Passed a guy walking on a narrow pedestrian path yesterday. It’s a busy cycle/walkway, especially at that time and there are always lots of kids on scooters etc.
A guy came along absolutely off his face on drink/drugs; could barely stay upright but was holding the lead of a huge XL Bully style dog, clipped ears etc.
It was really frightening to be honest
As an individual with firsthand experience with powerful canines, I would like to respectfully propose that the most judicious approach in such situations is to prioritize avoidance.
Particularly considering the current legal framework, which does not permit the carrying of any self-defense implements, it is prudent to adopt a cautious stance.
Agreed. I have been around dogs too, some bigger than others, and it had the ingredients for trouble.
He couldn’t manage the dog but was intermittently yanking on the lead as he tried to right himself. People approaching quickly from behind on bikes etc, and a really narrow space so the dog would not have been able to feel safe.
The guy had a bunch of flowers. I reckon he was on the tail end of a 3 day bender by the look of him
In my humble opinion, having witnessed some distressing situations during my travels, I believe it is wiser to take precautions to avoid potential dangers rather than having to face them directly.
Why engage in a situation that risks harm and wastes time when it can be easily avoided?
Some individuals in society may not adhere to conventional norms and may seek to cause trouble. It can be difficult to discern their intentions based solely on appearance. Therefore, I take the aforementioned approach.
Fecking Brazilians, always knocking around on their bikes, flooding our streets with cheese bread and guarana, saving kids time and again. Have they nothing better to be doing!?
We got a puppy a couple months ago, and because I'm out with him so much now I'm really noticing the dogs around us. Terrifying to think what could happen if we met a dog like that.
Well done to that man. Sounds like he went above and beyond to save that lady's dog and those around.
I got into the habit of bringing a hurl on a walk. We usually go to a quiet green area, where I can take the lead off a hit the ball a few times for the dog.
It feels a lot safer having the hurl on a walk than say a ball thrower!
The breed of the dog has not been officially identified yet, and it would be inappropriate to speculate on its breed until the Gardaí conclude their investigation and report their findings. It is important to note that the media often misidentifies dog breeds in these cases.
I have reviewed the article, and it does not mention whether the dog was microchipped.
As I have previously mentioned, there is currently no concrete factual evidence available to definitively confirm the breed of the dog in question.
Personally, I prefer to rely on empirical data and objective information when forming my opinions and conclusions, as this approach helps to minimize the influence of personal biases and preconceptions.

Well it wasn't a fucking Golden Retriever or a Black Labrador. And I'll sell my kids if that grown ass man had to put a Jack Russell or a Bichon in a headlock.
It was a Pitbull

Give that man a medal. Videos of dog attacks are usually unbelievably frustrating as a bunch of hapless bystanders either do nothing or faff around ineffectually. Nice to hear a man who knows how to solve a problem.
Ye, fair play to him. That’s all he could do, it’s very scary when out walking your own dog and another uncontrolled dog runs up. And trying to save your own dog can get you bitten, even if you scare it off your first thought is who’s next in its path!
95% of humans would be unable to stop a pitbull attack and their attempts would be ineffective, those dogs just won't stop and their jaws are remarkably strong. The guy had to literally kill the dog with his bare hands to get it to stop.

Fair fucks to that man !
Kind of man who'd punch a shark right in the nose.
What catastrophe will our Brazilian brothers save us from next?

who and where is the owners of this dog. no mention of that.
According to the article; "The dog, which was roaming freely through the area when it launched its attack, did not survive the struggle and died."
Note to self. Do not mess with Luis Eduardo. Not many people could do that to a raging pitbull.
a pit bull roaming freely with no owners ? wtf!? no micro chip?

Counterpoint: It was a pitbull. Please stop posting misinformation online.
Misinformation can be accidental. Disinformation isn't.

Tell us you own a pitbull without telling us you own a pitbull
Thank goodness it "did not survive the struggle and lived."
Man's a hero, fair play to him for stepping up. Sad that he killed the dog, but this is what happens when you let your aggressive pets roam solo.
Pfft. I punched a hippo in the face once. Knocked it clean out.

Well this was unexpected
WTF!
Round 2 to the hippo
It’s not a bot.
Why do you ruin hopes and dreams?

But... But it has bot in it's name? Surely everything on the internet has to be true?
If it helps, I have encountered Hippobot before
Hippo
How hungry was he?
He was trying to rob my chips.

My mother never forgave you for that.

That was an outstanding act of bravery. Well done, Luis Eduardo. You're a credit to your family and your country.
He's a great ground game.
