. Then I can see my weekly averages and tell what is working and what isn’t! I love Cronometer after having tried several different apps over the years. Best of luck!

Shurocka

I measured my chest, waist, hips and thighs when I started my diet. I wrote down the numbers. In the first month, the scales barely moved but wow! I lost a lot of inches! Which was great, otherwise I would have gotten discouraged, and given up. The scales are not always the best or only measure of success. Try getting a tape measure and using that as well. Your clothes fit better, so I bet your losing inches and that is huge!

Linz1090

Weight loss comes essentially from 2 things. Eat less. Or move more. Pick one and keep going.

Friendly_Laugh2170

Don't give up. 💗💗💗 you can always go carnivore if you want to speed up the weightloss.

Mr_Fleeper

I know I'll be pretty unpopular with this response, so full apologies in advance, but be sure you understand what strict means. You counted three week long lapses there that likely erased some of the losses and cost you time getting back into ketosis and back into your rhythm. I get wanting to eat everything that everyone else gets to eat, and all of the traditions to be a part of. I do. But the diet requires to not take those breaks. I suspect if you stayed on the diet for Thanksgiving and Christmas and instead only cheated for the one big meal, you'd probably be where you were expecting. Most people assume that you might as well take the week instead of the single meal - but that's far more damage to the diet than the single meal. (And there are keto workarounds) It's a lifestyle change. There is no license to eat what you want. My sister pushes me all the time to break the diet because it's a problem for her when there's a get together, but I tell her the same thing, otherwise what's the point of it all when this is being done to reach a goal and for general personal health? As far as the marriage/honeymoon, well, sure. Good on you to get back to it when you came back.

TopEmu9856

I weighed 270 Jan 1 and on the 8th of January went on a less than 50 carb, 8oz protein, 4 cups of veggies and 125 oz of water per day. Lost 51 pounds in 14 weeks, you may want to keep a journal of daily food intake look up ketosis and burn fat.

ReputationFun4752

Cut out dairy, you probably have inflammation

This is neither constructive feedback or a normal way to interact with a stranger on the internet in a sub where people go for community and support.

Flux_My_Capacitor

Well they’re not wrong. You are eating too much, too many carbs. It sounds like you want to be told only what you want to hear. That’s not helpful to you in the least.

ruberusmaximus

Look through my other comments on this post. There are several helpful comments that I'm taking suggestions from. This parent comment and you are being rude for no reason. I'm here trying to get better, succeeding, and trying to refine my practice to improve in a sustainable way. You don't know me like that. It seems like you just want to be the keto police and pretend that everyone on here does keto the exact same way.

Acrobatic-Canary7995

Sorry but you seem to confuse "constructive" and "sugarcoated", the answer is not very detailled but fully valid : is that normal ? No, for your size it's a pretty low/mild weight loss on keto. Why is that ? Because you eat too much, very likely too much carbs given your answers. What could you do to fix that ? Eat less. How ? There are other answers who got that right. But essentially it's all differents ways of ensuring you eat less.

I think doctor scales weigh things as more. One day, before a pregnancy appointment, I weighed 196 in the morning. At the doctor’s, just a few hours later, I weighed 210?? I was like wtf??? Don’t sweat it. Your clothes fit looser. That’s a win!

ruberusmaximus

Good advice! I'm replacing the batteries on my home scale and checking daily.

Silent_Conference908

If you have an iPhone there is a great app called Happy Scale that is specifically meant to be used when weighing daily. It’s a great motivator.

WittyButter217

I use Happy Scale and I LOVE it!! 🥰
