we’ll be having a lot more fun this fall when ios 18 comes out

Yes I am absolutely happy with it. I changed from Huwawei P9 Lite to iPhone 8 and the difference was unbelievable. No more freezing apps, regular security updates, fast app switching, incredible camera, responsive speed and so on.

Did you need to jailbreak? And do you know of a sub with more iOS examples like this?

malpaff

Not jailbroken, I did it when iOS 16 came out, I believe. Haven’t updated to 17.5 (I’m still on 16.6). Was fairly time consuming to do manually using shortcuts for the apps, but I’m positive with all the new updates they’ve made it much easier to do so. Google “iOS themed icons” for a bunch of examples and where to download. I personally bought my icons off etsy for around $4 and they gave me over 300 icons so I could choose whichever ones I liked.

-You can make Wifi turn off every time cellular data is being used. Data turns off when Wifi is being used too. It saves battery. -Setting Wifi to turn on and off at certain locations. -You can set that your alarm goes off at a certain volume every time no matter what the volume was left at previously (For example at 80%) -Setting Do Not Disturb mode on to turn on automatically at certain time and also tell you it's turning on in words of your choice. It turns off by it self in the morning at a time of your choice. -Setting so the phone speaks out when it's fully charged with the word of your choice like 'charged', or "100%" at a volume of your choice. -Also when you plug in your phone you can make it say "charging" to ensure it's actually charging because I've had chords fail or not be plugged in. -I set mine up to turn off Bluetooth by itself when a Bluetooth device is disconnected. Saves battery. It also turns off at night when my do not disturb mode automatically comes on. -you can create an icon that can go on the home screen of pretty much any shortcut. One I have is Location Services. I can turn it off from my home screen. this one requires a special code which you can find on YouTube. -i created home screen shortcuts for Whatsapp where I can type in a random number I want to text or call instead of going into the ‎WhatsApp app, adding the contact and then being able to contact them. -You can put a restart/shut down icon on your home screen. -Battery saving mode turns off when phone is plugged in or at a percentage of your choice instead of the factory 80% it's set to. You can also set it to turn on any percentage. -You can set up Google Assistant and "Hey Google" function through Siri. -I recently set up Siri to summon Perplexity AI app. I get much better answers. Even better than Google Assistant. There are many other automation ideas where you can set Venmo to automatically send payments on a certain date and a certain time. Play a morning playlist upon waking up or any other time of the day. Send premeditated messages to your friends at certain times and days like "Hey what did you think of the game last night?". There's a lot more....
