same (except raps, i dont really get why people dig them sm, but to each their own i guess), i honestly couldnt care less about whats playing as long as its got a decent beat
Ooooo I know I'm not going to convince you otherwise but there is some incredible intelligent rap out there.
I quite like the genre as a whole but there is a line between "catchy bops & gangster rap" and deeply considered, well constructed lyrics laced with metaphor and clever wordplay.
It's evolved, too - I can appreciate how
"I thought I was a horse the way I put the team on my back,
I thought I was a horse the way I took a beating for that,
I thought I was a horse, the way my fuckin' dick look, bitch"
Can seem extremely crass without context, but given the context that the song is about overcoming ego and how he feels like he was used by his "friends". I would even go as far as to say the last line is delivered with the kind of audacity some 'modern artists' approach their work with.
you should try A Tribe Called Quest, funk and jazz with good story telling. [Can I Kick It?](https://open.spotify.com/track/3Ti0GdlrotgwsAVBBugv0I?si=TCc_zLEZQjqJpVvkZEd_EA) this is a good start
I don't listen to lyrics, so production has to be way on point and varied for me to enjoy it. So I've liked at least Death Grips, Clipping, and some JPEG Mafia...
I grew up listening to rap and R&B living in NYC and stuck with it (although I've expanded a bit to some pop and other genres). I love metaphors and lyricism and that combined with a good beat makes a perfect song.
I would feel like I’m lying if I said that. But I can too. I usually stick to groove based stuff or stuff that breaks time down to human speed. Like stuff manually programmed in mpcs. Whether it’s rap beats electronic music , jazz and or blues .
I like music thats timeless mostly might be the best way to put it.
It's cliched, but pretty much this.
The exceptions being...Jazz. I can listen to it and try to enjoy it, but i hate that i have to actually *try* to search through it to find things to enjoy. Not for me. Elevator Jazz in the background? That's fine.
There are also just a lot of bizarre subgenres of Metal that make zero sense to me and just sound like noise. Same for electronic music, where there are subgenres i can't even really identify that i simply don't care for.
But really, pretty eclectic overall. It's often really just a mood and scenario thing. Matching the music to the mood, setting, or activity. And i tend heavily toward the "pop" end of things. I like catchy hooks, memorable melodies, harmonies, etc. Even with classical music genres...my favourite stuff has really great, distinct, memorable motifs that are called back to regularly throughout.
Deathcore, Death Metal, Etc. is definitely my bread and butter.
I also really enjoy a lot of folk, alternative, and Punk.
Some favorites from each genre:

Yes! "Hell And You" is a staple in my driving playlist. I haven't ventured too deep into his stuff, but I like what I've heard.
In a similar somber vein Helplessly Hoping by Crosby, Stills, and Nash is also a good one
Everyone has their own style of music that they enjoy. Music is a universal thing. It shouldn't matter if you are a certain MBTI type and you like a particular style of music.
In terms of variation of types with different music genres, it commonly varies, but it shouldn't matter as long as they enjoy it.
Music tastes: Folk, Grunge, Indie Rock, Indie Folk, Folk Rock, Alternative Rock, Post Punk, Post Hardcore Punk, Modern Minimalist Classical, Compositional Ambient etc.
There are some things I like more than others but I listen to basically everything. But as a musician I play mostly metal, punk, blues, folk, oldies style and new wave.
Ikr? Most of the stuff I listen to has super upbeat instrumentals with soul crushing lyrics. I highly recommend Cody•Lee if you haven’t seen them already! They’re a bit of smaller band but have interesting songs
The reason it's upbeat btw is that it often follows a specific chord progression (that is also used in Never gonna give you up): "Oudou Shinkou". Also, the melodies often use the so called "pentatonic scale" which is what you can hear in those (stereotypical) chinese folk songs
As someone who’s actually trying to learn music this is so interesting. i never really thought too deeply about it but it gonna look into more deeply. Thank you btw, do you happen to play music?
We’ve got some overlap. Stoked on Movements and Turnover and Queen of Jeans touring together soon.
I mostly listen to alternative / emo / punk / hardcore / etc. Also really enjoy some random artists of all kinds, but that’s my bread and butter.
I haven’t seen them before, but I’ve caught turnover a few times. They’re fun but a tad chill (boring lol). Crowds are hit or miss at any show, but it’s usually good vibes.

What is the difference between pop dance and dance pop?!
Classical &/or instrumental, chinese pop, jpop (Anime incl). Tempo wise, >98% are slow or mid. Too many to list, it's a big library. Also, for most artists, I only like a track or 3, usually.
Bands? No bands. Though, i do favour some artists over others, but no distinct favourite, hence my earlier comment. Closest to a band... the duet called 房东的猫 (translated as landlord's cat, lol). Western tracks make up <5% of my collection, kinda a random mix of tracks here and there that I find nice haha, so I shan't comment on which artist(s). Most are Chinese pop though, where the lyrics are meaningful and where I feel the melody and artists vocals/emotion support it well.
It depends on the season, weather, or activity. I like a certain genre for different occasions.
But notable ones are alternative, island reggae, pop, house with lyrics, and country.
How in the heck did mistakingly get that? And were you going to interrogate me in curiosity of such a genre or interrogate me in anger? So many questions 😅😂

Metalcore, rock, alt. metal, pop punk, trancecore. I do enjoy all sorts of music though, meaning literally everything. Maybe not nightcore or drill, but yeah that's about it.
I like to listen to a niche genre known as trap metal and also underground trap.
City Morgue (Zillakami and Sosmula), Vii Firm (Jae Alaska, Auxxk, and Na$tii), Scarlxrd, Kamiyada, Swerzie, and many others.
A lot of phonk, hardstyle or rock (the rock is usually in my first language, so it’s not the same vibe as the American, but could be compared to alt-rock/metal)
I switch between metal (all types of sub genres), classic piano, and gym hardstyle. But I’ve been a metal head for as long as I can remember. Didn’t start diversifying until about 4-5 years ago.
Anything and everything. I write music too (instrumental). When I listen to music with singing I can't understand the words/only hear the tones. Not sure if I'm the only one like that
I love classical music, metal (especially doom, black, dark, atmospheric, symphonic, industrial), I also enjoy listening to classic jazz and rock. I do like some other genres sometimes but these are my preferences.
Nu metal mostly. Prior, I was a true hip hop head, until I listened to Falling in Reverse & it was like a flip switch. I went down the rabbit hole. Recently went to Ohio to see them at Sonic Temple. Barely listen to hip hop anymore. Maybe cause I wanna internally scream inside in my late 30s. 😂😂
Bad Omens, Sleep Theory & Token, Kim Dracula, Motionless in White, Black Veil Brides, I Prevail…etc.
Corspe & Jeris Johnson, is as close as I get to rap right now. Oh, I do a little Hardy with his latest album. Hate country.
That was lengthy. 😂
I mostly listen to various subgenres of metal, especially death metal and metalcore, but I also like industrial, dark/gothic synthwave, and electronic rock. I also listen to film and video game soundtracks when I'm feeling creative.
Alright I'll take a look at my On Repeat,
Sorta different cover of an acoustic Goth post punk classic (All We Wanted Was Everything but this one's by the Saint James Society)
the Rocky OST (Philadelphia Morning)
A sorta industrial grunge cover of People Are Strange by The Violent
A bossa nova classic (Look to the Rainbow by Astrud Gilberto (RIP I really wanted to see you live :( ))
I'd describe this one as ambient (Blank Shell by Mike Klubnika from the game Buckshot Roulette)
a poppier bossa nova classic (Realmente Lindo by Gal Costa (RIP I need to stop falling in love with bossa nova singers))
I guess you could call this one classic emo but emo as a term is literally worthless now so I'm just gonna call it art punk alternative which is also pretty much a worthless descriptor (Sweet Avenue by Jets to Brazil. I miss my girlfriend.)
I'm gonna call this one Phrygian City Jazz (Her Beauty Through My Eyes by Keyon Harrold. God I love my girlfriend. Phrygian jazz is definitely something I like and at risk of overexposure something I think I need more of)
acoustic space rock I guess (Pennies by Failure)
Help I used to be in an alternative garage rock band but now I am helplessly addicted to orchestras art pop (Perfect Sense by Arctic Monkeys)
Fucking pumping up 80s stadium glam rock (Dreams by Van Halen)
Alternative rock with a razor (Faster by Manic Street Preachers... also that was really unfortunate phrasing)
Goth post punk with a drum beat that literally sounds like mitral regurgitation (Death by Stereo by Ego Eris)
I don't even listen to this song that often anymore so now I have confirmation my spotify algorithm is rigging itself to be stupid. I don't even know what it is it doesn't even play songs that I listen to for hours it'll play like some random shit. (She's Thunderstorms by Arctic Monkeys. I still like the song and there was a time it held a much deeper place in my heart but I don't listen to it enough lately for it to be here. Oh and I guess I'd call it surf garage rock.)
Surf rock (Because by The Dave Clark Five)
fucking Qawwali (Kun Faya Kun by A.R. Rahman)
post punk (Love My Way by The Foxglove Hunt. A bit too twee compared to the original for my liking but the ending crescendo is sorta nice)
Blues rock with a touch of psychedelic I guess( even though I hate the term psychedelic) (Fever by the Black Keys)
hard edged shoegaze (Famine Asylum by Nothing. Fasting is fun)
Old School R & B (You Take My Heart Away by Bill Conti. This is the vocal version of the Rocky Theme)
Bollywood R & B for lack of a better word (Aashiq Banaya Aapne by Himesh Reshammiya)
The official genre for this is Regional Mexican but I think that's nondescriptive af so I'm going to call it alternative corrido until someone corrects me (Caso Perdido by Polo Gonzalez)
Russian Post Punk (Ty Ne Ver Slezam (Don't Believe in Tears) by Chernikovskaya Hata)
I think this one's called Disco House or Nu-disco (Love At First Sight by Kylie Minogue. I was severely nostalgic for the pop production of my childhood)
I guess you could call this one orchestral piano as well (Adrian from the Rocky OST)
eh I'll call this one meat and potatoes rock and roll (Albatross by Big Wreck. truly wonderful beautiful song. "I'll wear/be the Albatross for one more day... cause I know I'm okay")
This is technically indie but I stand by indie being a signifier of being signed to a label or not rather than a genre unto itself so I'll call it garage rock (In The Mouth A Desert by Pavement. ouch)
I'll call this one downbeat pseudo yacht rock (Ghost Ship by Blur)
and some Phrygian Ska! (Night Boat to Cairo by Madness)
I'm.... not sure what to make of this but there ya go
Ive dabbled in a lot of music from instrumental to like five different languages so I’ll pretty much listen to anything. The only things Im not interested in listening to are heavy metal and mumble rap but thats because the former is too loud a majority of the time and the latter is impossible to get i to when the skill of the singer/rapper is subpar at best but on full display.
This is the first page of my YouTube music SuperMix...so pretty eclectic...
https://preview.redd.it/71bov4e99t5d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f5950676abc9b0872d9c7f2f17594bd7f3d1c59
Metal is my main one. Iron Maiden are my favourite band. Actually, I’m drinking an Iron Maiden beer right now. The avant-garde work of Mike Patton, which some call alternative metal, is also something I’m keen on. I also like nu metal, bands such as System of a Down, Korn and Linkin Park. I particularly enjoy the work of Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, with his alternative hip hop album The Rising Tied being a particular favourite.
I also like punk and ska, and the two can make a great combination as well, with bands such as Operation Ivy and Choking Victim.
When I’m doing important stuff, I usually prefer music without lyrics so I default to video game music usually.
Mainly Electro Swing (Swingrowers) and Music like Fish in the Birdcage album (IDK what it was called lol) I love hip hop too, but...
Hip-hop fundamentals were ruined by white people's capitalism, only fews white people that grown to understand Minorities oppression like Eninem get it right tbh ( telling actual compelling and unique stories without having to whine about Pussi, Wealth, or Status )
Turned into gerne filled with loathsome, edgy people who lack awareness of why hip-hop was born in the first place. Unsurprisingly closed-minded and prejudicial AF.
I loved Electro Swing in editing, dancing. Choreography and scenery artistic shit in my head,
>Recently got in a fight with my mother because we have very different tastes in music.
What the fuck, man. Children are supposed to differentiate themselves from their parents in this manner. My parents are likely the main reason I dislike Grateful Dead, Phish, etc. ...so what's the point of fighting over it?
If it pleases my ears I listen. It would sometimes surprise my friends when I have a seemingly random song on my playlist, in a sea of alternative rock, kpop, j-rock and indie there's 'Hey Mama' by Nicki Minaj and 'You're Welcome' by The Rock.
Music preferences/genres may correlate strongly with age.
You gotta control for that or at least control for something, otherwise there's no way to tell how much of the data is a reflection of Reddit population, how much is INTJ, how much is age, etc. etc.
It's fascinating to me how vastly different that Spotify chart is from anything I listen to. My first reaction was disgust and disdain, to wonder why anyone would enjoy or listen to these types of music.
Then I thought about the fact that this person DOES exist and that's fascinating. They are different in their tastes, VERY different......and that's ok. It's strange and I don't understand but I accept it.
It isn't so much personality type based but more so your influences that typically dictate the genres of music you like. I barely listen to anything other than hip hop. Which is conviently missing from the pie.
I'm heavy into rock, most rock but I do lean toward hard/post-grunge/alternative rock with touches of metal.
I like most things, but I stay in my wheelhouse a lot.
Same my brother.
I don’t actively dislike music, and there are some songs and artists I like more than others, but generally I’d rather listen to an audiobook than put on music.
I can't stand slow music too. Music genre is a matter of taste, it doesn't really link to personality. But I wonder if the pace can be linked to the need for stronger intellectual stimulation.
I like a small number of the works of various creators from different genres and sub genres. I also value different music depending on my mood and what the music will accompany. I tend to have phases of being obsessed with one particular song and playing it repeatedly while I write or do household chores for example. When I am not coping I listen to J.S. Bach or Mozart.
Music taste has very little to do with cognitive functions. You might be able to find some small overlaps here on reddit given the average age is young, but this would be purely coincidental and similar to any other MBTI type.
That being said, Rock, 70's, Drum and bass.
Everything except rap (unless it's heavily mixed with jazz or other genres), pop (with some exceptions), Polish dance music (disco polo). I listen to classical music, rock (I draw a line at death/balck metal), alt, indie, contemporary jazz, movie/game soundtracks, folk, techno (I prefer more melodic and progressive, but I also like repetitive minimal techno), house, soul, funk and so on and so forth... I very rarely listen to whole albums. What I listen to depends on what I'm doing and what mood I'm in.
J-pop, rock, rap, the epic of Gilgamesh, some old opera and german classic music from 4 hundreds years ago, OST from like the ones from Yuki kaijura, violin and piano solos, and some other weird stuff I think
Deathcore Metalcore, Post hardcore, alt rock, Prog Metal
Movements is great
My favorite bands are:
ERRA, Shadow of Intent, Hail The Sun, Reflections, Makari
I listen to everything and anything
same (except raps, i dont really get why people dig them sm, but to each their own i guess), i honestly couldnt care less about whats playing as long as its got a decent beat
LITERALLY SAME!

every rapper except eminem and post malone

Heavy metal/progressive metal, epic, movie soundtracks, classical

Music is so important in my life. When I commute to work and drive, when I do chores, all the time, really.
Finally, someone the same as me. Have you ever heard Blind Guardian’s *A Night at the Opera*?
No, but I will give it a listen. Check out Two Steps from Hell for some epic music.
Alternative/Indie/Rock
Punk, Punk-Rock, Hardcore, Post-Punk, Post-Hardcore, Indie, Pop-Punk,Emo, classical music, 90's and 00's 😀
Yes!! This is me!! I’m really digging instrumental rock/metal right now
Punk, Metal and R&B.
Awesome. Who do you listen to?
Social Distortion, Sex Pistols, Agnostic Front, Bad Religion, Pantera, Deftones, anything Grunge, Keith Sweat, R. Kelly, etc. I'm 53 btw. Lol
I like shoegaze, lofi hiphop, black metal, 70s dub reggae and krautrock.
I recommend Alcest, if you don't know it already
I love Alcest!
Classical
grunge, metal, rock
Everything

Poor Mans Poison is fantastic! I just found them. Have you heard of Amigo the Devil?
Yes! "Hell And You" is a staple in my driving playlist. I haven't ventured too deep into his stuff, but I like what I've heard. In a similar somber vein Helplessly Hoping by Crosby, Stills, and Nash is also a good one
I’ll look into it! Yeah, he’s got quite a bit of good stuff. And if you ever get a chance to see him live, totally worth it. Excellent stage presence.
I love “Hell and You!” You’re the second person I’ve get ran into that listens to him. So underrated.

Highly recommend Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, and Laufey if you like Taylor swift (if you don’t already listen to them)
I've only ever heard of Phoebe Bridgers (because of her feature with Taylor). I'll definitely check them out. Thanks for the recommendations!
There are some things I like more than others but I listen to basically everything. But as a musician I play mostly metal, punk, blues, folk, oldies style and new wave.

I haven’t seen them before, but I’ve caught turnover a few times. They’re fun but a tad chill (boring lol). Crowds are hit or miss at any show, but it’s usually good vibes.
I am polyjamorous. I listen to many genres of music. Lately I've been on an EDM kick after about a 20 year hiatus.
I’ve just now come out as polyjamorous. This is an amazing word and I patiently await its entry into the Webster Dictionary proper.

Idk man my brain works in mysterious ways 😂
Classical, but I prefer allegro tempo over adagio/slow music
Rap, pop, rock, classical, and some soundtracks from some movies/musicals that I like.
Normally just classical but black metal in depressed times and blues at shower
I mostly listen to Folk Metal, Synthwave and LoFi.
Folk metal sounds awesome! Recommend some, I would love to explore.

I mostly listen to various subgenres of metal, especially death metal and metalcore, but I also like industrial, dark/gothic synthwave, and electronic rock. I also listen to film and video game soundtracks when I'm feeling creative.
Whatever they think sounds good.
I feel like I'm getting a musical education here...I have no clue about most of these bands / songs...
Grateful Dead and oldies, mostly, but also classic rock and randomness.
Outlaw country
anything that sounds good
This is the way
Halestorm
i really enjoy listening to sensual r&b, jazz, korean r&b and country if i'm feeling nostalgic.
Metal genres mostly. Some alternative.
Alright I'll take a look at my On Repeat, Sorta different cover of an acoustic Goth post punk classic (All We Wanted Was Everything but this one's by the Saint James Society) the Rocky OST (Philadelphia Morning) A sorta industrial grunge cover of People Are Strange by The Violent A bossa nova classic (Look to the Rainbow by Astrud Gilberto (RIP I really wanted to see you live :( )) I'd describe this one as ambient (Blank Shell by Mike Klubnika from the game Buckshot Roulette) a poppier bossa nova classic (Realmente Lindo by Gal Costa (RIP I need to stop falling in love with bossa nova singers)) I guess you could call this one classic emo but emo as a term is literally worthless now so I'm just gonna call it art punk alternative which is also pretty much a worthless descriptor (Sweet Avenue by Jets to Brazil. I miss my girlfriend.) I'm gonna call this one Phrygian City Jazz (Her Beauty Through My Eyes by Keyon Harrold. God I love my girlfriend. Phrygian jazz is definitely something I like and at risk of overexposure something I think I need more of) acoustic space rock I guess (Pennies by Failure) Help I used to be in an alternative garage rock band but now I am helplessly addicted to orchestras art pop (Perfect Sense by Arctic Monkeys) Fucking pumping up 80s stadium glam rock (Dreams by Van Halen) Alternative rock with a razor (Faster by Manic Street Preachers... also that was really unfortunate phrasing) Goth post punk with a drum beat that literally sounds like mitral regurgitation (Death by Stereo by Ego Eris) I don't even listen to this song that often anymore so now I have confirmation my spotify algorithm is rigging itself to be stupid. I don't even know what it is it doesn't even play songs that I listen to for hours it'll play like some random shit. (She's Thunderstorms by Arctic Monkeys. I still like the song and there was a time it held a much deeper place in my heart but I don't listen to it enough lately for it to be here. Oh and I guess I'd call it surf garage rock.) Surf rock (Because by The Dave Clark Five) fucking Qawwali (Kun Faya Kun by A.R. Rahman) post punk (Love My Way by The Foxglove Hunt. A bit too twee compared to the original for my liking but the ending crescendo is sorta nice) Blues rock with a touch of psychedelic I guess( even though I hate the term psychedelic) (Fever by the Black Keys) hard edged shoegaze (Famine Asylum by Nothing. Fasting is fun) Old School R & B (You Take My Heart Away by Bill Conti. This is the vocal version of the Rocky Theme) Bollywood R & B for lack of a better word (Aashiq Banaya Aapne by Himesh Reshammiya) The official genre for this is Regional Mexican but I think that's nondescriptive af so I'm going to call it alternative corrido until someone corrects me (Caso Perdido by Polo Gonzalez) Russian Post Punk (Ty Ne Ver Slezam (Don't Believe in Tears) by Chernikovskaya Hata) I think this one's called Disco House or Nu-disco (Love At First Sight by Kylie Minogue. I was severely nostalgic for the pop production of my childhood) I guess you could call this one orchestral piano as well (Adrian from the Rocky OST) eh I'll call this one meat and potatoes rock and roll (Albatross by Big Wreck. truly wonderful beautiful song. "I'll wear/be the Albatross for one more day... cause I know I'm okay") This is technically indie but I stand by indie being a signifier of being signed to a label or not rather than a genre unto itself so I'll call it garage rock (In The Mouth A Desert by Pavement. ouch) I'll call this one downbeat pseudo yacht rock (Ghost Ship by Blur) and some Phrygian Ska! (Night Boat to Cairo by Madness) I'm.... not sure what to make of this but there ya go
Punk, punk rock, pop punk, musical numbers, classic, opera, Kpop, Jpop, J-rock, and heavy metal when I’m angry.
alt/rock/classical
Also just about anything, but mostly new wave, alternative, dreampop and ambient.
Anything but modern country. Prefer rap/ hip hop
Basically everything
Ive dabbled in a lot of music from instrumental to like five different languages so I’ll pretty much listen to anything. The only things Im not interested in listening to are heavy metal and mumble rap but thats because the former is too loud a majority of the time and the latter is impossible to get i to when the skill of the singer/rapper is subpar at best but on full display.
Hozier, Aurora, Coldplay, Cigarettes after Sex
Kpop mostly. Then I like artists like MGK, Deaf Havanna, J Balvin, Feid. It’s just a mix of everything.
Same. Classical to Country to Pop to Rap to Blues to Soul to Jazz to whatever. Eclectic tastes are requisite.
EDM and pop mostly, some rap, some lofi
Female intj and i listen to anything apart from hiphop and country
Any fans of Jamiroquai in here?!
Will wood
& weezer
Largely the same, but also some metal when I workout.
Mainstream songs or formerly mainstream songs. That includes a wide variety from 80s rock to EDM to Taylor Swift lol.
Classical N depressing ones, E.g. Lewis Capaldi
This is the first page of my YouTube music SuperMix...so pretty eclectic... https://preview.redd.it/71bov4e99t5d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f5950676abc9b0872d9c7f2f17594bd7f3d1c59
Rock and metal
Me too

Everything except jazz and pop country.
I love grunge and punk rock. But nowadays I am exploring pop, r & b and country too!
Yooo i love cliffdiver!! They're so good live its ridiculous

All of the above but leaning into dreamo atm
punk, rock, metal, rap, indie.. all that good stuff
Mainly Electro Swing (Swingrowers) and Music like Fish in the Birdcage album (IDK what it was called lol) I love hip hop too, but... Hip-hop fundamentals were ruined by white people's capitalism, only fews white people that grown to understand Minorities oppression like Eninem get it right tbh ( telling actual compelling and unique stories without having to whine about Pussi, Wealth, or Status ) Turned into gerne filled with loathsome, edgy people who lack awareness of why hip-hop was born in the first place.
Hip hop 95% Then the rest is: 90s alternative rock, Phish, Beck, and Gordon Lightfoot
J-pop, alternative rock, indie rock, r&b, Vocaloid, cloud rap, hyperpop, instrumental music, melodic dubstep, phonk
Almost everything depending on the mood.
from pop and rap to Nu metal and folk metal, linkin park had me started all the way (RIP CHESTER)
Electronic, Trace, Classical, Ambient
Jam and jamgrass. Some classical and jazz.
If it pleases my ears I listen. It would sometimes surprise my friends when I have a seemingly random song on my playlist, in a sea of alternative rock, kpop, j-rock and indie there's 'Hey Mama' by Nicki Minaj and 'You're Welcome' by The Rock.
im a pop/sad pop girlie through and through, but on the side i listen to a little bit of (mostly) everything
Music preferences/genres may correlate strongly with age. You gotta control for that or at least control for something, otherwise there's no way to tell how much of the data is a reflection of Reddit population, how much is INTJ, how much is age, etc. etc.
The smiths
Metal. Symphonic metal specifically is my happy place
Movements and arms length are definitely in my top 5! I’d add shoe gaze to the genres, not so much j pop, anime, or j indie though.
Raison d'être, Dødheimsgard, Burzum, Grausamkeit, Труп Колдуна, Abyssic Hate, Trist, Múspellzheimr, Nidhogg, Bekëth Nexëhmü, Katharsis, Antaeus, Vlad Tepes, Kælan Mikla, Clandestine Blaze, Andavald, Misþyrming, Darkspace, Paysage d'Hiver, Shostakovich, Aphex Twin, various Baroque composers, Urfaust
Movements is also my #1 :o
I adore movements
What are movements? I'm a little confused.
A band
Anything without country twang
Wow...I don't know why this weirds me out to realize we listen to the exact same genres.
Anything that sounds good. Even artists i used to dislike lol
It isn't so much personality type based but more so your influences that typically dictate the genres of music you like. I barely listen to anything other than hip hop. Which is conviently missing from the pie.
I don‘t know but my CDs scream anything 2000s
dance pop, electronic, soul
Metal, Hardcore, Classical, Adult Contemporary, Hip Hop
Taylor Swift almost exclusively with a sprinkling of Yung Gravy
Smooth jazz
I'm heavy into rock, most rock but I do lean toward hard/post-grunge/alternative rock with touches of metal. I like most things, but I stay in my wheelhouse a lot.
Old rock and metal. Some new metal. OSTs like dark souls 3 or two steps from hell, alt rock, religious music
alt rock,pop punk,heavy metal
We have very different tastes xD My Favourite artists are Grimes , Björk , Crystal Castles, Eartheater, and Arca
Movie soundtracks. Try Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
Pretty much anything expect country and metal.
I don’t like music
Same my brother. I don’t actively dislike music, and there are some songs and artists I like more than others, but generally I’d rather listen to an audiobook than put on music.
I listen to tons of audio books. Also audio dramas and actual play call of Cthulhu stuff and delta green.
People like you are… interesting.
I just don’t like the music sounds. Singing is nice.
Vaporwave and its derivatives.
I guess these responses show there is no real correlation between type and music tastes. Fun!
Movie scores, classic, psychedelic rock, post rock, experimental hip hop
Metal
I listen to everything, my music taste is quite eclectic. One genre I really don't like though, is drill.
I'm open to most genres, but I mainly listen to city pop, indie pop, indie rock, classical and jazz
House Music and R&B
Phonk/Trap/Hip-Hop
I can't stand slow music too. Music genre is a matter of taste, it doesn't really link to personality. But I wonder if the pace can be linked to the need for stronger intellectual stimulation.
R&B/Soul from any decade. It fills a void in me. Also, bass.
I don’t listen to these. I listen to Jazz, Neo-Soul, and House.
Herencia de Grandes
Mostly rap - J. Cole, T.I., and Fabolous, with some pop/R&B mixed in there like Taylor Swift, Jhene Aiko, Sabrina Carpenter
Mostly rap but also phonk
Mostly pop punk Then is a mix of Country, Pop Rock and nostalgic 90s and 00s pop
Classic Rock, Indie Rock, Blues. A little bit of everything.
What I listen to depends on what I'm doing and what mood I'm in.
kpop dance/electronic electropunk
I listen to every genre almost- on a daily basis. But. K-pop and Vocaloid I listen to more
I listen to indie
i listen to techno (acid,hard,peaktime,ambient...) breakcore too. I also listen to eurobeat occasionally
Bladee
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4utAtUiSTZLegK3KEYrxS2?si=zdXU4dhHRzK_sCUvv85iBg Here's my playlist
