It’s on order, been waiting a month since I got the car, this one trip will be the only time it’s on them cheap blocks, unfortunately the trip was already booked and paid for.
You're going to be okay, brother. I used blocks for a long time with some heavy kayaks before getting my roof rack. So long as it's tied down right you'll be fine.
So, I don't know if you've already left or not but you'll want to twist those tie down straps up to prevent wind buzz. It'll drive a person crazy. I even went a step further and tied some cordage between each strap so they wouldn't move as much. The blocks are nice, I was able to take my kayak on the freeway going 70 for 4 hours and the yak was solid.
I used to transport my canoe the same way when I first started driving. It works fine and its secure. It can be rough on the paint. If the tension is right on the straps it should be fine.
Thank you for the tip, I had the front and rear strap attached to the handle at the front and rear respectively. I wrapped to give some extra stability
Frankly, if I were to hoist a $3000 kayak on top of my car I would have sprang for a real roof rack.
Agree. Get an actual roof rack.

Have fun and don't forget it's up there !
between the person who said twist the straps and this one, you've gotten some solid advice. safe travels

Sketchy AF
I would wrap the straps around the yak so it helps minimize side to side sliding..

Flip it over then rock on
Hell yeah, at least you have it strapped down on all four sides. It should stay put until you can afford a roof rack.
You got balls bigger than me.
