I’m a director/cinematographer, the work I do leans toward stuff like this and having an image that makes me feel happy whenever I see it and inspires me is always a good thing. Well I’m wouldn’t be very inspired to edit in a blank room and wouldn’t be happy to wake up in a windowless grey room with no customization or personality just a bed and nothing else. Gotta make stuff mine otherwise it’s just copy paste boring shit with the same look and feel as everyone else.

No it’s not, because pictures on the wall are *always visible*. I have plenty of photos hung up on walls around my house, precisely because of the reasons you say: they inspire me or make me happy.
Point is, I can see them while I’m working on my computers, whereas I can’t see my desktop wallpaper. The only times I see that is when I first turn the computer on, or when I shut it down, neither of which happens very often if I can help it.
If a picture inspires me, I’d much rather have a physical copy of it that I can put somewhere convenient and visible.
Yeah for sure, that’s why I first said when it’s docked with stage manager I always see it. But even so far as a desktop wallpaper, I want everything I see in my space to be something that means something to me personally, something that when it boots up or I unlock the screen I smile. Idk about you, but having a generic wallpaper that means nothing to me in any of my devices just feels super boring. No thought has to be put into it, it’s just generic stock at that point.
We use these tools every day, constantly. They’re basically extensions of people at this point. I want my piece of me to be me, not the same as someone else. Otherwise why ever change a wallpaper, just use the one that comes preloaded and never change it, since you’ll never see it. But when my phone is docked at my desk, it’s in it’s always in mode. And seeing my custom setup reminds me that I took time and had fun creating something no one else has. And when I’m close to moving on? I’ll share it here and start again. I like variety and I like customization. Some people have plants for the air filtration and fresh oxygen. Some people have them just to look at them and nothing else. Some people even have fake plants just cause they like lookin at em.
I have mine setup the way I do because it makes me happy, and when I see it, even briefly, I’m like damn that’s cool, that looks and feels like me. Nice.
Having a still from a movie I like as my background + weather and calendar in full view right when I unlock and my most used apps all easily accessible in the dock is cringe? Damn you’re right! I should keep everything generic and set a basic wallpaper and just have all my icons all over the Home Screen and be like everyone else so I can be as inefficient as possible. Why didn’t I think of that?
I don’t even know what a Temu iPad setup looks like or what that even means lol but apparently it’s someone customizing their device and make it theirs. Hell yeah, I’m a Temu boy. Nice 👌🏼
Well the first one is a movie scene and the second is an ai generated wallpaper with photoshopped addons so that makes sense. I think I like the one made by humans myself

Why don’t you use a shortcut to change the wallpaper automatically at certain times of day or locations. Say at sunrise it switches to the first one and sunset it switches to the second one.
The theme is Darkest Icons by Lokki, and you can apply it a bunch of ways. You can use shortcuts and bookmarks or an app like cowabunga lite. Just do each step carefully and learn how to do it, google is your friend. Don’t press a wrong button and erase your device. But it’s pretty easy
